Just a thought for all crafters. Craft supplies needn't cost a fortune! Over the years I have come accross some great ideas for substitute crafting materials. Try £1 shops for felt pens, decorative scissors, parchment paper, glitter gell, white card, hair bobbles (make good embellishments), fine cuticle scissors for (parchment/decoupage) eye shaddows (chalking) hair spray(sealing the chalk) double sided tape and foam squares. AND MORE!!! There are even plastic wallets to keep your paper, card & stuff in @ 6 or 10 for £1 !!!!!!!! The suff in these kind of shops is brilliant value and can be used to good effect. Keep looking. Market stalls often sell bits and bobs; we have one that sells tools and also d/sided tape for 50p !! There are also stalls that sell beautiful fancy/ shiny/pearlised card packs (10 or 20) for £1 or £1-50p . Also try Factory paper outlets shops, they sell boxes of paper and card for as little as £6-00. We have a local one, just opened, that sell this and also 10 sheets of paper for 40p (pearlised) or 10 sheets of card for 45p! One of my best tips is for stencils!! Did you know that some plastic air freasheners have wonderful cutwork on the front!!!! Jus wait (if you can) till it has finished and the smelly shrunk and then cut the front panel out and use it as a dry embossing stencil, or under a light source box (or make your own light box from a cheap torch and a glass fram over two supports!!) When buying the air freasheners, they are often covered by the peel off packaging, (supermarket ones are cheaper and have better patterns) some have different patterns. all you do then is feel the pattern through the peel off paper. YOU WILL NEVER SEE AIR FREASHNERS IN THE SAME LIGHT AGAIN. You can also buy wrapping paper to cut into teabag aquares and iris folding strips, much better choice of patterns and much cheaper. Also Florist' ribbon makes excellent embellishments. AND IRIS FOLDING STRIPS!!!! These are just a tip of what I can offer you to make your crafts both more exciting and cheaper Have fun! Poppy. |
