Shining Finger!!!
|
A slight breeze picked up as Brandy walked toward the city musing to her self, "So this is Terra. The worlds largest city, center of the merchants road, and land of 1,000 marks." It didn't seem too different from anything she had seen before. The once tall buildings were now falling apart. In fact it was few and far between that you found a building that didn't show signs of an old battle. The one thing that made it different from other cities she had been to was the sheer amount of people, most of which appeared to be travelers. The world was full of travelers these days, she would know being one of them. The main difference between Brandy and the other travelers was that she could survive out in the wilderness and in the city alone. She didn't need to patron the hundreds of inns dotting every road. With all the vagrants now adays an inn seamed to be the business to run, that or a pub. Brandy stopped and looked around agian. Her thoughts had run away with her and she was now in a great open plaza. Stalls littered the streets and each window was filled with a sample of the goods inside. Once agian striding off down the path into the marketplace, she cracked her knuckles and thought, "Time to go to work." Walking around looking for the perfect mark she saw a wallet so easy to snatch she almost did so by instinct alone. After taking a few steps she opened it and pulled out a strange piece of paper. It was the only thing in the wallet and she could only assume that it had a snide remark written on it. That was untill the paper lit on fire and then exploded. the exploding tag was not designed to harm, but instead be very loud and visible. At once the entire square was looking at her including the owner of the wallet. After flashing him a quick smile Brandy instantly fled into the crowd. At first those who were watching the incident gave her a wide breath, much to her dismay, but after a few yards people could care less about the young girl running past. After running close to an apple cart she quickly grabbed one. "No use in being subtle now," she thought. Soon after when she thought her victim was out of sight Brandy transformed into a girl with waist length red hair and a much fuller figure. Her skills could not change her clothes, but there were advantages to wearing baggy clothes. Brandy's shirt that was a little loose was now stretching and the change in her height had turned it into a halter top. Her long baggy pants no longer bunched together at the bottom. This of course brought much attention her way. Usually this was good but not today. "Note to self find a plain looking girl to assume the identity of." Brandy yet again thought to herself. Brandy walked off looking for a place to lay low while her would have been victim searched the square. Ducking into an alley between shops she sat cross legged behind a dumpster. Taking a bite of her apple, that might be her only meal tonight, Brandy began to think of what she could do for the rest of the day. The marketplace was shot. It would take two or three days for the shopkeepers to forget about her, a hazard of being so noticeable. Brandy could always go out in a disguise, but that was her trump card and she liked to save it for when it was necessary, or really fun. It was just then that a voice said, "You could always go legit. With skills like yours there are plenty of legal ways to make a buck." Leaping to her feet Brandy saw it was the man whos wallet she had stolen, and immediately ran off. However as she turned to run the man was quickly in front of her again. "Relax, I'm not going to turn you in. In fact..." "Like hell I'll relax," Brandy shouted cutting the man off, and ran directly up the side of the shop. A quick look behind her showed that the man was gone, most likely in the shop trying to head reach the roof before her. This assumption however could not have been farther from the truth. When Brandy turned to watch where she was running the man was directly in front of her. Startled Brandy lost her footing, and fell backward. The man surprised as well gave chase just to see the young girl right herself and land in a roll. The fall was maybe twenty-five feet but from the angle she was falling most people would have broken a few bones, and hopefully one of those would not be her neck. Then again most people had never been on a trapeze. The game went on like this for a little longer. Brandy would run off and try to hide, and he would already be there. That is until he shouts, "Thats enough!" Then makes a few weird motions with his hands, after which a huge force seams to be pushing down on Brandy. Already reaching her physical limit the genjutsu brings our heroine to her knees as she pants, "Alright... you have... my attention...." "Very good," the old man starts to lecture, "you have a lot of skill in the use of chakra, and incredible agility. What village are you from?" Brandy very confused by all this responds, "What the hell are you talking about. I'm not from any 'village' and what the hell is chakra?" The old man was quiet for a moment. He looked over the young girl with a new found interest. She used ninja skills. But had no idea what chakra was, and the look on her face when he had used hand seals seamed to imply that she had never seen them either. Deciding to start talking again before she surprised him again and escaped his genjutsu, he began, "A village is where ninja go to live work and train, and chakra is the power we use for our skills. Skills like the one you used to climb that wall." With a laugh Brandy responds, "Oh so thats what you fools out here call yourselves 'ninja'. Well where I come from we work wherever thier was a mark and lived and trained in an old beat up building. We were too far away from the 'big cities' for the mighty 'ninja' to care, and as for your chakra. We called it chi." The old man now surprised again walks over to her and with a hand on her chin he attempts to get a better look at her face. Brandy however wanted none of this. She wretched like she was about to spit on the man but instead of saliva a stream of flames shot from her mouth. All surprises aside the man dodged easily, and responded simply with, "Curiouser and curiouser. Well that settles it. From this day on you will be my student." "Like hell..." "You will be my student, or I will turn you over to the authorities." The old man obviously had things he could teach Brandy, and considering the alternative Brandy reluctantly she agreed, and the old man removed his curse and brought her back to his place. Brandy had some second thoughts, but she had been in worse situations before. Thinking back to the last time an old man forced her to be his pupil she then decided that this might turn out okay. They were standing in front of a broken down building, much like any other broken down building in the city when the old man said, "And this is it." "This?" "Yup. What were you expecting?" "Well with all your big 'ninja training' talk I was expecting something with at least a courtyard to train in." "Ninja lesson number one... looks can be, and often are, deceiving." Opening the door and walking in to a very normal antechamber. Taking off his shoes and putting on a pair of slippers he turns to Brandy, sees her bare feet, and frowns. Looking down Brandy sighs and says, "Don't worry I won't bring dirty footprints onto your clean floor." Reaching behind her Brandy pulled out a pair of cotton slippers in the same color as her pants, and puts them on. Now at ease the old man leads her into the house proper. the inside was quite different. The anteroom led into a large open room. Apparently the entire first floor of the building had been opened up for this one room. Looking back with a smile he says, "Why practice in a courtyard where everyone can see you." After that the rest of the house seamed ordinary. The second floor held three small bedrooms, a living area, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The entire house was functional to a point. The living area was scarcely decorated and the bed rooms had a bare minimum. All in all it seamed a great learning environment, no distractions. After the tour he leads brandy back to the first floor where he opens a cabinet and asks, "Do you know how to use any weapons?" "I'm not bad with a staff or pole-arm. In fact I had one when I started this journey but it broke..." There was a rustling and the sound of cloth on metal before the old man threw Brandy a brand new Halberd: five foot shaft, one foot blade; detachable, iron, breaks down into three pieces each attached by a chain. Before Brandy could appreciate the new weapon he tossed her a leather satchel. A quick look inside found a large set of knives. The old man asked "Will that weapon work for you?" Brandy responded with a nod, before he took it back, and placed it on a stand. "The kunai are easy to get you can have those now. In fact I think you should get used to wearing them, but the blade you have to work for. Once you have completed your training its yours." after seeing the intent way Brandy was staring at the stand he said, "So I don't have to disclipline you for trying later go pick it up." Brandy did as she was told and approached the stand that held her prise. The weapon did not weigh that much, but for how much she could lift it, it might have weighed a ton. After a few embarasing moments struggling with the weapon she looked at the old man and before she could speak he said, "Lets just say that stand is very special. Now I want you to place that bag on your belt then come sit over here and we will begin your first lesson." Following orders she joined the old man on a set of cushions in the corner. As soon as she sat down he began his lecture, "A ninja needs to give form to his energy in order to use a skill. This is done through hand seals. You seam to lack a need for this so far, but you never know when you will need them and so I at least wnat you to be able to make any seal at a moments notice." He then went on about the twelve seals named for the zodiac and showed her each. After this He would show Brandy a seal and have her attempt to recreate it. Brandy loved being tutored in all aspects because it meant she had someones full attention, so she in return gave him her full attention. The seals themselves were not hard to make, in fact the challenges were quite simple untill he stopped showing and just said the name and expected to see the sign. They had gone through the entire set at least five times so it only took a few tries before using the right seal, but each miss did not go well with the old man. He began to lecture again, "It may not seam like a big deal now but when you have a split second between the tiger seal and being impaled, it matters. When your halfway through a technique and the next seal decides whether the fire ball shoots off or explodes in your face it matters." Brandy mused to herself that she had never had any problems with fireballs before. "But all things considered that was a good first day. Now go clean up you look like you haven't bathed in days. I'll have a meal waiting in your room when your done." Tears of joy filled Brandy's eyes, "Days it's been over a month since I've had a proper bath." Running off upstairs she takes her last set of clean clothes and goes into the bathroom. A few long relaxing hours later Brandy makes her way back to her room and finds a tray on her desk. The sun had set and a small desk lamp illuminated the room and revealed a sandwich, a jug with water, a glass and a note. It read: After your earlier comment I decided something hot would go to waste before you got out, so I made you this sandwich. Don't stay up too late, for physical training starts tomorrow. |

The next morning Brandy was awoken suddenly, as the blinds in her room were suddenly pulled back, and she was greeted by her old nemesis... the sun. "One day I'll get you for this Sol." Brandy mumbled as she burrowed between her pillows, which were immediately pulled away along with her blankets. Brandy now waking up shouted, "What do you think your doing? Barging into a girls room and stripping her of her covers. For all you knew, I was Naked." The old man responded simply, "If you were to sleep nude on your first night in a strangers house you deserve to be exposed." Brandy slightly blushed, and could think of nothing of a response so she changed the subject. "So do we eat before or after breakfast?" she asked. "We will first do some stretches and light exercise to awaken your mind and body. Then we will eat. Meet me downstairs when your ready." After a few morning necessities and some primping to impress no one in particular Brandy made her way downstairs. The old man was sitting cross legged just off center in the room, and he rose when she approached. "Now I'm going to start off slow and simple, and I want you to follow my movements. When you are ready I will get faster and harder. Do you understand?" Brandy nodded in response and the old man entered what looked like a fighting stance. He moved in long elegant strokes, and Brandy did what she could to mimic him. After a few moves he spoke again, "With each strike I want you to focus your chakra into your hands, into the blow, and release it before you start again." Brandy did not responded only followed his orders. Brandy had decent control over her chi, she had been the most skilled student of her old master in that fact. The old man seemed to call it chakra, but that really didn't change anything. She had never had any real martial arts training, so this seamed new to her. In fact Brandy was quite useless in hand to hand combat. She could use a staff or pole arm, which led to the first of two adages she used as a response to her ineptitude, 'speak softly and carry a big stick.' Although Brandy hardly ever spoke softly it got the message across. The other was a claim that she was 'a lover not a fighter' which was usually followed by, 'or at least a runner.' Stopping abruptly the old man walks to the stairs and says, "At least your mind is awake." Brushing off her apologies he consoled, "Don't worry you weren't bad down their, and I'm not worried at all about you paying attention in our next lesson." Breakfast was light and like her dinner before made a very small dent in Brandy's hunger. That little voice, however, Brandy was quite adept at ignoring, and both meals were much better than just the apple she thought she would be eating. |

don't bother finishing, you messed up. 1) this is a western character sign up sheet and you have an eastern clan, that's a no go and 2) he's a Uchiha. this is a shelved clan meaning that no NEW characters can be made for this clan because there are too many of them already ( linkage ) . all of the Uchiha that you see in the sign up now are those that are redoing their characters by adding on history, appearance, etc... 3) I don't know if it's a rule or not but I have known some mods like Geki (who is no longer here) to not allow people to have their first character be part of a clan, but I may be wrong about that. so yeah sorry to burst your bubble but try again... |

After breakfast the two made their way downstairs, and walked back to the spot where they had been exercising. Once they had reached the spot the old mans body suddenly tensed as he spun around and attempted to knock Brandy's feet out from under her. Brandy watched all this like it was in slow motion. She tried to jump, but could not move fast enough, and got swept to the ground. The old man instantly began one of his lectures, "Whenever we train I am no longer your teacher. I am your opponent. I will take any opportunity to attack. I will attack you when I feel like it, and you will defend yourself. Understood?" As a response, Brandy swept her leg out to trip the old man only to hit nothing but air, as he deftly stepped backwards avoiding the blow completely. He then continued, "Good. It may seam unfair and terrible at first, but soon you will realize that although it's terrible. It gets results." With this He attacked. Anyone who had seen the man fight before could tell he was holding back. Moving at a sluggish pace and pulling his punches, but if they continued to watch they would realize that if the girl got better he would too. Staying constantly out of reach, but close enough to keep hope. While he was holding back the old man had no mercy. Any mis-move, any opening and Brandy would be hit with, what she thought was, a crushing blow. In the exact opposite condition was Brandy. Fighting with all her might, looking hoping and waiting for a break in his attacks to lodge a counter. It was all that she could do to block, and every time she began to be able to see his blows coming, defend and almost counter attack the old man got better. This training was exactly like everything else she had done for the past eight years. If she wanted to get better she had to take it, and hope the scars were worth it. The pair trained like this off and on for five hours when the old man suddenly broke off his attack and walked toward the stairs, calling behind him, "Lunch time," to his bewildered student. The mention of lunch brought fourth a mighty growl from Brandy's stomach, and she quickly followed the old man up the stairs. Once she had caught up the old man told her to go wash up, their physical training was over for the day, and lunch would take a while. Returning from her shower she found a very large meal waiting for her. She now understood why her other meals were so small. Breakfast to keep her light on her feet after training, and dinner because come supper time neither of them would be very hungry. After lunch the old man would drill her on hand seals and teach her small tricks to help chakra control. Every day for the next month was like that. A steady cycle of: stretches, breakfast, physical training, lunch, mental training, dinner and chores. "What! chores?" "Yes chores you think I'm going to let you live in my home and spend my time training you, and ask for nothing in return. Now be quite and start cleaning. After this you can clean your things. I don't think that outfit can hold any more sweat." The chores were simple but necessary, and Brandy didn't mind them much. Over the passing days her training got even harder, as the old man made let her use kunai and Ninjutsu, but with each advantage he gave her that was just more energy he fought with. After a month the old man deemed her ready of the mean streats of Terra. He made an elaborate ceremony out of giving her the blade he had promised, although to Brandy's surprise he had something else. He pulled out a strange piece of black cloth with a metal plate bolted to it. The plate had been polished to a mirrors shine, and with it came a speech, "With this headband I certify you a true ninja. It is my greatest wish that one day a great villages symbol will adorn this sash." As he tied it behind her head and on her brow. It was kind of gaudy but she liked it and responded, "I will do my best to make you proud." With a tear he responded, "You already have child." Brandy then said, "Come on old man we've only known each other for a month and here you are acting as though I'm your only child going off to war!" Both had a good laugh at this before Brandy rose to her feet, rested her pole arm on her shoulder, and walked off toward the front door. Picking up her traveling bag and walking out the door she turned and said, "Don't worry I'll get a symbol on this plate even if I have to start my own village. And then, I'll come back to brag about it." With that the door was closed and for now the old man was out of her life. Just like the time she had left her old master however, Brandy could not shake the feeling that she would see him again. Pulling her headband off she remarked to it, "But Now what am I to do with you. One somersault and you'll fly from my forehead." after thinking for a moment she exclaimed, "I've got just the place!" and tied the headband so it hung around her belt right next to her kunai bag. After this she separated her weapon and hung it over her opposite side, and walked off into the city, now sure she was ready for the city of one thousand marks. |
