Well, those of you using Internet Explorer or its derivatives, or Firefox, now have a built-in, automatic spell checker :thumbup; It will check your spelling as you type and if it detects a possible error, underline it and offer options including suggesting a word, opening the dictionary, or adding the word (if it's spelt correctly) to your own dictionary :D It comes from Jacuba and is an external scripted process, so there may be times when it is a little sluggish (unlikely) or not available (also unlikely) :)

Catherine, I'm retrying this in Firefox at the moment ;) and it still allows smilies to be added :thumbup; Sometimes it puts them a bit further off than expected and if you are clicking on the smilie you have to click back on the box to get the cursor back - a small bug I'll mention to the creators ;) I'm about to recheck in IE ;)

This is done in IE ;) This seems a bit more of a nuisance :( If you click on the Show All link at the bottom of the smilies, then it will allow you to click on the smilie there and place it in the right place  Again, I'll include details of that in my contact with Jacuba :) BTW, in IE, if you hover the cursor over a smilie, it puts the code up at the bottom left, like
Code:

javascript:emoticon(':groan')
so you can see that the bit between the ' and ' - e.g.
Code:

:groan
- is all you need to put a smilie in place ;) Unfortunately, it also switches off the buttons above the box, so I'll do some more experimenting

Steve :)

Fixed the problem with IE now, Catherine :yip: :r

OOOO heck, posts without emoticons , now that's a recipe for disaster!!! Remember a certain forum when we all re interpreted post by others!!!! We need those to remind people that we are only joking when we post our little jokes???? It could be ww3 without them. I am being spell checked as i write this.  Must have started with me first???
No i cannot get smilies as well.   (:'r')

Forgot to say thanks for the spell check, it is brilliant.

I'm hoping the problem is fixed now  Please try using Ctrl F5 to force a proper reload. If that still doesn't work, let me know and I'll have to take the spell check off

Does this mean we all have everything we should have now? :D I hope so :r

Jinny, have you checked your time settings? If your posts are wrong by an hour, you haven't told your profile that BST has started and if the clock up top is wrong, then you haven't told your computer to adjust automatically for BST ;)

Jennie, nothing should be clicking unless your browser is refreshing too often

If the spell checker is more trouble than it's worth, then do please let me know and I can soon dispose of it ;)

Oh thank heavens !!!! I had trouble all last night making pm's? They would come up and as soon as I spelt something wrong, it would stop , i'd be still typing and nothing on screen, then it would crash back to the thread. Steve I think the spell checker gave up on me a long time before you got rid of it??? :r :r :r
Thanks for trying Steve anyway.
