It’s a most beautiful evening here…

If I were in New York City right now, there is no doubt that I would be freezing my ass off. It’s currently a cool Twenty-Two degrees outside (yes, the pun was quite intended). However, instead of freezing my nips off, I am resting easy here in Santa Barbara (a swanky Sixty-One degrees by comparison).

After grabbing a half-downed bottle Ceretto Santo Stefano Moscato and left Rachel and Sophia inside the house as I walked outside. The sun had set maybe twenty minutes ago; the night sky cast a mighty shadow upon the ground. I watched as a brisk breeze blew in from the west and licked the leaves of some nearby trees. I might have felt a chill, but my North Face jacket kept me warm and secure.

I lifted the bottle a took a liberal swig of the wine as I descended down the porch’s steps and made my way towards the lawn. The sky’s black and purples hues intermixed with the stars’ illumination light created an stunning contrast. A bit more sweet nectar was downed before I lowered myself onto the grass and laid down to get a better look at those stars.

What a New Year’s Eve. It was simple, a light-hearted evening between three friends. And yet, I would trade it for the world.

Rachel was a doll for inviting both me and Sophia into her home. It had been made six or seven months since the two of us had been introduced; our friendship had become quite mighty in that time. I probably did not do a good enough job conveying it, but I appreciated to love and support oh so very deeply. The same could be said for Sophia. We connected a couple of months ago, due to our respective travels through the CWC and SVW. It became immediately clear that she and I were cut from the same cloth, so she quickly captured a bit of my heart.

They were inside mildly chatting and watching a film. I’d join them in a moment or two. It would have been lovely if my mind would separate itself from wrestling, just for a moment or two. However, I couldn’t, not just yet. Cloud Nine was still in my hemisphere. And so, as I lay gazing up at the sky, my mind began to wander. To turned not just to the previous weekend, but to the entire year.

In Your House.

Myung and I had two primary goals upon teaming up at IYH. The first was to assert our dominance. That one was not too difficult; in fact, we were able to check that one off our list quite early as team. The second, of course, was to capture the IYH Tag Team Champions. The honor alluded us for a great while. And then Ground ‘N Pound came around. Myung and I defeated Jetpack; we were finally able to hoist those championship belts high into the air.

Myung and I held the belts for one hundred and twenty-six days, longer than any team at the time. We also established a record for most successful defenses; it is a record that has been tied by Jetpack since, but it still stands. We defeated the best that the company had to offer. And lastly, Myung and I crafted the most ornate tag team match in IYH history—the gauntlet match. It is something that shall be talked about for years and years to come.

Whether people in IYH hated us or loved us, we captured their attention. And most importantly, we left a mighty impression and indent on the promotion before we departed. And one day, we shall make our ways back there.

Empire Pro.

I dropped cryptic video after cryptic video prior to my debut in Empire. A select minority certainly thought the videos were pointless. But for most, those videos stirred up anticipation and intrigue. Everything came to culmination at Empire’s Oblivion event. The main event? Nessa Wall against Smith Jones in a cage match. I made an appearance that night, which lead to Nessa losing the Empire Championship.

Pitty.

My actions that night, and my subsequent tormenting tactics, led to a barbaric hardcore match between Nessa and I at Throes of Perdition. She went everything at me that evening, including the kitchen sink. She bloodied me. She put me through two tables. She connected with her knee strike and her cyclorama—and she still could not finish me. ‘Twas a shame on her part. I went through hell that night, and I was still able to walk away on my own accord. That match should have served as a mighty lesson to those who care to pay attention: a determined and strong-willed Misha LeCavalier is nearly unstoppable.

At Vendetta, I took part in another hellacious match with Morgan Russo. I did away with my natural technical style of another night to engage brutal street fight. That is one of my strengths; I can adapt, even when something is out of my element. Morgan defeated me that night, true enough. But it was I who rose her up to that caliber of match; even she shall tell you that.

And but of course, there is the match I had with Ryan over the weekend. It shall go down in Empire history as one of the most clinical bouts conducted. Tis also a match that my family shall also remember. No longer will the elders be able to claim that I am lazy and unambitious. No longer shall they be able to say that I have not proven myself to be the best.

Sila.

Championship Wrestling Coalition.

The CWC held Global Warfare a couple of months back. This was a massive tournament comprised of wrestlers from the organization's overseas promotions. The winner? He or she would be named the inaugural CWC International Champion…

That winner was me.

But as they say, the climb to the top of the mountain is the easy part—tis remaining on top that is oh so very taxing. And yet, if any wrestler is capable of shouldering the responsibility of holding the International Championship, it is I.

Sam Kelly. Craig Anderson. Adeline La Roux. Hirokai Yokoza. Yuri Hoshino. Carlos Cruz. Konrad Raab. The name of every single challenger that stepped to me, and was slain, in some manner or another. And yet, that list still seems a bit short to me. I’ll make a note to add a couple more names to it during the upcoming weeks; that shall be a wonderful way to bring the new year in.

Shooting Star Wrestling Alliance.

So much has happened in SSWA this year. However, three major things always jump to the forefront of my brain.

The first would be my saga with Danielle Vasquez. She and I had a series of encounters and matches midway through the year. And in the midst of our war, I claimed the SSWA Rising Star Championship from her. By doing so, I became the very first person to hold the championship belt on two separate occasions. A little nugget of SSWA history, carved out specifically for me. Danielle recaptured in from me later. However, that does not dilute my accomplishment, not a bit.

Next? Well, that would be securing the UK Cup. Oh, I came oh so very close last year. And in truth, I was haunted a bit by my failure to win it last year. But after awhile, I elected to channel that haunting into determination. Instead of feeling sorry for my misfortunes, I began to map out a path back to the top.

Capturing the UK was magical. I’d just won the CWC International Championship the night before. I was riding high on confidence and emotion. Both of those assets aided me in me defeating Emily Carter and GRENDEL the next evening. Afterwards, I was finally able to hoist that cup high into the air—a testament to my prowess and resolve.

Lastly, I would be sorely remiss if I did not mention the fact that I earned that swanky number one spot on SSWA’s power rankings just before the year came to a close. What a marvelous feeling.

Sex and Violence Wrestling.

Similar to my debut in Empire, I started off with a bit of a bang. An amazing match with Charity. An impactful showing in the Midas Touch. A couple of encounters and match with Jo Dysart. There was that lovely bout with Nico Costello. And of course, who could forget my spectacular match with Kaoru. Things shall only go upward in 2018. Being on Uprising shall be very sweet.

I took another sip of my wine. Thoughts of my brief stints in the International Elite Cup, Cardinal City Pro, and Hermanos Extraordinarios de Lucha Libre ran through my mind as well. Fun times, fun times.

2017 was the best year of my career…

“Meesh!”

The shout came from the house. A combination of Rachel and Sophia. I pulled out my phone and looked at the time. I’d been reminiscing for maybe twenty minutes or so.

“Meesh!”

“I shall be there momentarily,” I responded.

I picked myself up off the ground and dusted myself off. My eyes snuck one last glance at the sky.

2017 was the best year of my career—2018 would be even better.

Another swing of wine entered me as I made my way back inside the house.
