How much I'd like to agree with that position. My problem is that I don't believe God wants us to execute others.

As much as I prefer your solution, I have to side with what I think God wants...

Hi Joe,

I'm still not totally convinced that God wants us not to as a society have Capital punishment...

I've heard it said that we are more civilized now, but I don't necessarily believe that completely and those who founded our nations...well could they have been wrong to set up our nations including Capital punishment?
We keep returning to the constitution and pointing out how our nations were founded on the principles of God and then we want to change the Capital punishment judgement???

This scripture is one that I find myself going back to for more understanding...

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

What is meant by the "law of commandments contained in ordinances"
It isn't saying commandments, but the law of commandments

I would never argue that men without Christ are capable of atrocious, diabolical evil... But Christ in men can change absolutely everything. Can there really still be an argument for Christians murdering wicked men? If so, then the only thing left to do is to let us take that argument to it's final, brutal conclusion.

Prison ministries should cease immediately, the missionaries running them are not only woefully misguided, they are in direct violation of God's law in showing mercy. The wicked people who are incarcerated, found guilty by human judges, should have meted out to them the punishments in the Old Testament. We Christians should immediately begin to actively campaign for the execution of the guilty. Rather than prayer vigils outside the prisons, we should throw rocks over the walls in an attempt to deliver justice ourselves, as the Old Testament might seem to advocate.

We should not confine our pursuit of justice to the prisons. There are no excuses made for children who were law breakers in the Old Testament either. Christians need to band together and find the youth group homes. Stop witnessing to these children, they don't deserve the life of Christ. Those who have shamed their parents must die, and as expeditiously as possible. Christians, bring bats and knives.

What is that, Christian? An abortion clinic! While some Christians mill out front to beseech the pregnant mothers from going in to murder the unborn, we can sneak out back and dispatch every one of them as they leave!

A year after the blood bath begins, how many people do you think would have been gained for Christ? How would this dark world see us expressing Him? Do you REALLY think this is the Way, the Truth, and the Life?

Hi Ray,

Nice to see you back! :)

Your epistle reminds me of John 16:1-3.

I for one support the death penalty. I think that are crimes that needed to punish by death. One of those crimes in my opinion is sexual assault. The United States Supreme court has ruled though the crime of rape, while hideous does not constitute putting an offender to death, I am total disagreement with the high court. I believe that society has the right to live in freedom from fear of certain people.
I know we as Christians would like to believe that the saving grace of Christ can change all lives; the sad reality is it cannot, simply because some people are not interested in God, Jesus or redemption. You have some people who are just evil through and through.
Only three states, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Utah still have the firing squad as means of execution. However most states the standard means of execution is either by lethal injection or the gas chamber. The reason for this I think it is more humane method of execution. With gas or lethal injection, the final moments of death are controlled by a machine.
A human may press a button which starts the procedure, but in the end the last few seconds are controlled by the machine.
I would like to respond to something Ray posted is it wrong to defend yourself or your family from attack? This is a very hard thing to imagine, and I pray to the Lord my God that I am not called to do such a thing (witness the death of my family at the hands of their attackers); but I must unequivocally say that the martyrs who cry out from beneath the throne did just that - they laid down their life for Christ - and they did not fight to keep their life or the lives of their loved ones.
I think that these are two different scenarios, if a man or woman breaks into my home with the intention of harming my wife, and I need to take extreme measures to save her including taking the life of her attacker, then I will. When the attacker leaves my home it will be body bag. I will not set by and let my wife die for no reason.
With those who died for Christ it was completely different scenario, this was not about life and death, those things were trivial in the scheme of the situation. “Christianity was on trial” the very thing that these people held dearer than anything else was on trail.
In Luke 12:11 Jesus gives this warning "But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. There is going to come a day when we like so many of martyr brothers and sisters in Christ, will be called to give an accountant of our faith, but our lord also tells us in the same verse “don’t worry about what to say in your defense, (12) for the holly Sprit will teach you what needs to be said even as you stand there.
In closing we have to remember that we are living a fallen world,
Revelation 21:1-4 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
