ok, so Ive got my self a couple of small stamps, a brown pigment pad and some clear embossing powder and Ive had a go at that, now, Id like to do some of that watermarking so I need a clear inkpad, whats the best sort to get? and how much should I be paying.....also can I use that with gold and silver embossing powder, or do I need gold and silver ink pads? doh!
and which do you prefere, acrylic blocks with the unmounted type of stamps, that you glue on with glue stick, the magnetic type or just good old wooden stamps? got a few bids on ebay, eeeekk I can see this is gonna take up some more space!

Some bits I do know, Catherine
Clear ink can be used for any colour embossing powder - including clear
As to type of stamp, that's a ma. The magnetic ones means space conservation without needing glue So, the unmounted stamps can be stored in things like CD cases and then mounted to order, on acrylic/magnetic mounts. The wooden take up lots of space but feel nice and the actual stamp is a bit better protected from damage.Prices are Jenny's department ![]() Steve

Did anyone tell you this gets expensive as well as needing lots of room! You end up buying too many stamps, and I find I don't use some very often, whereas I use others lots! When you are embossing the powder is the finished colour so you don't need the coloured ink pad, just a pigment based ink. So if you have a colour you hate you can change it to whatever powder you use. Similarily if you have a beautiful pigment ink - I have a lovely Paintbox with metallic colours but need to use a clear powder to get the varigated finish. Does that make sense? Wghen I started I bought that pad and thought I could just stamp, but it never dried and smudged, so use the right ink for the job you are doing. Most of my stamps are wood, as the CD type hadn't come in. I have a couple of acrylic, and a screw on handle that fits 2 stamps which I bought at a craft fair and have never seen more of since! I'm having a phase of stamping again and enjoying it. You may find this site helpful, on the otherhand some of the things are beyond me just pick and choose and have fun. I take it you have a heat tool?I have a small Versamark pad , but don't often do the watermarking. Just play and have fun and you'll find what you like most. |

OOOhhhh Catherine Now you have started you won't want to stop collecting the ole stamps Ok watermarking........you need a clear inkpad but better still you want a versamark inkpad..........not cheap but very good pad!!!!i paid £4.80 for mine its not just for doing the watermarking you can use it as a regular ink pad ie embossing on and you dont need to buy a gold or silver ink pad as you can use any colour ink pad and add gold or silver over the top to heat emboss!!!!There are no end of things you can do with stamps .....i have just been playing with the colour chalks ,stamps and versapad Have fun Ohhhh i like all stamps but the ones that are easier on my pocket are the best ones!!!!! i have some rubber images and have mounted them myself,so that was a cheap way for a bigger stamp!!!!!ok have fun Jinny xxxxxPs are you joining in the jinnybag swap.....its a good way to get different craFT ITEMS FOR THE PRICE OF A COUPPLE OF POSTAGE STAMPS!!!!!!! |
