I did have a chance to quickly scan 10 Christmas cards before I drop them off at the local Art Gallery. They have a fundraiser going, where they sell handcrafted Christmas cards (half of the proceeds go to the Gallery, the other half is for the artist). So please have a look in my Encaustic Gallery. I'm sure they will be snapped up really quickly, I've never seen the candle aperture cards before and they are stunning with the EA work. I liked the other candle ones too. Good idea that both you and the gallery benefit.

You already know that I like the aperture candles
The other candles have a wonderful "glassy" look ![]() Could Jenny pinch the idea and the pattern for the apertures? We don't have any cards with that, and they look so good! Steve |

Steve, the aperture idea is from a card I bought about 7 years ago at a Craft Fair in Germany. I took the original picture out (forgot what it was :ph43r: ) and used it with one my first Encaustic images. It looked quite good and that was my Christmas card for that year to all of our friends. I scanned it and had it printed with "Season's Greetings". You and Jenny are very welcome to use it. That goes for everyone here of course! If you do need a bigger file, just let me know. Thea P.S. I do not really understand what you mean by "glass reflections" Terry , but I could post a small tutorial on how to do the candle here, if there is any interest. |

Hi - in the second pic (with 2 candles) the green one especially - the glass holder somehow looks like thick glass and the light is refracting through it, so it changes the background light and makes the glass appear darker (no idea what I'm blabbering on about). If this makes any sense and you have time (no rush though) I'd be interested to know how you did it.

Whatever you said Terry, was what we meant Thea. It looks as though the blue and green candls are in votives and you have achieved a wonderful 'lit from within' effect.

See what you mean. Those candles are painted with the iron, but turned with the tip towards me and I used the right angle, if you see what I mean Quite difficult to explain I will try to upload some pics as how I did it. Thea |

A tutorial sounds great, Thea If you do one, perhaps you could post it to the Members Only area of Waxing Brighter? Steve |
