It doesn't happen often but, I'm speechless. You have a real gift for this. I have a comment on pink beach though: TIDAL WAVE! :D
I love the delicacy you have achieved in the details of the flowers.
Fibers is out of the top drawer, my favourite so far, BUT I like them all.
Yeah I know if that's speechless you'd hate to see me when I've got something to say :rlol: :rlol:

'Fibres' is ASTONISHINGLY good! Must have taken AGES to do. You got such a fine touch with the wax, which is not easy when new to E/A, and you should be extremely proud of yourself! The beach one has a style which is very distinctive and 'you'. We will all soon be able to tell a 'Mardar' just by looking at it. The wizard reminded me of a similar one I did ages ago. I love that 'strange-figure-standing-in-light' kind of picture. Really good fantasy! The flower study is very delicate and you got a lovely sheen to the wax.

Honestly......looking at these, anyone would think you have been waxing for ages, rather than just beginning! Well done! Maria x

Wow! For once I'm in the majority! :r More Fibre in my diet, please, Mardar ;) I'm staggered by how quickly you've reached the level you have! I still haven't touched the brush tip yet :r

Thank you everyone. :ta:  Fiber only took a few minutes to make. I was trying the brush out and just started brushing the card to see how the ink flowed. It was very much like using oil paint. You just want to lightly brush the card and then I lifted it slightly as I pulled my stroke. I think I may have found my favorite tip. The brush!!

Thank you Maria for all your comments. It really makes me feel like I am getting somewhere. The fantasy I just had to try after seeing your lovely fantasy. It was the hardest one to do, and I wasn't pleased with the way I got it constructed, but it was a learning experiance and thats what counts. The beach was the same way, I struggled with it a bit, but I will get better. I learn something with each painting. I have done oil painting years ago and it is very similar at times and very different at others. The hardest part is getting use to the bulk of the stylus. I am a light touch with a brush, but this is a lot bulkier. The Flower study is much more vibrant in real life. I added gold wax to my colors and it just shines in daylight.

Thanks again to everyone for your encouragement and kind words. And a really big THANK YOU must go out to Steve for introducing me to this wonderful new art form. :nw: :nw: :nw:

I'm absolutely thrilled that you're having so much fun, Mardar

I also have to watch myself with the stylus :) I'm so used to watercolour brushes that I often start doing one thing and end up with something entirely different :r It's great fun, though! :big)

I think part of my problem is the cord on the stylus. It drags at my hand. I may have to set up a way to secure the cords over head to make the drag less. I also need very badly to devise a way to lay my stylus down where I don't bump into it. I burned myself again last evening. :r This is becoming a dangerous sport. :r Nothing serious but it does hurt. All in all though I am having a wonderful time.

I was thinking about using the self-adhesive Velcro or maybe (much cheaper :D ) a big rubber band to hang my stylus by. Some just make a simple cradle for it to lie on but that means being all technical :r I suppose you could make one out of a wire coat hanger  I work on a board on my lap so I have the cable coming up over the back of that. Some loop the cable round their arm but I can't get on with that :(

:congrats: , Mardar, for these wonderful pictures.
The beach scene and the Fiber one are my favs :thumbup;

I know what you mean by have a bit of trouble with the brush. Try squeezing the wires a bit flat so it resembles more a fan. (it's best to do this when the brush is cold.... :r :r ). That way you will have a wide and a narrow part to work with.

I usually hold the cord in my non-painting hand, together with the wax I'm using.
In my former professional life I worked in a laboratory and we were taught to hold 7 things at one time... :rlol: :rlol:

Good luck!

I read a tip whereby you tape a pencil to the edge of the table you are working on and lay the stylus by that when not in use. The pencil stops it from rolling off the table. Also, my hubby suggested buying one of those soldering iron (coiled) rests you can get to sit the stylus in so it's upright. I wish the flex was a bit longer on my stylus, then you could wrap it round your arm to keep it out of the way, like you can do with the iron. Not used the brush tip much. Found I couldn't get on with it, but Thea's tip of squeezing the wires out is one I will try! Maria x

Marder you've been very productive
I love the soucerer. The study of the flowers is something I have to do as well ;)
I love the lively coulors you used in the beach.
And the fibers......... In one word: fantastic!!!!!!!

I've tried the brush just once (it's on my gallery), next time I'll use it the way Thea adviced (thanks for the tip Thea).
