It has been suggested that there are times when some of us would dearly love to get some honest advice on a particular picture
My most recent one is a case in point Now, it's very warming and consoling to get positive feedback, as we all know, but sometimes we're not happy with what we've produced and we just can't see why or how to fix it.That said, we don't want every picture being critiqued!! So, how do we indicate that we really do want some helpful advice? There is a very simple way:1. In the "Topic Description", put "Suggestions please!" or 2. At the end of your post, include "Suggestions Please!" If we see that, we know that we can look a bit closer and, if we can, offer any helpful tips/suggestions that we consider reasonable All in the knowledge that we're not doing something we shouldn't

No way, Poppy!
I'm just hoping to get close to losing my L Plates before I get too much older I suspect some others may also have their "pictures of dubious success" they'd like a fresh take on

Hi Poppy
I think the prob They had was the word critique - who wants criticism (albeit it gentle R us) - but I know sometimes I get so far with a pic and it's just not right at all and I run out of ideas - and I'd quite like to see what other's suggest before binning it (only to re-appear three months later as a moscaic abstract
)So putting suggestions please can be put ONLY when someone wants ideas. If it's not put - then if someone doesn't like a pic - they just don't comment... I know exactly what you mean though with other sites. We're all too lovely here though eh ![]() Bottom of my diary quotes the other day Somerset Maughan..."they ask me for criticism, but they really only want praise" or to put it another way (just made this up) "does my (posterior) look big in this" "Dunno - you've eclipsed all the light coming in the window" love x

(only my humble opinion here) (me - humble hahahahah)We're such a nice bunch -I bet no one would come forward an announce they were the experienced ones....and it's not so much just to get tutoring - but it'd be fun to see what more constructive views you'd get if you actually put it forward as an "ask". I reckon we could just see how it goes - and if (bet we don't) we get any probls, iron them out then (just thought of that pun too - must be springfever getting into my bonce) What d'you reckon.... after all - if no one wants any ideas - then they don't put "any suggestions" cos generally we all just like showing the finished pic and don't want a Brian Sewell candid in-depth review anyway
love x

I was thinking of quite a few experienced waxers we have on here Terry. Even if we don't actually realise it, there are some brilliant waxers here? I admire all the different styles this thread throws at us. But yes you are right those ones I am thinking of would never think of themselves as being quaified to comment on other's works. Poppy

To music......Memories, like the corners of my mind.....music fades....(very dark dusty corners at that)
Ooooh the good old days - when backgrounds were backgrounds - and painters and crafters were two totally different nationalities - apparently according to the Gospel of G - and good ol' hunnychops - my - things have moved on since then eh... who can forget the day one member almost electrocuted himself - on purpose..... (sorry to all newcomers who think I've lost my marble (singular) - just reminiscing on when we were all at nursery school (kind of seemed like that) clicks back to reality.......Talking of good old days - anyone remember Jubblies, or Twizzle, or french skipping (definately skipping) - or anything else I've forgotten......
Love x You OK Justjen????

I remember red Jublies for staining your mouth so badly it looked like you'd been in a fight... Here,.. have my last jubbly. (oh, and escape-to-the-seventies is another fun site, similar to TV.Cream (which always used to be one of my fave sites Steve!) I really really want another bottle of Quatro, and to find a hidden stash of 'All Sauce' which was a bit like ketchup, slightly mixed with the tanginess of branston pickle sauce,.. Mmm x Col! |

Steve - thank goodness for that - no one had head of Twizzle - never thought of looking on net - oh bless - I'm off later to have a proper look.My imagination's running riot - what is the secret of the Jubbly, The Reunion - then Hey Col - yes - that's it!!! How my mind wanders back to when I was little - 15 years ago........... the red one was Jungle Juice and it gave me asthma every time I had one (funny cos I wasn't asthmatic at the time
)Must have a look at the 70's site leg warmers, men's shirts with little pictures all over them and Harry Hill collars - I had an affro - I think I've got a pic somewhere - and huge bell bottoms Anyone else got pics of themselves in the 70's
