With Cain complaining that the board is too one sided... Why not make an elemental weakness system? That way, we can have it actually be kind of realistic? By the way, the system I am about to post has to do with the one in Naruto itself, specified when Naruto learns about weaknesses and strengths of different elements. Of course, they only used the five base elements, but here goes. Fire Beats Wind (Wind feeds fire, thus causing it to engulf the wind) Wind Beats Thunder (Wind redirects thunder) Thunder Beats Earth (Thunder's power cracks earth) Earth Beats Water (Earth absorbs water) Water beats Fire (Water extinguishes fire) Don't ask how, that's how they do it in Naruto. Now, we have more elements... So... Light Beats Dark (Duh) Dark Beats Light (Duh) Plant Beats Wind (Basic Erosion) (Plants and wood are Water + Earth) Fire Beats Plant (Burns plants) Ice Beats Plant (Freezes plants) Plant Beats Water? (I dunno, maybe? This one isn't a clean cut circle like the others...) Water Beats Sand (Too heavy to use) (Sand is Earth) Sand Beats Earth (Degrades earth to sand) Earth Beats Water (Saps up water) Fire Beats Ice (Ice = Wind + Water) (Melt) (Ice is Water + Wind) Ice Beats Water (Freeze) Water Beats Fire (Extinguish) And Sound? I have no clue. (Sound is mostly wind + vibrations, so it's Wind) So, any jutsu of a stronger element against that of a weaker, or technique, gets doubled power wise. So, a weaker water jtusu can still beat a stronger fire jutsu. However, if the fire jutsu is immensely stronger, then it will still engulf the water and evaporate it. Not totally one sided. Complications: Some elements are more complex. Like take sand versus wind or sound. Sand get's blown away. Or Sand beats fire. Sand covers up fire and suffocates it. But if the fire is strong enough, it turns to glass. In other words... MEMBER INPUT NAOW! |

Relationshop Between Elements Fire Against: Water: Although, naturally a fires worse enemy, even the power of water may null from a powerful enough blaze that's able to keep volatile. Heat is able to cause the water from jutsu to turn into steam and merely evaporate. Earth: Fire appears otherwise completely useless against the earth. Earth is unable to even be singed, and is able to blanket a fire and cause it to wither and disappear. Wind: Against an amateaur of the wind, Fire would easily eat away at the fuel which is presented for it. To the masterful user of wind though, fire could easily be redirected or even vanquished within a vacuum of air. Dark: Dark is physically unattainable by the fire element. Both appear to be ineffective against eachother. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the fire element. Both appear to be ineffective against eachother. Ice: Fire may cause ice to melt, but with it turning into water it may relinquish a fire unless avoided. Thunder: Fire and Thunder appear to be stale-mated against eachother, both relying on raw power and heat. Sound: Sound appears unable to fight against a burning flame or heat, but is unable to be stopped by the fire as well. Sand: Sand, like Earth will simply overpower a flame with a blanket. But, if the heat was ferocious enough it may turn the sand into glass. Causing the two to stale-mate. Plant: Plants, made of green flesh burn easily from an open-flame. Acting also as a fuel to keep the fire spreading, plants may stand no chance. |

Kenny's is better. It leaves more open ended RPing and makes it much less pokemon-ish than mine was. Just need to write up the elements. Good reminder of the stat relationships we wrote up for DBDS. Edit: Okay, in the actual manga, which I know is different, each element is strong against one and weak against one, a pokemonish system. At the same time, it has advantages, like the earth jutsu Deidara used being shorted out by Sasuke, so no matter how powerful the jutsu is, it has a weakness. However, Kenny's system leaves it more to be open ended, so you guys decide. Water Against: Fire: Although, naturally a fires worse enemy, even the power of water may null from a powerful enough blaze that's able to keep volatile. Heat is able to cause the water from jutsu to turn into steam and merely evaporate. Earth: Earth has a double standard when it comes to water. Water can either entirely rejected by earth when it is in the form of rock or mineral, or be absorbed in to earth when it is in the form of dirt, which can also lead to the growth of plant life. So, depending on how it is used, Earth can either help or hinder water. Wind: Wind and Water are in a very good relation to one another. Wind can manipulate water slightly; however it can do very little otherwise. So, they are at a stalemate unless combined, creating ice. Dark: Dark is physically unattainable by the Water element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the Water element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Ice: Ice, though a byproduct of Water, is also a natural enemy of its prior self. When in its frozen form, Ice can lower the temperature of Water and freeze it, causing it to join the ranks of Ice. However, warm Water can be deadly against Ice that is not reinforced. Thunder: Thunder and Water, like Earth and Water, can be one of two things. If Water is ionized, having other substances within it, Thunder is the most dangerous element that can hit it, using the ions as a way to travel through the water and strike everything within it. However, unionized pure water negates Thunder complete, electricity being unable to travel through it. Sound: Sound can do little to Water except disrupt it. However, when used together correctly, Water can amplify Sound. Sand: Sand is Water's true natural enemy, simply because the two negate one another. Being so absorbent, Sand takes in the Water and refuses to release it. This makes the Water unusable and the Sand too heavy to use, thus making both elements stalemated. Plant: Plants feed on the life giving properties of Water, making them the natural predators of the substance. If Plants get their roots within Water, given enough time they can drink every single drop. Earth Against: Fire: Fire appears otherwise completely useless against the earth. Earth is unable to even be singed, and is able to blanket a fire and cause it to wither and disappear. Water: Earth has a double standard when it comes to water. Water can either entirely rejected by earth when it is in the form of rock or mineral, or be absorbed in to earth when it is in the form of dirt, which can also lead to the growth of plant life. So, depending on how it is used, Earth can either help or hinder water. Wind: Wind and Earth are both neutral when it comes down to it. Earth can not hit the Wind for the Wind eludes its grasp, but the Wind can do little damage unless given thousands of years to slowly erode away at it. However, if the Earth is too loose, the Wind becomes a danger to it. Dark: Dark is physically unattainable by the Earth element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the Earth element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Ice: Ice is a dangerous force against Earth when used correctly. In its basic form of Ice, it can do little to no damage against the much more solid Earth. However get Water within the cracks of Earth and freeze it and the Earth will crack as the Ice expands. Thunder: Earth and Thunder are, unlike most think, linked. Lightning does not originate from the sky but rather from the charge particles of the ground and sky interacting. So, Earth is very variable as to how it is affected by Thunder, however Thunder usually has the upper hand. The power of Thunder can blast even the most solid Earth to pieces or electrify the strongest of metals. At the same time, strong enough Earth can nullify the power of Thunder. However, Earth rich in charge conducting ions means certain victory for Thunder, no matter how strong the Earth is. Sound: Earth is solid, thus it is very hard for Sound to get its vibrations through it, giving Earth the upper hand. Sand: Earth and Sand are one in the same, Sand just being a broken down form of Earth. Neither has a true power over the other, Sand is simply more maneuverable while Earth is more powerful. Plant: Earth has both strength and weakness over Plant. Plants can dig their roots in to the ground and keep it steady to strengthen it or break it apart to weaken it. Earth can reject the plants within it or accept them, so it is a stalemate. Wind Against: Fire: Against an amateaur of the wind, Fire would easily eat away at the fuel which is presented for it. To the masterful user of wind though, fire could easily be redirected or even vanquished within a vacuum of air. Water: Wind and Water are in a very good relation to one another. Wind can manipulate water slightly; however it can do very little otherwise. So, they are at a stalemate unless combined, creating ice. Earth: Wind and Earth are both neutral when it comes down to it. Earth can not hit the Wind for the Wind eludes its grasp, but the Wind can do little damage unless given thousands of years to slowly erode away at it. However, if the Earth is too loose, the Wind becomes a danger to it. Dark: Dark is physically unattainable by the Wind element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the Wind element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Ice: Wind can do little against Ice, but used together they can become a dangerous force. Wind is a necessary element for most to make Ice, combined with Water. Thunder: Against the power of Thunder, Wind doesn’t even stand a chance. Using the charge particles in the air, Thunder rips through Wind with little problem. Sound: Sound uses the vibrations of the air as its power, so disturbing the air leaves Sound at a serious disadvantage with the win going to Wind. Sand: Wind is Sand’s natural enemy. While Earth is unaffected by Wind, in its broken down form Sand can be swept away with little to no problem due to its size and inability to stick together. Plant: Plant is another natural enemy of Wind. Rooted down with Earth, even the strongest of Winds can not bring them down. That is, unless the Earth underneath them is too weak to hold. Dark Against: Fire: Dark is physically unattainable by the Fire element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Water: Dark is physically unattainable by the Water element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Earth: Dark is physically unattainable by the Earth element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Wind: Dark is physically unattainable by the Wind element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light: Light and Dark are equal and opposite forces that constantly repel against one another. Dark is pushed back by Light, which can not only come from the direct element but from the effects of other elements, such as Fire or Thunder. Darkness can also cover Light with shadows with the help of other elements, such as Earth or Plant. They are equal in strength and oppose each other constantly, the only elements that battle one another specifically. Ice: Dark is physically unattainable by the Ice element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Thunder: Dark is physically unattainable by the Thunder element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Sound: Dark is physically unattainable by the Sound element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Sand: Dark is physically unattainable by the Sand element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Plant: Dark is physically unattainable by the Plant element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light Against: Fire: Light is physically unattainable by the Fire element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Water: Light is physically unattainable by the Water element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Earth: Light is physically unattainable by the Earth element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Wind: Light is physically unattainable by the Wind element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Dark: Light and Dark are equal and opposite forces that constantly repel against one another. Dark is pushed back by Light, which can not only come from the direct element but from the effects of other elements, such as Fire or Thunder. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Plant: Light is physically unattainable by the Plant element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Dark: Dark is physically unattainable by the Ice element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the Ice element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Thunder: Ice is easily destroyed by the brute force and heat of Thunder, conductive or not. Sound: Ice and Sound have little to no effect on one another. Sand: Sand and Ice, unlike Sand and Water, have little affect on one another in those forms. Plant: Plants are exceedingly weak to Ice as most of their structure is filled with water, thus allowing them to be frozen from the inside out. Thunder Against: Fire: Fire and Thunder appear to be stale-mated against each other, both relying on raw power and heat. Water: Thunder and Water, like Earth and Water, can be one of two things. If Water is ionized, having other substances within it, Thunder is the most dangerous element that can hit it, using the ions as a way to travel through the water and strike everything within it. However, unionized pure water negates Thunder complete, electricity being unable to travel through it. Earth: Earth and Thunder are, unlike most think, linked. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the Thunder element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Ice: Ice is easily destroyed by the brute force and heat of Thunder, conductive or not. Sound: Thunder and Sound are unrelated at best unless you count the sound of lightning; however they do not interact much. Sand: Sand and Thunder are stalemated against one another in a way. Sand, due to its property of changing and flowing constantly, is usually unaffected directly by the power Thunder, however the heat afterwards will most likely melt the Sand in to glass. Plant: Plants have a strange relationship to Thunder. When hit by it, they are not affected by the electricity; however that resistance causes an enormous amount of heat, boiling the sap or water within the Plant. So, while plants and trees can stop Thunder, they will be destroyed in the process. Any trees used to stop thunder will explode due to the highly resistant qualities of sap. Sound Against: Fire: Sound appears unable to fight against a burning flame or heat, but is unable to be stopped by the fire as well. However, a large enough sound, being air vibrations, means a large enough disturbance to cancel a fire, but that is exceedingly hard to do. Water: Sound can do little to Water except disrupt it. However, when used together correctly, Water can amplify Sound. Earth: Earth is solid, thus it is very hard for Sound to get its vibrations through it, giving Earth the upper hand. Wind: Sound uses the vibrations of the air as its power, so disturbing the air leaves Sound at a serious disadvantage with the win going to Wind. Dark: Dark is physically unattainable by the Sound element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Light: Light is physically unattainable by the Sound element. Both appear to be ineffective against each other. Ice: Ice and Sound have little to no effect on one another. Thunder: Thunder and Sound are unrelated at best unless you count the sound of lightning; however they do not interact much. Sand: Sand acts as a natural buffer against Sound, the vibrations slowing down as they have to travel from one particle to the next. Plant: Plants have no way to tell Sound is occurring, thus are not affected. Sand Against: Fire: Sand, like Earth will simply overpower a flame with a blanket. Sound: Sand acts as a natural buffer against Sound, the vibrations slowing down as they have to travel from one particle to the next. Plant: Plants and Sand do not like each other. Without specialized root systems, plants can not get a grip in to the sand to get Water, however it is not as if Sand can do real damage to it. Plant Against: Fire: Plants, made of green flesh, burn easily from an open-flame. Acting also as a fuel to keep the fire spreading, plants may stand no chance. Water: Plants feed on the life giving properties of Water, making them the natural predators of the substance. UGH! Sound is beastral!!! Vibrations can go through solids and liquids. So it is effective against water (ripples anyone? the sound ripples out through water, if the mass of water is too great for the vibration, it simply disappates), ice (its a solid, run a vibration through ice, it cracks), earth (solid? conducts vibrations), and plant (solid, conducts vibrations). It is harmless against fire (not really solid, atoms move too fast), sand (particles too small to conduct through), dark and light (natural unrelated), wind (stronger vibrations of air), and thunder (not related). Stronger sound vibrations disrupt weaker sound vibrations. And that is about it. Naturally, if someone were to conduct a sound attack and run the vibrations through the ground, the vibrations can not be disrupted unless they met with another element. Same with the others, a fire blast will continue to rip through plants or ice until it meets water. |

What happens if you combine elements. Such as Earth and Water = Mud. What would Mud weakness be? |

Mud is just wet earth. No real elemental weakness or strength, prolly just a bit of water and earth weakness. Any that should have been combinable were combined already, such as Ice and Plant I believe. |

I was just thinking... Wouldn't the crystals in Ice help to amplify and concentrate Light? Don't kill me for this (seriously), but there was that filler in the Nano Country. <_< Relationship of Ice and Light: While physically unattainable to each other, there is a special relationship between the two. The crystaline form of ice can reflect the light and bounce it off of itself, thus amplifying its power. Also, if the ice is in the proper form it is able to concentrate the amplified light, increasing its power even more. Change the wording up however you wish, just a rough format and I'm not very elegant with words. Also, its only a suggestion. Discuss! |

That's true, but that is more of an abstract relationship. Ice can also block light just as earth can create shadow, making darkness stronger, or that fire can create a form of light or that thunder creates a powerful burst of light. This is more about how, when pitted against one another, how the two will react. |

Ooh. Time for a random fun fact. Myth Busters actually proved that sound CAN put out fire. It just has to be in a GREAT quantity of it. So someone really skilled with Sound CAN defeat Fire. |

<_< KISS Keep it simple, stupid. That shit up there? Your trying to turn a simple Naruto system into some complex thing that breaks everything down to be strong or weak against EVERY thing. When was the last time people actually fire two different types of jutsu at each other? Anyone with a little common sense will know what can block/defend another. Fire is all about power, but it lacks any real defense. Water has no 'real' defense' and it really lacks a good attack power, but it is dangerous in large amounts. Plus the whole drowning thing comes into play. Earth is mostly used for defense, but there are things like spikes and earth bullets that can be used to attack. 'Thunder' is very powerful, but it takes a true master to control it fully. It's speeds are unmatched. Wind is a balance in both attacking and defense. It can push things away while it can be used to destroy things pretty easy as well. The only 'element' wind can't control is thunder(anyone ever seen air stop a bolt of lightning?). |

You don't really need a system for this. It's mostly common sense. If someone fails to understand common sense, they need to GTFO. The only people who you may have a problem with are the iffy god modding type. Everyone else tends to roll with the punches or least understands when someone complains. |
