Been doodling a bit today. The first one is positively creepy! This face just was 'there'! Stuff of Nightmares! ![]() Then I did a little landscape, because I'd not done one in ages. In Amongst The Bullrushes ![]() And of course...couldn't go without a dragon or three! First Solo Flight ![]() Maria x |

You surprise me, Jenny ![]() Beautiful work, Maria! I love the bullrushes
I thought I detected a dragon on a ledge in the first, waiting to launch itself, or perhaps just resting - it's small but visible
Need I say anything about the dragons? Superb as usual ![]() Steve |

Wow Maria, I think this is the first landscape I see of you. It's wonderful The colors in the sky and the reflection of it in the lake and the plants in front Your dragons are faboulus; love how mum and dad are watching their little one. (Have you seen the shooting star in the background?) |

Thanks. Steve....there were no intended dragons in the landscape (though I guess one could have escaped from another painting....I tell you..they ARE breeding!
Heidi....thanks for your comments. I just wanted to prove that I do ocassionally paint something other than fantasy I sold a lot of landscapes at the craft fair and to be honest, I need to re-stock for the next one! I was pleased with this one!Jenny.....Is there some sort of therapy for dragon addiction? Maria x |

Wonderful work as always Maria! You'll be getting known as the Dragon lady, but we'll reserve that title for someone else in another country, won't we??? Or is that being cruel to Dragon's. Poppy.

Maria, there is no known cure for dragon addiction, except perhaps self control Have you read the Dragonrider books by Anne McCaffrey, that's where mine started in earnest. Poppy, you cannot refer to HER as Dragonlady 1) because dragons are nice and 2) SHE isn't a lady. I have great trouble supporting St.George as our patron saint, the swine!

Jenny....not read that one (is now on my to-do list) but I guess the first dragon that made me go WOW has to be the great Smaug! Tolkien did it best, though I also have a fondness for T.H White's 'Questing Beast' in The Once and Future King (brilliant book if you haven't already read it!) who got depressed to the point of near death when Sir Pellinore retired from hunting him, only recovering when the knight decided he couldn't live with himself if the beast died because of him. Thus they carried on, Pellinore hunting, the Questing Beast running, both deliriously happy! Maria x (PS...bags I the painting for that story!

Don't know how to break this to you Maria, but, it's not one book. It's around OMG I've just counted them.....14 plus two short stories in compilations. I love these books, and find that some of the philosphies (sp) spill over into 'real' life whilst reading them. If you are serious about reading them you start with Dragonflight. |

Maria your dragons are just great. I love the idea of the Mom and Dad watching out for the little one. Your landscape is just stunning. You are so good at detail. Something that is hard for me at the moment. And the first one is just awesome! I love the rich colors and the darkness of it. Great as always.

Mardar, that first one was one I started at the fair on Saturday and it went hideously wrong at the time, so I put it away. All I did was to add some more colour and mess it up.....and that happened! I just scribed round his teeth!
Funny how the wax has such a mind of it's own sometimes! Maria x

Maybe when life settles down with the folks and work. I think I need time to really learn this medium. After working 54 hours and taking care of mom for at least that long, I don't have much spare time and Thanksgiving is coming fast. But one of these days....
