A cool breeze drifted over the rolling plains, rustling the stalks of grass against each other in a symphony of calm. The blue sky overhead smiled down to the earth it loved with it's heart and soul, protecting it from the sun with a thick and gray layer of clouds that traveled from mountain tops in the south to the horizon in the north. In the distance the pounding surf of the sea could be heard; a jealous lover constantly bothering the earth. A pack of Brandersnatches sat lazily together, enjoying some leisure as a pack. The cubs played together while the adults kept a constant vigilance. There seemed little place for man in this serenity that was life. However, man was simply unavoidable in this kind of world. Just visible in the distance, the great human city of Midgar rose into the distance around a dead field, a ring of dirt that stood out from the life around it.

A man clad in a black SOLDIER uniform stood in the waist deep grass, almost as if he were posing against in the vast nature that surrounded him. He looked to the group of Brandersnatches as they played and made merry. He envied them; the got to enjoy life. The man cracked his neck and rubbed his eye patch in an attempt to get it into a more comfortable position. It didn't help so he simply took it off and let the air cool his naked face for a few moments. There was no rush; the team he had ordered had yet to arrive. From what he had heard the team he was assigned to lead was quite interesting. He had never heard of them before but one of them appeared to be a furry midget. He had never believed in moogles, but he figured that if there was one in this whole world it might as well be this tiny carpet of a man he was about to meet. He sighed and smile; it would be nice not having a full platoon of SOLDIERs to command because there was no need for formalities. Civilians were easy; tell them to kill something and they did it. Sometimes in entertaining manners, but they got the job done.

The SOLDIER took out his phone and looked at his watch. It was getting to be the time the lab boys had given him. Then, just as if on cue, the earth shook for a moment and stopped. The SOLDIER looked up towards the ocean and saw nothing. He turned to the Brandersnatches to see them alert and wary. Another quake shook the land and the pack took off running, seemingly towards safety. Birds of all kinds flew into the sky, away form harm. Once again, the SOLDIER envied them. He could fly or run away; he had to fight. A low moan filled the air that would probably be heard in Midgar and the SOLDIER looked to the ocean. The time was drawing near and he hoped his team would be here soon.

Doesn't particularly like the Art of Fighting, but definitely wants to be the King of Fighters.
Chris was on his way back from Mideel. He originally went that way to make a few upgrades to his machine, but his plans were changed when he encountered Topra, one of the fighters that got displaced by that teleporting lady that he and several others had faced a few days ago, who was looking for a way back to Midgar. He had shown up in his armor as he heard about a collosal beast having come out from the sea. Chris didn't see it on the way there, though.

However, on the way back, he caught a good view of the monster in question, even from how far away he was. To say that just throwing everything its way won't do the trick would be correct. Chris had to keep his distance initially, as coming within its reach before being ready to engage was a death sentence, more likely so for Topra than himself. Chris eventually overtook the beast and found what appeared to be a lone, probably high-ranking SOLDIER standing there in the middle of the fields. The uniform color suggested that he was certainly not a new recruit.

Chris decided to descend and meet up with the SOLDIER, if only to ask what he was there for. "I take it you know what you're doing." Chris said. Chris briefly checked his equipment's Materia arrangement, and decided to keep his usual set of Materia in play on the armor, and filled his weapon's slots with the standard Magic energy booster and two that he wanted to build up. "Although I'm pretty sure putting that big monster to 5% of its normal height won't work, more in the sense that it just plain won't let me do that." Chris mused to himself, "If I, or Nex should he join the group, can find or make a 3-inch gap in its defenses..."

MOOGLE AWWWWAAAAYYYY!!!
“Dum deed um dum…my name is Nex, and I’m going to kill monsters…heehee!” Nex didn’t usually sing to himself in the Mog Chopper, but today was a special today. For some reason, he had been requested to some random part of the Rolling Fields. He was promised ‘Lots of cake, and justice,’ so he had to check it out. He forgot where he left Lini, probably somewhere not very pleasant, but he’d pick him up later. What mattered now was that somewhere, there was a giant monster that Nex needed to kill. Otherwise, he would be really, really bored.

Glancing down from his machine, he noticed two figures down in the grass. He shrugged, and began his descent. Within a few minutes, the chopper had touched ground, and Nex slowly climbed out, dusting himself off.

“What’s the plan? Are we fighting evil demons? I am so ready for this. One sec,” He climbed into his chopper and hit a button on the control panel. A moment later, the MOOGLEBOTv2 had dashed up next to the three.

“Good, now I’m all set. Got my guns, got my magic, got my….shit, where’s my hoagie?” He climbed back into the chopper.

“Damnit, Lini must have stolen it from me before I left…urg, he’s probably mad I left him…wherever..I left him. Oh well. Let’s kill some monsters!”

It couldn't be more far from the truth
If you could do to me the things you would do
And I know you're on to me
I'm watching you wanting me
You hunt down the rebels and punish them wrongfully
You came with fire and weapons to kill

The city of Midgar. Clouds hung around it like flies around a dead dog carcass. Corruption overflowed from the sewers and into the streets in the form of pimps and prostitutes. The Dark God, Shin-Ra, sat upon its throne watching the people below squirm as they fought to avoid death for one more day. The very god that gave the people life took it away and sold it back to them before repeating the process in and eternal waltz of greed profit and despair. It was in this corrupt and chaotic city that the Fallen Knight found himself in. Trapped in a world that he did not know, haunted by a past he could not remember. But that was something he could worry about on another day.

Today Kai had something more important to deal with. Even the Black Monarch had people that were willing to sell off secrets to fill their own pockets or for protection from the seedier characters of the city. This is why Kai was in his current location, an empty alley way at the edge of one of the plates of Midgar. Three days prior he contacted a member of SOLDIER and gave the human an “incentive” to provide him with valuable information. And so now he was waiting in their meeting place, disguised in a black suit with a red dress shirt. No one would suspect that a centuries old vampire was hiding from Shin-Ra in plain view. Of course, it was hardly Kai’s style to hide himself.

He pressed his body back against a wall in the alley, his battle axe sat lazily in the grasp of his right hand. An inclosing panting told him that his contact was nearing. In about a minute a young man in a black cloak turned into the alley, out of breath from running. Kai gave the man a moment to catch his breath before speaking. “I am glad that you have chosen to assist me.” There was the slightest hint of sarcasm in his voice. Of course the man had “chosen” to help him, he had no choice in the matter. The man sneered at him and reached inside of his cloak. Kai stood up off the wall and shouldered his axe while he waited.

The man pulled out a folded up slip of paper and held it out to the vampire. “Y-you promise right? After this you’ll leave my parents alone.” The man’s hand was shaking and there was a distinct fear in his voice. Kai took the paper and began to unfold it. “Of course. I am a man of my word.” He said as he opened up the paper and began to read it. A small smile crept to his face and he looked up at the cloaked man. “A monster is it? How quaint.” The man nodded shakily as Kai folded the paper up again and placed inside his inner pocket. “Tell me, which way do I go to get to these ‘Rolling Fields’?” The man gulped and pointed out past the buildings of the city. “J-just go that way. It’s a big empty meadow, can’t miss it.” Kai smiled and patted the young man on the cheek. “Good boy.”

He rolled his neck and took Wolf Beil off of his shoulder. A familiar scent reached his nose and he smirked at his contact. “Do you smell that? Innocence personified. The young future of this world is approaching.” The man shifted uncomfortably and looked behind his back. “You mean some kids? Yeah I passed them on the way here. What about it?” The man turned around in time to watch Kai slam his axe in to his head. The man staggered back as Kai pulled the blade of the axe out and smiled a sick smile. The man attempted to sputter out a question but the blood seeping out of the wound to his head must have been coming from his brain, all he could do was stagger back. “I never said I’d let you live, only that I wouldn’t harm your family.” Kai bowed before the man and turned around. “Thank you for your assistance.

The knight flipped out his wings and pushed off the ground in the direction of the Rolling Fields. As he flew he heard a shriek come from the direction where he left his contact’s body. A malevolent chuckle came from the vampire as he flew out of the city and soon came into view of the fields. The sun glared down at him and he soon landed atop a small hill, drawing the paper from before. “According to this there should a small group around here somewhere.” Kai turned his nose upwards and began searching for human scents. After a few minutes of sifting through the various smells that littered the plains, Kai found his target. From the smell of things they were just over the next hill.

Kai smiled and placed his map and his hands inside his pants’ pockets. He whistled a cheery little tune and walked over the hill to meet his “partners” for this little adventure.

As the group began to gather, a vehicle would be heard bounding at almost breakneck speeds across the fields fallowed by the continuous sounds of yelling almost in a constant. this would only be broken as the sound of rubber grinding through dirt and that only broken by a series of thuds, and just as the screaming of an engine is heard leaving the group a man would be seen rolling just tot eh top of a hill before stopping on his side.

The man was obviously a SOLDIER but he laid there for but a second before a female voice was heard shouting "get UP you LAZY boned DOG!". Abruptly the SOLDIER would be then seen struggling to stand as he then shouted back "SHUT UP! LETS SEE YOU GET KICKED OUT OF A CAR GOING TOP SPEED AND THEN STAND WITH NO PROBLEM." He huffed and rubbed a spot that was obviously sore, he knew most of what he said fell with the wind or even under the gentle hum of the engine that seemed almost too quiet while working that hard.

The SOLDIER kicked some dirt in the cars direction before turning to face the group he obviously didn't notice before and lightly blushed "ahh shit," before standing as if recovered and began making his way to the group.

The man scratched his head and sighed deeply. This was not good. He had prepared for working with civilians and understood the problems and difficulties with making them work as a team. However, he had been under pressure in the past and came out alright; that was why he as First Class. But this, this was just too much. Among the original six he had been promised, only four had arrived. He had even delayed his actions much longer than was considered safe, hoping that a few more people would join his rabble, but there was no such luck. What he had now was what he had to work with, so he decided it was time to do just that and get to work.

He took a moment to assess his troops as they gathered towards him, scanning them with both his regular eye then his 'second' eye. The first to arrive was a young man with a touch of magic to him. A spell caster with machine abilities. He would have his uses. The next was a furry with a technophilia complex. Scanning him was difficult, he he could just barely tell he was a powerful mage and would be a definite asset to the team... if he followed orders. The next two frustrated the SOLDIER. They were both young; young and stupid. The SOLDIER shook his head, thinking that they didn't quite know what they were getting into. He absentmindedly scratched his eye patch, not knowing why he did it. With all these things in mind, he decided to give them the battle plan, but first, Introductions were in order.

"Welcome," he said to his new group. "I'm glad to see each of you here, though if the other two had shown up this would have been much easier. My name is Keiji, and I'm a SOLDIER, First Class. You may all call me Keiji, except for you," he pointed exclusively at Shino. "I'm still 'sir' to you, you got it?" he went on, without waiting for a response. "The thing we fight today is going to be unlike anything you have ever encountered. As such, we'll have to deal with this a certain way. We need a plan.

"When the beast gets within range we'll climb onto it. While up there, I will find us a weak point to concentrate on. It will be up to you," he pointed to Chris "took keep an eye on us and heal us if we need it. By all means, help us attack, but I'm not much of a healer so I'm counting on you to remember that. Then, you two," he motioned to Kai and Shino this time. "will be the main strikers. When I find a weak point I'll mark it and you two keep attacking it we break it down. Think of it like breaking a bone, you'll know when you've done it. If we take down enough of it's weak spots we'll kill it. Finally, everyone will stay in a group to increase our chances. Everyone, that is, but you."

He pointed at Nex this time.

"You have a strong power to you. I'm giving you the job of covering us, keeping stray monsters off our back, while we work. Got it? Now, that's the strategy, but we still have some time before the battle..."

He trailed off here as the ground began to shake. It began as a slight tremor but soon turned into a massive quake that threatened to knock down anybody standing on the earth. Keiji looked around with puzzlement in his eyes; the creature wasn't here yet. Why was this happening. Then, as almost a cruel joke, his question was answered.

A large are of nearby ground exploded into the sky, scattering plants and dirt for hundreds of feet all around. A cloud of dust was raised up around the group, temporarily blinding them. However, another quake shook the earth and a great gale of wind blew the dust away to reveal the cause. Standing before the group, not more than a mere forty feet away, lay a great rad colossal monster in the shape of a short, flat worm. It's body stretched out for fifty feet and was made up of numerous armored segments and the segments were covered in a great tangle of roots. One end could be distinguished as it's head only because the plating formed into the shape of a dragon's face with stone eyes glowing yellow as they regarded the insignificant things before them. It's great jaw seemed to be curled in a perpetual smile as its teeth bore on the outside of its mouth, seemingly growing from it's skull.

Keiji stared in stupefied awe for a second before his senses came to it. In all his years of military service he had learned one important thing: When in doubt; kill it. That had saved him in the past and now was not a time to rediscover one's ideals. He gave a quick look to his team.

"Stick with the plan! Get on it while it's still down! Charge!" He then reached into his palm and pulled a great curved blade seemingly from inside his body. He held it high as he charged, marking the group to follow at attack. With one swift leap he jumped onto the creature's back, a mere seven feet. He gave the beast a quick scan looking for the first area. The thing was enormous, so scanning it was almost painful, but looking at just an area was good enough, and Keiji soon found his mark. He immediately ran to the spot and stabbed his sword into the beast's armor, marking the spot. He gave a quick wave to the party to show them where it was.

Deep inside, Keiji hoped the rest of it would be this easy.

Surprise round! The first Colossus is currently in a daze so you are all able to climb or fly onto it without any problems. This is going to work a little differently. There's more than just killing it.

1. Figure out how to kill it.
2. Survive long enough to kill it.
3. Kill it.

Here is the epic thread. Follow the rules and so on; you know this already.

"Sounds like something that probably can't or at least shouldn't be taken down with brute force." Chris said to Nex as he listened to the SOLDIER's instructions, "If they're sending a third-class who has to run away when caught in a battle with Flans to lead the attack..." Chris didn't get a chance to say much more, as the earth started rumbling and a sudden yet brief dust storm covered the area. There was the monster they were supposed to hunt.

"Alright, let's see...find the weak point." Chris said. His first guesses were to go for the eyes or the mouth, but then Keiji ran up and plunged his sword into the beast, finding a weak point to work with. Chris then yelled out to Nex, "Big chance here! Send a Thunder attack through his sword!" Meanwhile, Chris decided to get in something of his own. Namely, a Diving Phoenix into the colossus's eyes. A risky move, but hopefully one that would do something for damage.

Angeles flew over the fields between Kalm and Midgar when suddenly she spotted something. She angled her wing and stopped to turn to see what it was, then spotted a Soldier uniform and dispelled her wing, dropping out of the sky. She landed in a crouch and stood up before running over to where she could get a better look. There were people, fighting a massive creature that was difficult to describe but Angeles would put it under ‘legless dragon.’ It was a deep red color, and only one Soldier was present, it seemed to be an isolated incident that a whole bunch of people seemed to have been present for in order to take care of it.

Quickly she changed her feature, turning her hair dirty blond and making it wavy and changing her eyes to a blue-grey color before she dared stand enough to get a decent look at the people fighting. She recognized two of them, both she had fought in the gold saucer, one she had encountered more than that, and was not too pleased to have him there, but did not think all too much about it, as long as he didn’t instantly knock her out and leave her for the dragon to eat. With a smirk she realized that this was not the first or even second time they had fought a dragon together and she shook her head, wondering how on earth they didn’t know each other better.

She drew her sword from her shadow and ran forward, following suit with the others and climbed onto the monster’s back. When she heard one man scream something about Thundaga Angeles stepped away from the possible conductor, a sword struck into its armor. She looked up and noted it was a different machine that the moogle appeared to be using other than its normal robot. She turned and ran over to the Soldier, her Turk training kicking in as she stopped near him and said, “what is the situation?” other than the fact that we are standing on top of a nasty looking dragon creature?

With an almost sleepy look Shinoskay listened to the instructions and took a look over the people around him. He made a nod to note he understood he was to call the higher class SOLDIER sir but really thought it was a cocky and, if anything, a rude demand, Nonetheless he nodded in understanding. He again noted his part of the plan's and began to make sure his gloves where fastened when he suddenly felt a tremor, then a rumble, then what felt like a quake.

Shinoskay was about to ask when the E.A.T. (estimated attack time) was when suddenly something erupted from the ground and the SOLDIER who led the opt had a look of momentary fear before quickly coming to his senses and issuing the command. Shinoskay turned to the foe and watch where his present boss eased his sword into the foe and announced that to be a week spot.

The younger Soldier then began to run at a full sprint towards the tall beast and quickly used its armor to scramble up it to near the sword. Once up he immediately begun to pound his fists down onto the spot presented, He himself knew how odd he looked. HE was sure from a distance he looked like a wailing women pounding on her bf's chest for cheating on her and really doing nothing. None the less he pounded away, he was stronger then a wailing women.

Kai listened absent mindedly to the First Class and examined the others in the group. The brunette looked like he could hold his own, the elder SOLDIER would come in handy for whatever the threat was, the demonic looking rodent was a wild card as far as he knew, the lower ranked SOLDIER looked to be a weakling. He sighed as Kenji, as he introduced himself, began to assign jobs. It seemed he came to the conclusions about the group. A smirk danced playfully on Kai’s face as he listened to the SOLDIER brief the group on their enemy. A sudden rumbling filled the area and drew the knight’s attention.

A cloud of dust obscured Kai’s view as rocks flew around the group. He quickly flipped out a wing and used it as a shield against the debris. “It seems that we’ve run out of time for strategy.” He lowered his wing and look upon the face of their enemy. It appeared to some kind of stone beast that resembled a wingless wyvern. Kai smiled as the others around him began to spring into action. “A giant worm, is still nothing but a worm.” He flipped out his other wing and flew into the sky above the beast, searching for a chink in its natural armor. Kenji beat him to the punch and marked an area for attack.

Kai tossed Wolf Beil into the air and began to draw on his mystic energies. Dark clouds began to gather above the knight and clash with thunder and lightning. He raised his hand to the skies above as the Materia in his right arm began to glow beneath his clothing. With a flinging motion a bolt of lightning struck down for where Kenji’s sword was embed. Kai hoped it’d be enough to help break through the beast’s hide and make it easier to hammer.

MOOGLE AWWWWAAAAYYYY!!!
Nex had expected to work with a SOLDIER, and there was only one reason why that was acceptable to him. He had been promised giant monsters to kill, and so far, he hadn’t found any, yet. The SOLDIER seemed a bit frustrated for some reason, but Nex decided that finding and killing giant monsters was far too important for worrying about some random SHINRA unit. Apparently, this SHINRA unit’s name was Keiji. Nex decided that he would call him “PoopyMcSmellypants,” as that name seemed like it would really piss him off. The Moogle reached for his staff and counted his materia as PoopyMcSmellypants began assigning roles.

His was to keep excess monsters off of them while they worked. That seemed a little bit odd. Nex cocked his head for a moment, taking in a sharp breath, preparing to interject and yell something about justice and his power to create explosions when the ground began to rumble, and the earth was thrown up into the air. Nex floated up a mere three feet to avoid getting his toes all messed up. Then, a mere forty-odd feet away, a large, massive worm had appeared, and it didn’t look like it was there for the party.

In fact, it screamed ‘HEY I AM A GIANT MONSTER KILL ME!’ To Nex, so he smiled. The Moogle let out a maniacal laugh and flew forward, following Keiji, spinning his staff in one hand. The SOLDIER made the first blow, but Nex was quick to follow up with a sharp thunder to the near exact same point.

The beast groaned hazily as it noticed a small prick in it's back. It lazily shook it's hide to shake the thing off, making itself appear like a tired dog trying to shake the dirt from its coat. Kaiji simply gripped his sword more tightly and hung on. He watched as the group split up, one person heading to attack the eyes and the rest moving to strike his indicated spot. He sighed as he saw the human mage attack the eyes. It was a valiant effort, but he didn't think it would work. His attack struck the beast head on, catching the thing's eye on fire. It seemed almost that the beast had purely flesh of stone and no random fire would phase it. However, It did appear to leave a scorch mark on the eye, to which the thing tiredly blinked as it tried to clear it's vision. That would buy them time. Kaiji held his sword tightly as his foothold shifted; the beast was starting to become restless. Kaiji was about ready to pull his sword out and deal a good blow when he was interrupted by "What's the situation?"

He turned, his face covered with an irate scowl, to see a young woman standing atop the beast with him. His eyes fixed on her dirty blond hair and eyes and something turned in his stomach. He scanned her out of habit before he even realized he had done it, but the result was troubling. The scan failed; he could not identify this person or her abilities. That in itself was reason not to trust her, but now was not the time to worry about such things.

"The situation is that this thing and it's buddy over there," he motioned towards the massive colossus that was still crawling from the ocean "is going to destroy Midgar if we don't stop them! I hate to be rude, but make yourself useful and start hitting it or get out of the way!"

He finished his remark by plunging his sword into the beast's back again for punctuating himself. He turned to look at his team, only to barely jump away with his sword before two streaks of lightning blasted down onto the monster, cracking it's armor and leaving a smoldering black scar on the beast. He didn't look to see if the girl was alright, but he instead gave a quick scan to the thing to see how it was faring. The results were good so far, but it was no time to celebrate.

"Alright!" he yelled, hoping his voice could reach the team over the fray. "Keep attacking this point and wear him down! I'll find the next weak spot! You! Mage boy at the eyes! Keep it distracted!" He then gave his sword a quick flick, throwing the blood off it as he looked to Angeles. "You're coming with me."

He turned to move further down the creature's back when a great tremble shook the ground. The beast was fully awakened after the first blow and it was not happy about it's predicament. As it's yellow, lidless eyes focuses onto the world the first thing it saw was a young thing attacking it's eyes; Chris. It gave a bellowing wail that crumbled the field of grass for hundreds of feet, a great heat escaping from it's mouth as it did so. Then, as the wail finished, it slithered forward to crush Chris.

Chris didn't get a whole lot out of that attack, mostly failing to land a direct hit and leaving only a small burn mark on the creature's eye, to which the response was merely that approximating being shaken awake. On the other hand, it seemed like everyone who had a Thunder attack and was within range, including fellow beast-hunter Angeles who arrived somewhat late, decided the throw theirs at the beast. That did some damage, alright. "Or...everyone can shoot, I guess." Chris said.

It took the beast some time to fully react, enough for Kaiji to bring the next round of commands. For this round, Chris needed only to keep the beast busy. "Got it." Chris said, then brought up a Barrier to cover him in case it was faster than it looked. Then the beast fully woke up and the first thing it did was try to shake Chris off of its face. Well, after a loud roar, of course.

Chris was a bit late in getting off the beast and ended up getting slammed into the ground. Well, Chris was able to land in such a way as to mitigate the damage of the blow some. That and with the layers of protection that he had on him, the damage wasn't all that bad. Still, it would be good to fix that kind of damage in case this battle was to go long. Chris activated his Restore Materia to fix up some up the damage and then gave the monster a quick Aero shot once it showed its face. Chris picked Aero in guessing that its skin classified it as an Earth type monster. However, Chris was still a bit shaken up by the impact and wasn't able to effectively cast either spell to their potential.

Angeles looked over as another creature was coming from the sea. Destroy Midgar, that was something she just wanted to see, stand back and watch the thing slither towards the city and destroy it, she would have to laugh as the President stared agape from his helicopter as Hojo took notes. She stepped back as the soldier moved and watched as lightning hit the sword and caused sever damage. She looked up to see the moogle and hummed slightly in displeasure. Oh well.

She looked over at the Soldier and nodded as he said that she was go with him. She looked around at the others to see what they were doing before running after the Soldier, keeping a decent pace behind him, holding onto her own sword in case the monster decided to shake again, she could stab it into the armor and hold on instead of relying on the Soldier.

Kai caught his battle axe as his spell clashed with another and struck the monster in its vulnerable spot. The creature began to stir as its natural armor cracked and Kai couldn’t help but to lick his lips in anticipation. A red glow overcame his eyes and he flashed the beast a smile. “You might be worthy of me after all, worm.” Kenji caught his attention as he yelled out more orders and ran off down the beast’s back with some woman clad in black. Kai made special note to investigate her later, her scent was far too attractive for him to ignore.

The creature gave a loud wail and caused Kai to focus his attention back on it. The knight smirked and spun Wolf Biel around his head several times. “It seems you know nothing of patience. I admire someone who’s not afraid to die.” He gripped his axe with both hands and folded his wings in, sending his body into a free fall towards the beast. At the last moment he opened his wings and landed on his feet with his axe raised high above his head. He scoffed at Shino’s attempts to wound the monster. “I suggest you move worm. Let the adults handle this.” He rounded off his warning by driving his axe downward at the Colossus’ cracked armor.

Shinoskay was just about to get bored when he heard the higher up SOLDIER running off and he looked around to make sure he wasn't in danger, near him he noted that a few spots seemed to spark with electricity as if struck by lightning recently. As he was about to stand up the stone creature begun to shake itself and he quickly gripped opposite sides of the armor he had been beating on.

When it finished he looked towards the head and saw the man he met at the beach preparing a shield just before the beast charged him. "bad move mage boy," It may be that he was weaker then the rest or that he may very well just be lazy but he couldn't even imagine himself exerting to do such a reckless move as stand in front of the beast, Then a set of legs blocked his view.

Shinoskay looked up in time to see a man who appeared slightly insane looking back down at him, the the insane man spoke. The SOLDIERS casual expression deepened slightly towards annoyance at the statement and he quickly replied, "what i can and cannot do it none of your business." he left it at that, one should not argue in combat.

It was the rush that the warm made that would have actually ended his sentence if he continued even a second longer as suddenly a rush of wind blasted past him and nearly throw him off the beast, how every else was running around and standing was beyond him but he didn't really care, he had not received any new orders yet and so continued to persist at his one spot.

As soon as the beast stopped he again begun to pound his fists down at the location he had been beating since then, he wasn't sure but he thought it had become significantly lower.

The beast underfoot shook as it lunged suddenly and Keihi dropped to grab a hold of the armor. Kaiji cast a narrow glance at Angeles, wondering what game she was playing at. The destruction of Midgar was no small thing. Just losing part of it could send the city into chaos; who knows what would happen to the world if the entire city simply vanished. He almost took the time to indulge the woman, but he decided against it. Now was not the time. That, and any person who dislikes Shin-Ra so much probably has a reason. Again, this was not the time or place. The beast became more stable so he stood and resumed his mission. With a twitch of thought he activated his Libra materia and scanned the beasts armor for another weak point. He barely had to look before he saw it straight ahead, a great tanned area of the beast's body. He took a quick step and cut the top of the monster with his sword, marking the weak area with a long slash.

"Here's the next one," Kaiji yelled over the noise of battle. He pointed at Angeles. "You might as well make yourself useful; help me cut this one up." With that, he picked up his sword to strike down at the creature but was interrupted as the entire world seemed to turn over on itself. The great beast shook it's body violently, jostling everybody who was standing upon it and threatening to throw them to the ground if they were not quick enough to either grab something or tumble back onto it.

The worm bellowed as pulled it's head back and looked down at the little man before him. It's attack barely hit Chris, but that was not enough; it wanted nothing more than to crush the thing and leave it's bones to the earth. A deep rumble filled it's stone belly and filled the air around him. Pain shot through its body and its attention turned to the pitiful creatures that stood upon him and struck him. The beast's deep rumble turned to a threatening growl. It had just tried to dislodge them so there was no point in trying again until he knew it was worth it. Until then, he still had the meat creature to deal with. The Colossus rushed to Chris again, raising its head into the air, only to bring it crashing down at Chris in order to crush him.

--------------------------------

A great distance away the waters of the sea parted and the first Colossus lazily pressed itself onto the shore. Cascades of water fell form its shell and washed the beach away around him. It looked over the lands with its red eyes until they came to fall upon the blight on the land called Midgar. It almost returned to the sea for lack of interest when the strange sound suddenly intensified. It was like a ringing it it's ears, constant and irritating. It growled softly as parts of its body peeled away and formed into six crablike legs that lifted it from the ground and began to walk towards it's target. It had not yet seen the plight of it's brother before him.

"I can think of worse." Chris said in response to the younger SOLDIER's taunt, "Like, say, luring the beast so that you're in its wake." Then the beast made an attempt to shake the four fighters off of its back, and then another attempt to crush Chris. It appeared that it was not completely focused on either task, as not only was it likely everyone would hang on, the beast's slamming attack wasn't fully on target. Chris decided to take what little of the attack actually connected, then stepped back a little bit to give him some room to move against the next attack.

Chris then focused on the leg-positioned Materia, the one that was still active, planted his spear on the ground, and formed a fireball in each hand, then called out, "Incoming Fire Strike!" to warn his teammates that he was going to make a move of his own. Chris then threw a pair of mid-sized fireballs at the monster, one to each of its exposed weak points, hoping to get a good hit on each. After doing so, be picked his spear back up and prepared for a counterattack.

As the beast suddenly shook again Shinoskay smirked, he was still holding on and so it did little to effect him. He did not hear Chris's return statement and would have been confused if he did seeing as he wasn't talking loud enough for any, but the arrogant man whom had totally insulted him, to hear him. He did however hear the "Fire attack" statement made by Chris and looked from Chris to the week point Shinoskay was still holding on to and realized he was in the direct line of fire.

Once the shaking had stopped the SOLDIER quickly gave it one more punch before rolling backwards and gripping the next scale of armor. He then heard some very troubling news, the groan of material grinding against material and the sound of heavy water fall. He looked over to the only he knew in the area and saw a second giant had emerged "SIR!," The young SOLDIER shouted to his superior "WE HAVE TROUBLE, THE SECOND ONES OUT OF THE WATER AND ON THE MOVE!"

he held on and watched as the fire attack struck both week points and then listened for further instructions. He had no idea how tough these things are but if Shin-Ra wanted them down they would have to use more then SOLDIER, they'd have to call in ballistics... the SOLDIER's should really only be used to identify strike points... how hard off IS Shin-Ra.

Angeles followed the Soldier down the body of the legless dragon, stopping momentarily to look up as she heard a noise coming from the ocean. Another creature reared itself from the water and onto the beach. Angeles narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched it begin to move towards the city. As the legless dragon shook she dropped and held onto a piece of the armor, pulling herself back up when it was finished.

“This is strangely similar to somethin that happened to me before,” she murmured, recalling the incident in Kalm, subsequently an image of Baka came to her mind. She had not heard from the boy in a while. She was distracted from her thoughts as the Soldier spoke to her and began attacking a discolored part of the dragon. Angeles reached up and pulled Kiryu from her neck and the elemental wyvern, “Kiryu,” she said to the small creature, “go to Midgar, see if you can hear the same sound that came from Kalm, if you do stay by it, if you don’t come back.”

Kiryu chirped then flew away towards the city and Angeles turned around and moved towards the Soldier She lifted her sword and stabbed it into the discolored area of the dragon’s armor. A materia appeared in the hilt of her sword then she sent her energy through the blade, first activating a blast wave spell to see if she could dislodge any armor, the second a thunder spell, to cause the creature pain and hopefully deter it’s path away from the man on the ground.

The beast looked angrily at Chris and it's eyes glowered down at him. The once yellow eyes now glowered a dangerous orange, like that of a fire. It couldn't tell if it's last attack had hit Chris or not, nor could it tell if it had managed to shake of the troublesome creatures of flesh that plagued him. As it looked ahead he could still see Chris, alive and well. The logical conclusion to the beast was that it had missed entirely. After that, the only logical course of action was to attack again. The beast rushed at Chris again, this time opening its mouth to bite down on the man and crush it to dust. As it approached, Christ threw two fireballs that missed the Colossus' head entirely. The beast paid it no mind and continued it's rush.

The beast then slowed suddenly and stopped a good distance away from Chris. It's excessive roaring quieted, leaving only the silence of the wind raking the tall grass all around. Then came from the creature. It was not threatening or violent, but ratha soft and painful to listen to. It was like the whine of a hurt animal as it licks its wounds and walks away, but the Colossus didn't have that luxury. The beast's cry filled the air softly for a few seconds before it rolled onto it's side and became still. The red Colossus of the earth was no more.

Kaiji let himself slide off the creature's back and walked ten feet away before turning back to look at his team's handiwork. He whistled softly as the saw the two areas, each one cut and blasted into rubble. With this he was certain; he liked these people. Perhaps he didn't see eye to eye with them, especially the woman, but he could respect their strength. Hell, they could probably kill him now if they had a grudge against Shin-Ra. A low rumble in the distance turned Kaiji's eyes towards the ocean, only to see the second Colossus crossing the land at an alarming speed. They still had a bigger problem to deal with and time was wasting.

"All right," Kaiji said aloud to his scattered team. "This one's down, nice job! You are are way better than the crap Shin-Ra usually sets me up with. We've got a moment to breath until the main course gets here. Here's the deal. I don't think we'll be able to stop this one. When it passes by, everybody grab on and climb up. I'll go first and find holes in it's defense. You all cover me and bring the thing down. Until then, any questions?"

Chris braced himself as the monster tried once again to rush at him, but it had not made it all the way before suddenly stopping, it strength and fury slipping away quickly, likely as the team's concerted effort struck the beast where it was most vulnerable. A couple of seconds later, the monster crashed to the ground, unlikely to come back up and strike again.

"Well, that one wasn't too difficult. Maybe Nex was wise to save his strength here." Chris said, and was soon greeted with another bestial roar, and then Kaiji getting preparations made for the next giant monster, which was fast approaching. "Are you sure we can't redirect it in any way?" Chris asked, "Maybe I could use my aircraft and just shoot it, hopefully from far enough that a counterattack would be somewhat difficult."

Chris headed to said aircraft, but saw that Topra was nowhere to be found. "I hope someone else was able to bring her home. I don't have time to worry." Chris said to himself as he hopped into the pilot's seat, started the machine up, and checked to see that his weapon was loaded and ready. Chris pointed towards the lower-ranked SOLDIER, and said, "Upon his request, I've upgraded this thing to go faster. If any of you who can't already fly want to get on, go ahead. I only have room for two passengers, though."

Angeles slid off the monster’s back and landed on the grass. She folded her arms across her chest and looked back at the giant crustacean that was making its way towards Midgar. She then looked back over at the first class who complimented them and told them to rest. She chuckled slightly and said, “I highly doubt that this group was sent by Shinra. In fact, I would wager the third-class and I were the only ones Shinra sent.”

Kiryu had not returned yet. Either he was still looking, or he had indeed found the sound. She was hearing the same distinct ringing in her ears as she had in Kalm, or at least she though it was the same. She filched her Turk PHS from her pocket and opened it up, dialing Baka’s number. She was going to see if the boy had noticed anything strange happening with the animals inside the city.

However, the Soldier did not answer. She waited until the message beep and shut her phone, looking at the crab with a confused expression as she slid her phone back into her pocket, “that’s odd,” she murmured, but she could be wrong. The boy could very well not know how to answer his phone.

She looked over as the man that she recognized was getting into his aircraft and offering two seats to anyone who wanted. Well she could fly, but whether she wanted to reveal that or not was another story. The strange man who smelled dead could fly, the moogle could fly, and she doubted the first-class would accept he offer. That left the third class Soldier to hop in with him. This was turning out to be a very interesting group.

As soon as he stopped shouting what he had noticed the beast he was on began to slump to the side. With a confused look he aimed his face to the front where he noted it seemed down and defeated. He had liked how tough the beasts armor had been so he quickly ran to the wound left from the first week point and slammed his hand into it to tear off as much of the skin as he could.

He was just muscling off the last section of the piece he was pulling when he heard the new orders and the offer for a seat in the seemingly new and improved flier. Within a few seconds Shinoskay thought about this, he didn't want to fly but knew it would be faster traveling and he could save his energy for the next fight. So just after completely tearing a piece of the skin off and gather as much of he broken pieces of armor as he could he put the new supplies away and ran towards Chris. "I'll be the judge of this new improvement, dibs on a seat."

Did you know that L's love donuts?
The beast beneath Kai shook and quivered, a sign the knight took to mean that it was giving up the fight. Almost on cue the giant worm rolled over onto its side and the vampire slid off of its corpse, flaring out his wings to ease his descent to the earth. As he landed he couldn’t help but to rub his ears, there was an annoying ringing sound piercing through the air. “Blast. As soon as this is finished I’m going to decapitate whatever being is making that racket.”

The ringing in his ear was soon joined by enormous sounding footsteps coming from the direction of the ocean. Kai looked off in that direction and easily spotted the second Colossus. “It resembles some form of enormous, armored shark but with legs like those of a spider.” Kai shouldered his axe as the SOLDIER began to spout more instructions for the group. He decided to investigate something that had been bothering him for a while now.

“SOLDIER.” He called out to Kaiji rather bluntly, his voice devoid of any sort of respect. “You said that these monsters have armored hides, I assume you were given this information by your superiors at Shin-Ra. Tell me, how did they learn so much about these beasts, and what else do you know about them?” He moved his axe into a ready position should he need to “persuade” the First Class to share his knowledge with everyone else.
