First anime: Ranma 1/2, still one of my favorite animes, it is able to be funny but not stupid and be serious when it needs to but doesn't stray from its core personality. watched it all the way through too.

I don't know if this should be considered though since it's one of those "life lesson billion episode for kids" shows. Otherwise, first anime I watched in English was DBZ. First manga I read was Ranma 1/2.

The first ones are "Spirited Away", "Ghost in the Shell"^{full-length movie, 1995}. But of course, TEH FIRST subconsciously watched anime was Pokemon. T_T What a shame...

Knowing that it was an anime, Rurouni Kenshin i guess. But the first anime that i meant to see and watch it from 1st to last episode was Love Hina xD Don't read manga.
