"Oh jeez, what is this place?" Naomi questioned as she kicked aside a rather decrepid stone pillar piece. The only thing that could bring Naomi to such a place this fine afternoon is her natural curiosity--a curiosity she was beginning to regret. A stone ruin wasn't exactly the best place for Naomi's "no shoes" habit. Blowing her auburn hair from her brown eyes, she kicked aside fist-sized rocks to continue her exploration. "This kind of place makes you think..." she said to herself. Finally, after a bit more kicking, she sat down in the shade of a pillar that had yet to succumb to the wears of time. Placing her umbrella off to her side, her mind began to wander. She fondled her bangles for something to do with her hands.

Something about this place made her think...of times past.

In her mind, she envisioned walking with her father. She remembered how she would smile when he would pick her up with his stong arms, and how she would complain when he kissed her with his itchy beard. She thought of how he could make little sand tornadoes, and have them dissapear before she could catch them. She could never make those tornadoes. To this day, she wondered how he did it. Continuing her mental voyage into the past, her glazed over eyes gazed into the partly cloudy sky.

Haru slowly stepped across the treacherous sand. Every single step was met with a quiet, but unmistakable crunch. He had woken up this morning with really no plans for the day, but that was when he had felt the wind. It had pushed him in one direction, the direction of the old ruins. The stone stacks attracted him, and for some reason, the whisper of the wind egged him on even after entering the ruins. He slowly stepped between two large sand blasted pillars, to see a girl among some more pillars. He smiled as a thought climbed its way into his mind.

Haru then stepped back, to where he had come from. He focused his power, and centralized his chakra, creating a spiritual balance. Then, he stepped through the pillars once again. This time, though, a great gust of wind followed him, disturbing his hair and whipping his shirt against his back. He grinned from ear to ear, thinking about the impression he had just made. There were a few reasons for him to do such an action. First of all, he had noticed that this unknown character was indeed female. He had yet to experience the wonders of the female body personally, and if it were to be so, he would most certainly try and strike off some sort of relationship. Of course, that was not the main reason. The main reason had to do with the fact that he had noticed that there was no headband showing an attachment to a village. If Haru could make an awesome, inspiring entrance, then he might attract this girl to join the Mirage Village. They could always use new ninja, anyways. The third and final reason for his brash act was because he sensed something with his Etai Iki. He noticed that she, too had a strong connection with the wind. Haru wanted to know if he had found another Sakakida member, and by his entrance, anyone would be able to tell he was a Sakakida member.

Naomi's eyes, which were once glazed over and pensive, were now focused and surprised. Wind swept over her frame as her hair flapped with the gust. Her robe flapped with equal vigor, if not more. The wind whistles as it traveled around the pillars and through the sands. This wind wasn't the same-old natural gusts that passed from time to time. This particular wind was full of chakra; luckily, it was relatively gentle. Through the fog of kicked-up sand, she grabbed her umbrella, placed it on her back, and looked over to the man who was probably the cause of this disturbance. She decided to yell.

"Hey man, what's the big ide--..."

When her eyes fully registered the man she was about to yell at, she didn't feel like yelling anymore. Her eyes widened upon him. His head-band was of that familiar symbol, of the place she had been avoiding out of pride. By the looks of him, he could very well be her relative of some sort. Their hair and eyes practically identical in color, and what's more, she felt something she hadn't felt in a long long time. That wind. The kind of wind that her father made when she was little...gentle, yet strong. The kind of wind that, so long ago, she had defected from. She made a small chuckle, and a wise comment.

"I guess I can't run from my blood forever, can I?"

She placed one bare foot backward apprehensively. It was so long since she'd seen another one of her clan. Why, after all this time, would she see one now?

A Sakakida girl… Haru thought to himself, stepping towards her slowly. He ignored her useless screaming, and inspected her. He had felt something familiar about her. Once he was close enough to reach out and touch her, he did. He placed his hands on the sides of her face, and inspected it, bringing his face so close his nose almost touched hers. They had many familiar traits, but Haru was reluctant to claim her as family that quickly. He was still recovering from mental trauma and the pain of loneliness. Then again, it would be nice to have someone familiar in the Village other then Sin. Haru shuddered when he thought about that freak.

“You…are you of the Sakakida clan?” Haru asked, still a little close for comfort. He didn’t notice, though, because he was too busy trying to see if she was a Sakakida clan member or not.

When the girl spoke again, Haru was reassured that she, too, could feel the wind that he could feel, and speak to the wind like he could. He was excited to have a family member, no matter how distant, be with him in these times that tested him so. He concealed his feelings, though, and waited for an answer to his question. He tried to conceal his feelings for a few more seconds, but they broke loose. Haru wrapped his arms around the girl, and squeezed her. he didn't care that she saw him act like that, as long as noone else saw it, he would be fine.

Naomi didn’t quite hug back. She accepted the embrace as his arms flew around her relatively tiny frame, encompassing it in warmth. The wind seemed to float in circles around the two of them, as if it were happy that two of its acquaintances had united again. Naomi’s eyes glazed over as she stared into the past. A tear climbed down her face as she thought of her memories with the Sakakida clan. She broke the hug, and looked into Haru’s eyes with tearful disdain. “Sorry. I abandoned my clan as it abandoned me.” She backed up slowly a couple of steps, and continued. “I don’t know whether this is circumstance or if you were sent to get me, but either way, I’m not going back without a fight.” Wind swirled around her hand violently as she prepared Fist of the North Wind. It surrounded her arm firmly and pointed like a drill, hopefully complementing her lack of strength.

“Our clan if a clan of pacifism, denying others in their time of need.” she continued, “Let us see if you can prove me wrong!” She would run toward Haru, her feet silent and her robe flapping as she ran. Tears fell off her face and hit the ground as she did so; she wanted to prove the point that she didn’t need her clan. Somewhere deep inside she felt doubt, however, and that was what this fight would squelch. Her intention was to punch Haru in the chest.

Haru nodded as his family member as she decided to fight. It was acceptable, and Haru understood what she meant. Of course, she was in for a wild ride. Haru was an experienced wind ninja, and she would be personally experiencing his strength. As soon as Haru saw her prepare an attack, he made the hand seals Dragon, Ram, and bird. Then, he focused much more chakra into it then was required, making it stronger then before.

When the attack finally came in, Haru's Shield of Debris technique had gathered rocks, wood, and other random objects from around the area to form a circular shield in front of Haru. The punch disturbed the material, and almost punctured it, but because Haru had boosted its power, it was more than strong enough to protect him. He smiled. She was pretty good.

As soon as he could feel the attack come to an end, Haru dispelled his shield of debris, and began to focus his chakra once more. He made the seals Rooster, Rabbit, then dragon. He rose both of his hands to rest in front of him, and then focused more chakra then needed into the jutsu again. This created a very strong gust that raced towards the Sakakida girl as she had just finished her attacks. This gust was strong enough to knock almost anyone onto their backs, and even blow them back a few feet to get knocked into a tree. After that, Haru waited for the girl to return fire with her own attack again.

Naomi's eyes widened as Haru made hand seals. She wasn't quite familiar with the process herself, but she knew that it made things happen for those who did. Her punch connected with debris that the wind swept in the way of the attack. She fell back a little due to the recoil, and quickly checked her hand for any damage. "Guess it wouldn't have been worth it if it was that easy..." she said to herself. Her brown eyes narrowed as he prepared more seals. She wished she knew what those damn things were. Not knowing what was coming next, she braced herself firmly. Seconds later, wind burst forth from Haru, aimed straight at her. It was violent, knocking the aforementioned debris right out of its path.

"Crap!" Naomi said aloud as she attempted to jump out of the way. Bending her legs and quickly springing sideways, she managed to get all but her legs out of the way. Unfortunately for her, the wind swept up her legs and the rest of her body, tumbling it several feet along the ground. Luckily she missed any object that could severely damage her such as jagged rocks and the like. Her back was facing him as she rose.

Wordlessly, she would jump into the air and flip backwards, turning and performing a flair in midair in which her heel would land onto Haru's shoulder. The proper name for this was Diving Falcon Strike.

Haru's eyes widened as his oppenent did a flip. He didn't know what was going on until he noticed the purposed trajectory of her fall. She was going to land on him. Haru immediately scrambled to move out of the way, and dove to the left. When he was safely away from the enemy's attack, he watched as the foe came down with her heel, creating a mid-sized crater where Haru's body would have been.

What a powerful technique. She obviously has more advanced Taijutsu skills than I do. That means I shall keep this battle a ranged battle on my part. Haru thought, as he formulated his attack plan.

Haru was now about two stretched out yards from his opposition, and he had a brilliant idea. Haru deftly grabbed and snapped open his fan, like he had done it over a thousand times already. Then, he focused his chakra to the edge of the fan and swung it as hard as he could. A Slashing Wind raced towards Haru's enemy, and behind it was Haru, racing forwards after the gust. He had placed his fan back upon his back, and whipped out two kunai. One for each hand. He charged after the wind, and planned to slash for his oppenent after the winds disoriented her. Of course, this slash would not be the main attack, for in the other hand, Haru also had another kunai. His plan was that after the first slash, he would make a jab for her stomach with the other hand. This combo would surely show her the power of the Sakakida clan when they put their minds to battle.

In the air, Naomi looked like a blur of brown and white, plummeting down toward the ground with her leg outstretched. The heel of her bare foot assaulted the ground below, creating a crater in something that wasn't Haru. She had missed. She could tell that he wasn't a Taijutsu type simply because he was avoiding long bouts of close combat. She would have to somehow sieze the little close contact that she could get. Her eyes quickly focused upon the man she had just missed. Her eyes were moist with tears, and yet had the expression of an agressive determination about them. "A clan is supposed to protect one another.." she said angrily, "..and I doubt you can do that with only moves that keep me at bay."

As if that was exactly what he wanted to hear her say, Naomi saw Haru open his fan and summon forth a wind. Remembering what happened the last time she tried to dodge it, she crossed her arms defensively and withstood the Slashing Wind. Small cuts formed around her arms and other places she couldn't protect as well. Her clothes also had small cuts in it. When she took her arms from her face, she was surpsied to see Haru running toward her with Kunai in his hand. Quickly, she formed a small tornado around her hand once more with Fist of the North Wind, and met the first slash with her technique, blocking it and protecting her hand. Noticing the second stab a little later than she would have liked, her eyes widened as she strafed to the side. The stab grazed her, staining her robe red, as opposed to impaling her stomach.

From her strafe, she was 7 feet from Haru. She would thrust each of her palms forward, which would create a small blunt wind each time, and hopefully slam into Haru. She called this move Swift False Palm, and doubted that he had ever seen it before, considering she created it herself. Her breaths became more deep. She was getting tired.

Haru was angered at the girl as she slandered his techniques right in front of him. Through this battle, he would show her that his techniques were doing far more then she thought. She obviously did not understand strategy, as anyone with an intellect would know what he was doing. He was only weakening her so that when he did decide to make stronger strikes, they would deal more damage, and be more likely to hit, and deal critical damage. But, even as thoughts of a critical hit flashed through his mind, he knew that this was a battle of love. He needed to prove that the Sakakida people needed to stick together, that way they would be stronger. She already showed promising use of her bloodline trait, and Haru couldn’t wait to train her further in the use of it. Of course, there were also some things that he could learn from her, like skill in Taijutsu. Overall, if they stuck together, they would both become better and more efficient ninja.

Soon enough, Haru was overjoyed to see her learn from her past mistake and stay, and stand out the wind instead of attempt to dodge it again. He was also pleased to see the damage his technique had done. Of course, Haru regretted making the dangerous lashes with his kunai, but this was unavoidable. He had held back, anyways. As his attack ended, Haru was already contemplating his next move. He planned to keep that battle in close range, where he could end the battle with a well placed strike in the end.

As Haru was thinking, though, a force struck his stomach, knocking the air from the Mirage Chuunin. He also stumbled and fell over on his back. He coughed and gagged, grasping for air, and as he finally had a good hold on it, he stood up again. His kunai had been sent flying by that last attack. Haru didn’t know whether it was a very powerful and super fast strike or a new wind jutsu. Whatever it was, that girl had made Haru even more interested.

As Haru regained his ready stance, placing his left foot forward, as well as his right hand, he observed the situation. He needed to find something that could give him some kind of edge over his opponent. It was as he was looking around that he noticed that their was quite an amount of dust laying about the battle ground, even more so than usual because of the activity in the ruins. Haru grinned as he coaxed the wind with his Etai Iki skill, conjuring mini-gusts that pushed a multitude of little dust piles into a large one. This large pile of dust was right between Haru and his foe, a distance of about eight feet.

After all aspects of his next attack had been rifled through, Haru finally charged forward at his opponent, fists clenched, and right arm cocked back for a punch. As he came up on the four foot marker between them, Haru used his Etai Iki to blow the large pile of dust forward, creating a large cloud to cover Haru’s next attack. The large cloud was thick enough that you could barely make out shapes through it, and it was almost directly in front of Haru’s target. As he neared it, he strafed to the left of the cloud, and then charged in with one punch to the enemy’s gut, followed by a kick from the left side that would send her tumbling. Haru had high hopes for this maneuver because she would be so worried about the cloud, she would forget to guard her flanks.

Naomi was slightly hunched over, her hands trembling over her graze wound in her side. She gritted her teeth and continued to look at Haru with a tough gaze. The Swift False Palm had hit him soundly, but now that the technique was revealed, she doubted he would be hit by it a second time. From the beginning, Naomi knew that he was more skilled than her. However, her hatred for what the clan had done for her bubbled up with time so long that she could hardly stand it. She wanted someone, anyone, to see her improvements without the clan. Deep down, she missed her kin; trying to forgo her feelings with fighting and training wasn't going to cut it this time, but that wouldn't stop her from continuing her tough-girl facade. Droplets of sweat slid down her face and fell to the sandy ruin below. How long would she be able to keep this up?

As Haru rose from her strikes, she took a step back, still holding on to her wound defensively. It was almost like a dance; each time Haru would step take a step forward or backward, she would take a step the opposite way. If he ran, she would chase. If she ran, he would chase as well. "What could be be planning..." she wondered. She didn't notice the sworling dust accumluating in the area until it was dancing in front of her face, blocking the view of her opponent. He was using the bloodline to block her sight! She thrust the hand that was not clutching her wound, hoping to catch him with another Swift False Palm. She tried narrowing her eyes through the dust to see if she got him.

Evidently, she did not, as he came bursting through the left side of the dust with fist outstretched. Naomi simply couldn't block in time. She got punched in the gut, with her mouth opening to grasp the little air she could. She could tell his physical strength was superior to hers with that punch. Disoriented by the blow, she was even less prepared for the kick to the left side, which knocked her off her feet and onto the ground. A little blood fell from her mouth. "T-t...that was n...nothing..." she stuttered, trying to stand up again. Her legs were shaking with defeat, not allowing her to take another blow. She collapsed, hiding her face in her arm. She made small sniffling noises; she was crying, and failing at hiding it. She curled up a little, holding her wound and trying to scrape at the little pride she had left. Her voice, muffled with her arm, quietly said "..I'm sorry...."

She had enough. The facade was over. Naomi wanted to go home.

Haru's proximity to the girl was close enough for him to just barely reach her. When she began to crumple and fall, Haru almost dived to pick her up. After she had uttered her words, Haru picked her up in a gentle cradle of his arms. He stroked her hair, and brushed a few stray strands out of her eyes, and marveled at her beautifully deep auburn hair. It was untouched by the sun, unlike Haru's.

Haru carried her out of the ruins, and as he entered the desert for the long trek home, he stopped and looked at her. "Sorry." He said, with a gentle tone, eben if it was covered by his semi-gruff voice. Even thought it was hidden, his true feelings could easily be seen through his eyes. They gave it all away, through the angle that they were at, and even the aura emnating from Haru. It was one of sobering sadness, and worry.

Haru carried her all the way to the Mirage Village. The sand bit at them, but Haru shielded her from the winds and sand. Hid body was stinging all over by the time he had reached the sacred village. Haru quickly rushed her to his home, and kicked open the door. he had created a new dent in it, that would accompany the many others. He set her gently on his bed, and muttered two simple words that were oh so bittersweet, and meant so much to him. They were signalling the dawn of a new era in Haru. He would change, just because of these words.

"Welcome Home."
