Hi all. I've been a little quiet on the old wax front recently, but I recently created these three tree themed ATC's for Jinny's swap. I really wanted to post them here for all to have a look at, as any feedback is always welcome. Silver Birch ![]() Created without a stylus, using just the very tip of the iron, and a very steady hand. This is my personal favourite. The effect looks like solder to me. Art Deco ![]() Again, no stylus, but a really nice thick bark, and I think I've solved my floating tree problem Scratchy ![]() My first attempt at scratching away at the wax. An experiment, which I'm quite happy with. Let me know what you think,.. x Col! |

What size are they? My personal fave is the first one, but they are all good. I also like the colour combination of the second one...reminds me of Clarice Cliff a bit. Just goes to show what you can achieve when you keep it simple! Maria x |

Hi Col - the first is absolutely inspirational 3-D suble colours and your usual trendy style, the second has lovely colours and - you're right- almost Art Deco and the third is really beautiful with those shimmering colours. You've definately got a style of your own here - can't wait to see what you can do with the stylus (when you get it) - that must have been soooo difficult just with the iron Well done you. Love x

Thank you all for your wonderful comments ![]() Maria They're 'playing card size' - apart from Scratchy which is 3.5" by 2.5" (which I believe is still an ok size for ATC's, but did look a little big) Silver Birch was the last one I did, and I must say that I'll be using that effect again as I think it's really pretty. Thanks for your comments on Art Deco, I didin't really mean to use CC's colours, but I agree, that they are similar. Ros As Catherine has mentioned, ATC's are Artists Trading Cards, something I'd never heard of until Jinny mentioned them to me. These were my first ATC's, and I can see that creating them can become quite addictive. Come and join us in the next swap, I'm sure you'll find it interesting and refreshing. I scratched away all of the white from the tree, but tried to leave indentations in the card to simulate bark. The effect is prety subtle, but quite nice. Jinny Oh bless. Thanks for that.. It was great fun (if a little stressful) and I really like the cards I received back. Thanks also for the extra card you included, such a sweet thought. I'll be drinking a glass if Lilt later on and basking if the totally tropical glow coming from your card! Terry Inspirational... The birch effect I'll definately be doing again.. I hereby claim the effect as my own
and as for trendy, thanks for the not so veilled compliment..
I used to know what trendy was.. but alas, I'm entering the realm of slippers and staying in instead of going out.. I will try and get myself a stylus, as I really do enjoy 'tipwork' (my new word for using the tip like that)
Bev Thank you so much for your comments, I've just found out that the Americans call it soder, so I hope it translates when or if they see it. I must admit, when I first tried to use the metallics I couldn't really see how I could use them at all, but I think this is the way! x Col! |

Colin You have to get a stylus, waxing with the iron and using the tip of the iron is one thing, but when you atert to use the stylus plus the tips you can get to go with it,that is another! I find that using the stylus for some pieces of art work is very relaxing, when you get one,try doing the dots.....very addictive and theraputic Plus it opens up a whole new world to what can be done with the wax!!!Hope you have signed up for the next swap |

Really Poppy? No, I didn't know that... It's an interesting observation though... Oh my, am I giving away secrets without even knowing it?
I just think they look 'right' that way... personally. Anyway, be careful what you wish for... I might have a tonne of them lying around x Col! |

Oh thanks for that Sylvia. I too got one of yours (trees 2-3) which is also very beautiful indeed. It's really nice to get a 'hands on' with other peoples work, isn't it. Being able to see the subtle details is really nice. I'm glad you were able to see it 'in the flesh' before reading this thread, as the surprise element is half of the fun. Col! |
