Cheers Ros and not a bit of green in site (apart from the palm tree)The feathery effect - I used the stylus with the brush tool and just spread/fanned out the head a bit. I drew a line with the brush sideways to get a thinnish line then I just teased out the paint with the fanned out bit. I was quite happy with the effect Thanks for your comments Ros Cheers John

Both are Fantastic John,.. The azure blue of the second one really reminds me of warmer places, and how effective are the palm fronds! Superb! You've chosen a brilliant colour scheme for both,.. the mountains really look moutainous! Top class! x Col! |

Both are really good. Your mountains look, as Colin said, just as they ought to and one's eye is taken into the picture. My fave though is the second one. That palm tree is just wonderfully life-like! The brush is the one tool that I find difficult....just have not been able to get on with it at all...yet! There's still time! I'm still wondering whether you've been having us all on though, because you are so good at it that no-one would believe you are a beginner! Well done! Maria x |

Why Thank You very much everyone. I am really happy with the way the seond one turned out...I was a bag of nerves when I started on the first leaf though :D. You can't see it in the picture but the sand was done with a pearlescent white and gold and it turned out quite well. As Maria said to me in another thread, everyone has their own style so I think I've found mine and that may be the path and type of pics that I will do and try and work on that. |

It's great that you have found your style, John! I tried painting in others' style before....never works (at least not for me) and felt all wrong. You will be more relaxed painting how you want to paint, and your work will come on in leaps and bounds now! Maria x |

They are both lovely. The palm leaves are so beautifully worked, you can almost feel them. Could do with the sunshine here, it's guy dreich as they say in Scotland! |

Thank you again Maria: I did really enjoy doing that one and felt comfortable with the brush head so you'll be seeing a few of these Terry: 50p!!!! I can't aford that Jo145: I love Scotland, me and Jan spent a few weeks in a gorgeous cottage on the banks of Loch Ness last year and we keep saying we'll go back. We saw a lot of the highlands while we where there, we saw dolphins, whales, sealions...it was fantastic. Oh..and thanks for the nice comments Cheers all John |

Your palm tree scene is brilliant, looks like an advert for a holiday brochure. Definitely my fave of the two. |

Great work, John As you asked for suggestions, I say that if you do more palms, it's worth giving the trunk more of a bend toward the edge, and some indication of ringmarks around it
I like them both but the palm wins for making me feel a little warmer Steve
