Getting too old for this shit.
|
Johnny casually strolled down a random street somewhere beneath the plate of Midgar. Whether it was night or day he neither knew nor cared for he could never see the sky from the wretched pits that were the city slums. Roadside lights provided just enough illumination for him to make his way to whatever destination he happened upon that suited his needs. His face made it clear that he was irritated. While it was something he usually felt he actually had a direct target upon which to place blame for his current frustrations. Daniel, a shapeless energy entity no larger than a softball, remained concealed in a black backpack currently shouldered by the creature’s permanent human companion. It clearly felt Johnny’s anger toward it coming after it in successive waves, each seeming more hurtful than the last. The reason behind his anger was that Johnny had no desire to step out in public for some time. He wanted to continue to remain in hiding where he planned on continuing to train both himself and Daniel in preparation to change the world on a massive scale. Instead, Daniel compelled him with its own deep desires to stray from the many empty structures throughout the city that offered him much-wanted seclusion. The world outside was something Daniel wanted to explore and experience. Due to a massive conflict of interests a compromise had been reached between Daniel and Johnny. Johnny agreed to spend some time trying to socialize and have a general good time as long as Daniel remained hidden and dedicated most of its time to training. Daniel felt it was receiving the short end of the deal but its influence over Johnny was limited and nothing compared to the influence the teenager had over it. |

You can't kill the Metal
|
On the average day, Kitsune didn't do much, as she wasn't that familiar to the world that was around her. Due to the way she was raised, Kitsune wasn't taught how to interact with people, or how to pretty much anything besides speak and eat. It was only after she escaped from Shin-Ra in which she really learned anything, and they were lessons hard learned as well. She was lucky that she had the powers that were forcibly thrust upon her, or else she would have died. Though, she didn't really think of it like that. Kitsune figured that if she hadn't had been given those powers she wouldn't be where she was today, but living a normal life in which she couldn't do any of the mysterious stuff she could do today. There wasn't really much she could do about it though, it was the hand that was dealt to her and she was going to have to live with it. As of late, however, Kitsune was delving from the norm and actually doing something that was beneficial to her life. It turned she was right, if she played her guitar in the streets of wealthier parts of the city, people sometimes gave her money, which she could then save to buy food and shelter and the such. There wasn't much else that Kitsune used with the money besides those things, she was more of a person that bought things that she needed rather than wanted. She still knew though that to gather money was generally a good thing in this world. Kitsune had just gotten back from her daily session of playing for those that wanted to listen, and was currently sitting on some random street practicing some music. The music she was playing was of the faster variety, and used more intricate notes rather than just some cords. She was playing this music on her crystal guitar dubbed Akumetsu by her, a simple acoustic like guitar. Dressed in her normal attire that was way out of the norm, she didn't mind how the occasional passerby looked at her in a weird way. She was more interested on how they reacted to her music. "Ah, this song will be a lot better than that last one," Kitsune said, after finishing her sonnet, "A lot more money this way, but if only I can get it right." The song was pretty good to her ears, but there was still something off. While she couldn't tell you the musical terms for what was missing, she would eventually get it by trial and error, and that was what she would be doing for a while. |

Can we please find out who's playing that music? Daniel asked Johnny with its genderless and somewhat tinny telepathic voice. The notes that resounded from the crystal instrument currently being played had recently reached Johnny's ears. While Daniel had no ears of its own, it too had a sense of hearing but the music could not penetrate the backpack to which it had been confined from this distance. Daniel presently relied on Johnny to experience such pleasures for the both of them even if the human failed to enjoy them. Even to Johnny the notes sounded faint from his current position, but he was able to locate the source through the dim glow of the pathetically powered ghetto lights. "If it'll make you happy," Johnny grumbled irritably under his breath only a moment after the message had reached Daniel through thought. Daniel knew all about music, among other forms of art, from the memories it had copied from Johnny's mind. However, the only time it had heard any music itself was always from a distance and either at night while Johnny slept or during the day while it trained with him. It had never actually had a chance to enjoy any. Despite its inexperience in the world and having only painful memories to use as a reference for the world around it, Daniel appreciated the beauty of art unlike the human whose wasted opportunities for happiness ranked as a horrible tragedy from the entity's perspective. Johnny approached the street-side performer and thoughtfully rehearsed in his mind a polite and warm greeting. He wanted to avoid ruining the moment for Daniel. He was worried that unless he kept things civil, Daniel might not be in a cooperative mood for additional training any time soon. He placed himself a few feet in front of the musician and discovered the guitarist was female. Her gender meant nothing to him, however. He merely stood there in silence and feigned interest while Daniel enjoyed the guitarist's rehearsal even if it was not one of the greatest pieces ever composed. |

After she had been practicing for a little bit longer, it would seem that she would gain an audience for her music. It was always a good thing to get someone to listen to your music, especially if it wasn't a completed work yet. That did raise the question on why he was listening to this song still, but there are many reasons why a human may do something, and Kitsune wasn't going to think to much into it. If she did keep on thinking about it, she would figure that he was there to attack her or something, and that wasn't a road she didn't want to go. But rather, she wanted to make friends with the people in Midgar, or at least, some of them. She knew that the more people she knew, the more she could get done in this city instead of just by her own. So, to accomplish this cause, Kitsune would change the song she was playing, to one she had already mastered. The Song that she was playing now was called the Song of Zalmen, and it was an attack that she developed to defend herself. If she had been putting the right amount of power into this song, then it would have caused anyone to hear it to go crazy. Though, since she didn't want that to happen at the moment, she was just playing the very fast paced electric guitar song, which was weird seeing how it came out of an acoustic looking guitar. The guitar that she had could really do both, so she wasn't limited to just the one style of playing. But that was off the point, Kitsune was wondering how this person would react to this new style of playing. Also, if he was still here by the time she was done with this song, she was most likely going to introduce herself to this person. Seeing how he showed an interest in the music that she was playing. |

Johnny noted the odd material of the guitar being played and found it odder still that it was capable of producing a sound similar to that of an electric guitar. He thought it must have an internal amplifier with an equally internal power source to accomplish that. There were other possible explanations about the guitar and Johnny discounted none of them including the probability of an enchantment of sorts. Regardless of the truth Johnny was able to come to one of two acceptable conclusions. Either the guitarist was not a simple street performer or she had stolen the instrument and learned how to use it. He found the notion of a street performer having the funds to purchase such a unique and seemingly custom-made instrument ridiculous. Equally, the guitar could have been a gift but Johnny found it difficult to see the good in anyone and quickly dismissed that idea. Please don't ruin this for me with your suspicions. Daniel pleaded, its words reached no one's ears and entered Johnny's mind directly. We know nothing about her. If she truly is just some homeless girl trying to earn some pocket change with her public performances then that means she is desperate and therefore dangerous. Johnny argued through the same method of communication. You haven't even talked to her yet! Daniel's anger-laced reply was felt by Johnny who visibly winced. She hasn't tried hurting us yet and we are more than capable of defending ourselves if she turns out dangerous. Daniel argued in a calm and logical manner he believed Johnny would understand. I don't want to risk having to reveal you yet. We aren't ready. Johnny replied. You don't have to reveal me. I can attack and defend from inside the backpack without harming you, and give my energy a green color to make it look like you're just a mage with magic materia. Daniel suggested, which was an idea it knew Johnny actually considered applicable. Alright, we'll do that if it becomes necessary. Johnny answered and felt Daniel's confidence, which he knew meant the entity believed they would not have to fight the guitarist. Just talk to her already. Johnny sensed the desperation in Daniel's telepathic voice but thought it harmless to comply for the moment. "Um," Johnny began and paused. It was awkward for him to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. "Hi," The single clumsy syllable was hardly audible. |

While she had been sitting there playing her guitar for this man, she had been wondering what exactly this person was doing here. While she didn't want to think about it that much, she couldn't help it as her music flowed through the air of these slums. It was always better to be on the safe side of things, and how could you possibly do that if you didn't know about the person that was right in front of you. However, after she had looked at him a little bit, he didn't seem that offending. So, she would stop with all this negative thinking, like she had planned to do when he first got here. Though, it was interesting to see that he stuck around for this long listening to her music. Things, however, seemed to take an interesting turn as he spoke to her. From what she could tell, it wasn't that pleasant to be talking at the moment, and she wondered why. Kitsune didn't have the trouble of talking to complete strangers, since she wasn't exactly raised in a way that would have taught her the way the world worked, and talking to strangers was generally frowned upon. While Kitsune didn't go out to talk to any person on the street, if she had the need to talk to someone she would do it. Though, she wondered what this particular person wanted with her, and why he didn't say more than a simple greeting when he did speak. "Hello there," she responded, finishing the song right before she did so. Relaxing herself in a more sitting back position while she talked to him, it took a bit of stamina to just sit there and play the guitar, so it was good that she got a break. While her hands didn't hurt anymore due to the callouses, she had been playing a long while today and it was good to relax for once. Though, she needed to keep this conversation up or else this person might just walk away. "Do you like what you hear?" she asked, obviously referring to the music she had been playing, "You seemed to be enjoying it." If there was anything a musician wanted out of a conversation would be to hear how good their music was. While this would give Kitsune some motivation, she wouldn't lay her whole music career on what this one person would say. She knew her music was good, and if anyone said otherwise, she wouldn't take much out of what they said. |

“Your music,” Johnny began and paused as though searching for the right words. “It almost took my mind off things for a moment.” He eventually and truthfully added. For all of his faults Johnny preferred being honest even if he intentionally omitted some truths that he considered worth keeping secret. “That’s an interesting instrument you’re carrying. How did you get it?” He asked and there was no mistake that he had asked how rather than where with insuppressible suspicion. Whether or not the musician detected the hint of distrust in Johnny’s voice Daniel assuredly felt it. Are you going to drive her away too? Daniel irritably asked. Unless she plans on trying to harm us, her reaction to my questioning is no concern of mine. I am here merely for your benefit. Johnny replied. Why does this have to be so difficult for you? Why can't you just enjoy yourself for once? Daniel demanded. The world is unforgivably wrong, I find no reason for enjoyment or celebration. Johnny answered. If you continue living this way, you won't be able to change anything. You'll only end up alone without anyone but me to care for you and your cause. We both know it, and what being powerless against the world and lonely in it feels like. Are you suggesting, I befriend a complete stranger? Johnny asked. It would be enough for me if you stopped treating her like an enemy. Besides, if she has the power to harm us then she definitely has the power to help us. Alright, we'll try it your way for now. Johnny conceded with some reluctance. Johnny faked a convincing smile and offered the guitarist his left hand to shake hers. "The name's Johnny by the way," He managed to speak with a cheerful tone. "What's yours if you don't mind me asking?" Edited by Galileo, Jan 17 2010, 12:12 AM.

"Good to hear I almost took your mind off things," Kitsune replied to what the man said about her music. It was a good response, as it meant that her music was at least able to satisfy to a small degree. While she would have rather heard that the music was good, she was starting to think that this was the man's way of saying so. Kitsune was figuring that this person wasn't that trustful of people, sort of like she was. However, with his next question, it would seem that his distrust spanned farther than her's ever would. "The guitar?" Kitsune stated, when she obviously knew what he was talking about, "My family bought it for me when I turned eighteen, after seeing my enthusiasm of playing the instrument." Of course, she was referring to her family in Wutai, but she didn't want to tell that to a complete stranger. Better to have him think she lived here her whole life rather than come from Wutai. At the moment, Kitsune wasn't able to trust anyone to tell what happened to her in her life, at least until she faced her original family. Taking his extended hand in her own, Kitsune was a bit confused at this person's personality. From what she could see, he was suspicious earlier, but now was all smiles. "Kitsune Syncreed, and pleasure to meet you Johnny," for it was truly a pleasure. It was always good to meet new people, even if you weren't able to tell how they really were inside. Though, that didn't really matter unless you interacted with the person a lot, and Kitsune didn't know how long she would know this person. "So, what brings you to this part of Midgar?" she asked, as she pushed on the conversation away from herself. She didn't want people to know what she was, and her past, so she was turning it a bit towards him. Though, honestly, she didn't know how he would react to this question. But Kitsune wanted to see what he would say, as she was starting to get interested in this person. |

“I was born here and haven’t left even though it is the birth place of so many atrocities.” Johnny answered truthfully, revealing information about himself he thought wouldn’t hurt to share. “Though, if I really wanted to, I could probably leave. It wouldn’t be fair, I think. I mean, I know life isn’t fair and plenty of people are dealt a shitty hand. As you can tell, I’m no optimist, but running away simply because I can escape from this city of horrors seems cowardly. I figure if I have the power to find a better life for myself, I might have enough power to help others as well or, at the very least, the potential to get that kind of power.” He had managed to open up and ended up revealing more than he intended. “You probably have it good and think nothing of the problems in the world. What with your fancy guitar and musical talent. Your folks obviously care a lot about you if they’re willing to invest in your interests to such a degree. But, I’m probably assuming too much and should shut it long enough to hear your story if you’d like to share it.” Johnny finally stopped talking and waited for her response. He had never opened up quite like that before and probably would not have if Daniel had not insisted on having him socialize. It was as though he had finally released an oppressive pressure building up within his very soul. He felt a sudden ache for comfort and companionship. Whether the sensation belonged to Daniel or to himself, he could not tell. The overpowering surge of emotions he now experienced muddled things. Not for the first time, he had difficulty keeping his consciousness intact. He struggled to prevent it from fully merging with Daniel’s and becoming something completely different. |

Kitsune would sit there on the steps and listen to what he had to say about himself. Honestly, she didn't expect this man to say so much about himself and his view on this city they called Midgar. Though, she was surprised to hear that they shared a similar view about helping people that need help, using their powers to do so. While Kitsune didn't think this person knew of the powers that were within herself, there were very few who knew of it. Kitsune didn't even know the full extent of what she could do, only the very little the dragon inside of herself had taught her so far. When Johnny started saying stuff about Kitsune though, she wasn't to happy about what he had said, getting it exactly backwards of what the situation actually was. She didn't want him thinking she was like that, so she was going to have to correct him by telling him her story, something that she didn't think she'd be doing today. "You got the part about my parents right," she stated, trying her best to not just yell at him about how he was wrong. "Though, I know that there is a problem in this world, seeing as people manage to get away with experimenting on people for years at a time. Like me for instance," she said with a slight smile. "For fourteen years I was kept by Shin-Ra, from birth until I managed to escape." It was at this point that Kitsune started laughing, "You know what the best part was? My father was the one that wanted them to experiment on me." Though, that may have been too much information for this person, but Kitsune didn't really care. He had asked, so she had told, though she wasn't finished yet. "So I found a new family, which was a vast improvement from my original one, they were the ones that got me the guitar if you couldn't guess. Then I came back to fight against the people who experimented on me," with that, Kitsune was finished with her little tale. She didn't know how this person would react to her story, and she didn't really care that much. After telling her story to this person, it made her just want to go fight Shin-Ra right now. Though, she knew that if she went there, she'd just be captured and most likely experimented on again. So, after a deep breath to calm herself down, she looked towards the man to judge his reaction to what she had told him. |

“I can’t say I understand your pain,” Johnny began to reply after both he and Daniel silently listened to her story. His face revealed obvious interest even after she stopped speaking. “I’ve never experienced anything as horrible as you’ve described. It must have taken a lot of courage to leave the ones who love you to return to a place that has caused you so much suffering. I admire your dedication to righting the wrongs done to you.” Johnny’s lips had long since curved into a genuine smile. “Something bothers me though,” Johnny continued after a momentary pause. “It sounds like you have some powerful enemies. I’m not one to shy from a fight, but even I won’t go around picking battles I can’t possibly win. I’m not saying you're weak or anything. I’m just curious to know how you plan on dealing with the people who hurt you.” At this point, Johnny considered the possibility of making her an ally just as Daniel suggested. In an attempt to make her more comfortable about revealing additional truths about herself, Johnny decided a small demonstration of his own power was in order. Daniel, I require one-seventeenth of your accessible energy. Johnny requested from the entity still hidden in his backpack. I know what you're doing and let me take this opportunity out to say, I told you so! Daniel remarked. Now, Daniel. Johnny thought impatiently. Johnny’s right hand began glowing white as the smallest amount of Daniel’s energy was transferred to it. Johnny then connected the palms of his hands together until they both began glowing with a soft colorless light. He slowly spread them apart and the energy between them began expanding as though adhering to his skin. His fingers twitched rapidly several times and the light started taking on a definite shape. “The reason behind my inquiries is that I want to help you.” Johnny spoke gently while continuing to work the light. Johnny finished his little project and the light between his hands gradually dimmed. His fingers wrapped around the ends of the finished solid white object. In the faltering glow of the energy he had called upon from Daniel, the object in his hands could be recognized as a white acoustic guitar. “This is one of my powers, quite possibly my favorite. I can create objects that actually work. You can even try playing this guitar while you decide if you want to tell me more.” Johnny then offered the guitar to her. If she accepted it, she’d discover that even though it had substance, it weighed slightly less than her crystal instrument and was a tad more durable. Edited by Galileo, Jan 18 2010, 11:44 PM.

Listening to what he had to say about her tale of sorrow, Kitsune found that he was supportive of what she had done. To him, it was a good thing what she was going, coming back to Midgar to correct the wrongs that had been committed against her. It felt good that someone was supporting her, besides the people from Wutai that is. Though, Kitsune didn't know this person that well and didn't know what his intentions were as of yet. So she had be weary about what he said, she can't just trust any person that gave her the thumbs up on what she was doing. This was when he went on to inquire on how she was planning on fighting the powerful people of Midgar. She had a feeling that he knew that she had some sort of power that would eventually make this possible, it's just she didn't want to go showing this power to any person that walked in front of her. Also, she didn't exactly like using her powers that much, as they reminded her of what happened to her during the majority of her life. While she did use them a bit, she wasn't just going to flaunt them whenever the situation arose to use them. Something interesting was happening with this person, as it would seem that he knew she wouldn't just show him her powers by just asking. Some strange white energy came from his hands, an energy that Kitsune had never seen before in her life. This was also when he said that he wanted to help her in her quest to defeat the people that had stolen away her life. It was an interesting proposal, as Kitsune had figured that she would be doing the fighting on her own, she didn't think she would gain any allies on her mission. After Johnny explained that this was some power that he had, his favorite at that, she wondered what else he could do with his power. She would in fact take the guitar, not saying anything yet about what she could do. After playing a simple tune, Kitsune was impressed by what this person could do with his powers. With a power like that, almost anything was possible. If you ever needed a specific tool at any given time, this person could make it, a very powerful power indeed. The instrument was even lighter, and somehow more durable than her crystal guitar, which was an amazing feat. "That is truly amazing," she started, strumming on the guitar once to hear it's clarity, "An amazing power that can fight against this unjust world." With that she would smile and give back his guitar in favor of her own crystal guitar. She would indeed tell this person what she could do, as he seemed to be a very capable individual. Also, they seemed to share a similar view of the world, though there were differences still. "My power seems to stem off of a dragon's power," she started, wondering how to put it. "I don't quite understand it, but there seems to be some sort of materia in my body that gives me strength, though it bars me from using any other materia." Concentrating for a moment on her guitar, Johnny would be able to see that there was now a black flame like aura around her instrument. "One part of my power is being able to increase the strength of crystal and diamond weapons with my own power, you could say." Alas, it was true, as her guitar would now be about the same durability as the guitar Johnny created with his power. Her power drained a bit of energy as long as she used it, but it was worth it if she got into a physical battle. Though, she would let her power down as she didn't want to drain all her energy away for this show. "I am currently in the process of mastering my other abilities, which are a tad bit underdeveloped at the moment," she was referring to her dragon song and draconic shift, which were two abilities that she wanted to perfect before she faced off against Shin-Ra. It may take some time, but Kitsune had all the time in the world. |

Johnny was not about to take everything the guitarist said at face value, but he did not want to make his doubts about her visible. His smile softened into a grin that made his interest in her apparent and he allowed her as much time as she needed or wanted to discuss her supposed powers. Even he admitted to himself that the possibility of someone possessing the power of a dragon was intriguing to say the least. Johnny did not accept his creation back; not that it could have become a permanent gift for his new ally or friend as Daniel preferred calling her. Instead, the white guitar dissolved into rapidly fading slivers of light. Like Kitsune’s ability to enhance her weapons and armor, Johnny required a continuous supply of energy to maintain his seemingly miraculous creations. While Johnny suspected Daniel housed an infinite supply of power, neither of them could access any more than an insignificant amount of it at any time. He noted her demonstration and had no doubt that the black aura that had suddenly enveloped the crystal guitar enhanced it in some way. He still had his doubts and thought that it lacked in terms of evidence to her claims of hosting a dragon. While he knew better than most that anything was possible, he was not gullible and ended up doubting the word of anyone except for his and Daniel’s own. “We’re all limited including me.” Johnny spoke in response to her confessing her limitations. “In case you haven’t notice, anything I make with my favored power isn’t exactly permanent. It’s okay to have weaknesses as long as you try overcoming them. I probably don’t need to tell you because it looks like we’re both working on that, but you don’t have to do it alone.” He felt uncomfortable telling her about one of his weaknesses even if he had intentionally avoided going into full detail. He had done so in hopes of further encouraging her to trust in and rely on him. Thank you, Daniel for bringing me out of my shell. I may not be able to change this world yet, but I can at least rally others to my cause. |

After her demonstration was over, she was still able to see that he was interested in what he saw. While she didn't know if he believed her or not, she didn't really have any way of showing him the truth yet. She could play one of the songs that she was taught, but that wouldn't prove that the power came from a dragon. The only way that she could think to show him was to use her draconic shift power, and she couldn't even use that correctly yet. It was actually quite humorous, seeing how she had the ability to change her body into part dragon, but she couldn't even use it as of yet. If she would have been able to show him that ability, then there would be no doubt in his mind that she was telling him the truth. But, then again, Kitsune didn't have anything to prove to this person, as of yet. Though, he would be a great ally in her war against Shin-Ra, if he were to help that is. "Though, if any of your other powers are as impressive as that one, then your limitations do not seem that bad," she stated after hearing what he said. "I am improving them, it's just that one I can't use without effecting everyone, even my allies, and the other I can't even manifest correctly yet." After saying that, she would lift up her right arm and point the back of her fist towards Johnny. Concentrating as hard as she could on manifesting the dragon shift, the only thing that came from it was a few scales going down her arm from her knuckles. Though, those scales would soon fade away back into her arm a second after creation, as she wasn't strong enough to manifest the power as of yet. "See, I try and get nothing." To some it would probably sound like she was complaining about not being able to do it, but to Kitsune it was just showing the man the problem she had. "So, working together with this may be a good idea. Since we both have the power to aid each other," she stated after thinking a little bit more. Kitsune wondered where they would go from there, if they would part ways or continue discussing what they were going to do. One thing was for sure though, Kitsune was glad that this meeting had occurred, since she gained an ally. With this person's power, she might be able to fight against Shin-Ra one day, and she could help him with what he needed to do. |

Johnny watched her hand change for a moment and his grin faded. He looked as expressionless as he had from the moment he first approached her. He nearly even frowned until she allowed him a chance to reply. Perhaps she did possess a dragon after all or vice versa, but even if she did, Johnny knew little about dragons except for what fictional stories said about them. Authors often contradicted each other regarding popular myths and legends. In the end, Johnny hardly spent any time in the past reading about them except during his early years, a time in which he recalled feeling genuinely happy. “What better time to start helping each other than today? For what is today but yesterday’s tomorrow?” Johnny asked her almost cryptically. Reading what Johnny intended to do next, Daniel quickly protested. If you go through with this, you might make her into an enemy. We do not know the full extent of her powers. If she is telling me the truth then she has clearly expressed her limitations. You were right all along, Daniel. I cannot progress by practicing alone, hidden in the shadows of this wretched city. Johnny argued. You're putting words in my mouth so to sp- Cooperate! Johnny angrily ordered. Their silent conversation between one another had transpired over a mere second in real time. Daniel reluctantly supplied Johnny with twice the amount of energy he had needed to construct the guitar. Johnny then raised the palm of his right hand toward Kitsune and fired upon her once. DNaC

Something was off, as Kitsune noticed that Johnny's grin went away after she tried to manifest her draconic shift power. It is possible for one to just suddenly change moods, but Kitsune didn't know if this person was one of those people. Kitsune was wondering what caused this change of facial expression, seeing as all she had done was try to confirm what she had told him. Though, whatever his problem was, she was sure that it wasn't that bad, however, she may be being to trusting of this person. "What?" Kitsune asked in reply to his weird statement. She figured that he would help her somehow now, but the way he said caused her to wonder about for a few seconds. Her wondering would come to an end, as a blast of energy came her way. Crying out in pain as the blast both blasted into her and being pushed into the stairs by the force of the energy, Kitsune wasn't a happy camper. This attack would cause a surge of rage to rise from the Syncreed woman, a rage both directed at herself for trusting this person, and an anger towards this person in general. "To think I was going to trust you," Kitsune stated to the man, a black aura now starting to cover her body. Little did either of them know, Kitsune didn't know she could unleash the power of this draconic aura, she had only figured she could use the power on her guitar. Instantly after she had willed this aura to come with her anger, the wound that Johnny had inflicted on her had disappeared, healed by the draconic power. Grabbing her guitar with both hands, Kitsune would attempt to smash it over the kid's head. The instant she grabbed the guitar she also created the aura on that, as to make it more suitable to beating the hell out of this kid. Though, if this attack would hit the boy or not, she could only hope that it would. |

An anger-fueled reaction from her was only to be expected after what Johnny had done, but he had not expected what happened next. A lightless aura identical to the one that had encased the crystal guitar mere moments ago soon materialized around the young woman. The visible damage Johnny had inflicted upon her vanished, healed by the very energy he suspected was now empowering her. Perhaps she does host a dragon after all. She either lied to me about her limits, held back or, by angering her, I helped awaken her. Johnny thought while consciously observing Kitsune. Johnny watched her swing her guitar at him and did not feel confident in his ability to evade the incoming instrument. He visualized a mask-like helmet to cover his entire head and face. One that would contour to the unique curves of his nose, mouth, eyes, ears etcetera on the inside while remaining smooth and featureless on the outside. A white durable mask soon solidified around his head and face from seemingly nowhere after Daniel had supplied the amount of energy required for Johnny to construct it. Apart from two eyeholes and two slits in front of where Johnny’s nose was, the helmet concealed his entire head and face. The guitar smacked down atop the helmet, which cushioned the blow to some extent. Johnny swayed and nearly fell to his knees from the impact, but he was able to steady himself. He then stared directly at Kitsune; his grayish-blue eyes revealed nothing of the emotions his face may have been expressing at that moment. I would like to see how she stands up against our strongest attack. Johnny thought to Daniel. We've never used it on an actual person before! It could kill her! Daniel screamed in Johnny's mind. Stop being so dramatic, I doubt we could kill her as we are now. Now, stop questioning me and do as I say! Johnny quickly replied. Daniel could not think of anything to say or, more accurately, think in reply. It supplied Johnny with the energy before its voice resounded within his mind. My accessible energy is almost half gone, you might want to start carefully considering how you spend it. Your concerns are duly noted. Johnny thought back before releasing an attack against Kitsune. The burst took the shape of a flying white ball of light. It was a tad more powerful an accurate than its predecessor, but it was considerably weaker than Johnny had anticipated. What a waste. Bad luck, chum. Daniel's unwelcome remark caused Johnny to close his eyes for a second to calm his nerves. |

Right before Kitsune hit the head of the person in front of her, she noticed that Johnny had put some sort of helmet of his head. She knew that the helmet would cause her attack not to hurt so much, and that wasn't a good thing. Kitsune didn't know the power that this person had at his command, so she wanted to end this as quickly as possible. Though, she didn't know if she had the power to end this so quickly, as his special abilities made him a hard one to face. It was especially hard to fight a person who could protect themselves in an instant like he could, though, he would have have to run out of energy eventually. When that would happen though, Kitsune didn't know, she just hoped that it was sooner than later. Kitsune had figured that there would be a counter attack, but didn't figure that it would be as powerful as the attack she saw in front of her now. There wasn't anything she could do to dodge the blast coming towards her, one that looked stronger than the first one, but wasn't that much stronger. Though, the damage was now apparent on her person, as the draconic aura was draining away on her health and it was quite obvious to anyone that was looking. One more attack like that from Johnny would knock Kitsune out for the count, and giving the win of this fight to him. While most people in this state would think about running away, Kitsune was not even considering it. Rather, she would stay and fight, and attempt to beat the person that betrayed her trust. 'Use your instincts,' a voice whispered withing Kitsune's mind. She knew that it what it was, and it was something she wasn't expecting. Though, she would follow it's advice, for she knew she needed it's help. Letting her 'instincts' direct her actions, Kitsune soon sprouted two dragon like wings from her shoulder, and then procedded to use them to fly up in the air not that far from Johnny. Now wielding her guitar the correct way, Kitsune channeled all of her magical energies through the guitar, and strummed down once on the strings, unleashing the power as a shock wave of sound. How Johnny would react to this shock wave, Kitsune didn't know, but she was hoping that something good would happen to her situation. |

Johnny decided against expending additional energy on his helmet and allowed it to dissolve into nothing. Despite her somewhat intimidating appearance, Kitsune did not seem like a powerful combatant to him and he felt armor against her was unnecessary. He thought it better to conserve Daniel’s remaining power for a more effective and cost efficient offense. He would have continued his assault in such a manner if it had not been for the guitarist’s unexpected transformation. The sudden change garnered the teen’s automatic approval and he believed without further doubt that she indeed possessed the power of a dragon. For a moment, he was actually afraid of her, especially when she lifted off the ground and unleashed an attack through her instrument. His fear was mixed with a sense of delight because he knew that he had pushed her to this moment. A moment in which an aspiring fighter improved themselves by going beyond their limits of yesterday. Johnny tried turning to run, but he was not quick enough to avoid the magically charged shockwave that soon collided into him. Sensing danger, Daniel also tried evading the oncoming wave of magic by leaving the backpack and soaring upward, but it failed to fly away fast enough. The attack struck both and caused an unusual pain that neither of them had experienced before. Johnny fell to the ground, shocked by his latest discovery about Daniel. He had assumed the energy entity was impervious to harm and simply experienced his pain. Pain and injury between the two was not a one-way road as he had wrongfully assumed. Daniel was vulnerable to magic and damage it experienced Johnny felt, as though whatever attack successfully issued against it had targeted him. Johnny slowly and shakily stood up and noticed that Daniel was floating just above him and in full view of their new acquaintance. He did not bother reprimanding Daniel for following its instincts to flee. Instead, he turned to face Kitsune with a smile that made him look as though he considered her his best friend. His was not a huge toothy smile professionals often used to hide their animosity toward their competitors. Instead, it was a casual and happy smile, which made Johnny seem genuine. “Good job! You did it! You’re stronger now!” Johnny congratulated her. “Sorry if I roughed you up too much. I couldn’t hold back because I wanted to see what you could do for real. I ended up doing more than that and I hope we can still be allies.” “If not friends,” Daniel audibly chimed in without permission. “Hi, my name’s Daniel,” It introduced itself. As it settled just above his right shoulder, Johnny gave it a look of slight irritation. He then looked at Kitsune and smiled again while he tried explaining Daniel’s existence to her without revealing anything important. “My relationship with Daniel here is a bit complicated and hard to explain. I’m actually trying to keep its existence a secret, but let’s just say this floating and talking ball means a lot to me.” “Thanks, Johnny. You mean a lot to me too,” Daniel replied cheerfully, revealing nothing specific as silently ordered by Johnny. Edited by Galileo, Jan 23 2010, 06:05 PM.

Kitsune didn't know that she had this sort of power within herself. It was strange to be flying there above the person that had just attacked her not so long ago. Though, she felt that the wings were going to go away soon, and so she landed on the ground right before the wings fused back into her body. Standing there in a bit of shock at her new found ability, Kitsune hardly noticed the floating white ball that came out of the kid's backpack. She also noticed that Johnny didn't attack her back, as he expected that he would do after she unleashed that attack upon him. Rather, it would seem that he was happy about this new development that had occurred, which struck Kitsune as strange. Starting to wonder what he was up too, Johnny had started to speak. Wondering what exactly was going in, Kitsune recalled what he had said before, about helping each other today. That was when the realization hit her, that Johnny had attacked her in hopes of bringing some deeper strength out of her, which was pretty much what he had just said. It was now that Kitsune let down her draconic aura, feeling that she wasn't in danger from this person anymore. Though, it was also because if she kept it anymore she would have probably passed out due to the stress that the ability caused. "Yeah, I'll be fine," she managed to say while her mind was still racing through everything that happened. "You know what, I think we can be friends, and nice to meet you Daniel," Kitsune said shortly after her first statement of health. If you would think about it, what these two did for her was more than almost everyone else in the world, for they had drove her to become stronger than she already was. Kitsune wondered if she hadn't ever meet these two, how long would it have taken before she learned that technique? Well, thinking thoughts like that was of no productive value, since it had been done already. "You know, I'm glad to have you two on my side," Kitsune said after Johnny finished speaking, "If that had gone on much longer I believe you would have came out the victor." All that really meant was that Kitsune was just going to have to work harder to survive, seeing as she was almost beaten by Johnny. All in all, Kitsune was glad that the battle was over, since she was now really starting to feel the pain. It wasn't horrible pain, but it was more than she had experienced in a long time. She would be fine, but it made her wonder what it would have been like if they would have kept on going. |

Johnny was relieved to see that she was no longer angry with him. Sometimes pain would drive someone beyond the point of reasoning. Had that happened then he would have certainly made for himself an enemy rather than an ally. He had gambled and things seemed to have gone in his favor. “We’ve had some practice,” Johnny admitted, “Not nearly enough to do much about the terrible things in the world. That’s why those of us who want to get rid of evil and do good should work together.” Johnny paused in thought and continued after a few seconds of silence had passed. “I’d like to think that there are more people like us in the world. People who can’t and won’t accept the awfulness around them and wish to take a stand against it. I want to find people like that, like us and unite against those who think nothing of the destruction, death and suffering they cause through their selfish pursuits.” He spoke with a passionate tone that grew increasingly, but not discomfortingly, audible. “That’s why I have to leave, at least for a little while. We’ve sure made some excellent progress today and I hope to continue working with you so we can both get better. All I can give you now is a means of contacting me in case you ever need me before our next meeting.” Johnny slipped his backpack off his shoulders and unzipped one of its smaller pouches. He removed from it a pen and small notebook. He wrote down his cell phone number on a sheet of paper, tore the paper from his notebook and offered it to Kitsune. “You do have a means of contacting me by phone, don’t you?” Johnny asked, secretly hoping he had not just made a fool of himself. |

Standing there listening to what he had to say, made Kitsune glad that she had decided to become this person's friend. This was a person that was very devoted to his cause, and she could see him accomplishing what he has set out to do with his life. It also made her glad that she was helping him, seeing as what he was setting out to do seemed to be good in her eyes, and she wanted this world to become a better place just like he wanted to do. While they were not strong enough to do anything about the world yet, Kitsune knew that they would get there. This meeting was coming to a close though, as Johnny needed to leave. To do what, Kitsune had no idea, but she knew that it would be something that would further himself somehow. "Thank you for your number, and yes, I have a phone," Kitsune replied while she pulled out her cell phone from her pants pocket. She would take his piece of paper and add the number to her phone book, which was the first number in there besides her family back in Wutai. As for the name she put, it was simply just J+D. If Johnny would allow her, she would borrow the pen to write her number down on the back of the piece of paper that he gave her, and then return both to him, so that he would have her number as well. Well, she could have called him as well, seeing that most phones had caller ID, but she wanted to make sure that they had her number. "It was nice meeting you both," she said after it was done referring to both Johnny and the white entity that was Daniel. It has been a really interesting meeting, and Kitsune didn't really know where to go from here. Most likely she would go back to the popular streets and play some more music for some more money, since she would need money for things that would help her. She was actually thinking about getting a diamond instrument, since her powers worked with it and it would be way stronger as well. Though, she would wait for Johnny to leave first, just in case he had anything more to say, then she would proceed to the streets to earn some more monies. |
