For those who do not already use online storage for their pictures You need to decide whether you wish to build a gallery of the pictures you intend to show. If you do, then you will need to sign up to an online service which offers albums. The one most used is Photobucket. This is because it's very easy to use, including creating separate albums for different subjects. Other services do exist, however. If you don't want to build a collection, however, it's easier to use a service like ImageShack, which stores your pictures but doesn't display in an album format. There is a link to allow quick uploading of a single picture to ImageShack at the bottom of the board (above the banners), which also appears on the post entry pages! For those who do use online storage You will find it most convenient to have the site you store your pictures on open while posting. You can use direct linking for each image but do be aware that if your site has bandwidth limits, then that will be affected by posting here, and there may be times when your pictures don't appear in posts. Preparing pictures Before uploading to anywhere on the internet, it's worth remembering some basics. The larger the image, or file size, the slower the loading time. By resizing to a maximum dimension of 700 pixels on the longest side and saving (to a new name) as a JPG/jpeg at 85% quallity, at 72 dpi, you will make the picture a better display size and reduce the file size! This does reduce quality but if you wish to share higher quality versions, this can be done privately by email. Also, seriously consider watermarking your pictures if you wish to preserve your rights! Putting pictures in posts Once your pictures are safely stored online, you can include them in your posts here. There are two methods, though they have the same results. Some services, such as Photobucket, provide forum-ready tags (addresses) for the full size picture, while others, like ImageShack do the same for clickable thumbnails of the pictures. Simply put, you need to copy and paste* these forum-ready addresses from the service to your post. If, however, you don't have access to a forum-ready tag, you must copy the one provided by the service, go to your post, click on the IMG button, paste the tag into the box, and click OK/press Enter. Your post should then contain a line similar to:
ImageShack gives several options, including two for including thumbnails. Please ensure that you use the correct tag, for either the thumbnail or the full size picture! If in doubt, Preview your post first, before closing ImageShack (or whatever service you use). Steve  * Just in case  To copy, right click on the box containing the tag/address you want, click on Copy. To paste, go to the exact position you want the picture to appear, right click there and then click on Paste. If you accidentally click on Cut in the first part, don't worry, just carry on and do the pasting as usual - it hasn't really gone anywhere

Thank you Steve, although I do have photobucket it has helped me know what to do to solve a problem I had trying to load photos onto Ciao! I must make them smaller and save under a different name.  I bow down to your genius and superiority in all things computerish!
