Sharon, you said you wanted to make small scrap books for each year of Kyra's life. Cut 3 x A4 sheets of acid free card and link them together with ribbon using acid free adhesive to form a zig zag folded booklet. This will give you enough pages to fill in for Kyra's milestone achievements during her first 6 months / year. You can back the card front and back with suitable acid free paper but, remember to stick some ribbon at the edges of first and last cover before adding backing paper, long enough to tie around it to keep contents safe. (Thread the ribbon through a slit in the paper to take it to the right side for tying).

I made one for Jake like this. On every inside page I made little envelop pockets to hold precious things, like his baby cot card, and hospital bracelet. his scan photo and his first photo. The envelops were made of Vellum parchment, thin enough to see through but sturdy enough to hold things in. If you place them on an angle they will not only look decorative , but will hold everything safely.

I punched out little hands and feet and also trains and animals to decorate the pages. I also found some baby words peel offs in white, sayings like, precious baby and tiny toes etc. I photocopied his birth certificate to put in one of the envelop pockets. I wrote his name in gold caligraphy and finished off with tiny hands and feet and also ribbon bunnies on the front (you can buy this from habadashery stalls per yard/metre).

I also wrote to go inside an envelop pocket some journaling, so he would have my actual handwriting and included a photo of him and my husband and me, for when we are no longer around. In this I wrote how I felt the moment he was born, Like I felt I was going to burst with pride! How I felt I knew him already, who he looked like and who he reminded me of at birth. This is a wonderful first keepsake book that I made for him. I have since added more volumes to go with this. Also, this is one of the projects I teach to my students, A Book of Me!

Hope you find this useful. Poppy.

:D Thank you Poppy :) I had thought that I was going to have to give up on the idea as I could only find big scrapbooks and they weren't very nice but this is perfect (I can find a nice big one for the rest of my photo's lol)
