Hi all - if only we could all sit around munching on blackberries all day eh?
Dorothy is A5 - and the usual iron, stylus and wirebrushthingy (which is now a frazzled mess) Thinking about it - blackberries are only out in the autumn - but somehow think with the weather we've had - spring has been cancelled this year??? Love x

That is really really very special Terry. Well done you! It's incredible the way that you've created the amazing contrast between Dottie and the background, the textures are so vibrant it looks almost photo-realistic. The superb choice of colours also lends a really nice spring-like feel to the pic. I really think you're on to a winner with this series. They're adorable. I reckon that if sold, they'd become real collectors pieces. :mw::mw: x A very impressed Col! |

I love the contrast of the colours! And who cares if blackberries are autumnal fruits? They look good enough to eat from where I am sitting! Maria x |

Thanks ever so much Catherine and Di - I've only cultivated this patience thing when doing waxpics - I not like that with anything else
Apart from the big mosaics - this took the longest and my eyes are still goggled But if I'd even attempted it in watercolour or oil (perish the thought) it'd have taken a hundred times longer methinks.... Love x

I like the idea of the nest of blue-*careful!*. We have some building in our box right outside the window where I am sitting and they come and feed from the feeder only about 4 ft from the window and look in at me. Such lovely little birds! They raised 4 chicks last year, so hopefully they will be as successful this time. We give names to all our birds too. We have a semi-tame blackbird we call Juliet, naturally, her mate is called Romeo and they have been back to our garden for 4 years now and raise about 3 clutches of youngsters each year. Then there are our doves, Arthur and Guinevere who have already had one chick so far this year and our thrush Tweeter, who heralds the beginning and end of each day, sitting on top of the poplar tree singing his little heart out! We even had an owl in the garden one night last year and the woodpeckers have very loud arguments with the magpies! It's brilliant! Maria x it won't let me have the words bluetits!

Thanks ever so much Bev and Ros - I really do appreciate that Hi M - hope to start my nest of bluecarefuls tomorrow. If ever your camera gets it's act together - I'd love to see a photo of the babies.... We've got magpies, and the usual robins, and that - but nothing as exotic as you... we had a pair of collared doves sitting on our telephone line for months and then they came back with a huge and rather bedraggled looking "baby" then we never saw them again - and I felt sure they jut come to show us how proud they were.... I was thinking of putting up bird boxes (and a bumble bee box) but we have a lot of visiting cats - so not sure. Love x

A good friend of mine has semi-wild parakeets that visit his garden. They've been released from cages in homes around the borough apparently.. Please bear in mind, he lives in Bromley, South London, so that's rather odd. When he first mentioned them I thought, yeah, right! Who are you trying to kid... But I was round there for dinner a few weeks ago, and there they were, bright green crested parakeets as large as life.. I'll see if I can grab a few shots of them next time, as they really do look kinda weird perched there eating peanuts from a squirrel-proof feeder. x Col! |

The weirdest 'bird' experience I ever had was a couple of years ago on holiday in Cornwall. We were driving from Penzance to Lands End and I took a wrong turn and had to go turn round. Just as I got round, this peacock flew down, feathers everywhere and calmly walked down the road in front of me! Talk about a shock! It finally got out of the way and we headed off for Cornish pasties for lunch! Maria x |

Hi Poppy - Oh, if Jake does do one, can we see it here??? Col - I think (again - courtesy of Bill Oddie) the parakeets nest at the Oval (would that make sense) there are 2 theories how they got there - can't remember first and second is a Rock star (?) let a couple of his out in the 70's and they just bred. Hi M - crikey - that must have been an amazing but pretty scary sight
Hi Catherine - Love x
