Let The Light Surround You

She walked through the field slowly, looking for any sign of Few-zuh. She didn't see anything. Oasis blinked a few times and tilted her head in confusion. Wasn't this where she just was? So where was Few-zuh? Then, she saw something new. Something was sticking up out of the ground off in the distance, threatening to pierce the sky. The girl stared in awe at what she was seeing, but she realized that it wasn't her home. A few seconds later, another thought occurred to her. Those hadn't been there before, so something must have happened to her home! Oasis let out a pained cry and charged toward the pointy things, running on all fours. There had to be something left of Few-zuh's house, of the place she felt safe, but those things were so far away that it would take her forever to reach them. She gradually slowed to a halt, panting quietly. Panic overwhelmed her. Frantic, she began looking for a place to hide. What if they found her again? Few-zuh wasn't around to keep her safe now. She was alone. She was afraid. "Few-zuh!" she yelled, hoping her voice would summon the man who had protected her. "Few-zuh! Where...you!" But the only thing she heard was silence. Defeated, the girl curled up in a ball and stared across the grass, tears welling up in her eyes. He had left her alone. Everything he had ever told her was a lie. "Oasis! Hang on! I'm coming for you! OASI--" The girl blinked a few times and picked herself up off the ground. Though she had nearly been asleep, she remembered him saying that. She thought she had seen him running toward her as the man from Shin-Ra took her away, but then there was a noise and he had fallen over. Then she woke up in the steel room and had gotten away from them again. But she couldn't remember where home was. "Few-zuh..." she whispered. "Where...you...go..." |

HA-HA!

If there was one thing Almira hated, it was boredom. She wasn’t the one to start anything based on mere impulses but she didn’t like doing nothing either. She was to find her late father’s airship, The Flightless, kick the thief in his ugly mug, and fly it, fulfilling Altair Tailwind’s legacy in the process. How would she able to succeed if all she did was lie flat on her back, dreaming about nothing but the birds and the bees? What are the birds and the bees anyways? Will they be of any use to her? She doubts it. “Gah! Of all places, of all times, why did this have to happen here and now? Why me?” Almira dragged her feet along, holding herself while her purple eyes stayed on the horizon. The setting sun was a magnificent sight for anyone to behold. For Almira, it reminded her of death. When the sun finally leaves the sky, bequeathing its throne to its queen, the moon, everything turns to darkness and slumber. The Planet seemed to be bathed in silence and with it having no qualms about the takeover. If it was Almira getting dominated by eerie nothingness, she’d pull out Swallow and fight for her freedom. Alas! She wasn’t the Planet. She wasn’t a queen. The death of her father, Altair, came to her as a nightmare. Over the years, she had learned to cope with it, begrudgingly of course. She was determined to avenge him, or at least take the airship back. It belonged to her father, after all. With his death, it should now belong to her. While she was furious and grievous of his passing away, she knew that she had to face facts and move on. It was either that or she turns into an old maid who did nothing but waste her life away. Her father wouldn’t want her to grow into such a pitiful soul. He’d want her to live life, the way that he’d always tell her to. Forgetting him was a different matter however and one that she wouldn’t, couldn’t do. He’d always be with her: in her heart, in her mind and in her soul. That’s the main reason why she was determined to take it back, to conquer it. In his name and in his legacy, she’ll find Flightless and make that ungrateful bastard pay. "Few-zuh!" Eh? Who in the name of Highwind is that? Quickly, Almira brandished her spear. She hoped she wouldn’t have to fight anyone but she wasn’t in the mood to just submit either. If it was a monster or some sadistic druggie, she’d hit her hard. Afterward, she’d run. But it was still an indefinite strategy. She still didn’t know what she was up against. When she comes face to face, neck to neck, with the evil that made that cry, she’ll probably have to change plans. Improvisation wasn’t her best suit but it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Just then, Almira came upon someone who looked like she was on dope. Of course, hearing her cry gibberish contributed a lot to the idea. The truth was, the stranger didn’t look less than someone who was enjoying the sunset. She had her back turned to the young girl anyway. How would she know if she was hostile or not? Oh yeah, the power of communication. “Hey… Are you all right?” |

Someone was approaching. The girl looked up from the ground, staring at the person who had decided to make their presence known. A large part of her wanted to run away, but she was still so broken about losing Few-zuh that she didn't even care. All she wanted to do was be back home with the man who had vowed to keep her safe. The tears streamed down her cheeks freely. She didn't know this other person, this girl, but she couldn't stop herself. Oasis sprang to her feet and flew at the girl, wrapping her arms around her waist and burying her face in her chest, letting out all of the anguish she had been feeling as one extremely loud and long sobbing fit. Occasionally a word would slip out, but it was so distorted by her crying that it was almost impossible to understand her. "Few-zuh...take...me...to...Few-zuh!" She was inconsolable. This poor girl she had attached herself to for the time being would have a hell of a time prying her away, at least until she calmed down enough to get a hold of herself, and there was no telling when that would happen. She was alone, she was far from home, and she was scared. Oasis was going to stay near this woman until someone new came along. |

Almira stood before the other girl, her hands on her waist. She found herself thinking, observing the stranger and basking in the mystery that surrounded this person. When she finally got closer, she realized she wasn’t just enjoying the sunset. In fact, it was far from what she initially thought. This person was crying her heart out. In a flurry of emotions, the girl threw herself at Almira without any hesitation. The Tailwind was caught surprised. She caught the other with her hands on the former’s back through instinct. She hid her head on the nineteen year old’s bosom, her arm around her waist. Almira found her heart racing, her thoughts exploding. She didn’t really know what to do. This person just jumped at her, looking for comfort and protection. If she wasn’t crying, or if she was a guy, Almira would probably push her away, frightened at the sudden invasion of personal space. "Few-zuh...take...me...to...Few-zuh!" The stranger continued to sob, her tears soaking Almira’s chest. The latter could feel the warmth of those tears, succumbing to the ephemeral connection until she finally found it a little uncomfortable. She tried to pull her away, clutching her arms with moderate force. The girl wouldn’t budge. She had held her tightly and it seemed that Almira needed to kill her to have her let go. If only she was that cold-hearted. “Eh? Fyuzah? Err… Calm down a little… you.” She tried consoling this person, trying to somehow bridge a more stable connection. “I’d love to help you but first tell me your name and how I can help.” The stranger continued to cry, drowning Almira’s top in tears. It was then that the latter realized the sea of green that was this young girl’s hair. She had never seen someone sport such color and it amazed her. The darkness of the color made her feel a little strange. Looking at it had her silent, like she was seeing a pitiful emptiness. It drove her determined to help. “Your crying won’t help you much.” Almira held the girl’s neck, forcing her face up and having both pair of eyes meet. “My name’s Almira… What’s yours?” Almira gave her a comforting smile, wanting to establish a trusting friendship. It was always good to meet new friends. |

The woman had pulled her face up, forcing Oasis to stare to look her in the eye. The crying girl did her best to calm down, and she succeeded, somewhat. She was still extremely upset, but she was gradually returning to what was normal for her. This person she had sought solace in gave off a kind aura, very similar to the one Few-zuh had. That fact alone was enough to make her smile. This woman had a name. All-mer-rah...it was a tough word, like Few-zuh, but she could still say it. "All-mer-rah..." she said slowly, testing the word out. "Weird...word..." A few moments later, she realized that she had been asked for her name. It was then that she realized that she had never actually said the name that Few-zuh had given her, so she really had no idea how to say it, but she had heard her savior say it enough to have a vague idea of how it sounded when spoken. "My...name...Oh-ay-ses..." she said. That didn't sound right, but she had tried her best. That was good enough for her. "All-mer-rah...where...I? Where...home?" To emphasize her question, she looked around the area slowly, trying to figure out where that big black place had gone. "I...want...go...home..." she said quietly. That thought almost sent her spiraling back into the depression that she had been in when All-meh-rah showed up, but the woman's aura kept her calm. Expectantly, she looked up at the taller woman, waiting for her answer. She would take her back to Few-zuh. |

“Err… Okay,” Almira winced at the girl who seemed a little disturbing at the moment. “Oasis, eh? Well, at least we’re making some progress…” This person had speech disturbance, at least that’s what Almira thought. She kept on talking like she wasn’t used to the act. Maybe it was some disorder. Almira had no idea, she wasn’t a doctor. She didn’t even care if this Oasis had problems with speech. She had nothing against any disability. No one is perfect after all. It all just seemed a little distracting. Gauging Oasis’ appearance, Almira suspected that their ages were near each other. She wasn’t a psychic to know how old she was exactly but she surmised she was between 16-19. Almira was pretty bad with numbers. Fortunately for the meddling nineteen year old, Oasis responded positively to her smile. Her tears started to stop flowing and in its place was a comforting radiance that made Almira feel all cozy inside. It wasn’t long, however, for the girl to revert to her depressed state. Almira saw her facial expression make a left turn, prompting the former to instinctively whine in despair, but before Almira could fully sigh, Oasis stopped herself and maintained composure. She looked back up at Almira who was caught surprised. The Tailwind heir smiled again and held Oasis by her arms, still keeping her eyes locked with the other’s. “Now, how about you tell me where you live so I can take you there?” She had nothing to bank on. No airship, no motorcycle, not one transport available. Hopefully, this Oasis was from Rocket Town. But as Almira had been a patron of the small village, she believed Oasis didn’t look like anyone from that place. Almira sighed, thinking about the worst case scenario: Oasis could be from another continent. |

Oasis tilted her head and looked down at her feet at the same time, making her look a little awkward and confused. Few-zuh had told her where they lived once, but now that information wasn't coming to her readily. Disappointed, she looked back up at All-meh-rah, a faint frown on her face. "I...forgot..." she said quietly, hoping that the woman wouldn't get angry with her for not being able to recall something so important. But she wouldn't be defeated so easily. The girl broke away from All-meh-rah and looked around the area quickly, finally spotting what she was looking for - a small patch of land where there was no grass. Charging on all fours, Oasis moved like a shot to her destination, sliding to a halt once she reached it. The girl knelt down and jabbed her finger into the soil, drawing two large circles, one surrounding the other. That was where she lived. She just hoped that All-meh-rah understood what she was trying to say. "Here! I...live here!" she said, pointing at what she had drawn. "It...big and...uh...gray!" That was pretty much true - she had seen it from the outside. It was basically a big gray circle surrounded by a barren plain. The smaller circle in her picture represented her home, and the second one was supposed to be the ugly area just outside it. If she was clear enough with that picture, maybe she could get home to Few-zuh soon. |

When Oasis said she had forgotten where she lived, Almira proved herself right. This girl was having a bad day. It was either because of a short term memory loss or maybe she was just completely out of her mind. Psychological disability or not, Oasis needed help. Even though they weren’t related or there was nothing financially for Almira if she did help her, it wouldn’t be ethical to just leave her alone. Besides, the way Oasis was crying, she’d be an easy target for the unmentionables in this part of town. Oasis soon broke free from Almira, rushing towards something that seemed so obsolete. The Brave Bird shook her head in complete disbelief. She didn’t think it was of any worth. They were just wasting their time. If Oasis could just remember her complete address, they’d be off to a better start. Sadly, this wasn’t some fairytale. What now… Almira rushed to where Oasis was, realizing now that the latter was trying to draw her a map. Unfortunately, it looked nothing like a map. It was more like an orange or the Planet, round with a mantle, or so she believed. Heaving a heavy sigh, Almira stood back up and held her hand out. “I have no idea what you drew there. Come on up, can’t you even remember any street? Any shop?” This is hopeless… Maybe she has something in her pockets?! “Say, Oasis, do you have any identification or something? ID? Wallet? A picture of someone you know?" |

It looked like All-meh-rah didn't get what she was trying to tell her. Oasis was disappointed, but she was all out of ideas. She couldn't think of another way to describe where she lived. Downtrodden, the girl moved back to the woman and sat down at her feet, staring off into the distance. Would she ever get back home again? Would she ever find Few-zuh? All-meh-rah was talking to her again. Oasis blinked and leaned back, staring up at the other woman. "Eh...? What's...eye-dee?" she said, tilting her head in confusion. She'd never heard of anything like that before, not even when she'd been with Few-zuh. "Uh...don't...know..." she finally said, smiling that innocent smile of hers. "Sorry..." Oasis suddenly got to her feet and moved in close to All-meh-rah, examining her intently. She wasn't sure why, but the other woman looked very different to her. She was...rounder. The green-haired girl locked her attention on the two large lumps sitting on All-meh-rah's chest, poking at one of them with her finger. "You...rounder than...me..." Of course, she was totally pure in her intentions and it was more curiosity that drove her actions than anything else. "Dunno...why..." |

This was absolutely going nowhere. That was what Almira started to believe. Oasis didn’t have anything on her. No identification papers, no photos of anyone she knew, no memory of any distinct street names or shops. The fact was, Oasis didn’t seem to have anything that could prove she even existed. Almira began to wonder how this one arrived in Rocket Town. Maybe that was another good start. Maybe if she asked Oasis how she got here, then they’d both know how to get her home. Suddenly, Almira felt something poking her right breast. When she came to her consciousness, she saw Oasis continually prodding that part of her body. Oasis looked like she was determined to burst it or something. Almira felt defiled. No one has ever touched her like that. “Eh?!” She began to scream. “What are you doing there?!” Instinctively, she slapped Oasis’ hand off of her. Almira crossed both her arms in front of her chest, hugging herself tightly. She fell back on her rear, sitting on the grass blades that gave way to her weight. She looked confused at Oasis. Her eyebrows kissed each other, her eyes wider than before. Is this girl a lesbian or something?! |

Oasis blinked at All-meh-rah's reaction to being touched like that. The girl looked away from the other woman, sure that she had committed some kind of unforgivable offense. "I...sorry..." she said quietly, biting at her bottom lip. "I...just...never see someone...like me before..." That was pretty much true. She had never seen another female that looked like her. Sure, she had met Few-zuh's mom, but she was old and didn't look like she did. All-meh-rah, on the other hand, was very similar to how she looked, and she was curious about certain things about her. A few moments of awkward silence later, the green-haired girl looked back up at the other female, an apologetic look in her eyes. "...You...mad at me...?" She had become timid. She couldn't stand having anyone be mad at her, especially not someone as kind as All-meh-rah. The other woman had been nothing but kind to her, and she couldn't have her angry. "Please..don't be...mad..." The sound of motion grabbed her attention. Instinctively, Oasis spun herself around, crouching down on all fours and scanning the area intently. There was something out there. "...Something's coming..." she said, the bubbly nature of her voice replaced with a cold, emotionless speech pattern. In the distance, the girl spotted a small pink creature that was moving toward them at a fairly high rate of speed. "...Almira...can you fight..." It seemed like Oasis had become an entirely different person. The happy girl that Almira had come across had been replaced with someone deadly serious about what was about to happen. "If you can't fight...stay behind me...this thing...won't be tough..." [OOC: Approaching creature is an Axolotl. Any problem with that?] |

[OOC: No problemo. We can handle it... Right? XD] Almira just stared at Oasis for a few minutes, still shocked about being violated for the first time. The green haired teen looked genuinely sorry as she made it seem. Oasis apologized to the other with that strange speech impediment of hers, reminiscent of how a toddler would in the face of disappointment. Almira couldn’t say anything. Instead, she swallowed air and tried to regain composure. Slowly standing back up, she shook her head to what Oasis was saying. “No… It’s… Uhh… It’s alright…” She began. “I’m sorry for acting so---” The purple haired girl was cut off by her companion’s sudden pivot. On her fours, Oasis began mumbling something about fighting. Almira found it odd but she should have known better. With this weird girl around, nothing was supposed to be the same. Almira noticed something different about her. As Oasis looked like she was sensing something strange around, she took on a different personality, quite obvious through her more mature tone. She reminded Almira of a dog when it notices something awry nearby. “Fight? I can, I guess… What is---” This time, Almira stop short of words when she saw something dashing towards them. It was pink in color, some sort of creature whose name Almira should have known but can’t remember. Brandishing Swallow about, Almira stood her ground and a determined look chased her awkward fright away. She didn’t know how Oasis was able to notice such a creature before her, seeing that she was a foreigner and Almira was a native of these parts, but the warning was well appreciated. “We’re doing this?” Almira narrowed her eyes, gripping her spear as tight as she could. This was going to be her first monster fight and she was ecstatic. Hopefully, Oasis won’t go all psycho on her. The idea was plausible, considering her current display of mental stability. Don’t let me get caught between rocks... Edited by T@Z, Apr 29 2009, 12:50 AM.

[OOC: Yeah, weak monster, no big deal. Mostly an excuse for plot to occur.] "Yes...I'll keep...you safe..." she said quietly, tightening up her fists. Oasis was going to defeat that thing and protect Almira. The woman behind her was someone she considered important. She wouldn't let any harm come to her no matter what. After glancing over at her to make sure she was prepared for what might occur, the green haired girl locked her eyes on the approaching beast, waiting for the perfect opportunity. The creature was coming closer and closer. Oasis waited until it was practically on top of her before reacting. She moved, unleashing all of her heightened reflexes in one powerful lunge. She slammed a fist directly into the creature's face, stunning it for a moment. That was all she really needed. Spinning to the side, the girl placed her foot underneath the pink animals body and kicked it up into the air. A moment later, she was in the air herself, her body turned upside down. She was staring at Almira, her face totally emotionless. "Almira...move!" That statement was punctuated with a powerful kick delivered by flipping herself over and launching the beast directly at the woman with the spear. She didn't really care if the other woman did anything, since the creature would likely be dead after that, but a little help couldn't hurt. |

Almira was caught surprised when Oasis suddenly attacked the monster. She didn’t think that her new found friend was of anything of worth, especially not in battle. The assumption was probably made because of all that gibberish coming from the latter’s mouth, the lack of self-confidence and the dreary amnesia when it came to her past. As Oasis began to show her amazing physical feats, Almira found herself a little confused and envious at her. She seemed more adept at fighting than the former, more determined and less afraid of the repercussions that would have arose if they had faced a stronger monster. Nevertheless, Almira felt relieved and confident at both of their capabilities. This monster was going down. After propelling the monster high up in the air, Oasis motioned for Almira to get a decent hit in. The former launched the seemingly lifeless body towards the latter, Almira resonating her confidence through Swallow. Clutching the weapon tightly and putting on an indomitable face, Almira jumped towards the monster. She quickly spun herself, Swallow held with both her hands at the farthest they could, before thrusting the iron weapon against the bulk of the Axolotl’s body. She had thrust herself a few inches higher than the monster and now, they were both plummeting towards the ground. “Yee-haw!” As the dust started to settled, Almira found herself standing, panting, atop the monster’s fallen frame, the spear stuck in its abdomen. Pulling Swallow out, heaving a sigh of relief, she marveled at how easy her first fight was, not putting to mind that Oasis did most of the work. The nineteen year old Brave Bird then fell on her behind, fatigued as it would seem. She was more frightened than tired but whatever worked. Swallow glistened crimson against the afternoon sun. Oasis didn't see Almira deliver her strike as she had her back to the other girl after performing her little backflip. However, she was satisfied when the turned to see the creature not moving. "Good..." she said, cracking her neck a few times. "You all right...? Didn't hurt you, did it...?" She was speaking much more clearly now, and her eyes had taken on a very serious look, but she was still the same girl she had been. "I'm sorry, Almira..." she began a few moments later. "You've been...very nice...but I can't remember where I came from...Fuse told me once, but..." She trailed off after that, staring at the creature she had felled for a moment before locking her eyes back on the other girl. "I'm...not well...and I'm afraid to be alone...but you remind me of Fuse...you feel like he does...if I could...I'd like to stay with you...for a while..." It was getting harder and harder for her to maintain that level of speaking. Now that the adrenaline from being attacked out of the blue had worn off, Oasis was gradually regressing back to how she had been when she had first met Almira. However, in the few moments of competency she had left, she glanced to the picture she had drawn on the ground. "It's...black...a black and green place...s...scary from...out...side...but...Fuse lives...there..." The light returned to her eyes, and her expression softened considerably. Oasis looked up at All-meh-rah and smiled her innocent smile. "You...very nice...All-meh-rah...you...take me to...Few-zuh...? Please...?" |
