GHOST IN THE GATES

TP IDEAS

You want to do the whole ZP/Batou pairing, I think I could actually make that work. See if this scenario provides enough insanity to keep us busy for awhile...

ZP sleeps with Batou and is either stupid enough not to use a condom or uses oil based lubricant and the condom breaks. Either way, ZP gets pregnant from it. Gwen is pissed and attempts, several times, to use the tech at section 9 to prank him out of his mind for the sake of revenge.

Gwen: (bellowing so that ZP, Batou, the Major, Aramaki, Togusa and Ishikawa can hear) <COOTIES! COOTIES!!! ZP HAS BATOU COOTIES!!! I caught them going at it like friggin rabbits and now my eyes are burning out of my head and ZP has coooooottttttiiiiiieeeeessssss!!!!>

What I need to know is what the reation would be from each of them, could you give me a basic idea besides Batou trying to beat the crap out of Gwen?

CHARACTERS (OC) (CREW)
Also, Batou's spirit form, The Moon Bear. I figure a bear is the closest animal to resembling his personality enough that it would work. And there are only two mythological bears I know of. Kushira is the Sun Bear, Batou is the Moon Bear. Aramaki's spirit form would be a nine tailed fox. A really rugged looking silver one. Major I haven't worked out yet, but I'm thinking that Ishikawa would probably have some kind of bird as his spirit animal, probably Thoth as his guardian and the Ibis as his symbol, the reasoning being that in wicca, air is the element of intelligence and intellect, fire is instinct and survival, water is emotion and tranquility, and earth is material possessions, protection and stability.

In addition, I have Aramaki's amulet. Its a silver ring that's the key to an attack I'll explain later. Kara gave it to him when they were children and when he was tapped, Aramaki blessed it as his amulet.

Also, giving Kushira the Sun Bear automatically gives her the sun alignment and a fire element. Giving Batou the Moon Bear automatically gives him a moon alignment and a water element. Kushira's paws burn when she touches somebody, and she can turn the blaze on and off. Batou's paws do the opposite and freeze somebody, again, a controlled freeze. Also, if a person is cybernetic the parts of their body that are cybernetic in human form are cybernetic in spirit form.

Also, the bad guy who tries to hack Aramaki. His true name is unknown, but he's called "The Shadow Hacker." He combines Ghost Hacking techniques with Shadowmancy and if one of his attacks scores a direct hit anywhere on a cyborg's body, it excises and destroys their ghost, then fries their cyberbrain beyond repair. A person who's been hacked by the Shadow Hacker has solid black eyes, an almost insanely violent expression on their face, and when they attack somebody they shoot black energy from their hands. That's the deadly attack. He was the very first ghost hacker and the whole reason that Aramaki founded Section 9 in the first place, so that nobody would go the way his friends did. We can work out more details later, but that's basically it.

CONCEPTS (MAGIC) (COMBAT)
Otaku Kokoro Rei= Translation. forbidden heart spirit. Its the gatekeeping/valkire equivalent of a kekegenkai, but very, very different. The Rei differs depending on the dimension the gatekeeper is from and is triggered by a specific emotional state.

In the case of the Ghost in the Shell universe its called the Ghost Plasma Blitz and its triggered by a specific fear, the fear of losing somebody or something important to you. So important that it doesn't matter to you if you die protecting it as long as the thing you were trying to save survives. No other emotion matters, not a sense of duty to your country or an obligation to protect the innocent. The emotion triggering the blitz is intensely personal. It was a technique once lost and stumbled on again by a younger Aramaki at the Battle of the Shadow Hacker. He used it to beat him and they thought that the Shadow Hacker was gone for good.

When Aramaki uses the blitz, his eyes turn red, bloody, sanguine red. A ball of pure white energy appears in the hand he's going to be attacking with. He falls into a position similar to a fencing crouch, but instead of the dominent hand (the one he's attacking with) forward his dominent hand is back. The ring glows with power and he can either gather the attack into a beam form or use it like a club, aiming an open handed blow to his opponent.

For the blitz to work, some sort of magically conducive metal has to be on the person's hand. Their chi is channeled through that metal into a physical form. In Aramaki's case its the silver ring that Kara gave him to use as an amulet. Gwen has a similar ring, made of hematite, and once accessed the ability before she was tapped through another technique I'm about to explain. However, only the strongest gatekeepers and valkire can access their dimension's kokoro rei. its use is therefore, extremely rare. And since metal serves as a channel, cybernetics and cyberbrains act as amplifiers for the attack, making it the perfect technique for a technopath/cyborg to use.

The blitz starts when the emotion of fear triggers a reaction in the ghost of the person in question. The ghost's wavelengths then change from electrical to magical energy. The person is temporarily out of their mind with fear, but the result is increased speed, amplified physical strength, and the ability to literally shove parts of a person's aura off of them, slowly whittling away their life energy blow by blow. Basically, if the chief uses this one, he goes temporarily insane, but when he stops using the blitz he's back to being himself again with very little harm done.

CONCEPTS (METAPHYSICS)
Reaching and the Collective Pool- "There is no original and there is no leader" has different implications for gatekeepers and valkire. They share a pool of collective experience and consciousness. Every so often a gatekeeper or valkire is capable of "Reaching" into the pool and pulling an attack out of thin air that they may never be able to use again, but usually helps the situation in some way. There are two kinds of "reaching."

Ancestral Reaching is reaching into your past life and taking an ability that you had then, and don't have now. This kind of reaching is permanent and very reliable, but you can only use it once in each incarnation. Jazra's Hyuuga eyes are actually a prime example of this, as I was plotting reaching as far back as three RP's ago as a reason for jazra being able to do what she does.

Collective Reaching reaches into the collective pool and chooses an attack that the gatekeeper/valkire in question would normally not be able to use but seriously needs. It doesn't matter if the keeper/valkire its taken from is alive or dead, they can still use it. Collective Reaching is very rare, temporary, and volitile. Its like trying to draw a wild in Uno, and basing your entire playing strategy on that one card, not impossible, but highly improbable considering how many cards are in play in a deck and in the players hands at any one point.

TP PLOT
When the Major finally does Dive Gwen, she finds a battle memory. In this case Clark, knowing full well who Kushira and Asura were attempted to expose them by going spirit form and attacking them in broad daylight one Saturday. Asura was injured and Kushira was stuck protecting her. Gwen got so frightened, so angry, that she used Collective Reaching to borrow Aramaki's Ghost Blitz and not only beat the crap out of Clark, but managed to scare the bajeebers out of the other gatekeepers and valkire present. Since then Gwen has never understood what happened that day. Often the person using the blitz has no memory of using it afterwards, just that they did and that its there. And Gwen has yet to use collective reaching a second time, as its usually a defense mechanism for untapped Gatekeepers and Valkire to use to defend themselves in an emergency. Its also one of the signs that "Searchers" like Rei use when evaluating new gatekeepers, as the technique reached for can tell a lot about the gatekeeper's personality.

CHARACTERS (OC)
Seita- I'm still debating whether or not to use him. But he's Erikla's twin, same cinnamon hair, slightly darker eyes, and they drive each other nuts. He's his dimension's equivalent to a very hyperactive, younger Saito. Only instead of a sniper rifle he uses a composite bow. After he's tapped he can change the size of it and the arrow he's using so that the shaft of the arrow can be anywhere from the size of a pin to the thickness and length of a man's arm. His spirit form is sort of a... half thunder bird, half human sort of look and he can fly. he's working on trying to develop a magical equivalent of the eagle eye, but he can't quite figure out how to go about it because he hasn't seen the schematics for the actual thing. Until he perfects it, if he tries it, his shots will fall wildly off if he tries to use it to improve his accuracy.

GENERAL

CONCEPTS (METAPHYSICS)
Persephone Effect- This rule of gatekeeping states that if you're given a permanent power from a specific dimension (by a means other than ancestral reaching), such as being Cyberized, then your aura starts to vibrate with the wave length of that dimension and aurically you're no longer from that dimension, you're from the dimension that you got the power from. And any aura scan will have that wave length in it. What this means is that once Erikla is cyberized, she'll be able to use the exact same attacks that Aramaki and Kushira are capable of, including the plasma blitz. Its named after the story of the Roman Goddess Persephone, who ate six pomagranete seeds and thus ended up having to spend half the year in the underworld.

((ZP, please take the data I sent you on mirrors and post it here. I accidentally deleted it from my sent folder)))

General Communications and TP Update

So, we know how Dex and Del are getting separated with the Yin-yang Talisman. I was thinking that ZP would accidently find the fetishe version. The only difference is that th fetishe version has a sort of built in timer. It only lasts a week.

Anyway, I need to explain all the Yin-Yang weapons do. They separate what is, in essense, the good and evil part of a person. Which ever side is more powerful will gain more inate abilities. For example, if it were used on Starfire, there'd probably be good star, who'd have flying and starbolts, and bad star, who'd only have super strength.

Personality tends to get split too.

Basically, the effect on Del and ZP is that, since they are essentially neutral, their powers get split evenly. Another fail safe is that the good side always gets the gatekeeping powers.

Also, the last thing to be figured out: the gatekeeping half, the good half, gets the body, regardless of age and time, that they had the exact moment they were tapped. This is SUPER important.

The reverting process: Good and bad wear a necklace that looks like yin or yang. The necklaces need to be touched together.

So, let me get into what happens, both with Del and then ZP.

Del gets all the gatekeeping, and gets turned human. SHe had a few cuts, but nothing major. It was after the first time her father sent her to the hospital. Del is a lot more humble and generally timid, but she hasn't stopped flirting, even if its toned down.

Dex gets all the ghost and freemagic powers. She also has no inhibitions. I mean, unlike the normal Del, Dex gets what she wants when she wants, even if it means rape. So, dex isn't to be messed with.

This is all fine and dandy, until we get to ZP...

First, ZP WILL find out her true name, but she won't tell anyone. When she was tapped, yea, she wasn't in too good a shape. I have to post it in fanfiction, btu basically, Del tapped her just after she'd gone psycho and killd her father, gettin the injuries that led to cybernetics. Del tapped her when she was bleeding out without an arm and leg. However, before the cybernetics she had automail, sp she actually understands Gwen's feelings a lot better than she'll ever admit. Also, it took Del months to convince ZP to go out with her for two reasons: the fact that she believed she was straight, and she WAS homophobic. The fetishe is gonna bring her back to that. Its also gonna split her sexual preference. ZP will be straight, very straight. Of course, this is a problem considering she's obviously critically injured and scared of the entire base. I was thinking that either Gwen volunteers as her nure and gains ZP's trust, which will result in ZP crushing on her when she's back to normal, or Gwen just somehow getting pinned with the job.

As for her opposite, Zarax. First, we remember the whole ZP split personality. Well, this is basically her opposite personality, psycho murderer ZP. She even has the silver hair. She's an expert marksman, with all the cybernetics. I mean, debateably better than Saito. She's got a scar over her eye and wears an eyepatch. For ZP, the scars were actually invisible but the fetishe mae them visible.

Oh, and keep in mind, technically ZP is still a technopath, but she can't communicate to Gwen like she used to, her brain isn't cyberized anymore. NOw she's on an even more instinctual level than Gwen.[/QUOTE]

Would she have to be cyberized all over again or would that come back when ZP's back to normal?

Tachikoma: Major what's blackmail?

Major: Why do you want to know?

Tachikoma: Gwen is looking through the stuff Mr. Batou left in me looking for something she call blackmail fodder.

Major: Why?

Tachikoma: Something about Batou being a poacher and stealing her girlfriend.

Major: Oh no.

Togusa: I know, for awhile I was actually hoping that those two would learn to get along.

Major: I guess we gave Gwen too much credit.

I had the idea that Gwen takes one of the cloaks that Section 9 uses, combines it with a Cyclops Talismen, and as soon as the headboard banging stops in Batou's room grab the man and string him up by his toes somewhere.

Oh, Erikla is in love with Kairi. Kairi's gonna be the one to get full bodied. You can develop Kairi if you want. But Erikla's going to tell Kairi one of her main quotes. "We don't keep the gates for want of power. We don't do it for fame. We do it because we love. We love our worlds, we love our people, and we love each other." The one thing I wanted about Kairi's cybernetic body though is that, like Kuze before her, her jaw won't move. She'll speak just fine. Her jaw just isn't moving when she does so. Considering the fact that there was a scene where Kuze and the Major almost kissed in the last episode of second gig, and considering the fact that they were hugging when the TAchikoma started their suicide plunge, I figure any resemblence, however accidental, that Kairi bears to Kuze in cybernetic form is going to cause her either amusement or anguish or both. And Kuze died by the way, he was assasinated by the bad guys, that's why the Major would be angsty over it.

Speaking of which, I was thinking that since Gwen's probably about seventeen by now, going on legal, she might end up sleeping with the Major eventually. Especially when she thinks that ZP's abandoned her for Batou.

I figure it would go something like this. After Kairi goes full body, but while she's still in the hospital, Gwen ends up having repeated nightmares where she's in Kairi's position and can't cope with it. She wakes up screaming in the trundle bed next to the Major's big one at one of the safe houses. The Major gives her a hug to try and comfort her and Gwen accidentally leaves her thoughts unguarded, especially, at long last, how she feels about Motoko, but that she doesn't think she has a chance with her due to age issues and the fact that Batou seems to really like the Major. At this point the only way the pairing would happen is if the Major made the first move.

Ghost in the Gates

CHARACTERS (OC AND SERIES)

Aramaki's teammates
Name- Specialty-Nationality-Spirit Form

Kara- Pre Med- Native American- Sun Eagle, similar to the thunderbird or the Native American Skygod
Corey- Info Tech Major- UK- Winged Serpent (HUGE, with fangs about the length of one's arm and very, very poisonous and feathery wings at least twelve feet wide)
Aeryn- Poli Sci/Philosophy Major- Irish- Black Dragon (about the size of a horse or so)
Daya- Pre Law- Indian- Black Tiger with flaming paws (reference to Kali and Agni)

And of course there's the chief himself, you can decide his major, and we know that his nationality is Japanese.

Spirit form- A huge silver, ninetailed fox. This thing is about the size of a motorcycle and side car put together, craggy and raggedy looking, but graceful in its own way. Its eyes are solid brown, a dark mahogany brown but turn red if he's activated an attack. Physical abilities are amplified including speed and physical strength. Anything else is up to you. I'm considering a fox fire sort of attack kind of like Kyuubimon's foxtail inferno attack, only a /lot/ stronger and faster.

Erikla's teammates
Name-Spirit Form- Special Skill

Seita- Thunderbird- marksmanship, working on a magical equivalent to Saito's eagle eye and when activated his right eye glows golden
Isai- Winged Lion- philosophy and history, good shot with a colt pistol
Kairi- Purple Black panther (the panther is capable of the magical equivalent of the camouflauge tech that the section uses, and has the same weaknesses, (meaning that Batou can still spot her) and she can only use this ability in spirit form- Athletics, martial arts
Asura- huge crane made of metal, both a reference to Hideo Kuze and the fact that it suits her- Acting, dance, espionage- JONIN
Erikla- A /huge/ white eagle, because air is the element of intelligence and that's her strength- Technology
Kushira- Sunbear, a huge golden bear with flaming paws- Heavy Combat- JONIN

How Seita met Saito, Isai met Togusa and Batou met Kairi....

Basically, Kushira managed to make it through the portal a few days after Aramaki's collapse. Unfortunately the rift still hadn't totally closed and while they were in the right place, at the right time, it scattered the lot of them across the city. ZP, Kushira and Asura all found each other with ease because of their cyberbrains. But the genin will have a harder time.

Meanwhile, Section 9 is tracking the "Shadow Hacker" who's steadily leaving a trail of victims in his wake. He survived the blast because he was still encased in VR, right where the Chief had left him years ago. Because he technically has no body, there's nothing for the backlash to kill and he's basically like the puppet master, only, he /was/ originally alive.

The Major, Togusa and Erikla are sent off to investigate one of two simultaneous attacks. Batou is after the other.

Seita meanwhile, being seita, has come to the brilliant deduction that if he goes to the highest building in the area and uses his still developing thunder eye, he might spot his missing friends. He makes it to HQ to the roof to find Pazu and Saito on cigarrette and lunch breaks respectively. Seita decides that an ambush at arrow point with the thunder eye active might be a good way to extract information about where he was and prepares said ambush on the two of them.

Meanwhile, since Kairi's spirit form, a lithe dark black and purple panther has the magical equivalent of thermoptic camoflauge (sp.) she's using it to stay hidden from the rest of the city. She needs to find a remote terminal to make sure she's exactly where she was trying to get to. What she doesn't realize is that Batou can see through cameoflauged screens with his eye implants. Meaning that he can, if he uses the right program, spot Kairi moving past him. The Tachikoma he's with spots her first. <Mr. Batou, how big do kitties get?> Once Batou's spotted Kairi he goes over to watch her attempting to use the terminal with paws and claws, nearly impossible and very slow. Normal animals do not try to use computers, this much is true. So he grabs her by the scruff of the neck.

Kairi shrieks, becomes visible, and tries to squirm away. In that instant just a liiiiittle bit of Valkire power breaks free and he has a premonition of Kairi going full body. So he figures she'd be safer with the section rather than out on her own and brings the now fully human Kairi back with him.

I haven't decided how Isai meets Togusa yet, it will, however, involve books, hiding, and a debate about the merits of using a Colt vs using a Mantaba (sp)

CONCEPT GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS

Basically, in the inter, when a gatekeeper or valkire is up for being tapped, after the decision on who makes it and who hasn't has been reached the valkire and gatekeepers will use different songs at the school dances to pass on who's been picked. For example for Erikla it was "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off" by Panic! At the Disco.

In addition, in the memory sequences the memories of dances will almost always involve important communications between resident gatekeepers and valkire. They ALL go there, to a. identify new keepers/valkire b. pass on news about tapping, and c. pass on new intelligence and orders.

The note is pinned to Delphine and Rangiku's door, so that its immediately noticable upon opening it, and this soon after breakfast, with everybody heading off to training or tasks, not many people are likely to be about to spot it.

Dear Delphine and Rangiku,
I'm writing to say I'm sorry. I know I was mean to you Giku, and Del... I'm sorry I hurt you... I hope you two are happy together. Del, I love you and I'm sorry things didn't work out between us.

Giku-chan, Lately I've felt like I'm being pulled in so many different directions that I'll tear apart. I always thought that my family life sucked and that my father was gone. Not only do I find out he's alive and his "condition" but that he's too afraid I'll hate him to reveal who he is to me. The only reason why I figured it out is because he called me by the pet name he used to use when i was 5. I had only recently recovered from the incident at the Canyon.

I had come to Niihama hoping to get a handle with my technopathy and find out some part of my father's story, since his first posting was here. I hadn't seen Motoko in three years and I was hoping for just an ordinary relaxing visit. Rule of thumb with Section 9, ordinary and relaxing aren't in the dictionary. Rule of thumb with gatekeepers, see rule of thumb with Section 9. Now the Shadow Hacker is slaughtering innocent people, literally taking over their minds and then blowing their brains out when he doesn't need them anymore, making the collection of evidence difficult.

Worse? He's using them to attack the people that I care about most. And its only a matter of time before he finds a more effective meathod to attack our people, maybe even attempt another hack to kill like he did to Aramaki shortly after I arrived. I don't want that to happen. They're good people and don't deserve what that stinking SOB is trying to do to them.

Gaining Soul Reaper Powers just added to the stress. I'm not so upset about them anymore, when i'm done here I'll probably practice with them a bit, get used to them, and there are worse things to be.

And then there's you. I'm not angry at you anymore, even if I do try to act gruff. You love Del, you didn't want to see her hurting. I wouldn't have. I hope you can consider me a friend.

I have other issues too, although those will probably be made public in the next couple of days or so. Probe my aura if you don't believe me. But don't /say/ anything until I do. Okay maybe to Delphine, but I wasn't exactly aware of what was going on and started acting like an idiot. I'm sorry, it wasn't your fault.

Del, I love you, with all my heart and I always will. But the past is the past, and real love is knowing that you can't push somebody into doing something they don't want to do, and that you can't screw up what you have in the present to go back to the past, because now is precious... Tears ripple the paper, dry now, the ink blurred. I hope you'll still consider me a friend. You're a wonderful person. I'm proud to know you, and I'm proud to have loved you, and if I could love you, ZP and the Major at once I would. Please don't let what happened with Dex ruin you! Be happy with Rangiku!

I'll find a way to make amends, to both of you, even if it takes me until the end of my days.

The signature is very, very blurred and shaken, as though the hand that had written it was trembling with sobs and the paper soaked with tears. But the tiny blue dragon's pawprint drawn by the signature is more than enough to say who wrote it.

the note is slid on top of ZP's pillow, but hidden under the blankets of the cot so that the curious eye won't see it and hide itself. Indeed, a magic user might notice that the paper's been spelled to shock anybody but ZP who tries to open it. If tears littered the one sent to Delphine and Rangiku, even more of them stain this one. Perhaps ZP's eyes would have been able to read the text, but most people wouldn't have its so blurred.

ZP
I'm sorry I was so mean to you. I was completely out of sorts and totally under stress. I had no right to treat you that way. I do care about you, Hell, I love you, more than words can say. If I could extend my link to include both you and Motoko I would, and I /am/ going to ask around to see if I /can/ extend it safely. I will not, however, be in a position to even ask for maybe another month or more.

If you need help, or you need somebody to talk to, or somebody hard headed to go to bat for you, talk to me please. I... I heard you'll have to go away soon. I want to know you, one of the most intelligent most amazing people I've ever met, before you're gone. And if I could you wouldn't have to go at all. Nobody should take the burdens that a gatekeeper has to bear and bear them alone, let alone the sole keeper for her planet and the last of a people that struggled valiently to live. Nobody should have to stand alone against that. Don't let yourself.

The Shadow Hacker's silence has me worried, he's plotting and I want to be able to protect everybody when he /does/ move and I don't know if I can, that and the crap over my dad, the sudden gain in powers and ability range from the reaching, I guess between all of that I've just been jittery, on edge, and yes, a little frightened. Yeah, me, frightened, go figure. Everybody thinks I'm fearless. I'm not.

By this point whatever feeling was added, plus the signature is illegible, as if somebody who was in tears had put their head down on the writing desk, the salty torrents making the words illegible beyond that.

GATEKEEPING ETHICS

Rules on cloning:

Cloning humans is immoral and unethical for the following reasons.

~Clones share DNA and bodies. They are carbon copies of the original. Bodies are manufactured to hold a specific soul, and no other. By making a copy, one of two things can happen:
~The body remains soulless, creating an empty shell
OR
~The soul is split between the living bodies, creating two bodies of, what is in
essense, the same person.

~Cloning because of this is taboo. Clones themselves are considered less than human. While this may seem cruel, it is with good reason. Clones are not unique individuals, and share the true name of the original, along with the soul. While they may seem independent, in the grand scheme, they can be manipulated just as the original may be manipulated. This classifies them as sub-human.
Interpretation: If clones are sub-human, the first statement of these ethics does not apply, and therefore, clones themselves may be cloned. ((The trick, of course, is where does the original CLONE come from? ~_^))

~As of the current time, no cloning technique has been perfected for the simple reason that cloning is illegal, and the group with the best resources, the gatekeepers, refuse to actually attempt it.

~Even those clones for whom the original has died out and no others exist, are not considered unique. They are not the original, and are still therefore not considered human, but are still classifed under sub-human.

~Cloning for the purpose of replacing a gatekeeper's limbs or a valkire's is still considered immoral. It is not proper to create an individual, even a sub-human, only for the purpose of using them and ultimately destroying them.

~Following on the last point made, cloning taxes a soul by spliting it into pieces. This can cause stress and ultimately destroy the soul, another reason cloning humans is unethical.

~Exceptions to the rules: Animal gatekeepers or valkire, as well as magical equivalents, also fall under these rules.

Doncha love how ZP is somehow exempt from all of these rules?

Byron. Byron's relatively young for a Bounto, he kept his head down and was a traveling artist for almost the 200 years of his life. He only got his doll relatively recently, when attempting to gut Kariya's compound in search of useful materials for his sculpture he found the book with instructions on how to make one, and followed them exactly to make it work. He was fortunate in avoiding injury. Byron is also slender and small enough that he can avoid detection easily. Ririn, who seems like she's that much sharper than the other two Bounto sensing mods, could ride around on Ichigo's shoulders for hours and he'd still evade her. She'd sense his spirit energy, but physically he'd be nowhere to be seen.

Danu. Byron's doll is named for a Celtic goddess, she's the essance of a loving mother bear. And she's just as protective of Byron. The seal Byron uses are a series of arm and leg guards that sync his movements to Danu. He moves, she moves with him, until eventually their movements become mirror images of each other. The two of them really only have brute power on their side, that and claws as long and sharp as hunting knives. But Danu can leave DENTS, in steel. Who do you think breaks apart some of the scrap metal that a slight boy like Byron uses for his blacksmithing?

Odd stuff will start happening once Takato comes on the scene. Every time Gwen's knocked out in battle with Aizen, Ichimaru, or Tousen, or against one of the Arrancar in Aizen's employ, the area is found demolished and Gwen knocked out, but otherwise unharmed. The area, however, is riddled with razor sharp cherry blossoms and tengu feathers.

This is future Gwen in all but one case, and this is marked by the symbol that Sakura taisho leaves, the crest of the Ryunami clan. Carved in sapphire, a dragon, a tengu, and a surprisingly Camou looking liger ring the ninth division symbol. These are /literally/ carved into a sapphire and then slammed into the surface nearest Gwen, a tree or a wall. Kinda like Zoro's 'Z'.

The one case, all three of the "evil captains' jump Gwen at once. She can't fight them, and is knocked out.

Seiryuu, Gwen's old Tengu form, and Saeyamaru take hold at once. They transform her into bankai, informing the shinigami watching the battle that they, not Gwen, are in control to protect her and that Gwen won't remember any of it when she wakes up.

Because Seiryuu's in the equation, Gwen has feathery sapphire wings this time, not dragon ones, poking out of her armor. And three attacks, I need names for them, but I know how they'll look.

1. Gwen charges in, wings flat to her back, a ji thrust forward. It breaks down any barrier, but cannot change direction.

2. sea water, cherry blossoms, and tengu feathers shoot towards the enemy, chilling, cutting, and stinging painfully, similar to a pokemon tri attack.

3. Gwen's wings turn razor sharp and grow in length and power. The legs of her steed tuck up under it, and she rushes in the direction of her foe midair. This technique could potentially cut an opponent in half.

Gwen first witnesses Ukitake sick after he'd promised to take her to one of his investigations into the now abandoned chamber of 46 to help him, the whats their name 3rd seats, Kyoraku and Nanao check what other damage Aizen might have done. And he can't. She gets pissed and calls in a favor at Niihama for enough cipro to knock the TB out (one a day for a year, ech), walks into the little room where Ukitake's sleeping, Unohana keeping watch outside, and growls as she slams the bottle down on the bedside to get his attention. "I don't want this attack to be the unlucky one. Take these, consider them a gift."

First, some concepts that have bothered me...

The way I always pictured it, a gatekeeper's soul looks different from a normal one in that the heart surrounds the core, but the two remain seperated.

Gatekeepers or valkire who are completely hollowfied lose their powers and their former identities are undetectable as such until they disclose their former status. They do, however, retain their memories and knowlege, their powers are far stronger than an ordinary hollow of their type, and they still have their cores. They're comparable to Manticores of midevil legend, highly intelligent, highly powerful and highly volitile. Each one also has some kind of quirk, which becomes more pronounced the older they are.

And many of them are extremely old. If they exist in that state long enough, they become nearly impossible to kill. Uryu's arrows would just bounce /right/ off of the one I have in mind, Ramshi. Shikai or higher attacks would be the only thing that could destroy them. Worse, the spirit of the human is left, chainless and with a hole, until a valkire returns to collect them. And if a valkire doesn't come, like a shadow they reform and come back.

Arrancar gatekeepers or valkire have the same powers as a normal Arrancar, but their spirit forms tend to be almost like darker versions of their guardian deity, their guardians are almost always hunting, wild wood, darkness, or war deities, any god or goddess that embodies something primal in the universe and has connections with darkness, Karma, or the night, the form appearing in silver armor or varying that their deity would have worn. Their skin becomes black, and their hair and eyes change to their spirit color.

For example Grimmjow's hair would remain teal, but his eyes would follow the shade, his skin would turn black. His mask would change from bone to silver and he'd don silver armor shaped like his deity's rather than his released state.

But here's the /real/ ringer. The common trait that's a weakness to one and a confusing but potential strength and salvation for the other. Their hearts are gone, but their cores remain. Over time their cores rewire themselves to take the place of a heart. The hole remains, but there's still human emotion growing in there. If left alone, tapped Arrancar become unstable, if guided, cared for, trained, this trait could potentially heal them mentally and help Grimmjow and Ulquiorra escape from Aizen. You just have to knock them over the head enough times with it.

But for a Hollow, remorse and anguish are not things you want to feel. In that form you /eat/ people, feeling remorse is either going to get you starved to death or killed by another Hollow, shot by a Quincy or (hopefully) purified by a Shinigami. But mentally they're still human, and still end up feeling the hurt that comes from causing another human pain.

Hollows are also, for some reason, not interested in eating Celestial Dragons. Other keepers, regular people with spiritual energy, soul reapers, they'll eat those. But not Celestial Dragons. The aura that a C-drag gives off is like catnip for them, it negates their instinct to kill. The reason is simple, they're deities on Earth, powerful, quirky, eccentric, but unless provoked they're pretty much benevolent. Plus, the Celestial Dragons have another role, their cores act as conduits for elemental energy to flow into the universe.

If a Hollow encounters a C-drag, they get curious, they sniff or nudge or peer, and they sense that energy flowing like a river rather than radiating like heat. They're beings of self interest and its against their interest to stop that flow, plus the fact that its there just feels good to them. They can absorb the excess, but that flow stops if they eat him/her. Once they sense the flow, and are sure the dragon in question isn't going to hurt them, they'll practically do whatever that C-drag asks. Something that every shinigami is sure to find alarming.

I had an idea that Gwen could discover this when the Hollow spirit of a former Jonin for this world (Ramshi, for Aries the Ram and Shi for Shishi dog) finds her, and instead of trying to eat her, actually talks to her. He explains the concepts above, and then when the Shinigami pick up his signal they find Gwen riding on his head by the river, indian style. Ramshi finally gets tired, Gwen slides down, and Ramshi starts to go to sleep, soothed by the water energy coming off of Gwen. Before he goes to sleep her mutters. "Shinigami keeper, if you see my old apprentice Sousuke, tell him to stay out of trouble." Revealing exactly how a hollow knew so much.

Jinchu Classes......
Jinchuriki-A person with a demon, spirit, or Kami sealed inside of them. They exist in classes, just like Hollows, ranking them in order of powerlevel. They obey elements, though the added element, Negative, is only theoretical and entails a Hollow or Arrancar sealed within.

Jinchu class-members

Demon class- Naruto tailed beasts, these can be subdued by the Akatsuki and their creature sealed within the statue (as Gaara was with Shukaku), but this is not easily done.

Demi class- Referring to Demi Gods and Goddesses, not Demi Hollows, this class includes spirits, deities, and beings that had to be sealed in order to save their lives. The Jinchuriki in this class are more powerful, but cannot transform. If an Inu-Yasha type demon were sealed into a human's body, (heaven forbid) the resulting Jinchu would go in this class.

Circuit Class- The sealed form of elementals go in here. Elementals are not always positive entities. Since Spirit is an element, Postitive Spirit and Negative Spirit elementals enter into here as well. Angels or Guardians, Hollows or Arrancar, in theory, could be classed here. But no case of this has of yet been found. More likely are Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Lightening, Metal, Wood, etc.

Zodiac Class-Mythical monsters and figures, sealed away for centuries, have shrines hidden at the far ends of the strand. Zodiac class Jinchu are servents of the Celestial Dragons, they exist to protect them. These are creatures who's shrines essentially pin down the threads in the strand. Therefore each dimension has two. A Ying and a Yang. The Ying Yang talismens and fetishes gain their power from these shrines, but not necessarily get their properties from this class.

Celestial Class- Gwen and co go in here. While their power is great, the longer they retain their celestial powers, the less humanity remains. Their genetics, their biology, as well as their behavior alters, and during the alteration becomes relatively unstable. After about three years, however, the changes have taken hold, and will only continue to grow when there is a jump in the Celestial Dragon's Core power.

The Level Above Vasto Lorde

"We are the Enforcers, your master has committed an Infraction, stand aside or you will be obliterated."

Benten completely controls the Arrancar who have reached this level. Its known as Enforcer, or Ascension Level. These Arrancar are completely unbeatable, and are only called in for the most extreme situations, ones that normal gatekeepers, or even celestial dragons, would be unable to handle. They are stronger, even than the Astralgator, and not even she is immune.

If an ordinary gatekeeper cannot get close to someone to be restrained, or if a person's gatekeeper powers are to be sealed completely because they pose a danger to the rest of their world and the other gatekeepers (like Aizen) the Enforcers are called in. Likewise, Enforcers are called in to lift the same seal.

Enforcers always work in groups of two, each are polar opposites of an extreme, such as fire and water, wind and earth, light and darkness.

The spirit particles of their bodies have excellerated beyond the normal level, sort of like the plasma state of matter. Because of this they can phase through solid walls, even seki seki rock is no barrier to them.

Their zanpakuto are always black, with a jewel symbolizing their respective pole on the pommel. These blades also double as a gatekey, you will not find one on their body.

The Enforcers are the oldest Arrancar in history. They are as old as Hueco Mundo themselves, and can travel at supersonic speeds, able to traverse hundreds of miles in less than a day. They have feet, but due to their excellerated spirit particles, while you can see as far down their bodies as their hole, from about the chest down, their bodies appear fuzzy, as if they're hovering, almost like they aren't there. Their masks will always cover opposite sides of their faces from their partner.

Enforcers also speak and act in a very bizzare fashion, usually introducing themselves as "we" rather than "I." The use of the multiple case is very confusing for those who don't know what they're looking at. They are also terrifying, and they are experts at concealing their spirit power. Despite the fact that when completely unleashed, a single pair could demolish the entire los Noches compound, they very rarely need to use this much power.

Enforcers rarely need to use their released forms in battle, instead, their claws are sharper than titanium, and capable of shredding through three feet of tempered steel. They use them in a manner very similar to Inu-Yasha's "Iron Reaver Soul Stealer" attack, moving at a blitz attack speed and usually slashing an opponent in half in the process. Likewise, their Bara and Cero Blast Attacks are fast enough that the former cannot be seen until its struck, and the latter appears as a shooting starlike blur.

When they have caught their target, Enforcers fly in a huge circle, building up a shield that contains and bounds their target's power. They may or may not engage their released form, and they will ram their target repeatedly while they're flying their circle. Each ram knocks away a portion of their target's spiritual pressure, weakening them until magical static has built up in the air. This static forms a net, and within the net's confines the two enforcers will reveal their hands and run through a series of kata's that cause the restraining charm/armband/whatever to materialize and activate.

The free will and or sentience of Enforcers is questionable. They always refer to themselves as "We." Only Benten knows for certain, but its believed that when an Arrancar reaches Enforcer level, they become part of a hive mind, with a control Queen and King in the center.

These factors make the appearance of Enforcers exceedingly rare, they will target Aizen to place restraints on him, and they will target Delphine's so called Rebel (you want them to lose or draw, your choice.) But most of the time the leave the rest of the worlds alone.

Amaya Skylark

Rank: Genin
Familiars: Chimchar (Busta) Spinerak (Swinger)
Firelizard: Green Verde
Horse: A black and white appaloosa workhorse, named Scatter. Scatter is kept in the stables at Pernbase unless Amaya needs her.
Hobbies: Plays Guitar, accoustic, ink and brush panting, horseback riding, cooking

Hair: Long black
Eyes: Inky black
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 110 lbs.
Age: 15

Amaya is what could be called a miracle among gatekeepers. She is, indeedey, an Uchiha, with an interesting story to her name. Two native American gatekeepers had friends within the Uchiha clan, Amaya's parents. They were visiting the day of the Uchiha massacre. If Amaya's father, an accomplished Nin, hadn't detected Itachi coming, five minutes away, Amaya wouldn't have come out alive. He told them to take her and run.

Amaya's memory was then reconstructed by Benten, if anyone asked, she was born to the Skylark family, who ran a ranch and were of Navajo descent. She assisted in running tourist trips to the Anasazi ruins. And it was during one such run that she was tapped, and she and her horse Scatter was brought to Amestris.

She didn't get along with the Amestrian way of life. But she was willing to try. She impressed a little green firelizard named Verde. After learning hand to hand combat, after learning basic alchemy, Amaya went to the Pokemon world. In Sinnoh she was given her Chimchar, Busta. She caught her Spinerak, Swinger. She got a contest ribbon as her treasure.

And then she went to the DC universe to stay with the Titans and hone her skills for a few weeks. That became trouble. Slade was cut loose for a short period, allowed to act independant as he wasn't "On Duty." Slade was very interested in Amaya, and Amaya got kidnapped. But just as the Titans found her, Amaya was locked in combat. And her eyes were whirling red.

The sharingan. Nobody could tell whether it was due to ancestral reaching or if it was the case of a refugee. However, after scanning Amaya's mind Raven suggested that it be best if Amaya go to Konohagakure.

Here we go...
