After reading all the rules I made a conclusion: Trying to make it more pro, Lucid made it fucked up, unrealistic, not entertaining, too complicated game of numbers. Enjoy. My offer is still open. |

Unrealistic? I tried to be pretty realistic based on the fact that there are almost no solid facts about nasuverse. Even Fate series is game of numbers to some point - for example Gilgameshes Ea. There aren't that many rules in the end.. Some of them are just for the servant creators so voters and such can skip those. |

Really? I find that the number thing (if strictly followed) balanced some things out by preventing creators to make really cheap Servants. It's really fun as a thinking game because you as a master and a economist thinker will try to ration your limited resources into one fully efficient package. Edit: I get into this shiz too deep too quick Spoiler: click to toggle

Even though I would like a less structured gameplay, I have to admit that Lucid is making a great work. And remember, we must be a happy community: Spoiler: click to toggle :P |

No, the original idea was great. The problem was the balance in the game. That was what made it "not fun". Just because it doesn't fit your idea of how things should work doesn't mean that it is a bad idea. The gameplay is essentially the same while being balanced due to the numbers. Now if you think you can do better, you can host one yourself. But please don't just walk in a thread and criticize what took Grim a long time to think and make. |

Hmm, for once I'll actually have to agree with Mark. I think Lucid went really far with this one. I suppose it is foolish to underestimate a trap's ability to complex things... However, I admire your resolve. I won't do anything to stop this, but I honestly felt like I was reading a D&D chapter when I was going through those rules. If you go any further with this, it will certainly grow into something worthy of a pen and paper RPG - however, you don't have much of a player base for that here. I don't complain about a problem without offering a way to solve it. I think you should create a "mini" edition and an "extended edition". 150 points is crazy, in my opinion. That's a lot of room to build and build and build with no end in site. I think 55 points in on itself was balanced and challenging, because the compactness made it enough so there was enough creative spark and room to create something that was battle-capable out of a historical figure but at the same time nothing crazy/subjective. Also, I know you Lucid. You want to play in this more than you want to host it, and you don't always read gigantic walls of text. If you make it this big, no one is going to want to host it and there will just be more to miss out on and ruin the game which will cause your hardwork to be ruined simply because people will focus on a minor exploited rule that slipped past your eyes (IE: Jad's Buff in the prototype, and that game was much smaller than this one is). I just recommend reducing the point count and not expanding any more than it is. I guarantee you if you kept building it and put the idea on Beast's Lair you will find enough people for a 16 person tournament though, you will get the results you want if you keep building it. I must say I don't think your idea can be supported by this community. You'll always find a couple people who can breeze through the walls of text or get into the RP spirit like me or Rallasner, but there's just not enough of us like that here. It is...not an administrators position to stop something the community created from growing. Though the limits of the community and the opinion of it's people should be considered. Yeah, I was thinking these of things a lot already. I will be probably stopping servant battles here after this one, but will probably continue expanding the wikispace rules. It might go as far as assigning health values and such for servants - we'll see. The mini edition sounds nice. And no, 150 points isn't crazy. It all depends on the costs. I just felt there should be more difference between stat costs and noble phantasm costs and such. Even with this many points nobody placed points to something like divinity. Yes, I do want to play it.. |

I thought so far its great. Not many rules, my char took me less than 10 mins to build though it did take some ironing out, but Caster is pretty complicated compared to the other chars. its 150 points and they go fast. Anything more complicated than this though and it will lose my vote fast, as its reaching its limit as to how much can be structured, rest is up to opinions of the voters. |

Hmmm maybe I should actually check the game out and check the rules True Lucid put a lot of effort in it. Edited by Meroy, Jul 31 2009, 07:23 AM.

I'm sorry but that site is nothing close to overwhelming in terms of reading. You don't have to memorize anything as you can always refer to it whenever you want. You can skim through it the first time and read it more carefully when you want specific numbers. Most of this just gives you references for you to work with during the game. Hell, most of the important stuff are in charts. The numbers aren't there to make things complex, theyr'e there for the players. It offers balance, something that was lacking in the past games. If you noticed, NOTHING has changed from last game. This game is more fair and the only thing that puts that out of balance are the characters themselves. |

The point count sure as hell changed. Anyway, it was more overwhelming at the thought that Lucid compiled all that himself, than the text alone. |
