Rubber Stamps; Ideas please!

I was so enthusiastic at first and kept buying stamps. I have loads for Christmas and used them. But it is my everyday ones that I fail with.
My favourite is a Rennie MacIntosh style rose. I need something to get me going again, something more than plain stamping - any stampers with any ideas would be most welcome. I have several coloured stamp pads and embossing powder but my mind is blank!

So I lay down a challenge to Craftboard members - please find me a site with great ideas or suggest something stunning to lift me from this slump! :uhoh: :faint: :uhoh:

Do you ever use watercolour pencils to "colour in" the stamped images after embossing, Jo? :)

Steve :)

No I don't Steve. I did see Poppy suggestion in a nother topic about using STAZONE (said in a deep voice courtesy of Alan and marry!) :r

I do have water colour pencils but I'm useless at painting! :groan
Well I was told I was at school so I believed the teacher! :kb:
Perhaps I should try!

I'm not good at painting either, but with the water colour pencils I've had a confidence boost. You just need the smallest amount of water to move the colour about and mute the colour. You NEED STAZON because it's waterproof. The pecils can change the stamp quite dramatically. At Christmas I also used wax crayons to colour a stamp.
Jo you can also use stazon to stamp on encastic card and wax over the image, the experts will have to dive in here.
Give it a go.

Jo have you tried stamping Renee Macintosh Roses with clear ink and the smudging chalk over the area? That gives a different look to the stamped cards.
Or you could try stamping onto mulberry paper and fringing the edges. Eithe coloured ink, or resist and chalk.
Staxon is great for stamping on mirrors, why not stamp on 1" mirrors and colour then mount 3 onto a card, cut out the apertures from the from so that the mirrors show through from the back page?
Hope this helps?
Poppy.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'm a bit puzzled about the mirrors though? I've never seen 1" mirrors anywhere. I don't often use chalks so will have a go. :ta:

You can get them from Hobbycraft or craft shops. They come in little sizes, maybe the B and Q might have them. They are like mosiac mirrror tiles. Just experiment with everything.

 Hi Jo, you might get some inspiration from the following links which I think are very good. Also the Craftstamper magazine is a good buy from Smith's, I used to subscribe to that not sure when the next one is due out though ;)

Hope I am allowed to put these links here - Steve? :)

Willow, you are a star. The Dyan's link has some fantastic techniqiues on it. I'm gonna try the shaving foam one, and the wire word one.
Must check the others out.

As an additional wotsit, in my goody bag, mentioned elsewhere, was a pot of silver pearl embossing powder. I was sceptical as to how this would be different, but, I used a pink ink pad and the effect after heating was lovely. Will try it on other colours and report back.

Hello Jo

I only had 2 stamps and really didnt know what to do with them but a good friend of mine sent me some for my birthday(no nmaes mentioned POPPY) :r

i DIDNT HAVE ANY INK PADS.......had a think and painted calligraphy ink on stamp, they were ok and i used the glitter gel pens to colour them in

Then i thought about what else i could use other than ink,of which i already had an painted on watercolour paint(whatever colour i wanted, whole pallet to choose)
and then painted in with watercolours, making it not look like a stamp anymore(i think)
here is what it looks like

It's not hard honest

I had a look at house mouse stamps Dianne and they have some lovely ones. I've never been brave enough to order from USA though because of problems with tax. Look forward to seeing some of your finished cards.
