Hi everyone   have loved reading about all your nests and baby birds (how are they all doing???)

Here I am, in the heart of the Devon countryside - and all I have is ant's nests :groan - ( lovely little things, but not exactly appealing  )

So I waxpicced a nest of my own.....

Nearly A4'ish and only used stylus and mini iron attachment this time.

Have a lovely weekend (anyone doing anything nice???)

Love x  (can you spot the feather - I have it framed in my bedroom - spooky story - will tell another time.....)

What can I say Terry,..

Awesome as usual.

My fave is the little one on the far left, his open mouth is so lifelike, you can almost hear the racket he's making!

The detail in the plumage is brilliant, and the nest itself is wonderfully tactile. I also love the way you've quite deliberately left some bits plainer, to focus your eye on what counts.

How you can capture as much life in the eyes is beyond me as well, the reflections are perfect.

Superb in fact!

Col!

Hi everyone - and thanks so much for the lovely comments :ta:

Catherine - :thumbup; thanks for that
Jin - Bill Oddie better hurry up then - if birds are flying nest now - what are they going to film (isn't it a bit late this year?)
Jo - that's quite funny isn't it - bet outsiders are wondering what we're on about "bluecarefuls" ;)
Steve - yes - I know people like that too - me in fact at my next dental appointment....
Col - strange what one white dot can do eh - :ta: I've left a small part of all the Spingwatch pics like that cos I just love the weird patterns you get with wax while building the pic up....
Boasey - I still find the amazing effects and colour blends that seem to just appear with wax quite something......you never get bored....

Love x

Fantastic! You have captured them perfectly! :nw:

A quick update on our babies.....loads this year!

Our bluetits are on their second family now. The first were very early and fledged a few weeks ago. Now I think that there are more hatchlings in the nesting box as the parents are back and forth repeatedly.

Our doves (Arthur and Guinevere) have also had two lots of babies. The first fledged at the beginning of spring and now they are proud parents of two more chicks. They are now residing in our lilac trees and are so trusting that they don't even fly away if you approach them! Emily has christened them 'Wobble' and 'Bottom' for some reason!

The award for cutest baby though has to go to our blackbird's offspring. They lost their first clutch of eggs to Digger, our squirrel, but moved on and raised another chick. This one we called 'Bob' since that is what he does! He has no tail yet and the other day sat right in the middle of our lawn all afternoon getting soaked in the rain waiting for mum to come and feed him! SO SWEET! :o

Thrushes had two chicks as well... Fred and George (you can tell Emily is a Harry Potter fan!) they have now flown the nest.

That's it really, though I also heard a cuckoo yesterday! Summer is upon us soon!

As for the weekend....tis me birfday!

Have a goodun, everyone!

Thanks Mif - much appreciated...

You are soooo lucky having all this wildlife - out of interest - do you have cats - I just thought I'm birdless as Willow is enough to frighten a laid back vulture.....

Are Arthur and Guinevere white doves or collared?

I do have lilac trees so maybe - one day.

Anyway - you have a great birthday - put your feet up - and hope you get everything you wish for..

:faint: That is gorgeous!!!! :nw: :nw: :nw:
We have lots of cats around here, my neichbour is a "collector" but they do treat them well. They have 12 outdoor cats and several indoor cats. Fortunatley Max (my 150lb dog for those who haven't met him) is a little intimidating to them so they don't come near. Max loves cats, he wouldnt' hurt them but they still keep away, I'm sure the bluejay appreciates it.
I can't wait for the story I love your stories, maybe you could do that for the next newsletter.

Terry...I'd love a cat, but I am the only one of the four of us that isn't allergic to them! That's probably why we have such a lot of wildlife here really.

Mind you....I really miss having a cat to stroke of an evening. I love that purrrrrrrrrring!
