Hi Jinny. What an excellent piece. The stand really looks like it's made of sterling silver. If you used the iron clean underneath the card, like a mini hotplate, might that help the 'hit or miss' nature of the lifting? Perhaps using a clean crumpled up piece of absorbant paper to remove the excess wax.. Just an idea.. No idea if it might work.. so please don't ruin a good piece with that as an idea. (I'll try it next time I'm waxing) x Col! P.S Love the new avatar. It makes replying like using a videophone.

Hmmm,, trying to think of some suggestions.... ideas only - not sure whether any of these will give the effect you want - could try putting addtional wax onto iron and then doing "stroking" effect rather than dabbing. maybe remove some of the dabbed effects first. i also find i get different effects when i use a different iron,, i like my big old one. another way might be to add individual areas of wax with the stylus and then just touch them with the iron - i like the effects that gives sometimes. good luck |

Jinny That is fantastic, I love it! It is lovely and mystical as it is.The only suggestion I would give you if you really want to create a rounded ball effect is to layer it? By this I mean, do the background all over, then on seperate piece of card, bend it into the iron and pull the iron over it so it looks bevelled and curved, use the kind of colours you used for the ball as before. Then cut out a perfect circle of the ball and gently bend over a rounded object to achieve desired curved rounded shape. Use double sided spacer tape to stick into place, but not too near the edges. Then for something really special instead of drawing the stand, use filigree silver peel off stickers and make a stand. This will cost you an extra 70p because you'd have to faff about on a piece of spare card to get the filigree stickers in the perfect place for the stand, practise this firstly, but it will be worth it. There would be NO OTHER card like it. You could then charge accordingly. (peel off filigree stickers, try corner filigree ones, will make about 10 stands). Good luck Jinny. Poppy

Good idea Poppy But i did think this morning i would do crystal ball and stand in wax and then cut it out to foam pad that to an already pre waxed a6 card.i figured it would look cleaner and you woud'nt be able to see the marks of me trying to iron round the ball itself.....but i have to say i like your idea Will keep you posted

Hi jinny, as poppy said you could make the card 3d, paint the ball and stand on one piece of card, cut out and mount on foam pads, the back ground card could be the same shades of purple only a little darker, and the ball could have that wonderfull opal white wax with the lighter purple shades running through it. Its a beautiful card.... so many possibilites to make a range in the same theme.magz |

This is stunning - what a brill idea - really effective. Only another suggestion - you could take the wax to the edges of the ball with the stylus and - carefully - scratch a way any hard eges with the scraper to merge. (No, I don't know what I'm talking about either) Wouldn't have noticed you dabbed after, if you hadn't have said. Well, how do you feel after refreshing your browser
Isn't it nice seeing everyone (well, getting there...) Luv x

Wonderful Jinny. Try the filigree peel offs for extra sparkle on the next one. The ball looks like opal. Well done. Poppy

I love them both Jinny and glad you figured it out as I have NO ideas on these. They are so unique and bet they sell quickly. I really like how your imagination 'spills over' til you get what you're after. Best wishes. Verlie
