Hi all!

An unusual one this,..

Here's what is currently a 'work in progress' of something that started out as nothing more than a doodle with the stylus, and has progressed on to something I really like.

Now, this has presented a problem. As I said, I really like it, but there's a good half of the piece that hasn't been touched yet, and I'm at a loss of what to put in there.

Here's where I'd like your help. Can you suggest something that would fit into that empty space.

I've 'blown-up' a small section, so you can see in more detail, the effect of the gradient, and it's pretty likely that I'll continue painting whatever is to go in the space in the same sort of technique.

It's an A6 sealed white card, and I'm open to any suggestions...

So can anyone suggest how I might finish this piece?

Now that you've developed the lovely curve, I think I'd like to see the rest filled in with a spiral of colours, toning down as they approach the centre which should end up the same colour (but lighter hue) as the blue at the top

Hmmm tricky one - love the oil painting texture - and seeing the close up you can imagine the same textures being transposed on the lower part - as Barry is saying...

Can I go away and think for a while

Interesting Barry (and Steve)

That's a really nice idea actually,.. it would fit nicely with what's there already as well.

I can't wait to see what other things people come up with as well though,..

I'm glad you both like it at this stage as well though,.

And Terry

Of course you can,.. I'm not going to rush into making any changes,.. :)

I like Barry's idea too! Whatever you decide to do, it's going to be great. I love the colour combination you've chosen too. Can't wait to see the finished picture!

:blush: Thanks Maria

The colours are a lot more vivid in real life,.. I really like the contrast from a cold palette to a really hot one. Possibly a little unconventional, but I think it works quite nicely.

WOW Col :eek:

What a great piece so far, once again the textures and gradients are brill.

I have no idea what could go below but Barry's suggestion is excellent (and he is the man :D ).

It definatley has an 'Earth, Wind and Fire' feel about it though.

Can't wait to see the end result.

Looks great Col,,

Barry's suggestion is definitely one way to go,, the other thing that came to my mind was to have a large planet appearing.

Good luck

Wonderful work Colin, I like Barry's suggestion too.
But I will add mine, if it is possible and seeing as you did this with a stylus I think it could be, how about doing a mirror image on the bottom as a reflection???? Going lighter blue in the centre and fading back out with the reflected colours???? :art: :sold:

Could also stay as an abstract with a centre circle emcompassing the colours in the close up sample with darker brown and reddy brown encircling that....almost like a section of sky has dropped out of the sky (eh) and embedded in the ground :blink: :thumbup;

Tell you what I would do though - take any ideas that take your fancy - and roughly cold crayon them on a separate piece of copy paper, and put them up to the design - then you can judge and not spoil your original pic :thumbup;

:ice: Thanks everyone,.. I hoped this would go this way :ice:

It's really interesting seeing different peoples approaches to this,.. and there have been some really lovely suggestions! :ta:

I hope you all don't think it cheeky of me asking, it's just reading everyones take on the pic is a really refreshing breath of fresh air and hopefully interesting for all as well.

I'm still undecided at the moment, but cannot wait to let you all see the finished result!
(and indeed, see it myself! :))

John
Thanks! - I'm really happy with it, but I really want to finish it. I've not heard any EWF, so might go and check them out for inspiration :r

Ros
Yes, I thought of that too,.. but didn't feel that confident in getting the details right. It would allow some cool colour mixing though, so I might go that route.

Jen
Now that's an interesting idea,.. As the horizon is curved, the (probably) sunflower could be reaching for the sunlight, almost like it's caught by a fish-eye lense.. Hmm, interesting! :thumbup;

Poppy
Oh yes Poppy, mirroring wouldn't be a problem at all, and that tecnhinque would offer itself to wattery wavey reflections as well... Again, and interesting suggestion.

Terry
Oooh, deep man! A nice idea,... perhaps I could add a hole where the sky fell in to the top as well... Hmm. - Re: crayoning first,.. Agree totally, if you look closely, you can see a few marks on the image where I've done exactly that! I really don't want to ruin what could be the nicest thing I've done (IMHO)
