The People's Champion
|
The heat of the desert was picking up as what seeming like a flaming comet shot through the hot air. It was a blur, but two shapes that looked like feet under the flames, were running against the hot sand. As Corey ran across the desert, mile after mile passing him by he could feel the heat rising as the sun rose over the horizon and sunlight bathed Corey like a hot lava bath. He could feel the flames of his chakra grow, but his body was getting hotter and sorer, the headache increasing, and his will to survive growing with every step. He could feel his muscles aching, screaming for him to stop and take a break, but he refused over and over again to stop. If he didn't make it out of this barren wasteland he felt he never would. He was lonely, just as he was when his parents were taken from him and his brother disappeared... he was lonely, wishing for destruction wishing for pain and suffering to the people that were responsible. He was wishing for the combat that he so dearly needed. He needed something to destroy, something to bring pain and sorrow to. He was going to have to relieve this displeasure by any means. He also wished that he could come across some peasants, or a small village where he could disappear and live peacefully. He feared someone would come looking for him, but he would gladly kill them to keep his serenity. Corey smiled even as he gasped for a break, even as he reached with his arms and legs trying to run faster and faster, trying to get out, trying to get free of the wasteland. As he ran he could feel the air flying by him fueling the chakra flames that flowed around his body turning him into what could only be described a meteor that ran along the sand. With every step a hole was left, a dune was destroyed, and Corey got closer and closer to his objective. As grass came into sight only miles away, as trees began come appear over the horizon Corey began to feel the pain in his muscles disappear, the headache disappear from his mind, and only thoughts of inflicting pain upon others stay in his mind. He did not care about his own pain, because what he could inflict upon others with his abilities could make up for it. He wished for combat, he wished for a good fight, anything that would him to practice his skills that he had spent so long training. Day in and out, he pushed himself to perfect. The weakness of the human race was their excessive violence and that disgusted Corey, but the strength of the stronger warriors that practiced this violence impressed him. Toshi and Shoujo, Chuunins of the Mirage Village, were two of the men that intrigued him. Corey did not have enough power so that when he purged the planet of it’s disgrace, and lead everyone to think how he did, but he was confident that he would do so, that he might just start his own village to test the power of the humans, to see what they could achieve with their maximum potential... but these thoughts were for later, right now Corey was only concerned with getting out of the desert and right when he reached the edge of the desert, right when he climbed the last sand dune and grass was only inches away, he decided, well it was decided for him that he would crash to the ground, exhausted. His body collapsed over the line, it had been days since he had seen a piece of grass. He was finally out of the desert, out of the sands that got everywhere and made him bored. He rolled into grassland and lay there, waiting... As Corey emerged from the flames of the desert he emerged to a new place; a forest where with just a few bursts of his flaming fists, would turn into a fiery inferno and burn to dust. And therefore as Corey walked into the lush forest he thought of drawing a chakra flame into his fist. It was made his hand glow a red and black, blacker than the darkness of space, his eyes redder than fire itself that burned in his fingertips. He quickly extinguished it and continued. As he walked through the lush forest, he could see the animals going about their business until he walked by. But as he walked passed the animals watched him, as those they were protecting something, as though they were afraid that he would destroy their homes. Corey smiled as he thought of this... he was not a threat to anyone unless they wanted him to be. As the animals ran, Corey looked around, hoping, just hoping he might come upon a village, a small village where he could disappear, where he could slip in amongst every last person inside and fade into a normal life. As he walked he left footprints on the grass, crushing the life from anything underneath the steps he took. He could barely contain the flames inside of him; he could barely hold them in so that he did not set the whole forest on fire. Even though he wished too he had to find out what was inside before he lost control of it all, before he destroyed everything these animals had worked for, their lives. As he walked he began to get into the training mood. He walked up to a tree examining it. Corey then began to send a flaming punch through it. The tree exploded in flame, but Corey didn’t stop there. He started to punch the tree continually. Punch after punch, kick after kick, Corey started to decimate the massive tree trunk. But whenever he attacked it, he tried his best to hit it just barely, just barely enough to chip off a small piece of it. With every attack he could feel the strain of trying to stop his fists, his feet, from smashing the tree into pieces with a single attack. The tree was still on fire, a blazing spire, but it didn’t fall. Eventually he couldn't hold his own strength back and put his fist through the center of it. When he drew it back the tree exploded into hundreds of pieces of flame and splinters and he smiled still very impressed with his own strength. He moved onto another tree doing the same exercise, working harder and harder, sweat pouring down him as his muscles began to ache and he felt that same burning sensation, that same burning sensation that wanted him to just unleash the fires within him, to burn everything down to the ground... but he had to wait, he had to see what was farther inside. As he continued his walk, he flipped and did a somersault, jumping higher and higher until he was standing on the tree tops. He jumped on the top of another tree and as he did so he felt it sink into the ground from his weight. When he leaped from it the tree fell to the ground broken. The same thing happened with the next tree and the next tree until when he finally met the ground, it looked like hundreds of trees had fallen and Corey’s legs were burning as though he had ran a thousand miles. He had to figure out how he could lower his chakra necessary to walk on the tree limbs. Jumping to the next tree, he succeeded in staying upright. His chakra focused through his feet. As he walked on limbs of the forest trees, sunlight peaked through cracks in the leaves bathing Corey in heat. He loved the feeling, but had had a lot of that in the desert so he was not tired of the feeling. As he walked, he could feel a slight cool breeze that made him forget about his anger, made him forget about his hate, but no... He could see something up ahead... something that resembled a house, possibly a village…. As Corey emerged from the shadows of the trees, the moon rising and darkness spreading throughout the forest, he could see not one, not two, but at least fifteen wooden houses forming a village. Many of the houses had their lights on and nobody was outside, but probably preparing to go to sleep. A smile crossed Corey’s face as he realized how lucky he was to find a village here in peace, away from civilization. And now, Corey would fulfill his need for sleep. As he stepped into the clearing where there were no trees as though the villagers had cut a huge circle into the forest just for their town, Corey felt the desire to sleep, but something was amidst. The Uchiha watched a man with a sword fly from above and start what would soon be known as chaos. From what Corey saw, the man wore an all-black ninja suit complete with light armor around his forearm, shins, and chest. The ninja unleashed the flames from him with a proper dragon flame technique and once again became surrounded by the fires of his chakra. The ninja started with the closest house to him, putting his fist through the wall and setting the house on fire. He then blocked the door and the windows and watched in extreme satisfaction as the inhabitants inside screamed for mercy, screamed in agony in pain, screamed in a music that the ninja had waited far too long for. He smiled as people began to run out of their houses in fear, pointing at the ninja as though he was some sort of monster. He could hear them calling out at him. "Monster, how could you do that to innocent people?" They screamed, and the ninja replied with this; he opened his mouth letting out a breath as he tried to find the words. But with no real avail, the ninja fired balls of chakra into them, which turned everyone in front of him into dust, blackened piles of bones on the ground. It was rather odd because chakra normally could not be expelled that way, especially like that fire balls he had produced. All those that remained inside the next house the ninja proceeded to massacre them as well, this time not burning those inside, but taking each one individually, holding them in front of another one of the family members, and tearing them into pieces, leaving them piles of flesh and bones and blood. Screams of terror echoed around the ninja like a symphony of sorrow. It was as though he danced from house to house, burning, tearing, blowing people to bits in the most brutal of ways. He was enjoying himself so much he couldn't even stop himself from laughing as he massacred the village, one by one. And when several warriors appeared to fight him, it reminded him of the nightmare he had had, accept for that fact that this time there was only two of them. But no matter, they were still no match for the ninja. Corey could only watch as he stood on the edge of a tree just watching. He took one, ripping him in half with his sword, and then began to beat the other with the pieces until they turned into a bloody mess in his hands from the extreme beating he had gave them. Brave fighters kept leaping at him attacking him regardless of the power he was putting out, and they learned the hard way that that was not a good idea. The attacks the ninja hit them with were devastating, consuming the warrior’s lives easily, burning them to a crisp as they were weak and used swords of weak material. When the village was up in flames, every last inhabitant slaughtered the ninja stood in the inferno laughing as the smoke from the village rose higher and higher into the air. He walked slowly towards the cover of the trees, bringing his flames back into his body so that he may once again walk into the forest without demolishing it. With a big smile on his face, the ninja walked away from the destruction he had had so much causing. Corey followed, trying to see what exactly he was. It was still night as the ninja walked through the silent forest, animals scattering at the sight of him. He was starting to feel a little bit of ache in his muscles, but it was all forgotten as he relived the feeling of destruction he had just experienced. It had been so long... so very long since he had felt such a thing... so long that the ninja had not remembered what it felt like to cause pain till this very night. He walked slowly as though taking as much time as possible, and in the bushes he could hear something as well as sense something. Something was following him... and the ninja wished to meet it. He turned around suddenly to find a rather small boy standing in front of him. The ninja smiled as he got into offensive position before leaping at the man, his hand bursting into flames. Corey smirked, “Flaming Fist Technique? I know it as well…. It is one of the techniques of the Uchiha clan… are you an Uchiha?” The ninja grunted, “Oddly, I think I could be…” The ninja used his flaming fist as a weapon as he punched at the boy, who tried to dodge the ninja's attack except it didn’t work. The punch, with all of the ninja’s strength and weight in it, sent the man slamming into the ground. The ninja's strength was great, and if the Uchiha hoped to even be a challenge he would have to use his speed. The ninja knew this and knew he would most likely have to predict where to punch next and attack there, not where the warrior was currently standing. The ninja smiled as the fighter leaped at him, surprising him but impressing him with his speed. The ninja simply covered himself with his arms and blocked every attack from the man before grabbing him and throwing him through several trees before he was able to stop himself. The ninja grinned as he saw the fighter get up. Most humans would have died from that or at least broken a few bones, yet this one seemed unhurt. They leaped at each other exchanging hits. Corey was experimenting, producing a low level of chakra to formulate his attacks. He didn’t want to bring his chakra out to much; he had to learn how to ration it to conserve the little chakra that he did have. In doing so, he would preserve his chakra for later on in the fight. If he planned this right, the Uchiha could balance out the difference in their skills. This change, he hoped, would be enough to cause a shift to balance out the battle. It was with little luck, because Corey was tiring regardless. His opponent was overly powerful and equally agile. Corey jumped back as he dodged a kick that was aimed for his face with a rather graceful back flip. The ninja jumped into the air, and flew towards Corey, the young Uchiha did likewise. As their fists met each other they could see the strain in the bodies, the strain in their muscles as their fists met each others bodies with great strength. As they punched at each other it was as though this boy was as strong as the ninja, taking every punch. The ninja could feel his blood heating up, his will to win beginning to take over. He could feel the flames of energy surround him and begin to light up, but he couldn't destroy the forest just yet... there was still more to gain, more to take, more to kill, and the ninja would rather take his time than destroy it all at once. Eventually the ninja jumped back, his feet digging into the ground as he landed, and he began to shoot chakra blast after chakra blast. The boy watched and simply deflected and sliced through them with his kunai. He jumped right at the ninja elbowing him in the chest. The ninja showed a look of surprise for a few moments before grabbing the boy in a great bear hug. He then began to squeeze harder and harder. As Corey screamed, wiggling his body in great pain and agony, the ninja could hear his bones breaking, his muscles stretching, and the screams of the fighter growing louder and louder until it was all was quiet in the forest once again. The man was bigger and the bear hug from him was just the trick to kill the boy, or so he thought. The ninja released the fighter and watched as the corpse fell to the ground, a bloody mess. He looked down and smirked, “You are strong brother, but to have similar strength as myself is not enough. To believe in peace you must attach that attribute to every aspect of your being. When you do, there is a spot in the Eternal Brotherhood of Flame for you.” The ninja smiled as he walked off into the shadow... into the darkness once again... *Hours later* The Uchiha awoke his body still sore from the beating he had received prior to falling on the ground. He was lucky to be alive; he knew that and was happy about it. He went to move his frame, but it was hard to. His bones were probably badly fractured and he needed medical attention. Slowly getting to his feet, Corey forced himself to walk forward and made a way towards civilization. As he moved, he didn’t notice the elevation change and was soon in a cold forest. The ground was hard because of the permafrost that was coating the trees. He would have to concentrate on walking on the ice, or he could try something that many ninja before him do. Looking up, Corey jumped to the top of the tree line, and balanced his body on the smaller branches. He stumbled for awhile because of the pain as well as his struggle to remain center wasn’t the easiest. The branch was small and he was tired as it was. He had to focus on the little bit of chakra that he had left. He had to manage the chakra to the point, because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have the strength to get home. His stamina was low as it was but he continued to try. He concentrated as he moved his chakra into his feet, a faint blue surrounding them. Smirking, he took a step on an extremely small branch that would have normally snapped under his weight. To his surprise, it didn’t break and he balanced on it. “That’s amazing.” He muttered, as he made his way back to the Mirage Village. He could barely think; he could barely hold himself together. The events of the past few days had been a blur. What was this Eternal Brotherhood of Flame that the ninja was talking about? If it was an organization that promoted peace, why had the ninja destroyed the village like he had? There were multiple questions that the young Uchiha had that only one ninja could answer. “One day, brother, I will find you again…..” |
