Grenade Bomb (Lv2)

When Sniper awoke that morning, he had a strong suspicion that he would not have a mission that day. And he was right. Not long after he awakened, he discovered that his mission to Kalm had been canceled that day. Instead, he was too report to his commander for a morning of field exercises to, as they supposedly said, ‘get their lazy asses in shape’. His unit was not exactly in the most tip top form, which was precisely why they had not managed to enter the SOLDIER program, or so their commander said. He called them lazy, stupid, and various other unpleasant expletives, and often resorted to scare tactics to make them so much as move in the morning. And thus, after much ‘coaxing’ by his commander, he finished the exercises and left for the day. ‘Finally…’ he thought absently. ‘Free time. Away from ShinRa and away from the commander…’ So now he was wandering around the various sectors of Midgar, trying to kill time. He’d already tried working on his skills with a rifle, but that had grown dull after he shot the apple core off the church roof so many times. Plus he’d scared the neighborhood kids when he accidently missed the last time and hit a window and shattered it into a million pieces. So after getting yelled at by an angry mother, who called him several shocking names which consisted of idiot, moron, blathering fool, and few others that will remain unnamed, Sniper made a hasty retreat. Now he was standing in the middle of Sector Six, wondering if he should venture to the Honey Bee Inn. He’d never been in there before, and the chicks were hot. ‘Nah…not in the mood.’ He thought, smirking just slightly as he thought of his parents in Gongaga, and how they would react if they knew he was considering going into a brothel. He looked furtively in the direction of the inn, but didn’t go much further, choosing to stand and look around instead. There wasn’t much else to do anyway. |

The day had started like most of mornings had after his ascension to the rank of third-classed. He had stepped onto the cold floor of his room, paying little attention to the lump of flesh under the covers still. He had a funny feeling that his anger towards her wishes was going to be the deal maker or breaker of their relationship. As he ended his task of placing on his uniform on, he noticed that she had risen. Her eyes barely opened, hair pushed around awkwardly, but her beauty remained in his eyes. The only reason why he choose to work with Shin-ra was to give her the life style that she deserved. He had promised her that he would give her the world and he had yet to break that promise. As he latched his katana to his armor, he looked at her, a sly grin growing on his face. "Hey there beautiful." He said, his smile reaching its prime form. She returned the gesture while rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Hey..." Her voice was like an angel's touch, restoring faith and giving him the strength to progress through the day. "I'm grateful for you, love." "Why's that?" she said, her smile ever growing. "You're a godsend...my little angel." She closed her eyes, embracing his words. Her smile had expanded to cover every inch of her face. But when she opened them, she started to frown. He had vanished in the passing seconds, leaving her alone in the small room that they called a bedroom. Of course the rest of their home was not small, it was more than adequate for them both: a gift from Shin-ra to their newly promoted SOLDIERs. Korii had dusted himself as he landed on the ground. His training that day was quite simple, a standard briefing of the following day's mission and a simple duel/training session with another third class. As the day came to its peak, Korii found himself walking through the lower section of the sixth sector in Midgar. He hadn't been a social person so he wasn't real familiar with the lower levels. Apparently the "slums" was a land of brothels and such. A playground most would say is similar to a red light district. He looked up, the people of Midgar moving around him, but a single shape before the SOLDIER stuck out. A man carrying a rifle, probably another member of Shin-ra. Korii moved through the crowd, his eyes locked on the figure. "Yo!" He yelled, hoping the air would carry his voice to the armed man. "Yo, you with the rifle!" |

Sniper was beginning to wonder just what he was doing here if he wasn’t here for any of the unsavory pastimes that went on here. He was bored and really didn’t feel up to do anything more than wandering around. Sighing heavily, he turned and started to head off to where he knew a nice bar was. If he gave them a glare and showed them his shiny ID from the ShinRa his age wouldn’t matter; they’d let him have a drink or two, just so they wouldn’t have to deal with any trouble. It wasn’t like they could tell the difference between a lowly Sentry member and a SOLDIER, anyway. Cracking his back absentmindedly, he suddenly heard a voice sound out from behind him. He turned to see a uniformed man standing there, clearly a SOLDIER, a Third Class judging on his dress. "Yo, you with the rifle!" Sniper turned back around, giving him a quizzical stare. What did this guy want? While looking at him, Sniper felt a ripple of something uncomfortable beneath the surface of his consciousness. He pushed it aside, determined to ignore it. He had left those feelings buried, and they would stay buried. His brow was nit in concentration, and then he remembered he had to reply, considering he was being a bit rude not replying to someone of higher rank. He pushed a gloved hand through his neon green hair, sighing, before he finally said, “Yeah? What do you want?” It wasn’t like there were many guys running around with huge rifles on their back, or guys with neon green hair either. |

“Yeah? What do you want?” Was he serious? I should knock him out just for....ugh, son of a... His thoughts were submerged in a rising sea of anger. It was probably the day's boring events that lead the SOLDIER for wanting action. Not to mention the conversation with his girlfriend that night before hadn't made him any happier. Luckily for the man before him, Korii did not have his robe cloaking his body so when he placed his hand on his katana, he hoped it would instill some fear into the figure. Korii had guessed him to be a boy, from his lack of facial hair and youthfully features. Placing his other hand on his hip, he grinned knowing what the boy probably really was: a lowly member of the Shin-ra "police force." "So, I'm guessing you are....?" He let the question hang in the air. "-a Shin-ra agent? I'm guessing that's why you carry your fire arm openly...." He let the question/observation trail off. His thoughts drifting his future at home. A gentle wind carried across the air, pushing through his hair and sending a chilling jolt up his spine. "So what is it?" |

Sniper felt a ripple of anger begin to boil just beneath the surface, but he kept his temper in check. Getting angry at an arrogant SOLDIER was certainly not the way he felt like spending his day off, so wasting energy was fruitless. Yet despite how much he tried to convince himself of that, the anger remained and continued to rise. However, he was good at hiding his emotions for the most part, because he was good at putting on a front of nonchalance that would make anyone curse. If anything, it would be this guy who would get extremely angry, not Sniper. He cocked a brow at the displeasure in the SOLDIER’s eyes, noting how he attempted to intimidate him with his weapon. ‘Nice try...’ he thought, smirking mentally. ‘But I’ve seen five year olds with sling shots scarier than that. He must be mad if he’s trying to unsettle me.’ But then the guy had to go and open his mouth, and this is what got Sniper truly…irritated. "So, I'm guessing you are....?" He let the question hang in the air. "-a Shin-ra agent? I'm guessing that's why you carry your fire arm openly...." The contemptuous air to the words, the petty vanity…that was what annoyed Sniper. His gaze hardened just slightly, barely noticeable, but anyone could tell it if they looked at him. “No…I’m with Sentry.” He looked off a moment, brooding on that fact for a moment. He finally returned his gaze to Korii’s face, struggling to cover up his shame. And it was his shame, to be cannon fodder, a common foot soldier in Sentry. He’d had brilliant dreams as a child, to become like the Great Sephiroth who could kill three opponents with a single sweep of his blade. But he wasn’t strong enough, he wasn’t fast enough, and in the end…he failed. Now he was here, living out a pointless and utterly stupid existence as a common soldier of Shinra. He was too embarrassed to return home, not desiring to face his parents with yet another failure upon his shoulders. They always called him useless, and now, he really was. But he stayed. He stayed because at the very least he could provide for his aging parents, and the money he made, while miniscule in Midgar, was a fortune to his parents in the town of Gongaga. Sniper realized slowly just how angry he was. His brown eyes hardened once more, and he decided he as going to do something totally reckless. But he didn’t care. He was tired of being seen as some pathetic retard that everyone had to look after. And this guy was going to help him prove he wasn’t. Even if to no one else, at least he would prove it to himself. “Hey, Mr. Soldier. What do you say we have a little duel? We’ll see who’s better…Sentry or SOLDIER. Or are you too scared?” He stated it simply, drawing his sniper rifle, flipping it expertly and with the ease of a master. This weapon had been his single companion at Shinra, and it was time that ‘Yoko’ got a workout. “Ready?” |

OOC: This is a beta thread, so I'll take the 100 Gil and let you win. This post shall end it. “No…I’m with Sentry.” The answer had been an uneasily given one. As if the words sliced into the boy as a knife would butter. Korii smirked at the boy, he was a SOLDIER wannabe. Sentry units existed only as pawns while SOLDIER units commanded them like slaves. Of course, Korii never saw himself as the arrogant asshole but he wanted to show his authority. That was until the boy spoke again. “Hey, Mr. Soldier. What do you say we have a little duel? We’ll see who’s better…Sentry or SOLDIER. Or are you too scared? Ready?” Korii smirked, "You can't harm me child. I'm twice the man you will be." He said, his words cold and with the turn of his head, his brown eyes flickered their emerald gaze caused by the imbalance of Mako flowing through him. He turned and started away, knowing that one day, they would meet again. And then...he would show the boy the power gap that separated them. |
