If you want more control over where you place your stamped images, try this; Place your wooden mounted stamp in the microwave for a few seconds on low/medium, depending on microwave. Try low at first!!! When it comes out of the microwave it will peel off its wooden mount. Pop it back for a few seconds more if it doesn't peel off the first time. You can then stick it to a clear acetate block mount with a pritt stick. You will now be able to see where you are placing the image to lessen the chance of making mistakes. Poppy. |

Thank you for that, I find it frustrating when using a small stamp which is mounted on a big bit of wood. Sharon |

That's a great tip for unmounting your stamps.. but if you want a great way to use and reuse your stamps.. Try umounting them and then mounting them on EZ Mount Foam. It's an easier way to have your stamps and they are easy to store then too!
I have over 2000 rubber stamps and I have unmounted all of them. I am about 200 away from having them all mounted on EZ Mount foam.

I have heard of this mounting foam. The old wooden backed stamps are cumbersome and heavy to carry, crafters are on the move more nowadays so we need lghtweight stamps.Poppy.

Yes, Jenny, so long as you don't press too hard that's fine. But acrylic mounting blocks are better and more sturdy and don't rock. They start from about £2.for small ones and £4 for the large ones. Any glue stick is fine to use.Poppy.

Ages ago, like 2 years, I bought some of the 12" scrapbook boarder stamps, they are blocks of 4 sides with 12" long stamps on them? The retail price was £16-99 each, but I think I got them half price, or I must have had sun stroke to pay that much???LOL! Well I never did use them, so last night, being bored and couldn't sleep I decided to take another look at these stamps. I peeled them off from the rubber block and realised I could cut them into sections as they were repeted designs and cut deeply, so they'd make a crisp image when stamped. One wedding one with ribbons and bows was in 2 halfs, so only got 2 of that one. Result. loads and loads of rubber stamps to stamp with??? There are loads of beautiful flowers and other things. All I do is use pritt stick to stick them onto acrylic mounts to stamp with! Poppy

Microwaved stamps! Good idea as one I ordered was skew wiff ( not straight!), I had an awful job to peel it off and straighten it up. If I had bought locally I would have seen the problem!Hope it wasn't your wobbly scissors you used Poppy! No doubt you're having a fab time today demonstrating, looking forward to reading all about it.

No I saved my wobble cut scissors for other things. Jo The rubber cuts really good with small sharp scisors. The trick is to not leave much of a margin around the image so that you don't get an edge to the stamp. Poppy

I spent yesterday afternoon doing this to all my wood mounted stamps and have now put them all in plastic cd cases, like the ones from cd stamps and have put them all in a wooden cd stand that was going to waste. So now I have more room in my drawers and a fabulous array of cd style stamps. |

Are CD cases really strong enough to mount them on and use? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? I ask mearly because CD cases are always breaking on me cause they are so brittle. Surely pressing down on them is just asking for trouble!!!!! |

Puss, I got a set of 3 acrylic mounting blocks from The Works for £3-99p, that's a FANTASTIC price for these, as the exact same pack was £7-99 in Partners stationary store. The biggest block is A6 , the middle block was half that size (A7) and the smallest block (A8) was 1/4 the size of the A6. So they take all sizes of stamps. Just put then stamps onto the block with a bit of pritt style glue stick to hold and wash and dry well when finished. Poppy

I noticed there were blocks and stamps in the Banana Book shop, I must investigate further, as I have some stamps I would like to try on acrylic. |
