Jei woke up to his mother screaming at him to get out of bed. He just turned over and put the covers over his head. " Mom, what is it? I don't have anything going right now. Leave me alone." He didn't really listen to what she went on about since he knew it was just some non sense that she'll forget in a few hours away. He plugged his ears and tried to get some sleep. A few hours later, his mother came back into the room.

" Get out of bed! NOW!!!!!!!"

Without warning, Jei found himself being dragged out of bed. " What in gods name...." Jei rubbed his eyes and looked around. The clock said it was noon. Knowing them, they just wanted him out of bed. They always hated how he sleeps in all the time, even when there was nothing to do. They said he should find things to do. Jei didn't really like the idea of finding something to do. He would much rather sleep in and do nothing.

" Why don't you go to the Academy? You might meet some of your old friends."

He looked at her and just shrugged his shoulders. He really didn't make any friends at the place. He was just there most of the time, doing whatever his teachers told him and not really getting into the mix of things. He knew a few of the guys, but Jei wasn't the type to go out of his way to do something. He just waved for his mom to get out of his room as he got dressed. He couldn't believe he was having to go back to the damn Academy after he finished school weeks before.

" Whatever, I'll be back tonight."

He walked out of the house and made his way toward the Academy. He didn't know what he was going to do there. He could think of a few pranks to do with his former senseis, but that was getting old. He just sighed and walked towards the building.

Tenshi twirled a kunai around on his finger out of boredum. He didn't really feel like training himself now, he just wanted to take a break. The teen leaned against the wall of the academy, tossing the knife up into the air before catching it by the handle. He was sort of practicing catching the kunai with his finger again, but he was nowhere near being able to do that. He sighed and placed the kunai back in the empty slot on his belt, looking around slowly. Normally, he didn't get bored that easily, but lately, he'd had nothing to do.

Geez...well, I might as well just go home...

The young shinobi stuffed his hands into his jacket pockets and began walking towards his home, humming quietly. He didn't know what there was to do at his house, but he figured he'd find something to pass the time. On the way back, he passed a fellow student, though for a moment, the guys name escaped him. Then, he remembered it. Saito Jei. He didn't know that much about the guy, only that he was kind of lazy, or so it appeared, they'd never really talked much.

Tenshi removed a hand from his pocket and waved to him out of courtesy, but he just kept walking. Then, he stopped, turning to face the passing shinobi. "Hey, Jei!" he called, a grin on his face. "You look bored...you wanna spar me? I promise I'll go easy on you." That last part was added just to sweeten the pot. He figured that no one could step back from a challenge like that. He knew that he wouldn't.

Jei was making his way towards the Academy when he saw someone walking his way. He saw the wave and just nodded his head so he could at least show some manners. Of course, this kid had to stop and start talking to him.

"Hey Jei," " You look bored....you wanna spar me? I promise I'll go easy on you."

Jei just stopped for a second and looked at the kid up and down. Was he serious? Oh well, Jei might have been lazy but he did have some pride rolled into him. He just shrugged his shoulders and said in a sacrastic tone " Sure, go easy on me." He smirked and looked to the courtyard where they would train while at school. It looked like a good enough spot.

He just started making his way over towards the area. He had brought his pouch of weapons, which consisted of a few kunais and nothing else. He didn't bring his bokken with him, seeing as how that was just asking for unwanted training. Well, he got unwanted training anyhow! Oh well.

He just turned to face this kid. He tried to remember his name, but was coming up with blanks. " Errrr, what's your name again?" He tried to remember how good this guy was. He wasn't really paying attnetion to anyone else, but he did catch a few skillful people here and there. He didn't think this guy was as good as he put on, but who was Jei to question.

He just waited for an answer, looking as bored as ever.

A grin spread across Tenshi's face as he followed Jei to the main courtyard. If nothing else, this would help him pass the time. He blinked at the question about his name, looking Jei over, trying to tell if he was serious. "Uh...it's Tenshi. Shino Tenshi." The shinobi removed his jacket and dropped it to the ground, revealing a pair of tonfa that were strapped to his back.

"Don't worry, I won't use those," he said, popping his knuckles a few times and adjusting his forehead protector, which, as the name implied, was on his forehead. He looked his opponent over, trying to remember his speciality. He seemed to recall that Jei focused more on Ninjutsu, but he wasn't sure, he'd been more focused on his Taijutsu training.

"Tell you what," the shinobi began, dropping into a fighting stance. "I'll let you start. Don't want to beat you too early." That was actually to gauge his opponent's skill, he wanted to know what he was up against before he began the battle.

" I bet...."

Jei just shrugged his shoulders and took off his own jacket. He tossed it to the side and revealed his black combat vest. It was clear the the vest had padding in it to absorb punches and kicks. He may be lazy when it comes to training, but Jei was no push over about sparring. He just wasn't in the mood half of the time. Oddly enough, he found himself wanting to spar now. It was something to keep him busy and his mother out of his hair. Course, this would give him something to hold over his parents head to. They can't keep telling him he doesn't try to become better. He is sparring! Yeah, chew on that!

Tenshi dropped into his fighting stance and Jei just yawned as he dashes straight toward the genin. He went into his pouch and grabbed the handle of one of his kunai. He just threw the kunai straight for Tenshi and followed up the first attack with a simple straight jab straight for the left cheek of Tenshi. He might have been a Ninjutsu major, but he wasn't scared about getting himself into a hand to hand combat battle. He just didn't have any fancey moves, but he wasn't looking for style points.

That would come later.

Tenshi watched the kunai come his way and grinned, snapping his hand out and grabbing it's handle before it could get to him. He wasn't ready for the punch, though, and got caught in the jaw as a result. Jei was pretty quick on his feet, maybe not as fast as Tenshi was, but still fast. As the punch sunk in, the shinobi spun himself around and raised his foot, aiming his heel at Jei's face.

Regardless of whether or not that hit, he would jump back from his opponent, twirling the stolen kunai around on his fingertip, a grin on his face. It wasn't that he enjoyed fighting, but he did welcome any opporotunity to improve himself as a shinobi. Now that the 'warm-up' was completed, he'd start taking things seriously. "You're pretty fast," he said, throwing the kunai to the ground, where it stuck. That being accomplished, he charged Jei, throwing a fist at his opponent's kidney. He didn't care if Jei was wearing some kind of body armor, should it connect, that punch would still hurt.

Jei found himself being kicked across the face, which caused him to twist around for a moment. He regained his footing and just wiped a bit of blood that seemed to leak from his bottom lip. He's faster.... Jei knew that getting into a true hand to hand combat fight with this guy was going to put him in a hole, quick. He would have to relay on his strengths.

Tenshi charged once more and went for a body shot at Jei's kidney. He knew his own gear and having already gotten hit once, knew that he could take a shot in order to get in set up for his next series of attacks. The fist rammed into his side and Jei just sucked up the pain and thrusted his head forward in a direct headbutt.

He was trying to get Tenshi up close and focusing on the attack, so he couldn't dodge the headbutt. The headbutt was aim to strike Tenshi directly under his eye to knock him backwards and keep him from seeing Jei.

If he was able to do this, Jei will quickly quickly the headbutt up with a jutsu.

" Bunshin no jutsu!"

In the chaos, Jei was going to get Tenshi to not be able to see which one was real and which one was fake. He would charge the genin, zig-zagging around to confuse him even more.

Again, his opponent's attack caught him off guard. Tenshi stumbled back as the headbutt found it's mark. He grabbed his nose, muttering something that probably wasn't fit to be repeated and stumbling back. "That was a cheap shot," he gurgled before removing his hands from his face. He wasn't bleeding, but that wasn't much of a condolance.

It was then that Tenshi noticed he was surrounded by Jei's. Clones. And he didn't know which one was real. "Well, this sucks. Oh, well." The shinobi reached back and yanked his tonfa out of their respective holsters, spinning them around in his hands. "I lied. I am going to use these." Grinning, he began swinging them around as fast as he could, which was actually pretty quick. His targets were whatever Jei's happened to be in the area around him. The clones would merely vanish should they be hit, but the real Jei...he would be hurting. Hey, this was just a spar, but he wasn't about to lose. He wouldn't improve any if he lost.

The boy grabbing the tonfas made it clear on what was happening. Jei had the upper hand and Tenshi wasn't talking big anymore. That was all Jei asked for really. He could care less about winning, but just showing this guy not to overlook him like he tried to do. Jei might be lazy at times, but he knew what to do when he wanted to do something.

On with the fight! The clones just pounced Tenshi like there was no tomorrow and Tenshi went to work on hitting them. Course, the real Jei wasn't in the mix. No, he had slipped behind Tenshi and was attempting to catch Tenshi from behind as he defended against the frontal assault.

Jei planted his left hand against the grass and lifted his body towards the sky in an attempt to plant his right foot directly against the side of Tenshi's head. The disappearing clones and the already attacking ones should give the genin enough cover to sneak in and get a nice hit in. Course, this plan wasn't flawless. Jei was just assuming Tenshi wasn't going to see him.

Something was off...so far, he'd hit nothing but clones. The real Jei was either incredibly well hidden...or...Tenshi suddenly spun around in an attempt to confirm his theory. He saw the foot heading his way and leaned his head back, the kick. That was too close. Tenshi jumped up over the clones and landed behind them, spinning his weapons around in his hands. In retrospect, though, that wasn't all that smart of a move, because he'd lost the real Jei in his clones again.

Well, that was stupid...now he can hide in his clones again...

The shinobi sighed and slid his tonfa back into their holsters before snagging the kunai off of his belt and throwing them at the masses of Jei's in front of him. He didn't really care if they'd hit or not, he was actually working on another plan. He wasn't a master strategist, but he wouldn't lose. That just wasn't in him. Tenshi shot toward the large tree in front of the academy, leaping up into it's branches. What he was about to do wasn't his technique, but still...

"Bunshin no Jutsu," he whispered. Three clones popped up near him. Tenshi looked over at them, nodding. He leapt out of the tree along with his clones, falling down toward whatever Jei's were left. He didn't have any idea if this would work, but he had to try.

The only problem Jei had with his clones was the fact that he couldn't keep them going for a long period of time. Lucky for him, Tenshi hopped into a tree. The remaining clones disappeared and then Tenshi came back down with some clones of his own! Well, the tables kinda turned on little ole Jei.

" Oh joy, how ironic...."

He just chuckled and tried to pick out the real Tenshi. Course, he didn't know how to do it, so he just guessed. He had a 25% chance of getting it right? It wasn't good odds but whatever. He just charged the four figures and attacked the one to his left(on the outside) with a roundhouse kick to the head. If this wasn't the right one, Jei would quickly land and attack the next one down with an open palm thrust. Course, if this one wasn't right? He was pretty much going to be screwed.

Jei picked wrong. Tenshi was the one on the inner right. A grin spread across the shinobi's face as he launched a punch at his opponents jaw. Jei had gotten close, he knew that, but he'd gotten lucky, and he wouldn't pass up an opportunity to do some damage. Regardless of whether the punch hit, the young ninja would jump back and cause his other clone to vanish back into the nothingness that it came from.

"I didn't give you enough credit, Jei," he said, smiling at his opponent. "You're pretty good. But don't think I'll lose!" Again, he launched himself at the other shinobi, leaving a cloud of dust behind him. He jumped into the air as he neared Jei, pulling his leg back and aiming a flying kick straight at his jaw. Of course, Jei could counter that simple manuver in a number of ways, but whether or not he did remained to be seen.

Jei was hit dead in the jaw, which caused him to hit the ground and roll a few times. He quickly jumped to his feet and rubbed his jaw. Ouch... He looked at Tenshi and shrugged his shoulders " You're not half bad yourself."

Jei watched as Tenshi came at him. He quickly ducked under the attack and planted both his hands on the ground as he rose his lower body in an attempt to kick Tenshi while performing a hand spring. Even if Tenshi was able to dodge the move, Jei had set himself up to do the hand spring and twist around to face Tenshi.

He was thinking of using his other jutsu on Tenshi, but he didn't want to go that far in just a spar. He might pull it out if things looked like he would lose.

Tenshi's eyes widened some as he realized what Jei was about to do. He spun himself around as much as he could, but still got hit on his arm. He twisted around and landed back on the ground, shaking his arm to get the pain out of it. The teen grinned at Jei, popping his neck. He was having serious fun with this. If this were a real fight, though, he wouldn't be holding anything back.

A few moments after his landing, he dashed at Jei, sliding to a halt in front of him. "Leaf Spinning Wind!" he cried as he jumped into the air, spinning and aiming a kick at Jei's face. This was an attempt to knock him opponent into the air. Should that happen, he would try to follow it up with a punch to Jei's spine as he fell back down to the ground.

By the time Jei turned around to face Tenshi, the genin was already attacking! Well, the pace of the fight was up beat and fast. Jei liked it a lot. He was suddenly hit in the air and then in the spine! "Ouch!!" Jei cried out in pain as he hit the ground once more.

" Son of a..."

The pain in his back was something that Jei hadn't felt in awhile. He tried to suck it up as he slowly got to his feet. The vest had absorbed some of the punch but it did hurt, a lot. Crap, he couldn't afford to take another hit like that.

Jei wasn't in the shape to go attacking Tenshi at the moment. He would regain himself and let Tenshi come to him. He wasn't about to let some back pain stop him from contining this fight.

I might have to use it.....

Tenshi grinned as both of his attacks connected, and solidly at that. That had to do some damage to his opponent. The shinobi jumped back away from his fallen foe, preparing for any counter attack that Jei might throw his way. But it didn't look like Jei would be getting back to his feet, at least not right away. This could be a ploy, or he could really be down for the count. Tenshi shook his head, deciding that it was the former. He didn't know all that much about Jei, but he knew that his opponent wouldn't be kept down by those attacks.

Do I wait or...ah, screw it. Waiting wasn't his philosophy. He hit hard and fast. It might not have been the most honorable thing to do, but in battle, one took the chances that were presented. This was a chance to end the fight. Glancing around, Tenshi grabbed the kunai he'd stuck in the ground earlier, charging at him once again. He wasn't going to kill him, but rather put the knife to Jei's neck to indicate that the fight was over and that Tenshi was the victor.

Jei was still feeling the sharp pain in his back. He didn't want to admit it but that really hurt. He would have to end the fight. He couldn't move around without a pain shooting through his lower back. Should I? Well, I have no choice. He watched Tenshi charge and knew this was the idea spot to release his best jutsu.

"Katon Goukakyuu no Jutsu!!"

Jei quickly did a series of hand seals and placed his hand at the tip of his mouth as he released a giant fireball straight for the incoming Tenshi. The blast covered a good four foot span and if Tenshi didn't try to flee? He would be hit dead on. Jei had preformed the jutsu a bit early, just to give his fellow genin enough to get out of a direct hit. Even a partly hit move would surely knock Tenshi out of the fight, or least give both of them something to think about while planning the next attack.

It was a gamble, one that caused Jei to be drained of most of his chakra. He awaited the outcome of the blast.

The what and the what and the what now?

By the time Tenshi had processed what his opponent had just done, the fireball had nearly connected with him. He just barely spun out of the way, but the heat of the blaze knocked him off his feet. The shinobi hit the ground, rolling for a few feet before propping himself up on one knee, breathing deeply. He hadn't seen that coming, but he wouldn't have been able to stop it, anyway. He was just lucky to be alive, he figured.

"That was...pretty good..." he muttered, though there was a smile on his face. That was a good lesson to keep in mind; expect the unexpected. He hadn't, and he'd paid the price. "Well...are we done? Can you even more anymore? I can, but just barely..."

Jei just grabbed his ribcage and smirked " I'll live, but I used up the rest of my chakra on that blast." He figured he would have some bruising in the morning, but he escaped any serious injury because of his vest. He laughed at the thought that his father's bitching finally proved to be useful.

" How bout we call this one a draw? I don't see the harm in doing that...."

He just walked over towards Tenshi and put his hand out in a form of a hand shake. Jei didn't drop his guard, but he didn't think Tenshi was the type to try to strike him at a time like this.

Though, one could never be sure.

Tenshi nodded and shook Jei's hand, handing him the kunai he was holding. "That's yours, I think, and a draw is fine." The shinobi got back to his feet, ignoring the pain that the heat of his opponents fireball had inflicted upon him. It wasn't intense pain, more of a stinging that ran through most of his body. It'd die down, though.

The young ninja began walking around the area, grabbing up the kunai he'd thrown at Jei earlier. No point letting them just rust there. He replaced them on his belt and cracked his knuckles, looking over at Jei as he did so. "We'll have to fight again some time. But next time, there will be a winner. And it'll be me." He waved at his opponent and left the academy area, grabbing his jacket on the way. The shinobi walked back to his house to recooperate from his injuries, minor though the were. He couldn't help but feel that he'd just gained an ally...and a rival.

" Heh, I'm sure."

Jei just twirled the kunai between his fingers and nodded towards Tenshi. He watched the teen wander off and Jei grabbed his own jacket. He just needed to have a good nights rest and his wounds would heal themselves, since they were mostly bruising anyhow.

" Crap, now I have to listen to my parents more. Oh well."

He smiled and made his way back to his own home.
