I'm off this morning to teach a class of 10 ladies how to do Tea bag folding. Quite a challenge as I'm self taught, but armed with wonderful tiles, some made by Craftboard members, I'm very hopeful we will produce some lovely cards.
We have a break for lunch and then an afternoon session too, it has taken me hours of preparation, but came together last night (eventually!). I began to wonder what I had let myself into!

I'll log on tonight and tell you whether I never want to see another teabag or not! :groan

Good luck Jo.
Funny cos I am teaching Tea Bags today in my class as well.
I'm doing the Double Malteese, Dahlia fold and Large Flower fold.
Tea bags can be tricky, sometimes the students get it SO quickly and then sometimes they take ages to catch on. Hence the 3 folds. It'll confuse them no doubt. But i just wanted to show the difference and variations available.

Poppy, is it kind to give them three folds to muddle? :r

I just enjoy letting them choose which one to do, they find it SO hard. We invented a new fold today!!!! A clover fold.

:thumbup; to the teachers of the world~ Well I guess I am alittle biased. I love getting ready for teaching a quilt class. When I start it is just getting the sample ready then it starts the process of step by step and so on. I think when the student gets "it" and looks at me and says "I did it" is the best feeling in the world. Have fun ladies and Good Luck. :nw:

I survived! Aching back, sore feet but happy. A lovely dinner and a couple of glasses of red wine and I can relax and think that's it over. Well for another year they want to learn more! I ended up with 11 people, so was one kit short but gave the organiser the sample I was demonstrating on and she finished that! That's one lesson I have learned make up a spare kit!
The ladies were great and I did the kite, square, triangular and zigzag folds. I showed them a zigzag fold and how toi do the butterfly and sent them home to complete them. I will add a photo of some of the cards they made. One lady had tried it before but otherwise complete novices. First lesson over, I had a great time and was paid! I heard some say "I could get addicted to this!" and told her yes she could!
:r

Some of the cards made today :-

Those are lovely Jo, you taught them well.
The clover is a punched 6 petal shape. Fold 2 petals over at the top, crease down the centre, open up, turn over and fold into the centre fold, the point is at the top. It comes out layered 3 petals per fold. You need 4 of them for a rosette. It looks like a 3 layered clover.
Will post an image in my gallery tomorrow.

Image is now posted in my papercrafts and card gallery.

:ta: :ta: Poppy. I will be waiting for the instructions. They sound really neat. I have my DIL interested now in tea bags. She saw my beginner ones and loved the idea of so many different cards and designs. I even saw a quilt idea that would be neat with paper so I am going to give that one a try too. I know the students had a wonderful time. You are a great teacher. :congrats:

Thank you all for the nice comments. Teaching is very different from just playing at your dining room table! But all the class felt that they had learned a lot and were happy with the cards so that made me feel I 'd taught them the basics. Some want to learn more and I've been asked to do do another class next year - more advanced! :r

I should have added also I'm looking forward to seeing the folds Poppy described. None of my books have a Double Maltese or a clover mentioned, so this new teacher is learning all the time!

The Clover is my adaptation Jo. The Double Maltese is the squashed triangle fold but with wings folded uo and slotted together in two layers. I have been out today but will get one posted here soooooon!
Poppy.

I have at last got the tea bag folded cards in my gallery.
In my Card gallery you will see the Clover fold, an adaptation of a similar fold. And also the Double Maltese Cross Fold in the tea bag technique.
There is also a Quilling Poppies card.
