It's my father-in-law's 90th birthday next Friday so I painted this for him. He's fanatical about cricket so hopefully he'll like this!

90 Not Out (A5)

Posted Image

Then I have been working on one of the two pictures that my American lady commissioned. She wants one of two mermaids, one a redhead and one with black hair, to give to her friend for her birthday. This is the first one I have done...I may do others of a similar theme so that she has a choice like last time.

The Mermaid's Song

Again, it's A5.

:o How lovely Maria :o

Yet so very different. '90, not out' is great, really nicely done and quite humorous. I'm sure he'll be bowled over,.. :groan

I love the hair and faces on 'Mermaid's Song' as well,.. and the way that the darker colour sets them off is wonderful.

Hi M - 90 not out is fantastic - your dad in law is going to be over the moon with this. Every little detail is perfect and that green is just typical of an English summer's day (not in Kent I understand :lol: - hosepipe ban :lol: )

All the little shadows, the dragonflies - yep - it'll definately make his day very special indeed :nw:

Do think the darkness of the mermaids is lovely and the reflective blues are just magical...another happy customer I reckon..

Love x :wave:

You never cease to amaze me Maria. :eek:

90 Not Out is fantastic....it's hard to believe it's done in wax
:thumbup;

You really do get a 'deep blue' feeling about mermaids song with the coral and shimmering light...it's a masterpiece.

Well done Maria! :mw:

Excellent work Maria - 90 Not Out is brilliant!!! Really like the effect you got with that, you're father-in-law is going to be over the moon!

Nice mermaids too, really got the underwater feel, and nice composition.

Great work :thumbup;

fantastic pics maria, do you scratch the blue away before painting on the mermaids hair? I love both pics, im sure the cricket would go down very well with your father in law! :art:

I scrathc away a little, Catherine, just as a guideline really. It really depends on the colour of the hair....the black just went on, but I scratched out before putting the red/brown in, if that makes sense.

The lady in question now wants a large red dragon!!! We can afford pudding this week as well then! :lol:
