No one could stop spring from dying as summer’s hot waves collided with it. It wilted like the beautiful flowers that it was known for, letting summer sweep over it and take over without even fighting back at all. But, that was good enough for Abel, because while he loved the cool breezes and sweet scents of spring, the long evenings and warm nights of summer in his home were just as much a treat. The plains that surrounded the Hamlet had turned their usual golden as the sun dried them out, their seeds sent in to the air by the random breezes that flowed through. While many did not see the beauty of summer, he did and loved it so much.

He wasn’t expecting anyone, so he had chosen the most comfortable clothing he had for that day, a silken yukata that his mother and father had gotten him for his last birthday, going down to about his knees, the blue and white pattern showing butterflies. His hair was pulled back in to its normal shape, a pitch black ponytail, and above either ear was a small butterfly pin, blue as well to match not only his clothing but his eyes. And to guard himself from the scorching summer ground, a pair of traditional summer sandals woven together, his own personal purchase from a fair that had come in to town a few years before. He was glad he had bought them at a larger size, as they fit him now perfectly.

“Okay, let’s see what we can use,” he said to himself calmly, his voice light and happy as he bent down over the scorched grasses, a woven basket in his arms. The basket contained a variety of lengths of grass that he had been picking for that day and he was glad to see that it was filling up. Later in the summer the grass would be too brittle to collect for weaving in to things and earlier it was still too green. He had chosen the day that he thought would be the best for this activity, and from the fruits of his labor, had figured out that he was in fact, correct. But, even as harmless as he seemed, underneath that grass were his needles, just in case. He had heard reports of rogue ninja starting to escalate, so he wanted to be ready. It had been subtle changes, such as not letting the children out without an adult at least watching them, so no one knew about his suspicions quite yet.

“It really is hot, isn’t it?” he mumbled to himself as he stared up at the cloudless sky, the sun beating down with intensified fury with nothing to stop it. He smiled and wiped some sweat from his brow, rising to greet the sun in its own game. “I’m not going to leave just because you’re making me thirsty,” he said with a smile towards the burning orb, challenging it. It was mid-day but he was never one to run away simply because of the time of day. With a quick smile, he held out his hands, almost as if making an offering to the sun itself. However, within a few moments the true nature of what he was doing surfaced as the water in the dry, humid air around him slowly started to gather in to his cupped palms, staring as fine dew and then increasing, filling it up quickly.

And, without another look at the blazing sun, he held his hands up to his lips and drank the water, gently wiping the water away from his lips that had lingered there. “See? I’m not afraid of you. Do your worst,” he said in a mock taunt towards the sun before turning back to collecting grass. He did this every time he went out alone, simply because it was something fun to do. It kept him entertained during the long days of grass collecting. It also never hurt to do a bit of practicing with his abilities, just in case he ever needed them.

Draven/Crimson!!!

Matty started the thread for Story purpose, you are to rp Luventius Soldiers and an occasional General in that thread being spotted by the Boarder Patrol. Give them hell and entertain them.

Mattox!!!

You are rping Luventius forces against the Crypt. You know what to do... and how to enjoy it... >=)

Cloud/Iffy-kun!!!

We are to rp as Luventius's defense against all attacking Shinobi. This task will be THE most difficult for the players. The wall stands REALLY f-ing tall... higher than they can jump. The numbers are greater than that of the Crypt and this battle probably wont end until the forces receive back-up.

For details see the other thread about the Saga.

The golden rays of the sun absorbed into his skin as he walked along a well beaten path. The plains slowly started to change as spring quickly turned to summer and the days grew longer and longer. This was a good thing for the youth as he could just spend more of his days actually training and not sleeping. It was the very reason he was walking along the path; to train on the outskirts of the Hamlet. With his katana swaying from side to side with each step, he brought himself further into the plains. The sun was a real killer today and so he brought an extra flask of water just in case he needed it.

"A breeze would be nice about this time."

He looked up at the sky and just shook his head. The weather was always so unreliable these days. When he wanted rain, it would be sun shine for days on in; when he wanted the sun, the rain drops never seemed to stop falling. It was as if the gods themselves saw what he wanted and gave him the opposite. Blah, he didn't complain though. He knew wanting something and getting it was always so hard in life. The youth just smiled at the bastard and placed both hands behind his head.

"Oh well."

It was at that time that he saw another wandering through the plains as well. In the distance, it looked like another shinobi was out and about. It wasn't in his nature to go up to people and randomly talking with them, but he was in a good mood at the moment; even with the weather toying with his emotions. So instead of staying on the route given to him by the masses of the village, Kaos turned his attention to the other and redirected his walk to greet him.

Given his relaxed nature, he didn't assume the other to see him as a threat. Of course, he forgot to put his own forehead protector in a viable spot. He hated to wear it on his forehead! He kept it in his belt on the backside. It may have not been the best spot for it, but he didn't care what others thought of it. Some said it was disrespect, but it wasn't like Kaos was jumping for joy at the fact that he was a genin for the Valley Village. He only became one because his brother was one as well and it was his only way of bring just like him.

I wonder if the lake is cold.

‘This piece is perfect!’ Abel thought to himself happily as he picked a very long piece of grass and delicately broke it at the root, sticking it in the basket carefully. He looked over the amount he had so far and was pleased to tell himself that he could actually go home early today. With a slight smile, he stood up, stretching in the sun, enjoying the warmth for once now. Smaller than most boys his age, only at 5’2”, he looked younger than he actually was, at least in height, but that didn’t bother him on a day like this. To him, it was less surface area for the sun’s light to absorb in to him so he would get warmer faster instead of the larger people. At least that is what he told himself when he looked up at all the tall people his age. Whether or not it was true wasn’t his business.

Suddenly, the sound of crackling grass caused him to look off to the side, his gaze immediately falling upon someone who was coming towards him. He couldn’t tell from the distance just who it was, but from the colors and the look, he knew it wasn’t someone he knew. So, like any well prepared person, he put down his basket and knelt down besides it, taking out eight of the needles that were inside, hiding them in the sleeves of his yukata the best that he could. Thankfully, he had gotten it a bit larger than he was and the sleeves were longer, long enough to cover up his hands and the needles they were concealing, at least until they needed to be used. That was, if they needed to be used.

“Hey there!” he said, waving one robed arm, being careful to not let the sleeve drift past his hand and blow his cover. His voice, unfortunately, was still higher and softer than any other male teen his age, so alongside the fact that he was short, skinny and had the genetics of a clan that was generally seen as one of the most effeminate in history, it really didn’t help a total stranger in identifying his gender. At that point, he didn’t care though and simply waved before pulling down his hand, a bright smile on his face as the strange approached. His smile was not faked at all, despite the fact that he was ready to be aggressive if he needed to be. At the same time, he was ready to be as friendly as humanly possible if the need arose. It was a confusing ideology, but fell mostly on “Better to be safe than sorry” in both safety and the ability to gain a new friend.

As he got closer, Abel’s smile broadened as he looked at the incoming figure. The newcomer was taller than he was, but seemed younger by his face, not that it mattered much. He didn’t look like someone he had ever seen in the hamlet before, the bright red clothing something new to behold. “Hi there,” he said in his cheerful tone, before continuing, “You need help finding something?” The stranger had strayed off the main path, so maybe he was looking for something. It would explain why he had headed in his direction, perhaps asking for directions. ‘Or perhaps to cut my throat,’ he thought as soon as the other idea passed in to his mind. He just hoped it was the first.

As he neared the figure, Kaos suddenly remembered that he did have another chore to finish before his training. He wanted to do the training first, but it was always smart to scout ahead so he wasn't looking forever after he got all tired from training! He noticed the basket and figured this was some chick who was out picking flowers. She would be perfect to ask! Right? Yep. He stopped a safe distance away because he knew people had their own personal space and he didn't feel like her screaming rape or something. He was going to train; he wasn't trying to beat up some old farmer because his daughter thought Kaos was trying to get fresh with her.

I wonder if she knows where this flower is.

He just kept his hands at the back of his head and shook his head around to move the dirty blonde locks of hair from his vision. At first glance, he assumed she was a little older than him, so whatever, he wouldn't bother to try and hit on her(that would have been a self own!). He just looked at the basket and then back at her. Kaos cleared his throat and thought of how to best ask this question. Given he wasn't fully paying attention, he didn't catch the name of the flower he was looking for. He knew it was suppose to grow somewhere in these plains and this time of the year was the only time he could pick it. So maybe a local could tell even with his half ass knowledge on the matter?

"I dunno? Do you happen to know of this flower that is suppose to be growing at this time. I was told to come out here and look, but I sorta forgot what it was called so I need someone to tell me. Showing me where it is would be nice too?"

The youth looked around and noticed that there happened to be a normal of types of plants and things around here. Maybe his little bit of information wasn't going to be enough to let her know what he was rambling about. He may get lucky and she was smart enough to tell him even if he was being a moron? Of course, he would have to think of a way to repay her? Can't leave without paying the debt back. He wouldn't feel right in doing something like that. Maybe he'll let her watch him train? Get her a good view of his sexy body in action!

‘Well, he seems harmless enough,’ Abel thought to himself, the needles quickly being stuffed in to the sash of the yukata he was wearing. If he didn’t need to use them, he wouldn’t, but that didn’t mean he would put them somewhere out of his reach. While they were exactly comfortable, he was used to hiding them on his person, just in case. But, it seemed like this kid wasn’t much more of a threat than the sun was to him and that was all that really mattered. That or he was acting really well, and that was why they weren’t immediately discarded. But, for the time being he would help him the best that he could, half because he was bored and half because he was slightly interested in most things ninja, even if he personally never wanted to become one himself.

“A flower?” he asked, caught off guard by the strange request. He blinked a few times before holding one hand up to his chin, thinking on it carefully, the fabric of the sleeve pulling back to reveal light blue painted fingernails. “There are quite a few flowers that bloom around this time of year in this area,” he said half to himself, trying to think of what exactly would be a flower that a ninja would want. Having lived his entire lives around the fields, especially when it came to medical plants, he had a pretty advanced knowledge of the area, especially in regards to plants but that didn’t help him unless he knew what exactly it was he was looking for. There were herbs that he knew could help, but those weren’t flowers, and weren’t exactly rare or isolated to that one area.

“That’s actually a toughie,” he finally said, unable to think of one specific flower that a ninja would have to come all the way on his lonesome to pick up. Maybe it was a test of some sort, a basic mission to see how fast he would do it? Unfortunately, that wasn’t any of his business, but since he had already finished collected the herbs and grasses, why not help the poor kid? “But sure, I’ll help as much as I can. You’ll have to come up with more than just a flower though, I can’t go directly off of that unfortunately,” he said with a slight giggle hinting his voice. “Do you know why it’s wanted or what it’s used for? Maybe some kind of sickness that is becoming prevalent this time of year? With any of that, I should be able to tell you whatever it is in a second,” he finished, nodding quickly, the smile still not wiped from his face, “That or it’s not medicinal, and that’s an entirely different story, but I can help all the same.”

The worst case scenario was that he would have to help the kid find every single kind of flower that bloomed in the meadow at that time of year and bring one of each back, just to be sure that he got it right. But that didn’t really matter to him all that much, he enjoyed doing things like that, especially since his own chores for the entire day were finished even before noon was over.

Of course his little bit of information wasn't going to be enough to solve this little issue and that only made Kaos frown at the thought of spending more time looking for this thing than he previously wanted. Oh well, it was for his mother after all, so he would do it out of the goodness of his heart. The odd thing was the more he stood there and looked, the more he realized that maybe this person wasn't a girl! The sound of her voice, the way she moved, the fact that she had no breast at all, it almost made him ask her if she was actually a he! That would be rude and would lead to her/he just flat out ignoring him and not helping with the search of this flower. For the moment, he would put that in the back of his mind and try to mustard up the words to better explain what he was looking for.

“A flower?”
"Yes."
“There are quite a few flowers that bloom around this time of year in this area,”
"I've noticed."
“But sure, I’ll help as much as I can. You’ll have to come up with more than just a flower though, I can’t go directly off of that unfortunately,”
"Well...."
“Do you know why it’s wanted or what it’s used for? Maybe some kind of sickness that is becoming prevalent this time of year? With any of that, I should be able to tell you whatever it is in a second,”
"I don't think so."
“That or it’s not medicinal, and that’s an entirely different story, but I can help all the same.”
"It isn't a flower like that at all. I think it is suppose to be a surprise for me actually. I think we'll be replanting it at my brother's grave, so maybe that would help in you at all?"

He wasn't told this, but Kaos was fairly certain this was the reason he was told to get the flower. His mother was always complaining about how dull his grave was and the months had come and gone and now it was time to return to his grave and pray once more. He knew when she said it was going to be a surprise that this had to do with that. She didn't know it, but Kaos knew when they were leaving. To her, he wasn't thinking about his brother at all, and that is how he wanted it to stay. He didn't want her to know he thought about him daily. It would only make her worry about him and he knew she would quickly force him from being a shinobi with the knowledge that he was planning on finding that ninja one day.

Revenge wasn't something on her mind, but the thought had crossed his mind from time to time. What would he do if he found out who did it? Even he didn't know what he would do. Maybe he would show mercy or maybe he'll kill the bastard in cold blood. Emotions were not suppose to show up in the life of a shinobi, but that didn't stop Kaos. He didn't let the thought cause him to grow anger on this day. He was in a good mood and so he just looked back at this person and smiled.

"By the way, my name is Douteki Kaos, what is yours?"
He waited. Maybe this would clue him in on the gender of this person as well! What a clever little fellow, eh?

“A flower for your brother’s grave? Oh, I’m sorry,” he said, feeling silly for ranting on like that. He unfortunately had picked up that trait from his mother; it was just his way of thinking things out. He tapped his chin lightly, thinking of what a traditional funeral flower from the meadow would be and trying to go over all the times he had been asked to gather flowers for people. He had never had to attend a funeral yet though, so he wasn’t quite sure, but he had a general idea of where to look now. It wouldn’t be a medicinal flower; it would be one that was prettier than anything else, but not cheerfully so. That still left quite a few species, but he had a general idea of just what this kid was looking for.

“I think I know what it is that you would be looking for. There is a very special kind of lily that grows here, but never lasts very long. It’s said to be good luck to find one and they come in different colors too. Does that ring any bells?” he asked, trying to remember if he had actually ever found one himself. It wasn’t that he never looked for one; it was just that they rarely lasted a day before they wilted under the intense sun as soon as they bloomed, their flowers being rather sensitive. It made sense that under the partial shade of a tombstone they would do so much better than out in the direct light of the meadow. And the one he had seen had a strange beauty to it. It wasn’t vibrantly colored, but rather had a very refined look, perfect for death, or so he guessed.

‘I think they shouldn’t be too hard to find if we look hard enough,’ he thought to himself carefully, only turning towards his new friend when he was asked another question. “My name? Oh, it’s Abel, nice to meet you Kaos,” he said with a smile as he reached out one hand towards Kaos, hoping to get a friendly handshake out of it. Of course, with a name like that, it would be easier to zero in on his gender, and it was only a minor though that came to mind when he noticed his own painted fingernails. He continued to smile though as he mentally chided himself, ‘Way to go Abel, the one day you decide to actually paint them you meet someone new, and a guy at that. Oh well, I’ve had much more awkward introductions.’ It was true too. He had once had a secret admirer confess his love for him and it hadn’t been easy not only letting the guy down softly but all the while explaining that he was a guy too. Her nervously used his other hand to move some hair out of his eyes, only to make contact with the blue butterfly hair clips he was wearing.

‘Oh great… forgot I was wearing those too…’

He just hoped Kaos wouldn’t ask as to why exactly he dressed as he did. The explanations tended to be a bit embarrassing the first time around to people who weren’t used to seeing him every day, even if they only boiled down to the key words, “Because I like to.” But it always got him weird looks at the beginning until they got to know him more. It was kind of annoying and he didn't understand it most of the time. It wasn't like he was cross dressing... much. He was just being himself. He just hoped Kaos wasn't the judgemental type, because if he was, he sure as heck would have quite a bit to judge.

"Abel, eh? Never heard that one before."

He went to shake Abels hand and saw the nails. This sorta gave him the hint that it was a girl. What kind of guy would wear nail polish anyways? With the thought out of his mind, it was time to look for that flower The youth just shook her name and looked around as he thought about what the flower may be. This Abel spoke of a flower that only grew this time of the year and it seemed like it fit the bill.

"Well I got a look at the flower in a book, so I know the mental image at least? Can you show me where it is?"

He awaited the answer and hopefully this little search would be done with! It was taking so much time and he wanted to go train already. Whine. The sun is slowly racing across the sky and it'll get around dark if they mess around and don't find this thing soon.

(SORRY FOR THE SHORT POST. I just had nothing for some reason. Hopefully my next post will be back to normal size)

((Five days for THAT?! I MEAN I NEVER! Just kidding. Take your time and if the post won’t come, don’t force it.))

“Okay. Come with me then!” Abel said with a smile. He hadn’t reacted badly at all, which was a really good sign! No weird looks, no unneeded questions and he seemed to be really friendly to boot. It just goes to show that no matter what people say about other humans being judgmental irrational creatures is just a bunch of crap in the end. There were quite a few understanding humans in the end. That or Kaos thought he was a she and it the shit would hit the fan later. But he didn’t want to think about that but rather that he now had a new friend to talk to, at least until he left for his village. He turned around and looked up at the sun, which was starting to get past noon now. If he wasn’t careful the search would take too long.

“Okay, let me think… Look for shade. So, any trees in the meadow, you’ll probably find a small little dully colored flower under it. It’s still really pretty. So, the only trees I know around here are in this direction,” he said with a smile, pointing towards a small grove of trees the people of the Hamlet had planted years back to give their hunters some shade while they were getting their food. It was far off, but that didn’t matter. If they kept moving, it would not take very long at all, perhaps only half a mile in all. It was thankful that the plains were flat or else it would be impossible to tell where anything was and it would be so easy to get lost in their rolling expanses.

He smiled and then set down his basket slowly in the tall grass, covering the grass he had picked already with a small piece of cloth. He was also leaving behind his needles, but eight were more than enough if this kid decided to play double agent, which he doubted seriously. And then, with a light step he started to jog off towards the trees. It was too hot to run outright, even if he could lower the temperature of the air around him. It also didn’t help that he was wearing sandals, not shoes proper for running, shown by the flopping sounds that came as he ran. He turned back and smiled at Kaos, saying, “Come on. It won’t take long at all!”

This is taking a longer time than I wanted. I guess it'll be worth it in the end.

As the two walked along the plains, Kaos looked around and finally caught on to something that he didn't care beforehand. This person was some type of medial ninja? The way she acted when he walked up, he could sense that slight bit of tension that she wasn't a common flower picker. The fact that she suggested this plant to be medial related should have thrown a red flag to begin with. That stuff isn't common knowledge. That meant this person was out here for a reason. Crap, he would feel bad if this was taking time away from Abel, so he figured it was best to ask. Clearing his throat, the youth spoke.

"I'm sorry for not asking this earlier, but is this affecting your day in any way? I know you were out here for a reason given the basket full of plants, but I wasn't thinking about others when I came and asked you. I hope this isn't causing you to delay something of your own."

The fact that Kaos even bothered to think of Abel in all of this made him wonder if he sorta liked this random person. Not in a physical sense(given he still think he is a she!), but her overall aura allowed him to relax and just wander around without worry. He almost forgot that he wanted to train after this. Almost. He knew of a place that he could work on his physical strength and he was in dying need of such a thing. So even if this person made him more relaxed, he still had to do that at some point. He may just make up a story about why he was a day late or something The flower could handle it, right?

"It's a nice day out."

The two continued to walk along the plain towards the trees. They would come up on the group soon and Kaos could see if this plant Abel was talking about was the real deal or not. If not? This search was going to get out of hand...fast.

“Me? Oh no, I was just gathering some dried grasses that we can use to patch up some holes in the roof of the orphanage. I got what I needed and I know where they are, so it isn’t a bother at all!” he said with a smile, twisting his head to look back at Kaos. The plains were flat enough for him to be able to run without looking where he was going for the most part. “If I didn’t have time, I wouldn’t have done this!” he continued, almost giggling at the thought. It was true about his personality. He loved helping people, no matter what he was currently doing at the time. It was always better to have no regrets than to always be on time. Plus, if it all went well, it would make for a great story for the kids and a new prospective friend. They hadn’t set a time limit for him to return, so it was as much a free day for him as anything else.

It was strange how easily he volunteered to help this person. While most people believed that you should not trust someone until they have given you a reason to trust them, he held the exact opposite view. The boy behind him was to be trusted until he gave a solid reason of why he was untrustworthy. He held that to all of the people he met and did not waver, no matter what they looked like or how suspicious they seemed. It was naïve of him, but he didn’t really care. It wasn’t up to the suspicious natures of others to change his beliefs, as they were his own. And while he could easily be killed, he could just as easily make a lifelong friend. Not to say he was stupid, he did have his needles on hand. He trusted the boy, but not to an extent that was foolish.

“Here we are! And lucky us!” Abel said as he stopped right in front of the miniature grove, staring right at a small flower that was blooming in the shade between two of them. It was a dull blue lily with a black outline and black designs genetically written in to it. It seemed like a very somber flower, something Abel would definitely connect with a grave. It was somber, yet beautiful, as was death. However, this one looked like it was on the brink of the same fate that it shared so many qualities with, and if it wasn’t watered soon, it would cross the threshold of no return. Abel looked back at Kaos and asked, “Is this the flower you are looking for? If so I can help keep it alive until you can bring it back!” He wasn’t afraid of using his bloodline in front of people, which was yet another part of him that was trusting.

Kaos watched as Abel started to run backwards. Well this kid sure was a happy one, eh? It was amazing how happy she was when living in such a place. He didn't want to be rude or anything, but Kaos knew about these types of living areas and couldn't see himself doing it. How could she be so happy? Blah, maybe she really wasn't and this was all a show. Kaos did that all the time. Instead of asking personal questions about things like that, Kaos just put both of his hands across his chest and smiled as they wandered toward the location of the flower. The youth looked around and saw that this was one of the only shady parts to the area. It only made sense that a flower like this would sprout somewhere around here. Funny how he didn't think to look here at first? If he knew more about it then maybe he would have, but Abel was being a real big help.

“Here we are! And lucky us!”
"Indeed."
“Is this the flower you are looking for? If so I can help keep it alive until you can bring it back!”
"Looks like the one from the picture. How do you plan on keeping it alive?"

He wasn't the smartest person when it came to flowers, but he figured it could live through the trip without worry. Of course, he didn't know it was about dead anyways. The one bad thing about living in the shade was the lack of sun and rain the flower got throughout it's time on this wonderful earth. Speaking of rain, Kaos noticed a little black cloud slowly hooking itself across the plains and seeming to spread out along the valley. The once bright sun was being overtaken by the darkness of the cloud and there was only one thing the youth could say to this.

"And there goes my training."

He sighed and figured it was best to just forget about it and see what this girl was talking about when she said she was going to keep the flower alive. Maybe this little 'search' could be considered his training? It wasn't in a physical sense, but he was learning a great deal about plants and tracking through the means of knowing ones surrounding. In theory, he could take this knowledge and use it on his missions. Maybe this was worth while after all?

“Easy, just watch!” Abel said with a cheerful grin. With a slow sigh, he held out his hands in front of him, closing his eyes to concentrate his power. It was hot out, so it would be harder to collect water from the dry air, so he had to cool the area around them first. He wasn’t proficient in his bloodline, he was barely able to cool down the area around him more than a few degrees, but that didn’t matter much. That was just enough to help him with what he was doing. Kaos would start to feel it, the fact that the area around him was slowly starting to become cooler. Nothing to the point of chilly, but it definitely wasn’t hot anymore. Then, focusing with all he had, he started to pull droplets of water out of the air and slowly merge them together in his hands, a small pool of water starting to form, slowly but surely.

After a minute or so, he opened his eyes and sighed once again, the ability done. He had been told about how his ancestors could use such an ability to drench an entire area and then turn it in to a frozen paradise, but for him, this was all that he had ever needed. He bent down slowly and poured the water on to the little plant which seemed to soak it up as if it had never been so happy in its entire life. Then, with a gentle scooping motion he pulled the plant and the soil around it from the ground, carefully cupping it in to his hands and cradling it carefully, being sure to lean over it slightly to protect it from the harsh sun.

“All I need to do is keep drawing moisture to the roots, keep it cool and shaded and it should be fine. We can head back to the orphanage and I’ll set up a carrier for it so that it will last until you get home if that’s okay. Or you can just risk it,” he said, wondering which he would choose. It would show a lot about the type of person he was, not that choosing any of them was a bad choice. It would just be an interesting observation on the part of the Seihizu. It wasn’t until he heard the words about training that he looked up, asking, “Oh, were you supposed to do training while you were here too? I can wait here with the flower until you’re ready.”

As the clouds continued the race across the sky, Kaos' attention was drawn back down toward the Earth. For some reason, he felt that aura once more. The sudden drop of temperature caused him to look at this female. Was this her doing? He couldn't feel a breeze anywhere and he knew it wasn't because of the rain clouds over head. No, this was something different. It was the same feeling he got when he first walked over toward Abel, but it was much stronger. This was a bloodline limit. Kaos knew about these things from other fighters, but this girl didn't give off that vibe. She wasn't a fighter at all? Then why did she have that limit? It was very interesting indeed. Kaos felt it wasn't his business to ask questions and maybe she didn't even know what special talent she had. He knew the adults, least the ones in his village, would only force her to become a shinobi and use her talents as their own.

No. I'll not say anything.

Not long after he told himself that he wouldn't tell her about her skills, she went and mentioned that she knew about them. It wasn't directly, but Kaos could pick it out that she knew what she was doing and it was clear someone had taught her in the arts of her bloodline limit. This turn of events would have caused any normal ninja to quickly tell others because it would prove to be a useful skill to have in the Valley, but Kaos turned the other cheek. He never liked the idea of forcing people to do anything they didn't want. Those people in his village had a lovely way of forcing it through schooling and saying it was just how things were. Apparently, out here, things were different. He would not disperse that peaceful nature.

“All I need to do is keep drawing moisture to the roots, keep it cool and shaded and it should be fine. We can head back to the orphanage and I’ll set up a carrier for it so that it will last until you get home if that’s okay. Or you can just risk it,”

He paused for a moment to think about it.

“Oh, were you supposed to do training while you were here too? I can wait here with the flower until you’re ready.”

Kaos sighed, " No. My training can wait until another day. I came out here to train my physical body, but this was nice too. I can always wander out here again later on. I don't want you to strain yourself on my behalf. Let's go to the orphanage."

It was at that moment that he caught on to that key word. Orphanage. So she was an orphan? She had no family to call her own? Nothing to protect. Nothing to live for. Yet she was so happy on the outside? Maybe that's why she wasn't giving off the vibe of fighting. She had no reason to do it and apparently she found another reason to live. What an interesting girl. Kaos would have to make an excuse to come back out to see her.

“It’s not a strain. It really isn’t all that hard at this level, though this is about as far as I can go without straining myself,” he said with a light laugh, remembering the days when he had first learned how to use the limit. Unlike other clans where it had to be taught, Seihizu power manifested itself rather forcefully when you were chosen to wield its power. Whether or not you wanted to learn how to use it, you figured out that manipulating water and turning it in to ice was part of who you are. It almost called out to you and it was impossible to resist. That was what got so many Seihizu in trouble during the times of war. Unable to stop using their limit, they were found out before they knew to hide it and were either slaughtered or used for fighting. Luckily, with those times past, one such as Abel were able to live their lives in peace.

“But, if you want to go to the orphanage, that’s fine too. I’m sure the kids would love to meet you!” he said with another giggle, imagining the faces of the children when they saw a ‘real ninja’! Even a trader visiting the establishment caused some stir among the tenants, even the older ones, and while he was sure that the younger ones would find this more interesting than the older, at least the older could get some information about the villages where they had family. It would be a startling thing to anyone who had never been in an orphanage before to see the true meaning of family to people who had no other family to live with. And while Abel actually still had his parents, he did not feel that they were his only family, but rather just a part of the larger family which he shared. It was probably why Kaos would mistake an orphan for not having anything to live for. It was actually the opposite. He had more than enough to live for, his family.

Abel looked out towards where the town was, squinting his eyes in the sunlight, trying his best to determine just how long it would take to get back to the orphanage. It was a good walk, but if he kept the flower sheltered and watered, he didn’t see a problem in it. “Okay, we mostly have to walk straight back the way we came. Luckily it’s just along the same way to pick up my basket too!” he said with an upbeat smile, glad to take out two birds with one stone. He would have had to gone to the orphanage and then back, leaving his guest behind, and that wasn’t exactly the kindest thing to do and it wouldn’t look well upon the hospitality of the orphanage.

With a determined nod, he turned to Kaos and said, “Okay, I think we can make it there quickly if we try. Let’s make this training for you too! See how fast we can make it. If I’m too slow, you can do laps and stuff!” He hoped the idea would sound good to Kaos, because he really hated the idea of stopping a ninja’s training. The hamlet required ninja to keep it safe, and another well trained ninja was another day they were safe from bandits.

"Lucky, indeed."
“Okay, I think we can make it there quickly if we try. Let’s make this training for you too! See how fast we can make it. If I’m too slow, you can do laps and stuff!”

The idea sounded ok to Kaos, but he wasn't really here to work on his speed. He was trying to gain some power in his upper body to increase his 'sword' strikes and allow his upper body to be as strong as his lower. A thought crossed his mind when the boy started to run backwards. He could do something like that too! Instead of a standard run, he could mix it up to fit his training needs. After a quick scan of the area to see what he could use to increase his power, Kaos figured the best bet would be to use what god gave him. Nothing like training with nothing but your own physical body!

"Sounds good to me."

Kaos suddenly hit the ground as he caught himself in a hand stand like fashion. The theory behind his training was that gravity would cause his body to push itself toward the ground and if he was able to hand walk along the ground, he would be increasing the blood flow to his arms and shoulders. He could basically bench press his entire weight the amount of time it would take them to get to the village. Abel said it was a fair distance away and anything above half a mile would be straight up torture to a normal person. This would be fun! Kaos tried his best to keep pace with the young Seihizu, but walking with his hands seemed to be a wee bit harder than he thought. He could feel the burn though and so he kept his mouth shut and his head straight.

"I'll hold off on those laps, eh?"

If Abel walked to slow down on his account, it would at least give Kaos something to focus on while he tore his muscles apart with this insane idea. He knew he would be feeling this in the morning, but the results should out weight the pain! God help him if he hits a hill or a rabbit hole. That would be hard to play off with Abel in the area. She said it was OK for him to train, but how would he put something like that off as training? Blah. Let's hope nothing like that happens.

Abel watched in surprise as the ninja bent down on the ground, using his arms as his legs. He had to stifle back a laugh of amazement and managed to just smile to show just how impressed he was, the laugh too easily mistakable for finding it funny when he really didn’t. “That’s amazing!” he said, cradling the delicate flower with the utmost care, shielding it from the sun the best he could. “I really wish I could do that, but I’m not even close to strong enough. Ninja are so full of surprises!” he mused, unable to hide the true wonder in his voice. He had seen a traveling band of circus goers once and they had acrobats like that, but to think that it could be done like that was mind boggling. Of course, it didn’t look easy, the other boy struggling with balance and the strain of his body weight on his arms, but he was doing it.

The comment on the laps caused Abel to giggle, shaking his head in mirth alongside it. “Well, I guess I can understand that. When someone is serious about something, they find any way to do it, don’t they?” he said, not so much asking a question but really just stating the obvious in this case. He knew that his bloodline was famous for having ninja within it and it made him wonder that if, with enough training, he could do such a feat. But in the end, the cons weighed heavily on the pros, for ninja, as delightful as they were, were dedicated to the art of death. A ninja could be reticent about killing, but the true path of a Shinobi was that of killing the heart, something he could never bear to do at all, even if he tried.

“So, do you specialize in anything?” he asked, trying to make conversation as they walked, spotting his basket in the distance, “You know, like jutsu or fighting?” He wasn’t sure just how much Kaos would want to talk while walking like that, however it seemed like a nice gesture. If he didn’t want to talk in the end, that was fine too. It was just lucky for him that the hunting ground around the Hamlet were perfectly flat. It still was a decent distance, but they had started to cover enough for it to be considered a good progress so far.

With every passing moment, he could feel the amount of pressure being applied to his arms kick in. It was going to be a Biatch in the morning, but he knew the end result would be worth it. “I really wish I could do that, but I’m not even close to strong enough. Ninja are so full of surprises!” Normally Kaos would have said something to this, but he was having enough trouble trying to get the walking down. The youth didn't want to be rude so he gave Abel a friendly nod and a smile. After a few minutes of his 'training', Kaos started to forget about the pain and actually started to figure out how to walk without putting so much concentration into his hands. All he had to do was keep most of his attention to the ground in front of him and he would be a-ok. He figured he would need a drink of water when they got to the village, but this was training after all. No pain. No gain.

“So, do you specialize in anything?”
"Hm?"
“You know, like jutsu or fighting?”

He had to think for a moment on how to approach this. He was a swordsman in a sense that he had his katana and he knew how to wield it, but he also had a number of jutsu in other areas too. In the beginning, he wanted to be a balanced fighter, but he knew he was slowly swinging toward the physical nature of things. His jutsu were mostly used to keep people at bay or adding to his own physical nature, so after thinking on it a little bit, he knew the answer.

"I guess you could call me a swordsman. I have a few other jutsu that I can use to attack, but I tend to stick to my speed and sword skill to get the job done. As you can see, I need to work on my strength to help with my sword attacks. Although, I wouldn't mind having a bloodline limit like yours."

It took him a second to realize what he just said. For the most part, he hated the idea of using such a thing to help him in battle because he saw it as relying on some 'birth right' and not earning his skills through hard work. But it wouldn't hurt if he could have had some special ability to aid in his own art of fighting. Oh well, he couldn't complain since he loved his own family and thinking about having any other parents was out of the question. But what if they did have it? Would his brother still be dead? The shinobi who has things like that tend to be stronger than the normal ones. Maybe he would have been strong enough to make it back alive?

Kaos sighed at the thought and shook his head as he went back to focusing on his 'training'. They should be getting close by now. Droplets of sweat slowly started to roll down his chin as he continued his hand walking.

“My what?” Abel asked, threatening to come to a complete stop but choosing not to in the end, simply because he wasn’t sure how to take what he had just heard. So the ninja knew that his abilities were dictated by his bloodline, which was something he hadn’t expected. Though, it would make sense that his family wasn’t the only one who had such powerful traits passed down by genetics. If his family had somehow managed to gain powers over generations, what stopped other humans from doing it too? And on that same subject, just how many could there be? The sheer different amount of possibilities almost bogged him down. He could manipulate water and cool down air, but what about others? They could manipulate fire, wind, earth, the sky, the seas, the ground and who knew what else. It was the first time he actually had ever thought that such abilities could ever be considered anything more than a rumor made true by his existence.

“You mean my water ability? I guess I never thought about it…” he said softly, wondering if he had any distant family within the village. Maybe they would be able to teach him to use his powers better, not that he wanted to use them for fighting. He just wanted to learn how to maybe make a bit more water or cool it a bit more so that the kids could drink more while they were playing. That or he could use water for treating their wounds and wouldn’t feel so exhausted afterwards. “I didn’t really ever think that there were other people who had powers like me… But I guess it makes sense in the end, since my mother said my grandmother had powers like this,” he said, thinking back to the stories of the grandmother he had never met, “She supposedly once stopped a whole army from invading their home town. So, I guess these abilities are powerful.”

He turned to the flower and gave it another helping of water, a smile playing on his lips as he watched the fragile plant liven up from the extra moisture. “What other kinds of abilities are there? I wonder if you can save people’s lives with them…” he thought aloud, not realizing that he was talking to Kaos as well, “It would be nice to use them to really help people out.” It was a wonderful thing to think about, but at the same time, he wondered if he was wasting his own. If he could give it away, he would in a second if the person who was receiving them would use them for the good of others. He was content living his life at the orphanage, helping out the children there, with or without his powers. But to think that someone else could use them so much more than he left him slightly at a crossroads that he could never truly consider.

“My what?”
"Ya know, bloodline limits."
“You mean my water ability? I guess I never thought about it…”
"Really?"
“I didn’t really ever think that there were other people who had powers like me… But I guess it makes sense in the end, since my mother said my grandmother had powers like this,”
"Your grandmother, eh?"
“She supposedly once stopped a whole army from invading their home town. So, I guess these abilities are powerful.”
"They are really powerful."
“What other kinds of abilities are there? I wonder if you can save people’s lives with them…”

It was at this time that Kaos realized Abel was starting to ramble. Had he said something that the girl really didn't think about? He figured she was against fighting and all, but her powers could be used for so much more than keeping flowers alive. He tried to think of a way of approaching this without looking like he was trying to force the person into jumping into being a shinobi. Hell, he hated the idea that he was forced to be one himself. He didn't want to be just like everyone else in his village.

“It would be nice to use them to really help people out.”

"You know you could help people with your powers. A shinobi's job isn't just about killing. You can use your powers to protect people...just like your grand mother did so long ago."

It actually made sense to try and take the person into using her powers. If Kaos remembered correctly, she had one of the most powerful of limits too. If he was able to somehow talk her into help protecting his 'family', he would be one step closer to obtaining his goal. Of course, he had to wrap it in a deal with protecting the Valley village, but his folks were in it. Then again, Kaos wasn't going to rush into any subject like that. He just waited for the response before he went rambling about a way of helping Abel train.

“Eh?”

Abel looked over at Kaos for a second; barely having registered that he wasn’t the only one talking anymore. He blinked a few times and then started to laugh, punching himself playfully in the side of the head in a way that Kyon would if he had been there. “Dumb scatterbrain! Sorry, I tend to do that a lot when the weather’s so warm! Rambling and totally forgetting where I am and what I’m doing!” he said, continuing to laugh. It wasn’t the full, jovial laugh of a full grown man or the mild, girly laugh of a full grown woman; it was more of a medium one, light yet not to the point of floating away. Another part of his curse was that his voice was never going to be deep, making it even harder for people like Kaos, who could have sworn him to be a her.

They finally reached the point where the basket had been left, Abel nimbly sweeping down to grab it in his hands, the woven grass it was made from rustling as he did. Skipping a few steps to catch up with Kaos, he mindlessly walked beside him, thinking very heavily as to what Kaos had said, or at least what he had heard of what Kaos had said. He hadn’t missed any part of it, but whether or not it registered was a totally different story. Thankfully he hadn’t said anything that was truly important until the last sentence, when Abel had actually started to register. He was a bit chatty when he was happy, which was different compared to most he knew, so part of him was hoping that he wasn’t annoying the ninja. That didn’t stop him from continuing though.

“I guess you’re right about Shinobi, but at the same time, I guess I don’t want to leave the hamlet or my family,” he said thoughtfully, his voice betraying his deep feelings on the subject. “I know they could do just as well without me,” he said with a smile, sounding slightly saddened, but his voice immediately picked up as he continued, “But I’d rather not force them to, ya know? And it’s sort of the thing where you really don’t want to realize that you aren’t necessary to their lives anymore. Besides, I’m not exactly the Shinobi type either. I don’t think they’d let me get away with what I do at the orphanage, looking like this I mean.”

He laughed at that, looking at his painted fingernails and toenails, realizing that he hadn’t really ever been restricted to be someone other than himself while at the orphanage. He guessed that was why he never forced himself to think very hard on the idea of becoming a Shinobi, even if it had come up before in his mind. He was really quite happy with the way his life was going and he didn’t want that to change, even if he knew it would continue to, whether he wanted it to or not. “I guess I just couldn’t ever leave them behind, no matter how much I could help others. Being a little selfish is part of our nature,” he said softly, his fingers absentmindedly sifting through the grass in the basket.

As the two continued the talk, the distance to the small village grew shorter and shorter. While Kaos was enjoying the talk, he just started to nod and listen to what Abel was saying more than talking to him. Oddly enough, Kaos wasn't the type to just talk to anyone. He had spoken more to Abel than he previously did to anyone for a while and the youth really had nothing else to talk about. Not until they got up to the orphanage at least. So for the rest of the trip, he just nodded and would say yeah to things until they got to the place.

My arms really hurt.

The moment they got to it, Kaos pushed himself in the air and finally got to his feet. His arms was really killing him and he needed a drink of water. That long distance of using just his hands really did him in. He looked around to see all of the other kids running about. Kaos wasn't that much older than most of the little ones running about. In reality, he was only 13, but he looked and acted much older. The youth looked to Abel and felt bad for asking, but he really needed it.

"Do you have something to drink? That training really did it for me. I can stay for a little while, but I must be off pretty soon. Mother will have a cow if I'm not back to the village by night fall."

He looked up at the sky as the clouds that looked as if they were going to rain slowly moved off in the distance. His talk with Abel was not ended by the weather. At least things let a friendly talk play itself out. Kaos figured he would have to come back to 'finish' this little discussion one day. But for now, he needed to get home. The sun was finally started to set in the distance and he still had a good walk to get to the Valley.

((Sorry, slightly sucky in how I wrote it. ^.^;))

They walked some more and silence seemed prevalent between them until Abel killed the silence with small talk. Kaos was amazing him on how far he could walk like that, showing just how strong ninja, even as young as Kaos, really were. It was just small talk though, nothing big enough to disturb the ninja’s concentration. It wasn’t until Kaos finally righted himself that Abel started to talk in earnest again, which actually wasn’t until they had reached their destination. The large building loomed ahead, they having just entered the large backyard. It was of an ancient design, of a period of architecture long past, and while it didn't look brand new, it definitely looked sturdy enough to hold enough people. The yard was littered with children playing around, all of which looked up as they entered.

“Okay, the orphanage is right there,” Abel said with a smile, understanding that since it was getting dark, it wouldn’t be very easy for Kaos to stay for very much longer than necessary. Luckily, the things he needed to pot the plant were all in the front and back yard, meaning that it wouldn’t be all that tough to simply transplant the little flower and then give it to Kaos so the ninja could be on his way. He would just ask the guy to come by later on whenever he was free to meet the children. It would all work out in the end somehow, even if they never saw one another again. But for now, they were still going there and now Kaos was thirsty, a common complaint amongst the kids Abel looked over and something he knew how to deal with.

“Here, I’ll get you something to drink. Just hold out your hands,” he said, stopping the user of his powers on the plant, which was now moist enough to be quite content for the rest of the now short trip. So, he could focus his powers elsewhere and give Kaos a bit of nice cold water to drink. In a place as warm as the Hamlet during the summer, his gift was a godsend for anyone who was having trouble getting to and from the village. He was constantly finding tired and thirsty travelers and it wasn’t very hard at all to help them get where they needed to go. Kaos was no different in that sense, in the fact that he really was like a traveler that Abel was so used to giving aide to. However, his help was cut short by a child latching on to his leg.

“Abel! You’re back! Who’s this guy?” the young girl said, eying Kaos suspiciously. Abel sighed and said, “Just a traveling ninja I found wandering in the fields.” He thought for a few seconds and then added, “Could you do me a favor and go get him something to drink?” The little girl nodded and ran back in to the large house, Abel sighing with a gentle smile on his face. “Well, in the end, that’s probably faster and leaves my hands free,” he said before turning to Kaos. “Okay, just let me find a pot. I’ll be right back. Feel free to look around,” he said before taking his basket and walking over to a small makeshift garden that lay in the shade of a large tree planted in the yard, being almost instantly swarmed with children of all ages around him, the younger ones climbing on to him and the older ones look up at Kaos and talking to him, asking about him. But Abel’s smile had never been more sincere and he talked to the children and searched around for a free pot.

Kaos could only stand and watch in wonder as the children swarmed both he and Abel. It was a sight to see and Kaos suddenly knew how the other could talk about the place and be serious when he said he was happy being there. Kaos couldn't stay long, but he knew he would have to come back here to fully enjoy what was going on. Kaos looked up at the sky and grabbed one of the running kids that passed by to tell them to tell Abel he was sorry, but he needed to go right away. The water could wait as he was a ninja and he could use THIS as training as well! Also he felt his stomach growling and knew it was best to get home as soon as possible.

Of course, Kaos forgot the very thing he came here to get! The plant. It just added to the reasons why he would return here. Given when he returns, the youth may have a few bruises on his face and a limp in his walk. His mother would not be pleased.

(<< Forgive this short post, Will and I will be making another thread pretty soon(after the Saga), so I figured it was best to wrap this up. Ye.)
