Just registered at Photobucket and want to see if I can insert an image with this post: If it works: this is my first fantasy pic, inspired by Maria! It's made on parchment and can be glued into a cone shape to serve as a tea light shade. Thea Apparently it didn't....

That is beautiful. It has taken me all night to get my photo in. Hopefully I have it in my signature. Here goes nothing. I will have to do some serious thinking about learning this art. |

Maybe that art form would calm me down. Bad day with the folks has me up and sleepless in Iowa. Wasn't there a similar named movie?

Thea, I am honuoured that you felt inspired by my work! This is really wonderful, and a great idea to make it into something such as this. I'd worry about it all melting under the light (if you were to use it as a shade) though. Love the dragon, but is it me or is there a witch on a broomstick too? Maria x |

Gotta dive in on this one...... If it's printed on to parchment/vellum/tracing paper the back lighting from the tea light should do it justice. The paper shade should be constructed to keep it away from the flame . Possibly if Thea does not mind, Mardar (who is queen of graphics) could make this into a screen type shape which then stands on its own in front of the tea light. I printed one of Mardar's oriental screens onto parchment because the light quality was 'lost' on paper. It takes a little while longer to dry but the results were amazing!

Well done, Thea! And a beautiful piece, too! I would have thought that a tea light was low enough temperature to not be a problem? Of course, it's nice and draughty here so I guess that keeps the temperature down

Thank you all so much for your comments I forgot to add (with all the stress over getting the picture in my post ) that the dragon is a stamped one. I waxed over it later, because I found it too faint.I did not see the witch, Maria . Perhaps if I set the image on fire she will fly out Don't worry about the temperature of the candle melting the image. I put one directly in it, it burned at least an hour and nothing happened, except that my husband got a fit But if I sell them I add a little votive glass with a tea light, so that's totally safe. Mardar, if you want to use the image of course you're free to do so. I would be most honoured Jenny, what setting do you use for your printer if you print on parchment? I had the same idea but was unsure if it would work. With warm greetings to you all, Thea P.s. I added some more so you can see how they look when glued into shape.

Don't know if it's the same one as Maria's, Thea, but I can see a witch hiding near the top to the left, or part of one, anyway
We usually print at the standard "text" setting. Too much ink tends to risk smudging The parchment print is absolutely beautiful, too
Of course, it may be worth trying a stronger setting for images with paler colours, or if you have to enlarge an image it can be worth trying a photo setting with Digital Camera correction selected.Steve |

Absolutely beautiful. I've seen parchment work before for this idea, but it is so lovely in encaustic art. Super idea to scan and print it too.

Thea Those are just beautiful. I wish you had a gallery button so we could see more of your work in a larger scale. The picture here is so small I don't think I could get a good graphic made from it. Did you also make the oriental picture in your picture? She is just lovely. I love all things asian in design. Your designs are all lovely.

Just wrote a novel to you all and lost it during the processing time Well, I'll try to get it together again Mardar, if you send me your email address by PM I will send you the higher resolution scanned version for you to work with. My Photobucket does not have enough pictures for a Gallery yet: have to do some copying later. The oriental picture was made for me by a Japanese lady as I was teaching her English while we lived in Yokohama (yes, me teaching English: in the land of the blind..... )Steve, I started out with double sided sticky tape, but some became undone so I punched in two little staples Thanks for the printing info! Have to run now! Thea |
