Still working up to better detail :) There is more detail, and more colour in the original but resizing has eliminated quite a bit of it :(

WOW :eek: and :eek: again A3...I can hardly say it never mind have a go at doing one.

Well done Steve...it really looks 3d....the perspective is very good.

I love the way it fades as you get further away.

I like this one a lot and would say it is your best to date.

Good on yer :thumbup;

A3 does present some extra challenges, like actually manipulating the card :groan (forgot about the box/table edge trick :blush: ), but the scope is so much greater and it's much easier to get detail :thumbup; Some of the techniques are much easier to use, too :D

There, and I thought you womenfolk were all for perpetuating the concept that "size doesn't matter"! :r :r

There's no danger of me sticking to one size :lol: I can't afford to do too many big pics ;)

We're waiting to see some more of your creations, Jinny :D

:thumbup; Well done, that man!

I knew all it would take is a little confidence in yourself! I love the misty mountains and the way your eye kind of meanders towards them. Pity we can't see all the finer details, because I know they are there...there is so much more scope when working this size to put more in!

Excellent work!

(I'm still waiting for an A3 fantasy from you though! :P )

:ta: Maria :) Great trepidation at first, looking at that huge swathe of white card :r But I'd got myself all worked up to go for it ;)

I should have mentioned that I used the iron, a hairdryer, and the stylus (with the brush tip and the pen tip) :thumbup; Oddly, I think there was less wasted wax on this than A6, but then Barry made that observation when we picked up the card :D Had to be careful when blowing the wax around, as my board is only just bigger than A3 :r :r

I may try a fantasy pic, but I have to have some inspiration hit me first ;)

And all with only two burns :r

:thumbup; Brilliant, brilliant pic Steve :thumbup; Your best ever........it's going to look stunning framed.....

I love the icy feel and the mountains are just how you'd see them through mistly ultracold air.

Very atmospheric and beautifully painted :thumbup;

Love x :wave:

Simply Stunning Steve!

I have nowhere big enough to work on something of that size, though the thought of it boggles my little brain. I love the way the colours desaturate as they reach the horizon, giving a really nice depth of field quality.

Can't you post a link to the bigger picture if you have it, so we can choose to see it in greater detail if we want?

Anyway, Well done on such a brilliant achievement... Hat's off to you.. :art:

I'll try to sort something out for a larger version, Col :thumbup; If you lack space, you might find my solution useful :D I have a board that's a bit over A3, made of half inch thick box wood (ply with a thick inner layer) that was an offcut :) You can often pick bits up from wood merchants or carpenters for free or very little money :thumbup;

Ros - A2 doesn't just frighten me, I've got a good excuse to not go that large : my board won't take it :r

Sylvia - In fact, there's so much less wastage at this size (as the iron rarely overlaps the edges), I think it actually works out as far more economical than the equivalent area of card in A6 chunks ;)

This is great Steve. love the colours in the mountains. A3! :thumbup; Would like to have a go at that myself, but have a stack of a4 paper suitable for encaustic, which was given to me by a friend in the printing trade, so can't really justify buying more paper yet! Never mind. .......one day :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

:ta: Di :) I would think that you've got full justification for buying larger sheets, as you didn't have to buy the other :r :r
