And it’s time, yet again, for a suggestion from Will! Actually two suggestions really. Ahem, suggestion number one! A bit of a revamp to the grading system. Draven brought up a wonderful point when he was bitching that people were giving me undeserved 15s. And yes, Draven, you were, so don’t argue; I would have done the exact same thing had I not been the one getting the points. XP I know length only counts for 1/5 of the grade, but it got me to thinking… Does anyone else remember Romeo von whatshisface? How he used to do STs that were a good 50 pages long? Well, by our current system, for all that work, he would get… a max of 15 points~! Now, if I’m correct, our current system was made so that those who didn’t split up their threads in to more posts would not get slashed for it. On the same point, we shouldn’t slash those who don’t want to split up the action of their threads with a ‘TBC’. So… let’s choose a number of words that makes a thread a 3 in length. Say… 5,000? I’d say that sounds good and even, that or 7,500, though 7,500 seems a bit much. Now, whenever someone reaches X words, we split it around that point and start grading again for a ‘second’ grade. Now, we all use word when grading to check for grammar and spelling anyway, so word counting shouldn’t be a problem, right? Just use word count application. So, let me give an example… Person 1 writes a 7,500 word ST. So, part 1 is 5,000 words. Part 2 is 2,500. Each part would be graded separately. Now, what would be the specifics? First of all, part 1 would have a 0 for closing as it wasn’t concluded... o.o? Wait, one second…. *looks at grading system* Just as a side point, why does the first part of the thing say consistency and the other say closing? I think someone needs to explain that…. Anywho… Back to my little side thing. So, that way, someone like Draven, who wrote a lot more of the same quality will get a slightly better grade if they deserve it. It isn’t quantity over quality as you can still give straight 0s for elongated crap. Anyway, whadya think? To make your lives easier, we can even add a word count to the finished topic sheet if need be. Second idea! NPCs mods! Do we still need/use/want them? If so, are they just random occurrence creators? If so… can I be one? I dunno, it just seems to fit my entire flighty RP style, going from one idea to the next. <.<; I also think they could be a wonderful addition to the site, just adding a bit of flavor to it. |

We had a second grading set once someone cleared like 25 posts or something. The moment people figured that out, they would do the basic amount to get two 25 grades and get way more than the norm. Now I'm personally against the whole length thing. Sure, length is fine and dandy, but it doesn't make the story. There are reasons why I dropped out of Roo's site. Everyone was writing ******* novels and I don't like that type of roleplay. Now I agree that the system was being abused with all the 15s and shit. But now the current grades seem to have it down to 7-8s which is a good thing. As for the NPCs, I think we are discussing something of the sort in a different thread? |

Point taken I guess. As for NPC mods, those are set NPCs to a certain character, at least the covenant. I mean a mod that makes random threads with totally random, one time NPCs to give people something new to RP. |

Ugh, I wasn't complaining. I was just being stuck-up
XD I agree about the grading system. NPC mods? Well, we don't use them alot. What we should do is make trainers and other important characters that can help in development and such. I personally think that Village Mods can handle their NPCs such as the Kages and important political members of the village. Now for the unclaimed territories and Qin, maybe trainers should be made or something.... I don't know.... just throwing out ideas. |

I just woke up and its 2 here so bare with what I'll have tosay. i might have misread stuff and this may be read as having been written by a drunk person but im not...drunk. So length? errr... Imma have to go with Kaos on this one. Im not up for it though I do like writing lengthy sheets. I mean, if we have standards for length then what about quests??? O_o Uber headache. XD Im not the one to have a great influence on this being a new mod and all but that's just my opinion. Word Count wouldn't mean anything in place of making one sentence per paragraphs. XD DBH taught me that. O_o As for NPC Mods, sure Village Mods can handle their own NPCs in their villages but there will be places in the boards with no Village Mods, like Draven said, and there are times when Village Mods aren't that active. *points at random person* Plus, individual RPers might not go to the Village Mod directly if they need it be. I mean, the whole point of the Covenant is like training newbies of the board. Some of the new members have gone missing cause they can't figure out stuff and the mods seemed scary and distant from them. *points to random newbie who YIMed her* The Covenant, if approved, would then be stickied to a public board so people could sign up with an NPC character they want to train with. *thread, not a whole board* So there's my idea. No, i didnt have a drunk before coming here. I dont drink. Not of legal age and furthermore.... *sleeps* |

The reason people were getting fifteens is because you people were being too nice. In order to get a three in anything it should be 'outstanding', literally. You should actually have noticed that such and such stood out a lot. Such as Will's [usually] flawless grammar. If someone just has good grammar, but it's not outstanding, give them a two. It's that simple, honest. And I have never used Microsoft word for any of my tasks on this board, ever. For the record. NPC mods have never been used as far as I can remember. Most likely because this ga-System makes no sense, nobody could ever figure out how to do it! (I'm willing to bet only Will and one other guy here will actually get that, but it was oh-so worth it) |

Eh, I just don't like the idea of having to split a thread in half to get fair gains, that's all. As for NPC Mods, I don't think you guys are getting what I'm saying. A NPC mod wouldn't create an NPC to interact with the board permanently. It's not like the covenant at all. The covenant is each person getting an NPC that interacts with the board as a permanent feature. A NPC mod would be like.... Someone who creates an open topic in a swamp with a totally random made up character. Another PC character would join and RP until the end of the thread, giving them a new look on life, using a character that is 'out of the ordinary'. And then, once the thread is over, the NPC goes poof. Then the NPC mod makes another topic with another totally made up NPC to give someone else a chance. Mostly, a NPC mod would be someone who creates a special situation every once in a while for members. Mostly, random occurrence threads. |

The covenant is pretty much a feature than a free willy kind of thing. It sets out to... *points to other thread* Anywho, I dont use MS Word too Mattox and I have no idea on what you just said. But thats probably because Im still a new mod. weeeehhh! And I also go with you (matty) on this one (about the grading stuff). Its like a precise art and being nice or evil isnt an option. we just have to look at it down the middle. |

Haha, Matt. Anywho... That topic just needs a bit of a clean up, because it has been edited so many times in different places that some of the info is a little useless or doesn't make much sense. I think the grading system is like Version 7 =P But the basics of it are: You grade somebody from 0-3 depending on how well they did. This grade is given to five different things. 0 - it means terrible 1 - it means average 2 - it means abover-average 3 - it means spectacular Grade how it is set... If you are grading somebody 15 on the topic, you have better of read that ENTIRE thread because it was that interesting. If you are just skimming and then decide, "hehe 15", then it surely isn't good enough to hold that much of your attention. As for the whole length thing... just no... If I were to write a detailed seven paragraphs of how this one drop of sweat fell from my character's forehead that had nothing relevant at all to anything.... should I be graded good on this? Hell no. We should be encouraging QUALITY-length, not just pure mountainous text. |

Keep the scale as it is. Even if it got changed to a 25 or 50 point scale, you know some queefs would still complain about "low" scores, even if they get a 10 in the 25 point scale/20 in the 50 point. No matter how you change it, some queef will complain about the grade. |

A new addition to this. Kill the suggest an item, suggest a mission, suggest a jutsu and clan suggestion threads. They are rarely looked at and those who actually use them as per the rules state are usually just overlooked. |
