Hello Sonia, To start painting with wax, Naomi needs 3 basic things...... 1. A small, DRY (no steam holes), iron with a thermostat. 2. Some of the wax paints - these blocks are 90p each from myself 3. Some small pieces of commercial, white, glossy card. Turn the iron to a low heat (where the wax just melts but hardly runs at all) and melt some wax on upturned iron. Transfer the wax colour to the card by smoothing without pressing at all. The wax dries (sets) almost as soon as the iron is removed BUT wax is almost infinitely reworkable, at any time!, just by reheating; so touching the iron back on to the wax on the card remelts it and because the wax sits on the coating (instead of sinking in as it would on uncoated paper/card) it can move whenever it's liquid. Any remelting with the iron will instantly create new, unique effects - it's these fantastic effects that we all enjoy and use in our pictures. That'll do for a start. |
