She insincerely apologizes for not being able to make it out to Sacramento, but obviously, more pressing matters were at stake--namely, a shot at becoming the next CWC World Champion. She briefly muses about the fact that drawing #28 in the gauntlet didn’t bode well for her--but, neither did facing someone twice her size, or a two-on-one situation to earn a and she handled that before, so PNW shouldn’t be too surprised if the next time they see her, she’s headed for the CWC World Championship. But, she isn’t ONLY focused on the Gauntlet later tonight--she watched the Beat the Clock Qualifiers from last week’s Warfare. A smirk paints itself across the face of the Emerald City Siren, as she (very, VERY sarcastically) applauds the efforts of the other qualifiers--the look on her face, though, is anything but impressed, mentioning having to face off with either a knockoff Jessica Sears, a roid monkey, a wanna-be pirate, a hipster, or Vivi--the only one she wants anything to do with. Sophia digs into her bag and pulls out the SVW Pride Championship, and the FFW No Surrender Championship. She holds both up to the camera, reminding PNW that she isn’t ONLY after the CWC World Title; collecting gold is what she does--every company she’s in, she’s a champion of, and PNW’s next. She sets the belts back down, smirking into the camera as she has one last message--to Liam Callaghan, this time… “Enjoy the time you have left with that belt. “It won’t be long before it’s mine.” She winks at the camera, clicking her tongue just once as the scene cuts to the Warfare intro.
Backstage Agatha Edison is discussing mind games and the Madsens with her partner, Gear Gamma, for the third week in a row. She admits that, okay, the last two experiments didn't work... but this time, she's got it. She's figured it out, the ultimate change to the formula that will bring the whole thing together. Tonight Gear Gamma has a one on one match with El Forestaro... and the Gear Society will show they really have what it takes to get into peoples' heads. The cameras cut to the backstage where a man who is not on a single CWC roster is sitting in the backstage area. This blonde haired competitor of NGW, #FSociety, and EXODUS Pro fame was here for one night only and one match only. He spoke to the cameras with a polite but firm tone. He said that there was one reason that he decided to make this special appearance. The fire he witnessed from Nico Costello impressed him. It was the kind of passion that he likes to see out of competitors. The fact that Nico wanted to take on the best of the best, regardless of where they were competing. Simply put, he felt as though Nico Costello deserved this opportunity for a high profile opponent, so if Nico Costello believed that this particular three-time World Heavyweight Champion was a big name he wanted in a ring, how could he refuse? So what was this man’s goal? To make sure Nico Costello gets everything he ever wanted out of the match. To give him a fight he will never forget, regardless of the result. But make no mistake, he wants to win. Because this man, eight days away from a chance to become a four-time World Heavyweight Champion, had something to prove himself. He had to prove that when he is on his game, he could win against anyone at anytime, like an “Any Given Sunday” kind of attitude. The fact he is leaving the confines of his own company and wrestle in front of a different fanbase, with a different locker room, was just the test he wanted. He only knows maybe four people on the entire roster. This gave him a chance to to test himself against someone from outside his the cast of wrestlers he’s used to fighting and is constantly exposed to. Despite all this, he could not afford to take Costello lightly. He had to prepare for Costello the same way he was preparing for his big title match next week. This might be the only match...the only time he ever steps in a ring in CWC, much less PNW. He doesn’t know the future, but he can say that he is presently happy with his current employer, no disrespect to the organization that is letting him make this guest appearance. There might not be a second chance for him to showcase what he can do to this group of fans and even members of this roster exactly what he can do. He has to make this impact right here tonight. He has to show everyone just what he is capable of. This wrestler then address Nico directly, telling him he wants him to give him the best match he possibly can. He wants this match to be one of the greatest PNW has ever seen. Anything less than a hundred percent was unacceptable. He was going to give Nico everything he could. Because that was the type of fighter he was. That’s the kind of match that the Dropkick King wants. And Adrien Cochrane was going to do what he could to make that happen.
As the bell rings and “Rain” dies, KONSTANTINE squats over to retrieve Ava’s unconscious self by the head. He carries a microphone in his hand, and he looks out to the anticipating audience. He gives Ava a quick onceover, before driving the microphone in her head. He then presents her to the audience with an agitated expression. KONSTANTINE: You see how fast I did that? How fast I made a mess out of this bitch right here?! He drags her across the ring towards the ropes. KONSTANTINE: I did that faster than anyone, anyone, in that Beat the Clock Challenge could ever do. I’m going to watch them get ahead by opinion alone. If no one beats my time, then I’m the proper number one contender. That’s all. If I’m not dubbed that, then you best believe that there will be consequences. He smears some the blood across his chest, and angrily glares down the camera. KONSTANTINE:The End Project will start, and everyone will suffer. He drops Ava back down on the mat, kicking her away from himself. With his words echoing throughout, he makes his way out of the ring backstage. Before going back to ringside, the announcers throw to a worn down Cali-Kate, fresh off her stint in that night's CWC World Title Contender Gauntlet in New Orleans. They attempt to ask her about her win over her opponent in two weeks, Mistress Vivi, when as if spoken into being, Kate is blindsided by Vivienne Robichaud, who screams at her, asking if this is "In your face enough" for the Geekette. Security in the Smoothie King Arena rush in to break the pair up, and we head back to the ring.
Gage was met at the top of the ramp by O.G. Williams, who promised something in store for him to be announced in the coming week. As for Veeka, he said, the 15 Champion would face the winner of an "Instant Opportunity Match" at Warzone Seattle; Nico Costello would take on Tabitha Tremont, and the winner would face Veeka that same night for the PNW 15 Title! We cut to prerecorded footage from earlier in the night, seeing a locker room in the Sleep Train Arena. Standing at one of the lockers is Nicholas Gray, having just finished changing into his wrestling gear, he’s shoving his gym bag into the locker. He seems relatively at ease, which changes sharply as he turns around, and twitches as he realizes he’s not alone. KONSTANTINE has joined him. The two counterbalances each other on appearance alone, only matching one another in countenance. Although KONSTANTINE radiates a subdued malevolence, Gray furrows merely a brow at him and relaxes in his present company. KONSTANTINE sees this and shots an irritated glare at him. KONSTANTINE: You seem composed in front of a person who threatened to send you down a flight of stairs on sight. There is a pause, leading to KONSTANTINE calming down the intensity that usually accompanies his presence. KONSTANTINE: You weren’t worried, to begin with, but I’ll tell that I have no plans for doing that today. Maybe some other time when you find the need to interfere in whatever I’m doing. Seeing as you have come to my dwelling to try to garner success, I assume we’ll cross paths in a more violent manner at some point. I do wonder… His words trail off. KONSTANTINE: Who will be the victim of your flippant ways next? There are plenty of younger minds willing to adhere to your corruptive teachings. At first, Gray just shrugs, putting on a tiny smile. Nicholas Gray: There’s no stairs in here, so I figured I’d be fine. As KONSTANTINE calms down slightly, Gray nods to him. Nicholas Gray: Well, I’m thankful for that. Wouldn’t do either of us any good to fight if we still have to work tonight, would it? But the relaxation that came over him fades away at KONSTANTINE’s last remark, a scowl coming across his features briefly. His words now are slightly bitter, aware of himself. Nicholas Gray: I’m not trying to recruit anyone for anything, pal. Tried that, didn’t go well, as I’m /sure/ you’re aware. I’m the last person should be trying to teach anyone, especially these kids. Finally realized that, at least. A rare grin creeps onto KONSTANTINE’s painted features. KONSTANTINE: Then all will be fine. I have witnessed the things you’ve done in the name of what you believe in, misguided as it were. It’s always amusing to watch the leader drag others on their path that they don’t understand either. Alas, you’re not here for that. What are you here for then? Success, you say? What? Were you not content with your place in obscurity? It was safe out there; no one bothered to question your legitimacy. Or rather, no one treads here that would do so. KONSTANTINE lowers his head for a moment, searching for an answer to his question. KONSTANTINE: It was a rare opportunity for you, Gray. You could have lived out the last remaining years of your career gone from the world, with all the memories burning up in the sun. I’m not referring to that dreadful place in the Pacific. I’m referring to everything else, all the things that Nicholas Gray tried to do before the business side of our world took hold of him. No one truly questioned how efficient Nicholas Gray was in the ring; everyone lived under the common understanding that you were a better politician than a wrestler, leader, or more importantly...a teacher. As KONSTANTINE very efficiently knifes through Gray’s existence, his expression grows more and more darkened, KONSTANTINE getting under his skin expertly. He doesn’t immediately start to respond, apparently having to repress some urge just to escalate things immediately. His fist clenches for a moment, but he finally hisses out a breath and relaxes as best he can. Nicholas Gray: It’s not about me. I’m sure someone thinks this is just some glory grab, but I don’t care about how I appear. Or I’m trying not to. I’ve figured out I need to live with what I’ve done and my mistakes, but I’m not the only one who has to. My family does too, and why should they have to live with my legacy being heroin, failure, and my broken Imperium. They deserve better, they’ve always deserved better. If I was alone, I’d be more than happy to just...burn up, like you’ve said. But I’m not alone. He stands up a bit straighter, perhaps finding some resolve in his words as he faces the face painted man. Nicholas Gray: My daughter won’t grow up in a world where her father’s just a failure. His final words create some tension in the air as KONSTANTINE’s neutral expressions shifts into a seemingly bewildered one. He scoffs, a vacant one to avoid having to face what Gray stated right then. He takes a second to turn his gaze away, looking anywhere but on the resolute father in front of him. When he returns, there’s a clear anger resonating off him. KONSTANTINE: That’s honorable of you. It was a genuine statement. KONSTANTINE: Just don’t get in the way. You, unlike the other fools that have crawled into this place like the rats they are, are taking the long road. At some point, we’ll fight, perhaps for the PNW Championship, but until then...don’t get in my way. Or else-- KONSTANTINE stops, almost stating something, but he withholds it. KONSTANTINE: Just stay away from my path and follow your own. He proceeds to move past Gray, heading towards the entranceway. It is to be noted that KONSTANTINE didn’t bump into Gray, fully making his way around the man. Gray watches him go, his expression has changed in the face of KONSTANTINE’s changing expression and his...he wasn’t sure if they were even threats or just honest advice. He nods to the departing figure, a small hint of something sad in his voice as he mutters to himself. Nicholas Gray: Yeah...that’s the only one I have left. And with that he takes a seat on a bench, waiting for his match to come, his expression hard to read as the footage comes to an end. The lights go out across the Sleep Train Arena. Slow, trippy music begins to play, and the members of the audience start holding up cell phones and waving them around--creating an effect not unlike fireflies in the distance. After several moments of buildup the PNW Tag Team Champions, the Gear Society, step through the curtains. Both of them are wearing huge, fake beards. Agatha Edison in particular is wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a straw fedora, and carrying a lantern. The two members of the Gear Society make their way down the ramp to a rocking chair that's waiting in front of the ring. Despite how ridiculous they both look, the entrance has a solemn air, an intense aura that seems to wash across the building-- until Gear Gamma goes to sit in the rocking chair, and it immediately breaks beneath his weight. The crowd bursts into laughter, the lights come back on, and the haunting soundtrack abruptly cuts off with a record scratching noise. Agatha shakes her head before helping Gear Gamma to his feet. The big man stares at Agatha for a moment before removing his fake beard, handing it to her, and getting into the ring for his match.
We cut backstage, where new interviewer Felicity Kingcade is standing by with a notably nervous looking Scarlett. Felicity first congratulates Scarlett on taking a step toward becoming the next challenger for Veeka Manns’ 15 Championship, and while the Spaniard’s grateful for the congratulations, she frowns a little bit at the mention, and brings up that she’s competed for PNW for three weeks, she’s had two matches, and both have been tainted wins. Felicity, for her part, asks why Scarlett seems upset about the fact that she’s won both her matches thus far, to which Scarlett replies she doesn’t want to be someone who needs help to win; the interference, the distractions… Tthe Spaniard rubs at the back of her neck a little as she seems to consider how to say what she wants to say, and in the end, settles on just wanting to be able to prove she can compete. Not that she can compete, but she needs someone’s help to finish a match, or that she can mostly wrestle, but when it comes to finishing a match off…Scarlett huffs a little bit and insists that, win or lose, she’d rather do it by herself than have all the interference and the distractions and so on. Felicity switches the topic, and asks about Scarlett’s opponent for the evening, Britt Kane, and what Scarlett expects out of this match. The Spaniard bites her lip a little bit, visibly put off by the question...before eventually just shrugging her shoulders and hoping for a straightforward win this week--she knows it’s going to be tough, with Britt wanting to prove herself in the company, but she also knows that if she wants to prove something to herself, as much as to the PNW fans or anyone else, then she can’t afford a loss this week. The Spaniard flashes a little, nervous smile at the camera, starting to turn to leave--then doubles back and adds a quick good luck to Nico Costello in the main event, before turning and leaving the shot.
Backstage, we catch Nico Costello, who is getting ready for his main event match against the three time world champion, Adrien Cochrane. Yet, there’s something amiss tonight. Instead of the boisterous energy found in earlier showing. Instead, there’s a sheer gravity in him sitting down on the bench. A Dortmund hoodie covers his head as he slowly cranes his head upward to look into nothing. He sighs, and shakes his head, moving to the sound of the music in his earbuds. Soon enough, he stands up, stretching out. Nico Costello: It’s all or nothing tonight. He reaches towards his bag, drawing out something in a tight pocket on the side. A long chain comes out with a locket dangling below. He takes it into both of his palms and opens it. The camera doesn’t intrude on what he looks at, but it’s obvious that’s close to his heart. He even shows that by placing it against his chest. He looks up to the lights, and blows a kiss upward. He puts the locket and chain away and sits back down. Nico Costello: I can’t waste this chance. Not now. The operator decides to leave him be and head off elsewhere in the arena. There’s a small line of text that crawls across the bottom of the screen that reads: PREVIOUSLY RECORDED And then the image clears to reveal none other than TNT herself, Tabitha Tremont. She’s in the midst of a classic 80’s style “Training Montage” while her themesong plays, and at the top left corner winks the two words “Think Pink” while she goes through her paces, flipping tires, running bleachers, and then running through some moves in a set up wrestling ring. Slightly out of breath after all this she gets a bottle of water to sip on as she tells the fans she’s sorry not to see them tonight, but she is working hard to make them proud as she represents her supporters in Pacific Northwest Wrestling as she attempts to secure herself the spot as the number one contender for the CWC World Championship! She’s no stranger to working hard, she says, and while she’s entering at number 15 of 80, she’s going to hang in there as long as she can because in a match like that, if you have the will and stamina you can defeat all kinds of odds - and after all, there’s some big names in this that had worse luck of the draw than she has, names that could otherwise go right on the list of people who could win the whole shebang! Tabby finishes her water and thanks the fans for watching, and tells them to watch and enjoy the show as the scene fades out.
After a break, O.G. Williams was in the ring with a table, and invited first the #1 Contender to the PNW Championship, Rose, to the ring. Next he brought out the champion, Liam Callaghan, who was greeted warmly by the Sacramento fans. He laid out the match, reminding fans how Rose won her contendership, and how Liam retained his title over Jackson Fleck. Next he laid out the next challenge for whoever wins, the winner of the Beat The Clock Challenge. Finally, he invited the challenger to sign the contract first. Rose took the mic from the boss, and told Liam that she had already physically dominated all the women in PNW, and now it was Liam's turn to feel the pain they felt. She slammed the mic down onto the table, and without breaking eye contact with Liam, signed her name on the contract. Liam paused, soaking in the crowd response, before taking the mic himself. He told Rose he respected all the work she'd put in, but he had worked just as hard to be on top of the mountain here in PNW, and he wasn't planning to give that spot up to her, or anyone else, anytime soon. Then, he signed his name on the contract as well! As O.G. Williams went to hype up the fans again, Rose seemed to get irritated at Liam's facial expression, and...rather than flip the table, picked it up and heaved it outside the ring! The crowd went wild as the two came nose to nose, but booed when security hit the ring to break the two up before they could come to blows.
Nico, worn down and shocked, sat in the ring for a minute after the win, his music playing. Adrien rose slowly from the mat, and the two sat across from each other, before Adrien reached his hand out. The pair shook hands, and stood together, the NGW visitor raising his opponent's hand to the cheers of the crowd as the show ended. |
