Hi everyone, it's been an absolute disaster day for me. I decided to practise more with the iron so decided to do a landscape, lost count of how many I did, started well with the sky then totally messed up the hills and everything else, by now fast running out of my colours, hardly any blue and white left so decided to use them up by just messing around and came up with this little fantasy, the scanner has taken most of the colour out of it and I don't know what to call it but thought I'd show it anyway. I used the iron and tried to scratch in a castle with the scratchy tool, my version  comments welcome, you are allowed to laugh :D  Love Willow

That's a stunning ice-scape, Willow :art: The castle is perfect, and I love the way we appear to be looking out from either a cave or under a high bridge or rock arch :thumbup; You could also see it (if you hate the cold) as a scene from a world of crystal (just ask Jenny, she's very familiar with that concept :D ) :)

Is this where one of Maria's " just happeneds" went to.? :r
I like this very much. It is a good crystal world picture and the castle reflects beautifully.

A beautiful ice scene - the castle is magical and delicate...just goes to show how efective one or two colours can be.

I double clicked on the little pic to bring it up larger and the light coming from above is lovely.

This is excellent! Just goes to show what you can do when you just relax a little bit and go with the flow! This is the best one you've done so far!

Love it!

:ta: Thanks everyone for kind comments  the more I look at this the more I can see it looks like an Ice world so that's what I named it and Poppy you can walk through my ice world anytime if it will help you cool off :r might even tag along with you as it looks as though we are also in for another scorching hot day

When I was doing this and the others I have noticed a lot of little pin head bubbles appearing on the surface and I can't get rid of them, does anyone know what causes this? Many thanks.

Willow, I believe the tiny bubbles are due to the iron being just a touch too warm, or sometimes overworking the wax a bit? I may be way off though, but I had that a couple of times ;) I actually used it as I liked the effect :r

I think the little bubbles that you've encountered are just air expanding from within the card as the iron heats it up. It emerges from the card surface into liquid wax and creates the bubbles.
As Steve says, sometimes they can be left as they actually add to the intrigue of a picture.
If you don't want them, they should disappear if you go over that area again but , of course, that changes the effect.
If you spot them quickly enough (and realise, before they set ;) , that you don't like them :o ), blow at them to burst them. If they've already set, they won't burst but you could try warming gently with a hair-dryer until the surface is just glossy and then trying to burst them by blowing.
Hope that helps!

PS If my first sentence is correct, you could try pre-empting the event by warming the card with a hair dryer BEFORE putting the iron near it. I have never tried that but it ought to help to minimise the bubbles.
