<Translated from Moogle> A bar on the upper plate, where a lot of the locals and Shinra go to relax. Inside a group of men were having a party, congradulating each other for a work well done. They were positioned around a man in the middle, who was obviously the boss and the one buying the drinks. He was telling them how he pulled off the latest caper, heading into Sector 7 to steal some blueprints for Shinra. He began speaking about the stuffed doll he beat up, when the entire bar became silent. The door exploded inwards from the outside, and out of the smoke a small white figure flew in. In one hand it held a strange tri-barreled hand gun, and in the other a strange piece of jewelry. His eyes were so cold and unfeeling that even the toughest men in the bar began to feel uneasy. The man that was surrounded seemed to look nervously at the creature. It landed on the closest empty table to the door, putting the jewelry in his backpack and pulling out a green stone. A few Shinra SOLDIER got up from their beers and began to walk over to the figure, while the man seemed to relax at this sight. He began to boast again, even louder now that the creature showed up. "Ya, I stole the blueprints and kicked around a stuffed animal that looked like this little thing. She cried and begged. It was beautiful." By this time the four SOLDIER were around the creature, ready to kick it outside. The white creature didn't even seem concerned, as it took out one of the gems in the gun and replaced it with the one he had in his hand. He aimed at the first SOLDIER and pulled the trigger. The resulting bullet split into several white balls of light, each speeding off in several directions and hitting all the patrons and the bartender. Instantly all fell into a deep sleep, except for the creature and the man. The man stood up in alarm, looking at the figure with a slight fear in his eyes. He quickly turned the fear back into a cocky look, acting unimpressed with the display. "Nice toy you have there." The creature jumped down from the table onto the floor, folding his dark bat like wings onto his back. He slowly began to walk towards the man, who was obviously trying to keep his cool. "Did you take those blueprints from Sector 7 kupo, and kill the Moogle that was staying there kupo?" The man looked down at the creature, the cocky smile coming back to his lips. "So you are called Moogle. I was wondering why it kept saying 'kupo' when I hit it." The creature just simply pulled out the stone he put into the weapon, replacing it with the one he took out earlier. The creature looked up at the man, obviously not afraid of the height. "I bet you got a lot of money for those blueprints." The grin on the man became bigger, giving a nod. Maybe this creature had a job for him. "Ya, Shinra paid a fortune for it." The creature just shook his head, the gun emitting a strange light. "I hope you gave it to your girlfriend or your wife." The man looked down at the creature with a questioning look. His eyes trailed to the gun in the creature's hand, and a look of shock and horror came to his face. Caster Gun v.5 The man turned to leave, not even caring who the creature was. The man already had a good idea. "Because you won't be using it." The creature pointed the gun at the man and fired. Using the 'Sleep Bullet' function was a waste, as the entire bar blew up in a powerful explosion of fire, ice, and lightning. Shinra is the next target. **** Stilz woke up with a start, sitting up quickly from his hammock. His face was sweating, and his hair was unusually white. He sat there staring at the wall blankly, trying to understand the dream. But as most dreams fade with time, so did this one until he completely forgot it. He shook his head, trying to clear the sleep from his eyes. What an odd dream. He jumped from his hammock to the floor with as much sound as a cat, then looked down the hallway to the kitchen. He might have some time to work on some of his projects before his 'roommate' came to get him. He hovered over to the door, and very softly slipped inside. A Moogle with slightly pink fur was cooking in the kitchen, making a traditional human breakfast. Eggs, toast, bacon, and orange juice to wash it down with. She wished she could make a traditional Moogle breakfast, but Stilz prefered this and the ingredients were easier to get in Midgar. She quickly finished up, putting the food on two plates and cleaned up. She quickly acclimated to life in Midgar, and knew pretty much the best way to do things by now. She turned and headed for the workshop. Candy came to Midgar about 4 months ago, wanting to know a little more about humans and their habits. She'd seen a few smaller human towns, but those didn't seem to care much for Moogles. It was from Kalm that she learned about Midgar being the biggest city on the continent, so she was sure there would be someone there to help her. Getting in was easy, and she found herself wandering through the streets trying to find something good. She found her way down to the lower part, not sure how she even got there. She became very frightened, so when a few humans mentioned she looked like a stuffed animal she pretended to be one. It was then that Stilz came to her rescue, and got her out of there before things really got worse. She'd been living with him ever since, helping keep the house and Stilz clean. She headed past the 'bedroom', not even glancing up at the hammock. It was very rare that Stilz would still be sleeping, since he spends about 90% of his time in the workshop. She put her hand on the door before opening it, feeling to see if an explosion was happening or already happened. Satisfied, Candy reached for the nob. And fell over backwards as a harpoon suddenly appeared coming out of the wall near her. She sat there completely stunned, looking at the death object that came out a few inches from where she was. That fear quickly turned to rage, and she got up and threw open the door in anger. She stormed into the workshop, her pink fur now giving a distinct red look. Stilz was busy behind a large gun that obviously fired the spear, trying to fix a problem with the auto-aiming device. Shinra was asking for a specialized harpoon for hunting the Midgar Zolom, and Stilz came up with the brilliant idea of using an Aero Materia as the firing source. Course the user had to be able to use magic, but Stilz figured anyone in Shinra could do that. He didn't even realized what happened until after the door was thrown open. Stilz looked up from his work, then completely froze in his tracks. He didn't even get a word in before a Moogle sized fist came barreling at him. The fist connected, sending Stilz flying head over heels into the wall behind him. Candy stood there with her arm extended, then walked over and began to drag Stilz to the kitchen. This had almost become a routine.... Stilz slowly ate his food in silence, as Candy seemed to eat in big bites. Stilz could tell she was slowly calming down because her fur was returning to normal, but he didn't say anything. The best time to talk was after Candy's fur returned to normal. It was about half way through the meal before that occured, and Candy was the first to speak. <"Sorry about that, but you almost hurt me with that thing."> Stilz gave a nod, still eating slowly. <"I know, I'm sorry. The auto aiming is still off. I'm trying to figure out how to keep the machine stable even using the power of Aeroaga."> Candy just shook her head, going back to a normal eating pattern. <"I don't even know why, the auto-aiming is not an option even when you use Aero. I keeps throwing off the computer."> Stilz gave a nod, looking down at his plate. Shinra was the one wanting to use the auto-aiming system, they wanted something they could fire and forget. But with wind magic as the power source, that won't be possible. Candy finished her food and looked at Stilz with a worried look. <"How are your parents taking it?"> Stilz looked down at his food, not really having much of an appetite after that question. His parents loved him and the work he did, they just didn't really like it when he took on jobs from Shinra. He couldn't blame them, Shinra was accused of a lot of misdeeds to the planet and the birth of the infamous Sephiroth. But Stilz was the cheapest Shinra could find for their less violent projects, and also the best. Plus the pay wasn't so bad, especially when Stilz was allowed to 'customize' the potentially dangerous porjects. <"They're better, once I told them about the life chip I install. I have it on the Aero Cannon, in case Shinra wants to use it on something other than the Zolom."> Candy seemed satisfied with this answer, and began to clean up while Stilz finished. The 'life chip' was a specialized chip that Stilz created specifically for the Shinra items. It is pretty crudely made, but it's the core of all his devices. With the life chip, the machine would either shut down or blow up if used on someone with a particular life force; like a human or a Moogle. Stilz didn't know if Shinra figured it out or not, but just installing it made Stilz feel a little better about the pay. Stilz quickly finished his food, then headed back into the workshop. A Shinra employee was coming to pick up a project he already worked on to track the sewer rats in Midgar, which was done a week ago. But Stilz wanted to make a few 'adjustment' in order to earn what he was getting paid for. Shinra wanted something that located the rats specifically, as well as the highest concentration and how big they were. Stilz had to wander the sewers for days just to find how big the rats tend to get, and it almost cost him his life. Shinra forgot to mention that most of the rats tend to become monsters after a time. Maybe if they cut down on the Mako use they'd have less monsters. But Stilz kept his comments to himself as he worked, resigning himself to working quickly and efficiently. He picked up the device and examined it. The rat detector was one of the few devices he made that didn't use Materia. When he first was making the design, a Libra Materia was going to be part of the core to detect how strong the rats were. But Shinra wanted something simple, their argument was 'how strong can rats be?'. But Stilz knew if they did the amount of research he did, they might be wanting the Materia core. Stilz let out a sigh as he made a few tweaks, looking at it for a moment before putting on the finishing touches. The prototype was all ready to be mass produced by Shinra. Most of his devices were mass produced by Shinra, well most of the non-violent ones. He made sure that even the potentially violent ones only he could make, though sometimes Stilz guessed that Shinra has begun to reverse engineer some of his devices. Stilz finished it up and put it back together in time. He took out his Caster Gun v.1, looked it over carefully to make sure it was in working order. He didn't have time to buy bullets for it, he's had to rely on using the caster function for his fights. But after he makes the exchange he'll use some of the money to buy bullets, course he has no idea if the gun even fires normal bullets. Never really tested it out in the trial runs, mostly working on getting the magic bullets to work. But he put the gun in the custom holster and headed for the exchange point. Shinra mostly kept their word, it's the other lowlifes that can smell money a mile away.... Stilz made it to the exchange point at the same time his contact did. A tall man in a trench coat walked into the spot, keeping his face concealed from the various eyes. But Stilz recognized the insignia of the Shinra Research department sewn onto the glove the stranger wore. It was a sign that he was working for Shinra, and Stilz recognized some of the features. Stilz just wandered in normally, not paying any attention to the onlookers. Most of the realized that the Moogle wasn't a pushover, and many of them had the scars to prove it. That, and Stilz's gun didn't leave a trace except some magic. No bullets or powder marks, so he can't be arrested for illegal weapons. Besides, he made the weapon so no laws have been passed yet. He walked up to the trench coat man and waited for a response. "The Life Stream flows east today." "And tomorrow it will flow west." Stilz handed over the device, and the stranger handed over an envelope. Stilz quickly tucked it into his pocket, though it was more like cramming. The man gave him a nod, then headed back the way he came. Stilz just shook his head, then headed for the ammo store above the plate. Two boxes should be enough for now.... |
