A jeep might be seen leaving the reconstruction site that was Costa Del Sol. It had arrived a bit earlier, only to drop something off and then head on its way. A little light blue and black blur darted from the departing vehicle towards the closet wall it could get to. Out from around the wall came peeking out what looked like two cat ears, having dark blue fur with green stripes. Following after the ears came a shaggy head of black hair, and a small tan face with dark brown eyes. She would look human if it wasn't for the cat ears poking out of her hair instead of having human ears on the sides of her head. The little cat girl stared in sad awe. She had heard word of Costa Del Sol's destruction, but she hadn't been to the resort town in a number of years. She was having a hard time believing what was right before her eyes. It seemed that construction was underway, though. Ships seemed to be coming and going as they had been before. And people were still doing business out on the streets. The child couldn't tell if spirits were high or low from her hiding place, though. She wondered if the town was in need of help more than she was. She had hoped to find someone who could help her on her trip to the eastern continent. With the way the town was, though, she thought that perhaps everyone would be too busy to care for the random troubles of a traveler. She couldn't in good conscious try to pull anyone away from rebuilding the town. She hoped, though, that she was just over worrying and that the town wasn't in as dire straights as she thought at first glance. It was about noon now. The little girl had experience a fairly hectic morning. She didn't eat breakfast due to all the running she had done when since she woke up. She crawled out from behind the wall, moving on all fours like a cat instead like a human. She did her best to stay away from the people, though. She was shy around humans. Wasn't sure how to interact with them. They were all so different from the only human she truly knew. Just watching people from a distance, she observed, hoping that on the off chance of going about the town that she might see someone friendly. But for now she just looked for the closest place that might be selling food, since now that it was about lunch time for her she needed to make up for not eating breakfast. |

Someone, however, was in a cheerful mood. A jingle of bells accompanied every step as he whistled a tune he borrowed from a fisherman. A white cloak with cat ears fluttered in the sea breeze. A long vermillon leather belt swung to and fro from his back, like a tail. Even the glint in his mismatched eyes showed signs of a mischievous feline. His fair skin was freckled from the sunny weather, mainly around the bridge of his nose and his cheeks, and his hair glinted in the light like a coppery gold. As he reached the destroyed port town, the cheer faded a little. He stopped whistling out of respect, but his steps were more solemn and cautious. Instead of the merry jingling of the bells, they slowed down and sounded a bit more like church bells tolling from the larger bells that made a deeper sound. Still, he would probably be the most cheerful-looking person out of the town - probably the most extravagantly dressed human here, save for traveling performers and the circus. When he asked what had happened to cause such destruction, he was given the reply of a zombie attack, and he gulped and shuddered. He had a fear of monsters, especially the ones who attack him because of the white cloak and the ears that adorn his head - the monsters harass him for his 'delicious looking ears and eyes'. Stalls were still open, and he was glad for that, as that was the sole reason he wanted to venture to Costa Del Sol. The seafood culture - and of course, looking for clues about his dad. He could smell it, and in his functioning ear, hear the sweet sound of sizzling fish meat on a grill. He patted his pants pocket to check for his gil. It felt like the right amount. At least he wasn't robbed by monsters or even humans yet. He bounded over to a nearby stall. "Mister, what do you recommend?" the man with the cat hood inquired. "The baby octopus is good." "I'd rather not get my cloak dirty with ink." "How about a grilled eel, then, kitty?" "I'd like one. Actually, make it two!" he handed over the money. He gratefully took his browned prize that smelled of the sea and bit into it, holding the other skewer in the other hand. It was hot, and he ate more carefully. It burned his sensitive cat's tongue. (NB: Cat's tongue = a saying for a person who cannot eat hot food because it scalds their tongue.) Edited by Naminote, Feb 17 2010, 05:22 AM.

Jingling of bells and sizzling of meats, the smell of cooking sea food and grilling, the little girl hungry enough to be able to taste the smell in the air, so far three of her five senses were pointing her to the direction of the stall. Turning around and altering her path towards the stand, another of her senses was now drawing her. He eyes near instantly picked up the man in the white cloak. He very clearly stood out. Seeing the white cat ears on the head of the figure, the little cat girl blinked a good many times. She had never seen another humanoid with cat parts before. The occasional human, as she resembled them far more than she resembled a leonine. But just like the man stood out because of the cat ears, so did the little cat girl. It was just easy to see that she wasn't human. But then again, perhaps it had more to do with how she moved and acted than how she looked. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she scampered closer, moving on all fours like a leonine would, her tail swishing behind her for balance. Hiding behind anything she could on her way, and avoiding the people in the town, she scenically made her way towards the stand. Almost like she was stalking him as prey, she moved in near silently and stealthily. But her eyes were gentle and in veneration, rather than intent to attack. Quickly enough, she would have tried to end up behind the man, low enough to the ground that maybe he wouldn't notice her. Looking at his leather belt, she had confused it for a vermilion tail. It wasn't a tail obviously up close, but then she thought maybe his cloak was hiding his real tail. She wouldn't bare try to look under, though, as she would consider that a highly rude thing to do. Hopping up onto a stool at the stand that was next to her, she got higher up to look at his ears. There didn't seem to be holes in his hood for ears. Were they attached right to the hood? Not being able to hold herself back any further, the little cat girl timidly reached up, trying to touch the cat ears on the hood. Whether the man had noticed her yet or not, something would give here away pretty clearly now. Her stomach grumbled for food and her nose unconsciously sniffed at the air, picking up the smells of the grill right next to them. She quickly pulled her hand back, hoping he hadn't seen her try to reach for his head from behind him. Turning to look at the grill, she swished her tail, trying to play it off as if she had just come here for food, looking over the selection that they had. He felt as if someone was watching him, but he shrugged it off. It's probably just an unconscious reaction I developed from being stalked by monsters, he thought to himself. It was surprising how fast he ate - in a matter of a minute the whole skewer was licked clean. One probably would not notice how fast he actually ate - once you turned your head to perhaps ask for a little piece of eel, the whole thing was gone. He licked his lips at any remaining sauce that may have lingered around the corners of his mouth. Once he was about to bite into the other skewer of eel, he felt a light touch on his head - lighter than a feather, but playful. He then heard a rumble of a stomach that wasn't his own. The man turned, bells jingling frantically and all, and saw an adorable little girl, with a dark face, a head of black hair and... cat ears. He was pretty impressed by the realism, the fur looked so sleek and glossy, as if she washed them daily. "Hello," he said. His voice was a bit higher than a grown man's voice, but not as shrill as a boy's. Unfortunately, his voice did break in his early teenage years... But it was very anti-climatic, only low enough to differentiate himself from a boy. His classmates snickered at the end result, and mockingly remarked with their manly voices and tall statures, "That's it?" As a gesture from a fellow cat (or a human pretending to be a cat), he held out his hand for her to sniff his scent. He smelled like the smell of yellowed pages of a well-read book, and he had the lingering aroma of eel cooked in a sweet-soy sauce broth on his lips. He then gave her a friendly scratch behind the ears, and was surprised that her ears were actually real and attached to her head. He almost jumped back in shock. He was convinced they were merely a realistic fake, and wasn't expecting to see a cat girl. Moving on, the man remembered that she was hungry, judging by the growl of the stomach that he heard earlier. "Have one, it's really good," he delicately handed over the skewer to the cat girl. "It's cooled down a bit too," he added, just in case other parts of her body were like a cat's. He noticed the tail, the same shade of her ears, swishing around playfully. That is definitely real, he thought, snatching glances at it moving. It was his first time seeing a cat girl, and he hoped that he was taking it well. Edited by Naminote, Feb 25 2010, 04:07 AM.

The little girl blushed lightly as the man greeted her. With her darker skin it might have been hard to tell she was blushing, though. She wasn't sure if the man had felt her touch his ears, or if he had heard her stomach, but either way he had turned to say hello, and the attention embarrassed her a bit. Her eyes, and soon enough her head, slowly turned to look up at the man. She was fairly shy, despite her curious nature. But he had said hello, so it would be rude of her not to say hello back. But as her lips parted, the quivering of her nervous vocal cords betrayed her, and all that slipped out was a little, squeaky, and high pitched, "~Mew.~" Her eyes went wide and her lips shut tight, and her blush might have gotten a little more noticeable. She felt like the combination of a kitten and a little kid whose voice just cracked. But her embarrassment was staved off a bit when the man brought his hand down to her face. She was just a little confused now. Did he think she was entirely a cat? Not realize he was playing around, she did go to sniff his hand. She noted that he smelled nice. She liked books. Read them whenever she got the chance. That train of thought was derailed when he went to scratch her behind her ears, though. Her ears folded down against her head, and what was almost a wince went over her face. Her ears were very sensitive. She didn't really like people touching them. Lowering her head to try to avoid further scratching, her eyes looked up at man. But on her way looking up, there was a skewer of eel. Blinking a few times, she tilted her head curiously at the man. She smiled happily as he offered her the food on a stick. She didn't bring her hands up to take, though. She was far more comfortable with them propping her up on the stool she was on. She had noticed that the man was walking like a biped, but she just figured he was more established into human customs than she was. But she still wanted to gladly take his snack offering. Her tail came around to wrap around the end of the skewer. Her tail was prehensile, and moved muscularly more like a monkey's tail than a cat's tail, despite its outer feline appearance. Gripping onto the grilled food with her tail, she fluidly brought it over to her mouth, and ate it almost as quickly as the man had ate his. She sat up as she chewed, smiling to the man and making a humming "~Mmmm!~" sound. Her tail placed the stick garbage on her stool, and went back to swishing to and fro behind her. |

He watched the girl eat the eel, holding the skewer by her tail. There was no doubt that Hiero was impressed by how she ate. Secretly, he wished for a tail of his own. It might help him some, but he did not mind being a human either. Even if he was regarded as 'ordinary' compared to the multitude of beings that walked the planet, he didn't mind. When she placed the clean skewer on the stool, he corrected her and disposed of it in a nearby bin. "My name is Hiero," he said, pointing to himself. He was not sure if she could understand him, since all her replies were from the sounds of a cat. He hoped that she might understand him. "What brings you here?" he asked simply. "Me... I'm here for the tuna-- I mean, I'm here... to meet up with someone! That is, if he ever appears... also, it's not how you think it is! He's just... eheh. Let's leave it at that." he smiled sheepishly, and scratched the back of his head, ending his grand and tactless ramble. He said a bit too much, and his face was red. It stood out from his fair freckled skin. He looked around the broken scenery. The sky was blue and so was the sea. It was a rather calm day today at the shore. Seagulls cried frantically so early in the afternoon. After all, it was a little past midday. Hiero drove his toes into the ground like a bored and fidgety child, the bells on his boots jingled as he did so. "Sorry to intrude, but where's your dad? I mean, your parents..." It was something he didn't let go of as a child - a habit of asking for the dad, and forgetting about the mother. Of course, his mother died when he was six. He naturally still remembered it, and as he grew older, understood why. His father was the only parent he had. "Aren't they worried you're out by here on your own?" Hiero asked, concerned. |

Blinking a few times as the young man cleaned up after her, the little cat girl looked sheepishly at the nearby trash bin, having missed it before. She was planning on throwing the skewer stick away later, but just wanted to keep her tail free for now. By this point the little girl was realizing that the man wasn't like her. She looked at his belt, and then to his hood. They were just decorations. This man was human. A peculiar one. But still human. The girl's analysis of the man was derailed in her mind when he introduced himself, though. Hiero. That was a nice name. The little girl smiled up at Hiero, but was still too shy to speak up. She was worried that if she even tried to introduce herself back that she would end up meowing again embarrassingly. But she wasn't the only one embarrassed. She tilted her head curiously at Hiero as he tried to explain himself and the person he was waiting for. The little girl had not really had any time to come up with what she was thinking, so she wasn't sure how it couldn't have been what she was thinking Hiero was talking about when she didn't know what Hiero was talking about in the first place. Shaking off the disconnected thoughts, she just giggled a little at Hiero. His blushing and stumbling with words made it easier for her to be comfortable, despite his being a human. He reminded her of someone. Speaking of the devil, Hiero had just asked about that very someone. The little cat girl lowered her head down against the stool she was sitting on. Her eyes deepened with sadness, and she looked out towards the ocean. That the winds and waters seemed so calm eased her mind a little, but she was still troubled. She lifted her right hand out from under herself and pointed out towards the ocean. Her tail also had turned to point towards the ocean, as if synchronized with her hand. "Daddy's lost..." she whispered out, turning her sorrowed gaze back up to Hiero. She couldn't know for sure that her father was on the continent on the other side of the ocean. But she believed it with all her might. Like Heiro, the only parent this little girl had was her father. She had never met her mother, or at the very least the little cat girl couldn't remember her own birth, the only time she was with her mother. "H-H-He's p-probably w-worrying about me..." she quietly nodded to the young man's last question. She looked a little defeated. Not knowing what else to say about the matter, she turned her finger towards herself, "Lily Phoebe Anguiano," she timidly introduced herself. Her tail remained point out at the ocean. |

"Lost?" He looked to the direction of where she pointed - to the sea. It was a rather frightening thought to think about, but him having no idea where his father was and why he was there equally frightened him - not knowing if he was dead or alive. He could sympathize with her deeply, as they were technically stuck in the same boat. Her dad was lost... his was also lost, and both were searching for them. For what reason he was searching, he did it out of sympathy for his grandpa. It's true, he missed his dad... a little. Hiero was sure that he would return whenever he felt like it, very much in the manner of a picky cat. "M-Mah, my..." he cleared his throat a bit. It was hard to speak about this matter which was personal to him. "My dad's also kind of lost..." from his breast-pocket of his coat he drew out a photograph that was a little crumpled at the edges, but was still in good condition. It was the photo of a man - he had blue eyes and the same hair colour Hiero had, though the man in the photograph's hair was dulling out a bit from his old age. A blank smile that did not show his teeth graced his face, and made faint wrinkles in the corner of his eyes and lips. In that photo, he was wearing the same kind of white Seer robes that Hiero wore. "He's completely deaf. I'm only deaf in one ear," he pointed to the ear on the same side of his blue eye. I can't just leave her out here on her own... but she looks like she can take care of herself... better than I can take care of myself. We're both on the same mission, I guess... Hiero pondered a bit as he gazed out to the horizon of the deep blue ocean, watching some seagulls quarrel over a scrap of food. He seemed to be completely mesmerized by this, he forgot what he was thinking about, and made no solution to what he was pondering about. Edited by Naminote, Apr 17 2010, 05:33 AM.
