On ‘Christian’ talk radio the other day, a man called in who aired his personal disbelief’s in all but an absolutely loving, completely merciful, never vengeful God. He said that it was “his feeling”, that God is so loving that anyone who was faithful to seek Him through any faith, any religion, would find Him. If they were raised as Hindu’s, and were good Hindu’s, God would honor that. If they were raised as Buddhists and were good Buddhists, God would honor that. If they were raised as Muslim’s, and were good Muslim’s, God would honor that too. “God’s too merciful”, he said. “God is love.” True friends, God is LOVING – but His love is righteous. God’s Word is clear. He made us for Himself, to be His bride. He regards worship of any other being than Himself as adultery, as fornication of the worst kind. I waited for the host to gently correct this man, but she did not. Perhaps no better versed in scripture than he was, she agreed with the man – and I the spirit in me was inflamed! Does this man really know who Jesus Christ is? Does this talk show host? Do you know who He said He was? John 14:8-10 “Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? John 10:30 “I and the Father are One.” Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” The Son is called Mighty God and the Everlasting Father! Jesus Christ was not just a Holy man, not just the Son of God, but also God the Son! It stands to reason, therefore, that a rejection of Christ is a rejection of God Himself! If you had gone to Buddha and asked him, "Are you the son of Bramah?" he would have said, "My son, you are still in the veil of illusion." If you had gone to Socrates and asked, "Are you Zeus?" he would have laughed at you. If you had gone to Mohammed and asked, "Are you Allah?" he would first have rent his clothes and then cut your head off. If you had asked Confucius, "Are you Heaven?" I think he would have probably replied, "Remarks that are not in accordance with nature are in bad taste." The idea of a great moral teacher saying what Christ said is out of the question. In my opinion, the only person who can say that sort of thing is either God or a complete lunatic suffering from that form of delusion which undermines the whole mind of man…He (Jesus) was never regarded as a mere moral teacher. He did not produce that effect on any of the people who actually met Him. He produced mainly three effects: hatred–terror–adoration. —A Mind Awake: An anthology of C. S. Lewis There is a grave danger for the Christian who comes to believe that there are many paths to God. That danger is this: We’ve been given a commission. Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”. Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” If you buy the many paths to God theory – a Satanically inspired theory indeed, then the Great commission becomes absolutely IRRELEVANT. Saints, we are told to bear much fruit. Matthew 7:19 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” Wake up Christian, we are compassed round about by the Enemy, and he is closing in for the kill. |
