What I have done is unprecedented

The LeCavalier dynasty is comprised of set of strict written and unwritten rules. Tradition. Hierarchy. Legacy. They are the basic cornerstones of our family. Those, along with numerous others, are drilled into our skulls the moment we exit the womb. They are binding, restricting.

What of the unwritten rules one might ask. Obviously, they happen to be a lot more subtle. Any yet, they are just as restraining.

One such unwritten is never challenging the “ace.”

Uncle Norman was the ace of my father’s generation. He was well-traveled. He was an ass kicker. He was respected by nearly everyone, wrestler or otherwise. That is what garnered him the title in the first place. He was placed on a mighty pedestal, above my father, above my Uncle Martin…

I wonder how they felt.

Were they angered and baffled? Were they dejected and depressed? Did they feel that their individual efforts were undersold and swept under the rug? I have watched endless amounts of footage of all three of them. There was not a grand skill gap amongst the three.

Despite him being deadly in the ring, my father is kindest man that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. And Uncle Martin? He is forever humble, almost to a fault. He’s a giver, hence the reason why manages the orphanage.

Why did they deserve to be relegated?
And still, not once has it ever been said that they complained. They are human; they have emotions, just as I do. But they did not complain. They grinned and beared it, just like all the kin of the previous generations.

Considering all of what I just recounted, what does that say about me?

Ryan and the other elders would certainly label me as cold-hearted, envious, resentful. Hmm. Maybe they are not incorrect. Maybe I am all of those things.

However, perhaps I am crazy.

Crazy enough to know and understand my worth. Crazy enough to stand up to the injustice that has been plaguing and tormenting me. Crazy enough to throw caution to the wind and take a mighty chance on myself.

What I have done is unprecedented

No one has ever challenged for the right to be called the head. If I fail? Then I’ll be disgraced, just as I was once before. And unlike last time, there will be no coming back. Nevertheless, if I am victorious? Well, even I am not certain what happens then…

However, I would much rather step out into the unknown than drown in the deep abyss.
