Archer versus Saber Character Advantages: Damage: Saber Melee Range: Saber Priority: Saber Ranged Attacks: Archer Speed: Saber Health: Same Strategy Be the bone of your sword and withstand pain to create many weapons. Dangers Wait for one's arrival. Matchup Advantage: I haven't had many netplay battles with Saber, but I am curious on how this matchup works for non-casuals. I could notice that 6c is one of the best tools for this fight, as it makes Saber think twice before charging in, specially using 214b, and after the air combo you won't be at melee range. While not at melee range Archer has the advantage as Saber will have to charge in, wich may lead to a counter, or Archer can try to use ranged atacks to stop the charge. The problem of this matchup is that Saber's melee superiority will make you go defensive, and always waiting for a chance to counter or trying to keep her at bay, wich doesen't do much damage at all. Not much, but that's what I could make up from some netplays. Feel free to edit this post, I made this basicaly because I want to know what non-casuals think about this matchup. I'm going to suggest that you make this more informative or people will just ignore it. My 2 cents: 1) There is no way that you are going to stop the approach of a Saber. It's just not possible. A 214c may catch them once, twice if you're lucky. Just harrass her when she charges in, but don't do anything unsafe that allows you to be punished or you'll be eating some sword. 236a from fullscreen will work just fine. 2) 6c is good, but just be aware that you will be punished if it's blocked. I'm uh, not sure how 6cing a 214b is. After the nerf, I'm not quite sure if it will eat the 6c if you time it wrong. 3) Saber can still 214b your 236a I think. So don't do it at mid-range. 4) Don't try to "fend her out". Don't forget that you're pretty melee reliant too. Not to mention that it will just simply not work and you'll be punished for trying to do so. Like you said, sit in her distance and wait for her to mess up. |

How about Archers: Counter Unique Acts. (usefull VS 1hit specials) Tigerknee shots 2369A/B and 632147A (and their combo which imposible in netplay). (Avoid+attack) Also I think: "Priority: Saber" is wrong. As I know Archer HAS tons of good setups and counter moves (dash B is best to counter everithing that slower than normal attack). Also He has Two sided Throws. It would be usefull to use them in close combat to make outwall combos. ALSO I never liked Archer because big part of his strenght is in chain counter>combo (which is hard to do in netplay). So if Saber try to abuse someting... Edited by Hidan, Sep 3 2009, 01:52 PM.
