Went into one of the few art shops in Colchester (Trinity Galleries) to buy some waxes. They usually stock all the EA equipment that one might need in a hurry (that hotplate has used up most of the waxes I had
) and since I was on my way to the library next door, I thought I'd pop in and stock up. I'm a pretty regular customer and have bought loads of stuff from them over the years so I was shocked when the lady there announced that as of now, the new owners are not going to be stocking ANY E/A stuff at all from now on. No waxes, no card, no irons or kits NOTHING! No reason was given, other than I was probably the only person who bought any from them and it just isn't popular enough to stock! So I guess that's the last they'll see of me! Mind you, since they were trying to get rid of the waxes they had left, they let me have them half-price, so I ended up with about £28 worth of wax for the price of the waxes I had intended to buy anyway! I think it's really sad that they are doing this though. They should be encouraging new art movements, not refusing to sell the means to work with them! I'm MIFFED! Maria x |

Maria I too find this in crafts shops, they insist the art is too obsure to stock and sell. The trouble is they want stoick moving all the time. I had a opportunity to buy a large box of E/A stuff at half price also. They even had a stylus at half price ( £15???? me thinks they over charged in the first place, which was why they still had the stock left). For the cost of a demo they could shift all that stock off their shelves? Poppy

While I know a couple of places that stock encaustic stuff, I don't buy from them - they're too expensive in one and the other shop is totally inaccessible to me  I'm sticking with our Barry

I get most of my stuff from Barry, but Trinity was certainly handy if I needed something fast, or just to nip in to if I happened to be in town. But they WERE more expensive, so I suppose they are doing us a favour. Maria x |

Our local art shop takes two weeks just to get me black card and they think they're highly efficient.
and for Honiton, it is.........They did say they'd stock EA stuff for me and someone else who loves nearby (wonder who that is) but I declined......Very kind of them - but I ordered some things from Barry about 4pm one evening and it was on my doorstep next morning.... Travels at the speed of light or something from Essex apparently.... Good to get a bargain though eh....... love x

Poppy - very good
Hi M - well, if you have a minute could you possibly lure a couple down (breadcrumbs, Essex cake etc) and post them on to me....Everything here is in slo-mo speed - I'm still waiting for a cheque that was posted to me in the High Street (100 yards away) from February (deffo posted) and not arrived....so pigeons would be most helpful. My address is No. 1 Snailspace Crescent, Boresville-on-the-Edge, Dumbtown, Devon. I'd put an awful lot of provisions - bird nibbles - in parcel when sending....could take a while....... love x
