Pictures In A Hurry; For exhibition today!

I haven't painted much lately as time has been at a premium but several weeks ago I booked 4 names into a local exhibition. Today was handing in day and on looking through my pictures, found that I only had 2 that vaguely matched any of the 4 names.
The 2 unmatched names were "Springwood" and "Ice Castles".
This morning's work was painting these 2 and framing them; they're hanging in Earls Colne village hall now ready for the preview tonight.
Anyone watercolouring or oiling (or even acrylicing, for that matter) would face problems that we waxers don't have on these occassions!

I love that woodland scene one Barry.

As for doing them in a "hurry" ( short time span ;) )
-- isnt that the beauty of wax :)

Best of luck with the exhibition

:thumbup; Two stunning pics Barry - and both so different. How ever did you do the first one in a morning - did you get up at 1.30am or something :blink:

The woodland detail is amazing and very beautiful, as is the perfect perspective.

You'll have everyone spellbound tonight, I'm sure :thumbup;

:sold: :sold: :sold:

Love :wave: x

The woodland detail is amazing and very beautiful, as is the perfect perspective.

An A4 like that usually takes me about 2 hours nowadays. Because it's all done with the iron, it's quite quick (and also very easy to make BIG mistakes).
I was quite pleased with the perspective which is helped along by the use of white in the background to give that mistiness (Thanks to Ros, who recently showed us a Lovely Bluebell Wood scene, making use of that very process.)
Most of my similar works on the old EA and the new EI sites, used very little white and allowed great detail even into the far reaches of my woods.
The mistiness was helped along by an almost-final process of hotair/tissue-dabbing at the top.
The final act was to put back in the foreground-tree-trunk-tops so that they were no longer "misty".

Immediate reaction: :o Wow! :o What an incredible woodland scene that is! :art: :nw: And your explanation is superb, too :thumbup; I love the second too, of course, but the very thought of doing the woodland with just the iron.... :eek: :D

:ta: thanks for the explanation Barry - yes I can see now how the white+hotair gives the misty background. Having said that, you really are the master of these enchanted forests......... :thumbup;

Love :wave: x really must think about getting a hotairthingy...

Good luck anyhow...I'm sure these will soon have :sold: on them!

When i get time, perhaps I'll do one of these in stages and scan each stage so that you can see how things develop.
(This could be part of a keep-fit regime as I work downstairs and scanner etc is upstairs! - I reckon you would want about 15-20 stages to see everything happening sensibly!)

Now THERE'S a good idea (makes mental note to take all computer stuff upstairs) for a summer fitness program! I can just see your work-out video, Barry....

'Wax-2-3...upstairs-2-3...lift-2-3...scan-2-3....and down again...come on chaps...get those knees higher...and again...lift that iron-2-3....)

Instant hit! :lol:
