Hi Steve, everyone, this is my first posting in the Encaustics thread. I have been so inspired by all the great work in here that I just had to try it for myself. Dear hubby bought me a surprise encaustic kit the other week and I had a quick play around and came up with these. This is something new for me, would really like your comments I had such fun doing these. The first I called The Watcher because after I finished I saw the little face peering in the top right hand corner. The second The Forest Floor just a alittle abstract. Love Willow. |

Wow Willow these are beautiful. The first one is my favourite, purely because of the blues and purples,, my favourite colours. Can see you enjoyed making them , as the pleasure shines through in the pictures. Looking forward to the next ones

Hi Willow I love your paintings, the colours are lovely and the face just stares out!!, I love being able to spot things in the scene. I am new to EA aswell, I got all the kit for my B'day at the weekend, and I am addicted already. And amazed at the results. Hope to see more of your work. Sallyx

Hi Willow! These are really good first efforts! Don't you love it when faces appear? I remember doing an A3 one once and suddenly two huge red indians were staring back at me! Hard to choose a fave with these two, but if push came to shove I think I'd choose the second one. I like the warm colours and you have achieved a sense of depth. Now you have begun, all visions of a tidy house will disappear, because once addicted, that's it! Welcome to the club! Maria x |

Great work, Willow I'd have to pick the first for the colours, but I love the warmth of the second
I love the randomness that happens so often in encaustic, and wish I was quicker at spotting images sometimes I'm sure that I've probably wiped out no end of things when I've been waxing It's fantastic to have you join the club, so big thanks to hubby Was there some nudging by any chance?

They're both very stylish - it'll be interesting to see which medium you prefer after a few more goes with EA.... Love x

Hi everyone, for the nice comments and encouragement. At the moment I'm a little busy at home with my family but I'm hoping I can find time soon to concentrate more on doing the encaustic painting, I really did enjoy doing these. I'm very much in the learning stages and have a long way to go before catching up with you all. Have just been having a look at all your work and absolutely love it especially the fairies and dragons, love all the fantasy art, there is certainly lots of talent around here. Back soon.Love Willow

PVC Apron and lots of paper only safe options, Willow? Oddly enough, I've only ever got wax on my hands by mistake
I've not had to remove it from fabric, and I work with a board on my lap rather than at a table ![]() Looking forward to seeing more ![]() Steve |

After many washes in washing machine - it will eventually come out - like in about 6 months
I did try and convince my friends it was a new designer label range of clothes Blobs R Us.......but there was nothing for it in the end - had to wear a pinny......Love x
