Cloud Said I'm "Super Cool."
|
Why did it have to be August? This time of year always brought a hidden sadness, that weighed down the heart and even the fabric of Robert's soul. There were no clouds in the sky to match his dark feelings, just another sunny day. Just like the one that dreaded the dreams he so often had. His head was facing towards the cracked blacktop he found himself walking on. Not a thought crossed his mind, and despite his sadness he knew he had things to take care of. A faint sound of music, and the rumbling vibration from his phone broke him out of his trance. “Gonna have to bury us in the same casket, cause bro we gonna die togetha.” It was the person he was the closest with, known to most as Swifty. He touched the answer button on the lit up screen of his phone, and raised it to his ear. “Whats poppin brody?” He asked his voice stern leaving no trace of his hidden pain. The voice on the other line retorted back, “Bout to go hit up this mamma n get what I need, nah I'm sayin?” He said with a laugh before continuing. “So whats good with the day fam? You plan on seein the Boss soon? I've already givin you my paper, just waitin on you to get back on the strip. Got them fiends blowin up the inbox.” Again he let off another laugh. Robert looked up into the blue sky, despising its beauty. “Tha's where I was headed. Just gotta make a few stops n get off what I got left. I'll give you a holla brah.” The person on the other side acknowledged, and replied “Well, I'm rollin up on that mama's house right now. Get at me when you're ready. One love.” Robert smiled, if there was anyone he could trust with his life it was that kid right there. “One love.” He replied before hangin up the phone, and placin it back into his pocket. As he walked down the road, all that was insight were the beat down scummy buildings he knew all of his life, the slums how ugly of a place. He took a right down an alleyway, half way down it was a group of people. They were all dressed in baggy clothing, fitted caps, hoodies, and a couple were sportin chains that made them feel like they were more fortunate then they were. Robert himself was dressed in black baggy pants, saggin off his ass with his red and black checkered boxers in clear view. A wife beater covered by a black hoodie with white money sign designs was what he wore on his back. His hair and part of his face was hidin by the hood he had up. The prime item of his possession, was tucked in the front of his pants, the handle facing up so he could withdraw it like a flash in the case of if he needed to defend his well being. This group was step one in his current list of spots to stop at. He walked up casually, staring at each and every one of them just as much as the last. “Whats goodie?” He asked. The one that had originally contacted him in the morning spoke up. “Not shit son, just anotha one of dem days. You brought that eighter right?” The man had always been a loyal customer, he was one to call multiple times daily either for himself or for people he knew. Robert didn't reply, he didn't trust most of the people he worked with. He'd die in the hail of gunfire before being locked up, its just how his mind-state was. He withdrew a bag from his pocket, he kept it folded and hidden within his slightly extended hand. The man did the same with the money for the product, and when there hands connected in the handshake known as daps the transaction was made. “Take it easy Stack.” he said, “You too dub.” Robert replied. His voice seemed a bit spaced out, he had again turned back to his thoughts. As he left the ally, he headed back down another black topped street. The sidewalks were crowded with the poor folk that had to walk from point a to point b, always stuck on that leather express; not by choice of course. He had one more stop to make before he headed off to see his mans about the re-up. He turned down a side street, a slummy house a block down was his destination at the time. It was the girl he was intimately involved with, they had met years back and have been on and off since then. It was a love hate relationship, but it was the only love he knew. She was sitting upon the stoop as he walked up. She was a sign of beauty in this nasty place. Her long silky black hair reaching the mid of her back. A face chiseled by angels, or at least he thought. Those gorgeous brown eyes, that he lost himself in every time. She had a physique that couldn't be match, she was skinny yet well proportioned where it mattered. “Hey baby.” She said with a smile and sweet voice, seemingly happy to see him. “Hey boo.” He said with a smile, sitting down next to her. He put his arm around her back, and drew her into an intimate kiss. “How're you love?” He asked her, causing her face to light up with a smile. “Im pretty good, how are you today?” She replied. “I've had better days. I won't be as down once this god forsaken month is over.” He said with a sigh. She was the only one he would ever confide his feelings in. Because, as odd as it was she seemed to understand him. That's what he loved about her. “Your going to be alright baby, you know Im here for you if you ever need anything. I'm always here for you to talk to. I love you.” Just saying that brought his spirits back up a bit. He stared her deep in the eyes, “I love you too Stephanie.” Her full name was Stephanie Golder. She was better than gold to him. From his pocket he withdrew another bag, he set this one in her lap. “I just wanna make sure your taken care of while I go off into the city and meet up with my dude. He's expecting me soon. It should last you until I get back tonight.” He said calmly. She examined the golden red nuggets within the bag. “This is some of that good shit you get as your head stash aint it?” She said jokingly with a smile on her face. “Only the best for you baby.” He said laughing, before leaning over and giving her another intimate kiss. “I love you. See you tonight.” She pocketed the gift and replied, “I better see you, punk.” With a laugh she continued, “I love you Robert Miller. I always will.” A smile lit his face, as he turned from her and walked back down along his way. Back down the shitty streets of this shit hole, he thought. From his pocket he withdrew his pack of cigarettes and his lighter, withdrew one and placed it in his mouth before putting the fire up to it and taking that fresh inhale of menthol. He exhaled with satisfaction, smoke pushing its way from his lungs out into the clear day's air. Now that his business here had been taken care of for now, he made his way towards the city. Taking the main street of the slums. Few shops aligned the street, nothing with much value but enough to support its citizens. He spotted a shop, and it reminded him that he should stop and pick up a cigar and get himself lifted before movin on with the day. It would take the rest of what he had on him to scroll up anyway, so even if he was interrogated because of smoking it along his walk it wouldn't make a difference. He entered the shop door, a bell upon the door rang as he made his entrance. A older black male was behind the counter, he stared at Robert who was examining what was in the selection. “Let me get a strawberry flavored cigar. The freshest you have would be nice.” He said, withdrawing his proof of ID and placing it upon the counter. The cashier looked it over, and grabbed for a wrapped cigar and placed it upon the counter. “Thats 5 gil.” He said sternly, Robert took it from within his pocket and placed it on the counter, before grabbing the cigar and walking back out. The annoying bell went off again on his way out. As he exited the door he took off the wrapper and dropped it on the ground. As he walked he used his fingernails to crack a straight line down the paper of the cigar, and dumped the guts out onto the ground. He took a quick detour down into an ally to take a seat upon a stoop for a few moments. In this time, he took out his last bag of greenery and placed it within the paper which was now moist with his saliva. He broke the nuggets into fine pieces with ease, and placed it in one side with more of the buds on one side, and less on the other. It was the cone technique he was taught at a young age. With the rolling of his two thumbs and index fingers, he got the paper to wrap around, and he licked the edges down onto the other side. What he had produced was a cannon of proportion in his perfection of the blunt. He left accomplished of his work, as he always did after a successful rolling. Before leaving the stoop, he took the flame of his lighter and held it up to the larger end of the cigar and took a few deep puffs to maintain a cherry before placing his lighter back in his pocket and standing and heading back on his way. He could feel the thick smoke fill his lungs, it was enjoyable. One of the best feelings he could maintain on a daily basis. A cloud escaped his mouth as he exhaled. The smell of the beautiful ganja filled the air. He again took a couple deep inhales along his walk to midgar, the feeling making him complete. As if oblivious to the troubles that tormented him inside. Edited by ImortalFighter, Jul 16 2009, 05:22 PM.
