Marukyru walked the bridge leading from Terra; he had seen and experienced unthinkable things there. He witnessed death…a degree of death that he had never witnessed before; he watched the mangled body parts of freshly killed corpses discarded like a Childs plaything! /Sin…what a horrible being. Glad I met him/ Marukyru smirked, but there was another thought on his mind more of a burden. /Kurisu and Kenji…I’ll have your heads soon/ Marukyru’s body shook violently as the thought of rebuilding Konoha to it’s original state sent his fury boiling over!

Marukyru adjusted the gorge on his back, which intern rattled ferociously as if it was responding to Marukyru’s passion. /I’ll meet you guys yet and when the time comes…death will be the only way to escape my wrath/ He leaned against the rail of the long bridge wondering what plight the day would bestow on him too day. The skies became engulfed in darkness as the night cast its shadow over it. The night was cold and silent maybe it was a sign of things to come

As the full moon's rays of light shone all over the bridge, Xera was leaning against a rail, facing towards the river just below her, with her arms resting on top of the bar. She sighed as she watched ripples appear on the river where the moon's reflection was shown, and then she just put her arms back down to her sides as she started walking down the bridge, away from Terra, where she just was recently.

I need to find a top-notch ninja to test my abilities on.....I don't think I've foughten a powerful ninja yet.....I need to make sure I'm strong enough to pull out my plan of action....

Grey clouds were appearing at a fast rate, slightly blocking out the light from the moon, as Xera was having trouble seeing what was in front of her. To make matters worse, mist from the river below started rising up and started hovering above the bridge, making the bridge in front of her very unclear.

"God damn it....I can't see a thing...." moaned Xera as she dragged her feet while walking sluggishly. "I just want to get out of this place...."

Up ahead, Xera saw a shadowy figure, but the darkness and fog made it hard to tell what it was, but Xera knew that it was another human-being. Xera, now walking normal, continued walking towards the figure, but as she inched forward, she slowed down her pace;just to be careful.

He must be from the the Mist Islands across the bridge or left Terra earlier than I did....

Marukyru leaned against the railed in deep thought, the burden of his people seemed to be too much for Marukyru to tolerate. With each fight he became mentally unstable and it grew harder for him to fight off the inner yearning for combat that engulfed his essence. There were times when he wanted to hang up his shuriken for good and retire from the role of Shinobi, but he loved the battles and he had duties to carry out before he could even dream of starting his ‘own’ life. /A weapon for the people…that is the Shinobi way./ Marukyru held these words to be true and self evident, for he never had the luxury of being a child he was always the last of a dieing breed. These factors were unbearable for anyone to endure but Marukyru did just that…he endured it all for so long and it brewed a deep sinister loathing in the bottom of his heart.

As Marukyru lost himself in his thoughts and the thick mist that arose onto the bridge, he managed to notice a figure approaching him from a distance. He could make out that it was a human of slender and elegant stature…maybe a Shinobi! Marukyru picked himself up off of the rail and pulled the cork from the gorge behind him, his inner thirst arose again feeding off of the adrenaline Marukyru was getting from this mysterious being. His crimson eyes grew sinister and his pupils became dilated trying to pick up on the beings indentitiy. “Show yourself…or be dealt with!” His voice was low and maniacal and his inner yearning slowly engulfed his soul.

Xera, who was ready to fight and kill just in case the shadowy figure was an assassin or something, halted about ten feet from the figure as the fog slowly faded away for a few mere moments. The first thing noticed by Xera was the darkness of the red eyes from the unknown guy that just locked onto hers.

“Show yourself…or be dealt with!”

Xera had tooken a step closer, now being about eight or so feet away from Marukyru, and then kept on looking into his eyes.

"I am showing myself," replied Xera boldly, "But you shouldn't boss people around..."

Xera shifted her gaze down lower into her neck to get away from the gaze of Marukyru's red eyes. She was waiting for him to say something else, as of right now though, she had absolutely nothing at all to say to this character.

Marukyru watched in an extreme anticipation as the figure slowly revealed itself, Marukyru adrenaline pumped throughout every vein in his body and the deep yearning for combat fed off of it. The figured finally stepped forward and spoke, its voice was soft and graceful and after stepping out of the mist a body could be seen. It was the body of a female the curves and smooth skin gave away the gender of this stranger. /Just a girl…/ Marukyru brought his heart rate back to a normal beat and once again leaned against the railing of the bridge, his inner hunger for now subsided and lay dormant in the depths of his soul. The girl was now in plain view and a very easy on the eyes, her lavender hair seemed to shimmer in the moonlight Marukyru was somewhat pleased that it wasn’t another male Shinobi there to take his life.

Marukyru’s crimson eyes examined the body of Xera looking her up and down noticing every little detail. Marukyru’s eyes then were caught off guard by something, the belt around her waist undoubtedly counseled weapons…Marukyru’s guess were kunai and shrunken. Marukyru casually folded his arms across his chest and looked down at the ground below him, all he could do was think about the lives he had taken and the lives taken around him. He realized that being a Shinobi only brought death; he couldn’t comprehend why such a burden was bestowed on such a person. “I do apologize if you feel I am a bit bossy…but let me ask you a question: Why is it that you fight?” his voice was low and sinister but his tone had changed drastically, not many people have come across the ‘Desert Demon’ and shared dialog with him.

The mist was starting to clear up a little bit more, as it seemed that the mist would subdue for a little while, just about half an hour at the most. Xera could finally see Marukyru's body clearly, and watched him as he gazed at her body. Xera was looking at his body also, noticing he was a bit taller than the average ninja, but he had a slender frame, kind of unusual for a taller ninja.

“I do apologize if you feel I am a bit bossy…but let me ask you a question: Why is it that you fight?”

"Why do I fight......" mumbled Xera to herself, trying to think of all the reasons why she wanted to fight and liked to fight. "I'm not going into extreme detail....but mainly to get stronger and make my clan a powerhouse. That's all you need to know about me..."

Xera had just stood there, with the moon's bright reflection reflecting onto the bridge and into the water. Xera's gaze shifted to the moon's reflection in the water, and eventually turned her body so that her front side leaned on the rail. She extended her left finger as it turned into a little branch and she poked the center of the reflection of the moon, and the ripples of water made the water moon disperse.

"Also, to destroy weak things.....I hate anything that is weak...." sighed Xera as she stared the water, which was calming down and the moon's reflection turned back to normal. "Enough about me, what about you?"

Marukyru was somewhat flabbergasted by the cold answer the female Shinobi gave, but at the same time he was quite satisfied with it. It would seem that no matter the gender of the person that possessed any arts of Ninjutsu the drive behind it was always the same. /This girl has to tolerate the burden of being a Shinobi…and she likes it. Probably even more then I can comprehend/ Marukyru then heard her direct the same question to him, he went into somewhat of a daze as he thought of all of the reasons he was what he was. He thought of all of the aspirations and dreams of a whole people that were placed on his willing shoulders. Then images of the assassination attempt on Kurisu that claimed the life of his father and comrades flashed through his head, then the image of him standing in a room surrounded with dead bodies.

“I fight because I must…I’m forced too.” Marukyru then searched his soul trying to find the one and only reason for him fighting, but there was none. He was raised in a world were he was the last hope of his dieing people; he was raised to help kill the tyrannical KageKage. He had no childhood and he had to live with the fact that he was nothing but a weapon for the people everyday of his juvenile life. “I am known as the ‘Desert Demon’. My sole purpose is to ensure the prosperity of my people, I am the last of a dieing breed and I must endure this overwhelming burden alone. I have killed people with families and I don’t feel a Morsel of empathy and my heart has forgotten what compassion even means." He looked down on his hands and opened them up exposing his palms to his plain view. “So much blood…So much pain. But yet I love it!”

"So we both have a good enough reason to fight," said Xera as she intertwined her fingers and entended both of her arms forward, and pushed her hands away from her body, cracking her fingers, which made a few crackling noises. "But, I want to see which one of us is stronger....I think we both need to know.....being stronger seems like a must for both of us..."

Xera then took a step backwards and pivoted her body around, facing Marukyru. She took a quite a few steps away from him, standing in the middle of the bridge, still looking at Marukyru. Xera had shifted her gaze to the bridge and looked down, examing her surroundings.

God damn it.....my ground jutsus will be ineffective here....I'll have to rely on plant jutsus and bloodline jutsus......

Xera then refocused her eyes so that her gaze was upon Marukyru's body. "What do you say," asked Xera, "That we have a fight...especially before it gets foggy again....I'm sure you don't want to fight in the fog.....because I sure as hell don't."

Xera, after saying that, inhaled a bunch of air, and slowly let it escape through her mouth. She stood still with both of her hands in front of her chest, ready to perform a jutsu, or to fight hand-to-hand if the situation ever came to that. I have a lot to prove....not just to this stranger.....but to myself....

Marukyru examined the female Shinobi as she distanced herself from him, undoubtedly getting ready to unleash some kind of assault if Marukyru agreed to this little skirmish. “Indeed we do need to find out who’s the strongest.” With that Marukyru found himself spiraling back into the mindset of the ‘Desert Demon’, slowly the inner yearning for battle and loathing for those outside his clan reemerged from the depths of his soul. His crimson gazed grew even more sinister then before as they fed off of the deep longing for combat that engulfed Marukyru’s essence. A smirk crept to Marukyru’s face as he picked himself up off of the rail and casually folded his arms across his chest.

The gorge on his back ferociously vibrated as if feeding off of Marukyru’s anxiousness. Soon Marukyru’s smirk erupted into a Maniacal laughter as he succumbed to the thirst for warfare brewing deep inside him. The contents of the gorge escaped its confinement as is spiraled aggressively around Marukyru, the brown grains of sand almost invisible in the moonlight and darkened area did the bidding of its wielder. “You ever heard of the things that go: Bump in the Night?” Marukyru said in a sinister tone. Just then the sand spiraled high above Marukyru and mimicked a ‘bird of prey’ stalking its soon to be dinner, Just then without any indication the sand rushed towards Xera with the force and speed of a tidal wave!

I have to start this battle off with an unexpected attack....this guy might think I'm suicidal, but it'll be funny seeing his reaction.

Xera, who had her gaze shifted to the left, didn't notice the sand at all coming at her, like an ultraviolet ray; powerful and unseen. Xera quickly rolled to her left, in case there was an attack, and there was; Xera simply pushed up off her hands and darted like a hungry tiger towards the rail, and in the process of all that, Xera had avoided the sand attack by Marukyru, but just narrowly. She quickly stood up on the rail and turned her body around so that she was facing Marukyru.

"To answer your question...no....I've never heard anyone say something that stupid..." Xera had cracked a smile as she was trying to get Marukyru angry and make him lose his concentration, even if it was momentarily. "You know.....'Desert Demon', I don't think your desert attacks or whatever will be that effective, but whatever...." Xera had continued looking towards her foe, trying to keep track of him in the darkness of the night, and the small amount of mist circling the bridge.

At that moment, a huge blanket of fog came and had spiraled around Xera. Xera had bent down so that her left knee was resting on the rail and her right foot was planted firmly on the circular rail. The pillow of fog made Xera nearly unseeable, Marukyru would need to have near perfect vision and to be able to see through the fog that entrapped Xera. A smile cracked Xera's face as she silently slid off of the rail, making sure she was as silent as possible.

The first few moments, she felt like she was floating through the air, but gravity started to take effect, and it felt like a huge hand from the pits of hell rose out of the ground and was dragging her down to the river. Xera looked up and saw railing and bars under the bridge, and she had smirked. Quickly raising both arms above her head, her arms were turning into roots, each arm turning into a fat, thick, long root; both of them circled around a rail, and Xera slowly retracted her arms so that she was barely dangling from the bottom of the bridge. A cold wind came breezing through the bottom of the bridge, but Xera was waiting for Marukyru's reaction as soon as the fog would lift from where she had jumped off.

Marukyru opened his eyes and stared through the crimson orbs as the thick fog slowly crept up the bridge like a tree sloth. It was getting pretty dark and increasingly harder to see, this was a predicament that best suited Marukyru for the simple fact that he didn’t have to see his target to destroy it! He did indeed see the girl evade his sand assault with grace and speed; he simply licked his lips in anticipation as his adrenaline pumped throughout his veins. Then out of nowhere with out a warning the female Shinobi disappeared as the fog got thicker, Marukyru was somewhat baffled about her whereabouts but he did known she was no longer on the bridge.

Marukyru listen for a splash, which would turn out to be a sure give away of her location…but there was none. Marukyru didn’t want to make too much more of a move until he knew her resting place so he decided to go on the defensive. He closed his eyes as the sand that had become spewed all over the bridge rushed back to the gorge, and spiraled like a hurricane around it’s powerful wielder. Marukyru unfolded his arms from his chest and proceeded to lock in numerous hand seals: Rat, Bird, Rat, Snake was the seals he preformed as he backed way into the shadows.

The right root of her arm slowly grew longer as it had extended around the next closest railing. She climbed under the bridge, swinging from rail to rail, until she was at the other end of the underside of the bridge. Her left arm got skinnier as it got longer and wrapped around the railing of the bridge, and slowly drew her body back up to the top of the bridge. She, with a burst of energy, shot back up into the air and landed silently on the bridge, as if she had never left.

A complete waste of time.....I figured he'd be dumb and try to do something...oh well....

Xera had extended both of her arms in front of herself as she tried to find Marukyru's location through the oncoming dense fog. Luckily for her, it would be hard for this guy to find Xera, so both of them were in the same predicament. The branches sprouted at a fast speed, and instantly covered all of Xera's body, as a suit of armor. "Just try to attack me...weakling..." muttered Xera as she awaited Marukyru to take action.

Marukyru had something planned and Xera would soon find out. A manacle smirked reached the lips of the hidden sand Shinobi as the sand that spiraled around him took the form of a clone. Marukyru couldn’t pinpoint the female shinobi’s location but he could draw her out of hiding. The clone then walked out into the bridge area exposing itself to attack, this was foolproof seeing as Xera didn’t even see Marukyru perform any hand seals. As the clone ventured out into the open, Marukyru and his sand sat still like a cobra poised to strike. Marukyru didn’t have to see Xera to attack eh just needed a general location of her where about.

"This slow fight is really testing my patience...but I guess since we fight similarly, I'll have to change my battle plan....I'll have to go on the offensive or this fight will take a century to finish...." muttered Xera quietly to herself.

A greyish-white blanket was all she could really see at all, and it was kind of pissing her off greatly. The fog wasn't settling and dispersing like she thought it would have. She was getting kind of bored with this fight already, but knew this guy was strong, just by the way he acted. The fight so far was like a chess-match....and each of them have only moved out their pawns...not using their more powerful pieces as of yet. Xera was determined to change that as all of the roots uncoiled from around her body and floated in the air in front of her face.

Xera closed her eyes and extended both of her arms out perpendicular to her body as the roots intertwined at a fast pace and created a long, think, rough branch on each arm. Xera knew she couldn't see, so she just closed her eyes, hoping that her other senses would get better. Xera took in a large, deep breath, and it felt good as the cold, clean air jumped into her lungs, and she exhaled out hot, dense air and made it a little foggier in front of her body.

All this time, Xera didn't even know that Marukyru had even created a sand clone. With the conditions both of them were in, Xera wouldn't even realize if the clone was the real Marukyru or not, nor did she really care.

Xera twisted her body slightly to her right, and uncoiled her body and swung her whole body to her left, with her extended branches going in the same motion as Xera's body. Xera had completed one full rotation, and continued on again, hoping that the breeze from the attack would clear the air just a little bit. Xera wouldn't care if Marukyru would see her, if she could see him, that's all she wanted.
